Went here this evening for dinner. We started with the calamari which was completely flavor less and almost jerky tough. The aioli that came with it was full of raw garlic with an aggressive bite. Next came my crab ravioli and my partners steak. My ravioli were all undercooked and very hard to bite through. Once I got to the crab in the ravioli I found shell pieces. My partners steak was ordered rare and came out medium. His steamed vegetables were more like microwaved carrots. They were raw, unseasoned and warm at best. The mashed potatoes were dry but with good flavor. Dessert was ice shards of frozen Black Berry listed at gelato. The service was great and attentive, perhaps they should find a kitchen that can keep up with their good service. Won't be back. read more

Been there twice and found it to be soso both times. Nothing real special. Had the seafood chimichanga the first time, won't be ordering that again. Was soggy and seafood was almost pureed with cream cheese. Its middle of the road at best. read more

We've been to this restaurant many times...mostly for lunch. The view of the marina from virtually every seat in the restaurant is relaxing, and I love it. The service has been ok. Not horrible, not excellent. Waitresses are pleasant and accommodating. The food choices on the menu, especially dinner, are many and varied and offer different twists on the usual steaks, burgers, and tacos. The main issue with this restaurant is that food quality isn't consistent. We have eaten here and had fabulous meals: hot, fresh, and delicious. Other times, our food takes awhile and arrives cold or with the appearance it was slapped together. We go back for the view and the times that the food has been good. It isn't a restaurant that makes a great first impression, tho. read more

After very mediocre reviews from friends and a poor lunch a year ago, we were reluctant to return. Fortunately, their deck is such a cool place to hang we had to give it another try. We have now gone to five or six happy hours there with nothing but good results. Good munchies (Fried avocado, ceviche, ahi tacos, calamari, etc). The drinks are also well done, and not watered down tourist stuff. The staff and service have been great each time. We were afraid to return for an actual meal, but went today and were impressed. Had the verde cream enchiladas and the house salad with their raspberry vinaigrette. Very good, once again great service. read more

Went for dinner with some friends for a Birthday Dinner. The food was fresh. The menu had some very tasty, healthy and unique choices like crab ravioli and a vegetable curry bowl. We enjoyed a great view of Squalicum harbor and all the boats. We liked the quiet surroundings. It was on a Tuesday night so I suspect Friday and Saturday nights would draw a bigger crowd. read more

Delicious seafood meal. I got the Cajun Seafood mac n cheese. It was full of crab & andouille sausage& three prawns, but it was mis-named. Not really "Mac & cheese". More of a spicy pasta dish. I went back for the happy hour and it was a total success. I got a microbrew and a delicious burger for under $10. That is a great deal.

Good food and good drinks. We ate in the bar instead of waiting for a table. It was the same menu and everything we had was delicious.

I have eaten at the Loft many times over the years because they have such an amazing view, but unfortunately the view can't make up for poor service. Every time we eat there we are greeted with "We are short staffed tonight." Once our food arrived our waitress disappeared and didn't once refill our glasses or check to see if we needed anything. It is disappointing and we will not be back. What a bummer. read more

Food and service were terrible. I got the fish tacos, which were extremely bland and cold, and boyfriend got the calamari, which was incredibly chewy and not well cooked. Our server came out after our food had been given to us and while we were half way done with our meal asking if we wanted any sauces. I said yes. waited to eat the other half until he came back as that would hopefully salvage the meal, and he never came back. Service was incredibly slow and it did not seem to be too busy at all. Best Happy Hour in Bellingham! My wife and brother in law went on a Friday afternoon for the first time. We heard really great things from a lot of friends so we had to check it out for ourselves. All I can say is AMAZING food (all food on the happy hour menu is $5.50). Great selection of micro brews (all for $3.50). Plus you can't beat the incredible view of Bellingham Bay. All in all it was an amazing experience, service was really great also! The waiters and bartenders we're very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend The Loft!! read more

I had lunch with friends yesterday and we all had the salmon and Halibut tacos. They tasted great, but it did take about 30 minutes to arrive. This is the whole package. For full dining you have a delicious menu with seating inside and out that is facing a pretty marina. The bar, with a great happy hour of seafood appetizers and local brews and wine, also affords beautiful views. And the price is worth it. My boyfriend and my first time dining here! I had a margarita and the chicken salad sandwich! It was all delicious. I wanted dessert, but definitely could not fit it. The view is beautiful and would be a perfect spot both for summer and winter days. Sadia was our server, she was very helpful and attentive without being totally over bearing. This is a great spot on the water. The king salmon was delicious, but the black rice was extremely undercooked and barely edible. 4 stars because the salmon was cooked to perfection. Drinks are strong and view is incredible especially if you catch a sun set!! read more

Pro's: Nice view of the harbor, sits right on the water, outside seating Con's: Everything else The fish and chips (cod) was overcooked, the breading was over salty and outside was just this side of black. The waitress stated the fish was fresh but it doesn't matter when it is over cooked. "Fish and Chips" was a menu item, I was offered three types of chips, regular, parmesan and sweet potato, no mention was made that all but one choice was extra. The sweet potato fries were over cooked and surprise there was an extra charge. The service was ok but the food took a while to arrive although there were very few patrons, guess they were busy burning the fish and chips! I've tried the place twice now. The seats make a McDonald's seating seem comfortable. When the seats frames start rusting (from not being coated) the clothing stains will be bad. Finish work of remodel needs complete. Staff is un-trained and/or un-managed. THE YELLING FROM THE KITCHEN ISN'T NEEDED EITHER. I had the mono flavored chili dip, the burger was just O.K. We brought a group of 50 people to The Loft back in August for a rehearsal dinner. We had visited the restaurant earlier in the year to "check it out" due to the negative reviews that we had heard and read about. We are from out of state and I was a bit anxious about everything going well but the management was very helpful through the entire process. Because of the size of our group we did the Summer Barbeque meal which was served buffet style. The salmon was a big hit and the rest of the food was delicious as well. Even though it was "one trip per person" our guests were allowed to go back up and finish what was left and everyone had plenty to eat! We were seated outside with a very nice view of the water on a beautiful evening. As the evening progressed it cooled off and blankets were offered to those who weren't dressed warm enough. We had 2 servers who were so very helpful and attentive to our needs. We felt like the price was very good, the food delicious and the staff very friendly. read more

Love the atmosphere, the food and service. However, for some reason, it always takes a while to be seated even when no one else is waiting for a table (and many tables are open.) They seem to always mark something on a chart and then log something into the computer before they can seat people. Not sure what this system is, but it is a bit irritating. read more

We gave this place yet one more try because we wanted to dine outside on a nice evening. Wait staff was pleasant but at least three of the staff I saw kept touching their hair. Yuk. Food was as forgettable as it was on previous visits. My prime rib dip was cold, my companion's salmon was an overlooked slab. One should not be able to bounce a fork off of salmon. Really wanted to like this place. Great location ='s one star. However, the food - not so good. I went with several people - great company. Many of us had the Thai salad. It was a Thai Chicken Salad. I believe that I got about three tiny pieces of dried out "chicken". The whole salad was totally tasteless and not at all what Thai food is all about. Way overpriced for what is was..............NOT going back. Too many other great places in Bellingham for that. read more

The best halibut & chips in town! My family ate at the Loft on Fathers Day 2019 and all our meals were perfect! The dill tartar sauce for the halibut & chips was superb! The pretzel buns on the hamburgers were a nice touch! The halibut Oscar special was delicious and the peanut butter silk pie was awesome! It's rare that all four of us rave about every aspect of a meal when we go out! Nice work! read more

On 10/6/2016 we decided to try The Loft for the first time. That will be the last time. My BF had the seafood chimichanga which he said was decent. I'll also add that it was plated beautifully. I had the unfortunate experience of ordering Fish and Chips. I chose Halibut over Cod for three extra dollars. I was expecting really good, golden brown pieces of fish and some hearty fries. What I was given was a bowl of dark brown oil soaked funky tasting fries and the fish was also dark brown and very dry (I'd bet money that they were frozen). I also requested regular tarter sauce and was told they only serve their gross dill tarter. Not what one expects from a nice restaurant at the harbor in Bellingham. read more

My wife and I tried this place on a Sunday evening for dinner before a concert. We were very disappointed in the fish and chips dinner we were served. 3 small pieces of cod that were tasteless and chewey but for the dipping sauce. If you like paying a lot for an 8" bowl 3/4 full of soggy,salty and barely warm fries this is the place to go. Most disappointing fish and chips meal we have ever experienced. We were a little less impressed with our second visit to The Loft...the food was tasty enough but the service staff seems less than professional with their need to share inappropriate details about the circumstances causing food to be delayed from the kitchen. Also the wait staff is so eclectically dressed in mostly ill fitting outfits that it's sometimes difficult to tell who is a patron and who is working. Staff in matched uniforms would definitely lend a sense of professionalism/continuity to the establishment. Still, a lovely place to enjoy a warm sunny evening on the deck. read more
