The staff is wonderful and the food is delicious. It brings back a lot of good memories from my childhood.

Yummmm was headed to the base on Indian Head and noticed all of these parked cars on the side of the road so you know I had to check it out. Yummmm best salmon cake I've had in a while. The potatoes were a little salty for my taste and they were. Nice and crispy. If I have to go down there I will stop again. We came here for an early breakfast, and we ordered: +country fried steak - don't forget to get some fried onions to top your country fried steak! I just wished they had some type of a gravy, though +corned beef hash +chicken & cheese sub - I wasn't a fan of the chicken & cheese, but the hubs was - it was more than enough food that he also had enough for lunch the following day! +1 pancake - this was large and fluffy; super tasty! Very small homey, little restaurant, where everybody seemed to know everyone else. The waiters were all very nice and welcoming as well. It took a while for the food to come out and for the them to get us a check, but that's to be expected at such a small spot. I got the breakfast plate with a fish cake, potatoes, and scrambled eggs. The food wasn't amazing per se, but it was decent, and well cooked. I tried my mom's scrapple, and that was probably the best thing there. Such a tiny, cozy, bit run down, old place with many counter seats and tables. Everyone know everyone except for me. I was the new face but everyone was SUPER friendly especially the employees! They were very efficient and work so well together but above all, the food was hot, fresh, and seasoned enough to where all i needed were a bit of salt and pepper. The grits were buttery, creamy, and hot, the fish was pipping hot, lightly coated; and crispy. I had this place randomly as I visited a friend who lived close by. The ladies are so nice in there and I loved their service. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich which was pretty good. Stopped in for lunch on a Friday. Place was filled with local regulars and we definitely stood out. It took about 10 minutes to be acknowledged and receive menus. Once we had menus the waitress turned out to be pretty good. She must have been on a break or something (there's a sign on the door about being closed Mondays because they don't have enough help). There was one lady working the grill, and she was swamped but also not working efficiently. It took about 25 minutes to get our food as she prepared each order individually including some to-go meals before she got to our ticket. Unfortunately, two of us ordered burgers and she put them on the grill as soon as she got the ticket then worked on other meals. So after 25 minutes sitting on the griddle, the burgers had become scorched hockey pucks. Others at our table who got breakfast food did better...pancakes and sausage were OK; scrambled eggs were a little burned; grits were average but served piping hot. Got a little uncomfortable when the chef and the regulars started voicing political opinions. Small place so no way to avoid having to hear that kind of claptrap. read more

Classic example of "looks can be deceiving" and by that I mean - it's a sorta hole in the wall type joint that I'm sure most people would avoid based on the appearance. It was a little shady at first but when we walked in we were greeted with smiles and hellos. We sat at the counter on the barstools with a perfect view at the grill chef. He was methodical as he quickly worked through the made-to-order tickets. The customer next to me sparked a friendly conversation about life. It reminded me of an old school diner that could be on Diners, Drive-in and Dives. Definitely not fancy but a good old rusty spoon. I was so hopeful because of all the high ratings on this place but my omelet was so so bland and filled with canned mushrooms, no real time spent sautéing the veggies. Then my toast was cold, like they have a whole bunch of pre made toast at the start of the day. Coffee was nothing special and grits were nothing special. Very good. This diner is definitely one you'd drive right past if not paying attention. The 2 ladies working , Elizabeth and Cicily( I believe) were very friendly. Food was made quick and delish! I ordered scrapple eggs and 2 pancakes. Pancakes were huge, would of been fine with just 1 but my eyes have always been bigger than my stomach. It wasn't busy but as I sat there I noticed most patrons were being called their names which gives you a more homey feel. I will definitely be returning with my family. read more
