Beachfront view! [Blaine WA] For our last meal in Blaine we walked across the street from our hotel and dined here at Bay Breeze. The friendly host seated us immediately, it wasn't that busy for a Saturday evening. He sat us by the window. It would've been a nice waterfront view but at 6:00p it was pretty much dark out. We placed our order. I chose the Pan Roasted Salmon. The king salmon was a good size and the presentation was pretty. Good citrus salad and grilled asparagus. I didn't like the couscous that much... what exactly is couscous? is it a grain? a seed? I left it as is. The salmon, which I was anticipating to be delicious was dry and tasteless! I dunno, no hint of flavored sauces, olive oil... salt? nothing. Bland ¯\_('~')_/¯ Hubby had the grilled hamburger w/ cheese. He seemed to enjoy his meal. The fries look burnt though. Food was fine but overpriced. I got scared out of trying the fish and chips due to all the bad reviews here. I had the calamari instead which was unique but a little too much sauce led to the calamari breaking down and becoming mushy. Clam chowder was great. The views of the bay here are superb and if you stick to appetizers I think it's worth it. Only one waitress on when I came in on a weekend during lunch and she absolutely killed it. She also had to seat people on top of serving the five tables she had at that time so she was working her butt off. read more

We came here out of convenience of the location to our lodging. Our experience was excellent! I had the rockfish and my husband the blackened shrimp fettuccine. We cleaned our plates it was that good. They source locally and we could tell the produce was fresh and excellent quality. For dessert we got both offerings, a warm apple pie like dessert which was wonderful and a crepe dessert which we didn't care for (kind of like cold tortillas with sauce). Frozen Fish and chips that were dry and overcooked! The Breading was Burnt and greasy! The chips were nice and the coleslaw was unique and tasty. The food was just not good. We got it to go, so not sure about how it is dining in but the portions were very small and on the pricier side. Came here with a big group and overall, had a nice dining experience here. Our server definitely did a great job with accommodating my group as we had a couple of small kids. - Cocktails: Wowzer, these drinks pack a nice kick. Definitely recommend ordering one of the many yummy drinks on the menu. Well crafted and worth the taste. - Food: Overall, generous portion for the dishes and quality was excellent. The menu is quite extensive ranging from typical seafood to some Asian fusion style ones. So definitely take a look at all of the options. The only thing that I can complain about is the weird brown spot on the wall and how the fries were greasy, and that's literally it! New menu is great - service was slow but friendly and they were a bit overwhelmed when we came early on a Saturday night. Loved our cocktails and the fish & chips - the fish had a light batter (reminded me of tempura) and the fries were delicious. We ordered the bang bang shrimp and were surprised it was more of a salad than a shrimp dish - it was good and had lots of avocado, my husband loved the round shrimp but I found the batter to be too thick. My mom and I come here at least once a month. This is my first review (sorry about that). We love their smoky Old Fashioned. Our two favorites are the Bang Bang Shrimp and Parmesan Crusted Rockfish. The tables are situated by the windows that look directly out onto Birch Bay. It makes me feel like I'm on a cruise ship! Tonight mom had the Seasonal Grilled Chicken (vegan-without chicken). The Bartender Orian really knows what he's doing and is an unusually class act out here in Birch Bay. You can enjoy sports in the bar on two different TVs and an incredible view out the windows that makes you feel like you're on the water. They had a Monday beer special which was nice. Hard to find any specials in Birch Bay so I appreciate when somebody has one family as last year but the sun is running it this year and I'm excited to see how they do.he and his wife are living locally so maybe things will look up. Delicious food. I had the bang-bang shrimp salad and it was excellent. The server was friendly. About 6:30pm it got a little busy, and way too noisy. So after a not so good time here, I was invited to a birthday I attended. We started with prawns and their pot stickers. The prawns were not frozen, they were very fresh. The pot stickers were overcooked but the sauce was so delicious. For my main dish I had the halibut, and for sure it was frozen, which is crazy since the view is right on the bay. read more

I returned the next day to try the fish and chips and the Clam Chowder, which I had heard mixed reviews about for lunch. I love the chunky style of chowder offered by the Bay Breeze chefs. However, the potatoes could have been half as large as they were and still be chunky. I didn't miss the bacon as much as I thought I would in the soup, as the taste was spot on, and the clams were fresh, with no graininess in my bowl. The fish and chips were good, seasoned sufficiently so the tartar sauce or malt vinegar would complement and not compete with the fish. The chips, aka fries, were hot and tasty. The coleslaw, which I'm typically not a fan of, and the heavy mayonnaise sweet side dish had me wanting more. It was tangy, different, and crunchy and went perfectly with the fried fish. The order was enough for two. I enjoyed my lunch and would recommend the new menu and chefs at the Bay Breeze Restaurant. I got a great window view of the ocean during what was starting to be a rainy day. I could only imagine this lovely place during the spring and summer months. I can't wait to come back. read more

This little hidden gem was a nice place to catch a beautiful view while enjoying good food and drink. We randomly walked into this place from our hotel. The sign said they closed at 8pm and we arrived about 7:50pm. They informed us they stop seating at 8pm. We chatted with our lovely waitress Carlin who was giving us the tea of all the cool things to expect from this place in the future. This restaurant was very simple as far as decor and had a very limited menu but with that being said.... The food was excellent and the customer service was great! New menu, you say? New chef? Ok. Let's get some food!! Spent a sunny weekend in Birch Bay. After a long walk on the beach, we were pretty hungry! Bay Breeze was a welcome sight--a bright blue building right on the beach. Clean, lots of space between diners, and cheerful staff. Sitting in the bar--looking out at the beach--another customer recommended the fish and chips. She said they were SO good that she was back for the 2nd day in a row. Well, we tried them!! OH. MY. GAWD!!! Never have I EVER tasted fish and chips like these! Beautiful presentation--the first thing you see is a lemon. Not JUST a lemon...but, a lemon that is GRILLED to perfection! Hot and filled with juice! The fish was lightly battered on the outside with a steaming, flakey, FAT fillet on the inside. (Haven't we ALL had all batter and no fish in the past??) This was accompanied by some perfectly seasoned fries and "to die for" slaw. Fragrant, fresh, tangy/sweet. PERFECTION! The tartar sauce followed suit and did not disappoint with its fresh and tastebud tantalizing flavors. Ok, Bay Breeze, the Corpse Reviver cocktail was tasty, too....but....it was the fish and chips that stole the show! We thought we must've dreamed that the food was THAT good. Maybe we were delirious from the sun...SOOOOO....we did what other patrons had done. We went back the NEXT day for Round 2!!! My only disappointment was that we had to leave the next day and wouldn't be able to enjoy Round 3!!! A HUGE round of applause, Bay Breeze. I did not catch the name of our bartender/server but I believe he said the owner was his father in law. Very nice & accommodating. Love the roof top dining area and it's the perfect place to grab fish and chips. As like all restaurants in Birch Bay they all close too early in the evening. Hope to see a return of 10pm or 11pm for at least the bars remaining open. read more

We are visiting here for a week and almost passed this place by from reading previous reviews. We are so glad we didn't because the food and views from this place make me give it every bit of 5 stars. Service was slow, but we were told it would be due to a back up in the kitchen. However, servers and bartender checked in with us and promptly refilled our drinks while we waited and even after we were served. The clams they had on special with the smoked peppers were amazing! In addition, the cod sandwich, which was HUGE, was outstanding along with the pulled pork tacos. We highly recommend checking this place out!! read more
