This place is an absolute treasure. I attended the Prohibition Repeal Party last night, which featured a harpist and a jazz band, guests who were dressed in dazzling 1920s-30s finery, heavy hors d'oeuvres (I especially enjoyed the spinach-stuffed mushrooms) + desserts, high-quality cocktails, dancing, unbeatable ambience that was heightened by the vibrance and glow of holiday decorations, and the most courteous staff you could imagine. The ticket price, which included the food, was merely $35 in advance. Drinks were available for purchase separately. This was my first visit to the restaurant -- I wish I had known of its existence years ago. The evening was well-worth the 90-minute drive from my house. A nostalgic meal We first ate at The Log Cabin several (many?) decades ago. We enjoyed our conversation with the owner about the history of the restaurant. The building and dining rooms are still inviting and comfortable. The restaurant is located in a remote area on the far side of a one lane covered bridge. The menu dishes have a formal presentation. The food is good, but not outstanding. The Log Cabin is an appropriate location for a milestone birthday or similar celebration. The service is attentive. read more

Upscale American restaurant in a restored log cabin I came here for dinner with my fiancé and although we made a reservation, our table was not ready for 30 min after we arrived. The hostesses were very apologetic however (apparently the party before us was taking an incredibly long time), and both they offered to seat us either outside or at a high-top table and gave us complimentary prosecco, so I don't fault them for this. The main entrance to the place is pretty cool, as it really highlights the rustic vibe and there was a waiting area that had a 3-person band playing classical music when we came. However, other than this room the fact that the place is a restored log cabin isn't really apparent. The food was all very average. We came here on my birthday weekend, and they had a small folded paper on the table saying "happy birthday" (that they must reuse because the inside said "happy anniversary") and their was a small baggie of chocolates. Our dining experience here was a pleasant one. The selections were reasonably priced for fine dining, and the ambiance is incredibly spacious with a rustic and warm welcoming vibe. The hanger steak appetizer on their special menu was extremely delicious, paired perfectly with their vinaigrette sauce and veggies. The chowder was by far one of the best seafood chowder we ever had, for it was jam-packed with flavor and bites of seafood, highly recommend it! The bone marrow for 10 bucks was extremely delicious and reasonably priced, albeit a bit heavy-handed on the salt. The lobs-cargot was also buttery and garlicky, a playful twist to its cousin the escargot. We got the ribeye from the special menu which was also cooked perfectly, but for the price, it's quality actually paled in comparison to the hanger steak; the bone marrow butter did not really enhance the ribeye all that much unfortunately. After much back and forth and three different reservations...we wound up at The Log Cabin Restaurant for dinner. Cabin in the Woods cocktails were good. Smoke waft, sip of maple sweetness with a whiskey finish. Started with some crab and lobster bisque: spoon-coatingly thick and the crab and lobster meat was presented on the surface so you could ensure an appropriate compliment to each spoonful. Perusing the menu on the drive over and I was pretty well set on the mocha crusted barrel cut ribeye. They made the decision difficult with the special entree of wagyu coulotte (picanha). Filet Girl unexpectedly liked the sound of the ribeye package, so done deal. Wagyu coulotte for me and I'd still get to taste her ribeye. I can see the wagyu picanha being a hard cut to cook, three slices were too rare and the small tip on the end was more towards medium well. The medium rare majority however was exceptional; tender and super tasty. Her ribeye, on the other hand, was bang on ribeye perfect beefy goodness. Their knives sucked though. I'm gonna start bringing my own. Sticky toffee pudding was presented with a cute little "happy anniversary" chocolate garnish. Except it wasn't sticky toffee pudding, it was a disgustingly sweet wet cake. Atmosphere was cozy and great. Thanks Christine for really good service. Nice Ferrari at the door on the way out and I find it disappointing that it's not socially acceptable to sniff around it or jokingly jump in, throw the driver out, and take off for a bit on these Lancaster roads . read more

After not visiting the Log Cabin for many years, we decided to try it again a few weeks before Christmas. No issues, a wonderful evening, everything was great. Not cheap but we knew that. We left anxious to come back soon. *Note that we had several Grey Goose and tonics, single, @ $7 each Fast forward to this week when we returned to celebrate my wife's birthday. A Tuesday night. It was Valentines week but the place was barely half full. As usual, we got there early to have a few drinks at the bar before dinner. We had four Grey Goose and tonic, doubles, tall glass. Four total of the same drink. When I cashed out and saw the bill my teeth almost fell out...$76. $19 per drink. Yikes. Not letting it ruin the evening I paid the bill and gave the bartender a generous tip because he was great and I felt sorry for him having to solely represent prices like that. Unfortunately our dinner server lost tips on an appetizer or two and probably drinks that we didn't order. We had dinner and shared a dessert, which were great, but left feeling disappointed and unlikely to come back anytime soon, again. read more

Had a 25th wedding anniversary there 4/19/26 and went to bar as we were a few minutes earlier. Sat for amlost five minutes and were not served and eventually hostess took ua to table. We had an excellent meal with great seat but sat for almost 15-10 minutes with no water or any request for another glass of wine. So by the time desert was offered we got our check. read more

I agree with the other reviews. The food is wonderful. The decor is outstanding - uniquely rustic old-world. And the staff is friendly and helpful. I highly, highly recommend the Log Cabin. So why only 4 stars? The wine list. Or rather, the disparity between the wine list and what they actually have in stock. (If you are not a 'wine snob' like me, then you can stop reading right here, and just make yourself reservations at the Log Cabin and go have a wonderful meal.) OK, as regards the wine list, it advertised a 2021 Easton Zinfandel Rinaldi Vineyard (by the bottle). I was excited to try it. I had researched this wine prior to dining at the Log Cabin. So naturally I ordered it ... and they brought a bottle of ... the 2015?!? For anyone that knows Zinfandel, you know Zin ages quite quickly. A 10-year-old Zin is not going to taste anything like a 4-year-old Zin. The waitress did not inform us that the vintage was not what was advertised on their wine list. She was oblivious that what she brought to the table was not the wine we ordered. I pointed out the discrepancy. She got the manager. They were polite, but together they could not find a bottle of the 2021. Sad. So I ordered a bottle of the 'regular' 2023 Easton Zinfandel advertised on their wine list. ... Nope, they were out of that completely. But they had it by-the-glass(?) I had noticed the 'regular' Easton Zin on the wine list. Nope, our waitress informed us, that's a third, different 'regular' Easton Zinfandel - the 2016. So they don't have the 2016 listed by the year and bottle on their wine list. They then don't have the 2023, and they try and pass-off a 2015 in place of the 2021. Honestly, in all my years of dining in better-quality restaurants, I've never had so much difficulty ordering a wine, or felt that the restaurant was trying to pass-off lower quality wine in place of what they had advertised on their menu. Or that the wine by the glass was not what they had by the bottle. Weird. One other point: although their website says the Log Cabin closes at 9 pm, they really close at 8 pm (at least that is when the kitchen closes). My wife and I arrived early for our 7 pm reservation and enjoyed a drink in the piano room. At 7 pm the hostess asked if we'd like to be seated. I said 'no thank you, we'll finish our drinks in a bit.' Given that the restaurant was mostly empty on a Tuesday evening and that we could not possibly be occupying a table for a later arrival, I thought we could sit and sip until more like 7:30 pm. and then be seated at our table and still be done around 9 pm. Nope. The hostess came back at 7:05 pm and said it was 'restaurant policy' that we be sat. I now see that despite what the website says, they really want everyone out by 8 pm or so. When we got sat, our waitress informed us that the kitchen closes at 8 pm. We still had a lovely dinner (except for the wine debacle, and that delayed us about 15 minutes while they figured it out), but the moment we set foot out the door at 9:05 pm, they locked the door behind us and turned out the lights. So I'd say definitely eat here, but 1. make dinner reservations not later than 6 pm, and 2. be very, very careful of the wine they try and serve you, if wine is important to you read more

We went here to celebrate 3 birthdays and will not go back. I've been going here to eat for years but something has definitely changed. The menu was very strange with strange additions to the protein. We ordered filet mignon and it came out the wrong temperature for both of us. The bernaise sauce was awful. It took our waiter at least 10 minutes to greet us which should have been a warning. The service was slow, he never checked on us after we got our food, and it took forever to get our bill. And then when we expressed our disappointment with the manager she just denied our experience was real and then stood at our table until we lifer making us look like bad guys. Never again. read more

They did not rush us to order and the waiter fully described the ingredients of the foods when we asked him. One of my party has to be gluten free and there are options for him. My husband and I had been looking forward to trying the bar out at this restaurant for a long time! On Friday night, we drove 30 minutes and arrived shortly after they opened. The hostesses greeted us, and we told them we were going to sit at the bar, only to be asked if we had a reservation. We didn't because we have never been to an establishment where a reservation was required to sit at the bar. They did not have a seat available.... It was unbelievable to us.. This seemed like a very exclusive restaurant, and I'm sure the bar area is reserved for their regular patrons to sit and wait for dinner. Oh how I wish we had found this place a few days earlier so that we could return during this trip! What a terrific place, located in the hills above Lancaster County in a forest of large trees. This really is an old, restored cabin with large additions added. The bar staff was warm and welcoming, knowledgeable and willing to share local information while concocting delicious drinks. Our food was wonderful! The kind of food where you want to eat the entire large entree but know you shouldn't. So we took home the leftovers and ate them on the plane home! Super! Tucked in a remote neighborhood where GPS can't help you, The Log Cabin Restaurant is an adventure worth circling around for. Once we found it the old fashioned way by looking at the map (lol) we were excited to find such a gem. Classic, almost frozen in a certain time frame, with touches of cozy cabin decor, we were immediately greeted by the warmth of the restaurant. My partner surprised me by this wonderful dinner. I loved the live piano music which helped liven the environment. The service was fabulous, everyone was friendly and professional. The food - delicious and fresh. I remember coming here as a young adult with my parents and for special occasions. We always enjoyed our experiences and I wasn't in a rush to remember the Log Cabin in any other way. Over the years I've heard mixed reviews, more negative than positive, which made me apprehensive to visit. Since the new owners have taken over, the reviews have mainly been positive. We decided Valentine's Day at The Log Cabin would be a romantic date night. Stepping inside, I was pleased that not much had changed. It was just as I had remembered. The fireplace was going, the light smell of campfire permeated the dining room and it was perfectly intimate. I almost always order red meat at fine dining restaurants and I was not disappointed. My husband chose the filet mignon and it was buttery smooth. I opted for the 21 day dry aged barrel cut ribeye. Both were medium rare and both were absolutely perfect. I wouldn't have changed any element of the ribeye. And that Applewood smoke English cheddar mac & cheese was creamy and luscious. Our experience with Log Cabin restaurant, in Lancaster, last night. LC is a fancy old-style kind of place, or so we have been told. Their website pictures a really nice set of dining rooms, speaks of exceptional food, and boasts (what for us) passes as high-end prices. I expected a $200 meal for two when I made reservations through the website. Note... at no time did I speak with an actual human being. John Wright restaurant calls back to confirm every time we go there but to each their own. Last night we made our way up to keep our 7:30 reservation (The last one they had when I made it). It's a thirty-minute ride from home, but hey... date night! We arrived to find 'Log Cabin Road' (They have their own road!!) blocked off with a sign saying 'Closed due to high water'. Huh. I drove around looking for another route to the restaurant while Carolyn tried calling them. No luck on either score. All the roads I found were blocked, and they did not answer the phone or return calls. Shortly after we passed the time of our reservation, I'd had enough and left my own message. It was not a kind message and referenced the competence of a restaurant manager who could not be bothered to tell his patrons their road was closed (I will note that other drivers were piling up at the road-closed sign, apparently in the same boat as us). Still no callback. By the time we got home from having dinner at a fine restaurant in Lititz (Blackworth), I found an email saying my reservation had been canceled. Also note that their website was taking reservations through this entire affair, and still is. Okay... I'm not happy at all with how Log Cabin handled their problems. I am not inclined to give them another chance, and will probably not pass up a chance to share my story. Questions: Am I off base to be unhappy with the Log Cabin restaurant? If not... what could they have done that would have been more professional and better treated their clients? read more

Food and service was excellent. We did have one issue with the food. For apps, I had the Carpaccio which was excellent, however my wife had the Shrimp Cocktail and found the shrimp to be "gummy". Our service informed the mgr who came to our table, apologized and took it off the bill. As an entree I had the Blackened Salmon Oscar. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the hollandaise and crab were just as good, however the accompanying brie pearled couscous "risotto" was slightly overcooked, but good flavor. We took my mother-in-law there because it looked like a unique place in area. Reservation was at 5. We sat down and order something to drink. Then Bread, calamari oysters and entrees. My wife ordered the lamb shank which look really good and tasted that was as well. Tina our server ask how things were and my wife said "the bread was cold" and the response was "it's cold, it's no supposed to be" I order the 8 oz ribeye, the presentation was reminiscent of a high end restaurant, the streak was chewy and for 62$ it should have melted in my mouth. I also mentioned it but pushed it off as the cooling process of searing the too and bottom, i should have sent it back and told her ask the chef if he would have accepted it. Over all atmosphere was nice with live music, Food NOT SO MUCH, not worth the price. I guess the most frustrating thing is they didn't even comp the bread or ask if we wanted another order that was hot. Tourist trap sort of people coming through town not to return. We had a nice dinner here for our anniversary. We made reservations, and they had a little vase of flowers on the table for us that we got to take with us. Very nice surprise! We both ordered a cocktail, and we really enjoyed them. Unfortunately, they were out of my husband's first choice on the menu. It was disappointing, but he ended up getting the osso bucco, and I had a steak. Both were very good. We have gone here a number of times and have never been disappointed. It's a lovely drive from Lancaster. Maybe 30 minutes through the countryside. The interior is wonderfully rustic but up to date. Beautiful seasonal menus. Great service. Good cocktails. We have enjoyed dinner, a Sunday brunch and just some cocktails and appetizers in the bar (prior to pandemic when it could be open.). First ... I don't give 5 star ratings, there is always something that could be better ... right? The log cabin restaurant may be as close as I'll ever get ti a 5 star spot. The actual building and deco is truly intriguing. The art work was interesting and the history was interesting. We were seated in the main dining room with a roaring wood fire going. The meal was excellent... beef fillet was perfectly cooked, tender, flavorful. Salmon was very good and the veggie entree kept the Mrs happy. We dined there on Saturday evening, I was the only one who was displeased. We were seated promptly and our server saw us right away. She reviewed the specials and nearly walked away without taking our drink order. We then waited for 15 minutes and she came back for our dinner order. No drinks. 10 minutes later we got our drinks, which were great. I was ready for a second within 10 mins - no sign or our server. Finally I flagged her down. Food came out 10-15 mins later and 5 mins after that, so did my second drink (at this point I wished I had ordered wine). I had the mocha ribeye medium rare. When I cut in, it felt well done. But it was pink though and through. It was one of the toughest cuts I've ever had. I have no idea what they did to it, but it was terrible. The sauce was very good and the fries were ok. They were chewy, like they had been reheated or under a heat lamp for several hours. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food and desert was very good. It had been over 20 yrs since we were at the Log Cabin because we don't live in the area. We won't be back. read more
