Traveling overnight, my wife pointed us toward Sturges Speakeasy after seeing the great reviews, and she absolutely nailed it. This place was fantastic, the kind of spot you're genuinely glad you stumbled into. The atmosphere had that perfect mix of cool and comfortable. I grabbed a beer, Stacy's Mom, and I'd order it again without thinking twice. My wife went for the Self‑Loathing Burger, which lived up to the hype. My daughter ordered the Mother‑Clucker (pictured), and after she gave me a bite, I immediately regretted not getting my own. I ended up with the Pittsburgher (also pictured), and it was outstanding, one of those sandwiches you keep thinking about afterward. Visited the Speakeasy recently with the family. Upon arrival around lunchtime, we were immediately seated and given water and menus. Our waitress was very friendly. The ambience didn't seem much like a speakeasy. It was more like a regular bar/restaurant. For lunch, I requested fish tacos and sweet potato fries. As an appetizer, we shared some nachos, which had a very tasty cheese sauce on them. A while later, the food was delivered. Everyone enjoyed their meals. My fish tacos each had a large piece of fish in them. The fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly, was flaky, and delicious. My sweet potato fries were a little overcooked, but still pretty good. Highly recommend that dish. My daughter's soup of the day (chicken & rice) missed the mark. But her club sandwich was the size of her head! If we're in Harrisburg, we'll visit again. My son actually found this place for us while we were trying to escape a rainy day, and it was a fantastic find. The vibe was incredible--the music was top-notch, and it honestly felt like we had stepped right into a great pub in Dublin. The food was absolutely awesome with a surprisingly great variety. We had the poutine, the Cuban sandwich, and the prime rib (which came as these amazing, tender chunks of meat), and every single bite was yummy. I also really want to give a special shoutout to our bartender/waitress. I completely forgot to catch her name, but she was a wonderfully nice woman, seemed so engaging maybe part of family ownership, who gave us outstanding service and made us feel right at home. Don't you love it when Plan B feels so much better. In town for business and looking for a late night place to eat. Plan A was unexpectedly closed. So of course I turn to Yelp for the bail out. Found this absolute amazing place. The ambience was like no other. Felt like an old and beautiful house. Full size bar. Plenty on tap. And just the perfect vibe after a long commute in from LAX. Natasha served us and she was amazing. Friendly. Attentive. Had no problem separating the checks among my team. Food was delicious and generous. Went midday with my partner and father after moving into town. It was pretty crowded on a Saturday, which was to be expected. There was loud music playing. It was a short wait to find a seat. Prices were a bit high, but I enjoyed the burger and fries I ordered, and everyone at my table also had great food! I really enjoyed the fries and self-loathing burger. Was in town for the night and this spot was recommended by a local bartender. The outdoor deck was packed and the inside was just as full, though I managed to find a seat at the bar. Right away, I noticed how hot it was inside, and it only got worse the longer I stayed. I ordered one beer, service was quick and friendly despite the crowd. This spot has a great atmosphere with an easy, laid-back vibe. The people are welcoming, the food is good--borderline top-tier--and the drinks are creative and well executed. The cocktails alone are worth the visit. The bartenders really know their craft, and the alcohol selection, including local beers, is solid. My only real issue is brunch. Every time I've visited after 12 p.m. (brunch is served until 2 p.m.), there's been a problem--either they're no longer taking food orders, the kitchen is backed up with a 45-minute wait, or they've simply run out of food. It comes off unprofessional and could definitely be handled better. I've noticed this becoming a growing trend during brunch service in general, and while some people suggest arriving as early as 10 a.m. for the best experience, consistency matters. If you're offering brunch, you should be properly staffed and prepared to serve guests throughout the full service window. Period. It's especially frustrating when you've traveled specifically to experience their culinary offerings and hit a wall like that. Overall, if you're looking for a spot that feels like a New York-style dive bar with elevated drinks and solid food--if you catch it at the right time--this place delivers. A great place where everyone is welcome! We'd visited Sturges a couple times over the years, but recently stopped by twice in one weekend for live music and brunch.  While there are many positives about Sturges, the best part is the amazing service! The servers, bartenders, and everyone else we interacted with were friendly, professional and treated us like regulars. This great service really made an impression, especially when they were packed and still had a great attitude.  The interior has a rustic pub feel with large bar seating and tables. On the second floor is additional table seating and a large outdoor deck.  The food is amazing!  On the Thursday night visit we had the poutine (best around), the BLT(my wife is still talking about how delicious it was) and the Noble Experiment sandwich. Sunday brunch brought a variety of mouth watering eggs benedict with some perfect mimosas. A good beer selection is available and the old fashioned we tried was spot on. Even though I'm not here often and I'm not local anymore, it's a must go when I'm in town. very cool little speakeasy with incredible food and great staff. If you're going on Sunday for brunch, I highly recommend the Cajun shrimp and grits. They're incredible! If you're going for some late night bar food, get the Reuben with a side of sweet potato fries, and a Bavarian pretzel for your appetizer. You won't be disappointed! What a great little place! Driving thru Harrisburg much later than planned, we looked for a spot to eat. Another recommended place was closed that day. Lucky for us. I met a friend here for dinner. We have been here before and always enjoy our meals and the atmosphere. Codey was our server and he made the night lots of fun! He checked on us just enough, had a playful banter and was very attentive to our needs. I asked if they could make me white sangria. He got it done with some muddled blueberries. It was fresh and delicious. We shared the salsa and guacamole for an appetizer. The portions were plentiful and the guacamole and the salsa had great flavors. The chips were nice and crunchy. I got the house salad with grilled chicken.. I could've had grilled chicken or blackened. The white balsamic vinaigrette is delicious! My only complaint was that the plate was way too small for the size of the salad. Every time I would try to cut the chicken, lettuce would go everywhere. We were in town for an event, and it was late, and this place had great reviews and was open. Well, the reviews were accurate! Friendly, attentive service with delicious food. We had the Cuban and Turkey burger with American instead of pepper Jack. That's the first time I ever tasted a cuban, and it was fresh and delicious. I have to say, the turkey burger was one of the best I have had out in a restaurant. The sides were their fresh cut fries and smashed garlic red potatoes, also delicious. My daughter had the kid's meal mac & cheese which she also loved. We had a long commute ahead, so we did not partake in the bar selections, but the bar definitely seem to have good options. My experience at this establishment was not it and if I could rate it with zero stars, I would. My friends and I decided to stop for dinner here at around 8 p.m. on Sunday 5/18/2025. I ordered the Seasonal Salmon and instead of the green beans, I decided I would get a fruit cup. This decision is one I wish I never made. The lighting inside is dim. While eating my meal, I ate the fruit on the side and with the apples looking a bit brown, I should've already been on alert since this is a sign of being served fruit that was NOT fresh. Halfway through this fruit cup, I noticed that one of the blueberries I was about to eat had MOLD. MOLD ALL OVER THE FRUIT. I was appalled and shocked. I showed my friends and we had to shine a light on it just to double check. To my dismay, the other smaller blueberries at the bottom of the cup ALSO had mold. I brought this issue to the attention of my server. She takes my plate with the blueberry and tells me she needs to show her manager. After a few minutes, she returns with my plate and looks me in the eye and says "It's just a blueberry." I literally had to shine my phone flashlight on the blueberry in order for her to see it... but she really came back and told me, "My manager and I took a look at it and it's just a blueberry, but I can take $4 off your meal for the fruit cup." I have never in my life been into a restaurant where they don't own up to their mistakes nor acknowledge what is clearly in front of them. She really tried to GASLIGHT me even after I showed her the big molded spot with the white fuzz showing. THAT IS INSANE. Fortunately, they took off $4 frickin dollars off of the meal, but I could've gotten sick since I ate half of the fruit cup already. I truly do not recommend this place at all, whatsoever. Honestly, eat here at your own risk. Aside from the mold, the food also wasn't even good. The salmon was only lightly seasoned, and the rice was dry. I would say the only saving grace for the Seasonal Salmon dish was the sauce. 2/10 rating for the flavor. Unfortunately, since I was very angry and did not want to cause a scene, I paid and left without taking photo evidence. But I know mold when I see it. So as I have said, eat here at your own risk. read more

Best club sandwich in all of Harrisburg and from what I observed nobody left hungry. Our server was wonderful. The club came with some of the best fries. It is a very old building, so it was cold inside, but a glass of wine and a beer for my better half helped. Would recommend this restaurant and you will not be disappointed. read more

My husband, daughter (13 years old) & I went to Sturges for dinner this evening (Thursday). We sat upstairs on the deck outside as it was a nice, cool evening. Upon arriving you can tell this is a local favorite as it was brimming with customers both inside & out. As we arrived there was a musician setting up for live music that the restaurant hosts on Thursday nights. We ordered Buffalo wings, Caesar salad, Bavarian Pretzel (all 3 my daughter & I split) & Spanish Meatloaf (my husband ordered). The food was good - not anything that necessarily knocked our socks off, but overall it was a good meal. Our waiter, Cody, was top notch! We watched 3 people slip and fall on their floor . I don't know what is making their floors so darn slippery. I know drinking alcohol doesn't help with balance . The final act was when a women who was walking down the steps by the bar slipped and fell . She did'nt get up like the others . Ownership should look into why the floors are so slippery . I met some friends here for happy hour on a Friday. Parking was right out front on the main road on Forster St. I paid the meter just in case the meter maids were out. When I walked inside, I asked where the outside seating was and a hostess promptly led me way upstairs and showed me the dart room, bathrooms, and then walked out to the deck area. We were the only ones there which was kind of cool. They have a bar, but there was nobody was doing service at the time. Our waiter was fantastic! Very attentive & personable. This was a cool bar restaurant in what seems like downtown Harrisburg, PA. No free parking offered, however, you can use the app to pay for parking. Social distancing, mask, and hand hygiene was practice by the staff. All staff were friendly and accommodating. I got the the Pittsburgher with tater tots. The name for the burger reminded me of Bob's burgers. This burger is massive. It had fried jalapeños, a fried egg, blue cheese, fried onions, bacon and french fries. The burger was definitely juicy and almost felt like a challenge burger because it took some work to get through it. The flavor of the burger came less from seasonings and more so from the ingredients that made the burger up. The tots were magnificent pieces of golden crisp potatoes that were perfectly seasoned. I would definitely like to try out more items on their list to see what other great items they have with them. read more

I love this place. We just picked it out for a dinner stop on a long trip. It's just a few miles off route 81. First, it has an authentic Manhattan-like old Irish bar feel that I relish. Service was quick and very friendly. I had salmon with a dill sauce. I asked for medium and it was perfect with a delicious fresh sauce and roasted asparagus. My husband had the October fest special sausage platter - bratwurst, knock wurst, and kielbasa I think with perfect spaetzle(sp?) and an amazing hot German potato salad. There was enough to box some which is saying a lot because my husband can eat. Oh, and the calamari appetizer was spot on - very tender and fresh with a sweet chili sauce. I loved how the waiter brought it out quickly so I didn't have to watch my husband eat his garden salad, which was huge and fresh. I will definitely try to stop by on our road trips.
