Then she just blew dry my hair like a mother who hated her four year-old and told me that it would be pretty when she was done and I told her that I wanted a blowout and she said this is a blowout where she uses a Vented brush to brush my hair straight and then use a flat iron to iron my hair flat. A bad experience then at the end she said I'll check you out right here and I said how much do I owe you? She said $65 and when I booked the service it said $40 and she said well I'll take the $40 then I could've done my hair at home better and in the beginning, I asked her to put some purple shampoo in my hair to tone down the brassiness and she told me that she didn't have time for that that she only had 30 minutes with me. When I asked about pricing on root touch up/single process over the phone, the reception gentleman said it would be same as before, which was $107. Then, I checked the website that there were 3 tiers of designers with $60/62/65 on single process hair color. At my previous visit, I added botanical treatment which was about $15 or $20, so I think the receptionist didn't look at the details, and just told me whatever he saw from the old record and said it's same $107 without specifying what services I had before. So, when I walked in, I asked the same receptionist to clarify the price. Then, he said they no longer offer 3 tiers of designer's price, but only one 'master' tier price, which was $65 for root-touch ups/ single process. Shampoo and blow dry was $38, and they were required for the root-touch up although the website showed differently as shampoo/blow dry add on to the hair color was $21. Since I didn't want blow dry and wanted to keep the same price that I had before, I tried to ask if they could replace blow dry to botanical treatment that I did last time, then, not surprisingly, it was not accepted. Wish they don't mandate the customer for paying extra $38 for the add-on shampoo and blow dry on top of hair color. But it's the policy that the reception gentleman couldn't be flexible about. It has been a while to visit the particular location, so possibly I missed the opportunity to see some changes progressed; the lady I had my hair color left; website was not updated with new prices or information about removing tiers of designers; shampoo and blow dry add on pricing is removed, and full price is added to hair color. I've been a loyal customer on both products and hair salons of Aveda for more than a dozen years. It used to be my pleasant treat for myself for relaxing and enjoyable visit at Aveda salons. But unfortunately, I feel sad that I was not pleased about my visit at this particular salon even before my hair was done. I left without any service. Fortunately, my salon certificate can be used at any Aveda salons regardless of selected name of salon on the certificate, so I'll save it for later.

Hair is one of the most important visual cues we have to inaudibly announce who we are, a sort of set of nonverbal cliff notes, if those are still around. As for finding a good one, I've been through three and after a butcher job and a store closing I've found someone I entrust my furry noggin to and who never fails to go above and beyond. I decided to entrust my scalp to Mercer Hair Studio based on reviews. The store front is located in one of the most compact parking lots ever, I mean who planned this? Anyways walking in the décor is simple yet with a local art flair, demonstrating that these ladies are not only good at their craft but they're real artists at heart. This is good because of what I was there for took a certain amount of artistry not just a number 5 or a boys (men's) haircut. My stylist, whom wasn't exactly what I requested was gifted, exceptional at taking a picture and replicating in real life. Sitting in her chair the lady was caring and detail oriented except one issue, making sure every nook and cranny was addressed. She's not the fastest but above average and I believe that has more to do with my incessant jabbering and making jokes than her skill. As for the cuts, she was on the money but adding highlights or dyes she missed the task. Her dying was more like a whole platinum M&M style than highlights. I even gave her a picture so I wasn't satisfied with the amount she opted to put in my hair. I can't speak upon all the services provided here but from my experiences I'm some-what satisfied. The place is safe, but the prices are literally over twice what I was paying in Austin TX a year ago. In summary, be very diligent on the color and amount you want but be prepared to pay a lot more than other places. I don't believe their prices reflect some high level of quality, but it's far from poor.

I understand it is an older building, but cleanliness should still be a priority, and some areas felt a little grimy.
