a sign for lunch box diner

The Lunch Box is a tasty little gem of a diner, where you can definitely get your breakfast fix! We came here for an early breakfast, and we ordered: +country fried steak - don't forget to get some fried onions to top your country fried steak! I just wished they had some type of a gravy, though +corned beef hash +chicken & cheese sub - I wasn't a fan of the chicken & cheese, but the hubs was - it was more than enough food that he also had enough for lunch the following day! +1 pancake - this was large and fluffy; super tasty! The breakfast platters came with a side of eggs, home fries (you can ask for these to be deep-fried - YAS!), and your choice of toast, while the sub came with a side of chips Staff here are welcoming and kind, and provides service with a smile; I recommend in you sitting up at the counter. They have a small lot to park your car, but there's also plenty of street parking. +deep-fried home fries! +tasty pancakes! +friendly service! +plenty of parking on the street and in their small lot +ask for counter seating

Very small homey, little restaurant, where everybody seemed to know everyone else. The waiters were all very nice and welcoming as well. It took a while for the food to come out and for the them to get us a check, but that's to be expected at such a small spot. I got the breakfast plate with a fish cake, potatoes, and scrambled eggs. The food wasn't amazing per se, but it was decent, and well cooked. I tried my mom's scrapple, and that was probably the best thing there. Overall, the restaurant had a very welcoming homey type vibe, and the food fit the restaurant.

Such a tiny, cozy, bit run down, old place with many counter seats and tables. Everyone know everyone except for me. I was the new face but everyone was SUPER friendly especially the employees! They were very efficient and work so well together but above all, the food was hot, fresh, and seasoned enough to where all i needed were a bit of salt and pepper. The grits were buttery, creamy, and hot, the fish was pipping hot, lightly coated; and crispy. This place is five minutes from house and that was my first time there and i been in the area for almost 20 years but I DEFINITELY will go back for breakfast and lunch!

I had this place randomly as I visited a friend who lived close by. The ladies are so nice in there and I loved their service. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich which was pretty good. The only thing is wrapping it up in aluminum foil made my bread a tad soggy but other than that I would eat here again.

Diners are the best thing a community can have. This diner has been here even before I moved to the community 20yrs ago. Hot openfaced sandwiches here are my faves. I have walked to this diner for breakfast and back. Breakfasts are large portions. The fact that it is not commercial is the best. I hope this stays up and running.

More like 3 and 1/2 Stars…read more I didn't purchase these these were provided for me at the job site. I liked the ube donut very creamy but it's not the style of donut that I enjoy. I prefer more cake based as opposed to filling style. The exception would be jelly filled but these cream filled ones just don't do it for me Overall I like the unique flavors that they have but it's not something that I see myself going out of my way to try again. I prefer donut connection.

We asked about the prices on the donuts and were a little concerned, but honestly figured they must be boutique. We decided on a half dozen donuts... regardless of the type of donut you got the price was the same. By noon, there were about 15 different donuts left that they had stock of. 4 vegan ones. The donuts are about the size of a baseball in circumference. Nowadays, social media is all about size and color, this place is extremely lacking in the size department. The best donut we tried from here was a vegan coconut one, and the bake on it was a slightly different texture than the other donuts. Honestly, the only reason this place got a second star is cuz of the coconut one. Texture was actually correct and not doughy. The other 5 donuts were as follows in order of taste and textures and actual baking: cinnamon n sugar, then everything with bacon, then Homer, then pandan, then Boston cream. I should have just made donuts at home with this place being as expensive as it was. The Boston cream custard was runny af, so either add a starch slurry or slow heat and actually make it simmer to make the custard cook correctly. Like you all know this, but you CANNOT charge 4.25$ per "specialty" donut and have very bad technique. The texture of all the donuts were somewhere between a light cake-like donut and a ball of raw dough. The Vietnamese coffee was meh. We will not be back. Next time, I will just go to Safeway and buy a half dozen of day old donuts that are randomly placed in a box and slightly better baked than this place and be reminded when I only pay 5$ for the box that I won't be as disappointed as I was on kevins birthday by stopping here. No pictures, I dont like having terrible memories on my phone. Waste of 31$ for a pick your own 6 pack and an iced pint of Vietnamese coffee. Jake n kev

First Fridays are clearly a big deal there because the place was packed, the Gogo band was good, and the atmosphere was fun. I ended up sitting at the bar instead of getting a table and ordered a drink for myself, a drink for my cousin, and some shrimp. The food and drinks were actually good, so I can definitely see why people like coming here. What frustrated me was the pricing and gratuity situation. After looking at the menu, I saw it mentioned a 20% gratuity for parties of four or more, so I didn't think that applied to me since I was sitting at the bar with no table. I even asked the waitress if I could order food at the bar and she said yes, but nobody explained there would still be an automatic gratuity added. The drinks were $12 each and the bang bang shrimp were $13, so I was confused when my total came out to almost $50 and not realizing I added additional to the tip. I had to ask for the receipt multiple times before I finally saw the gratuity charge unbeknownst to me. I think the restaurant/menu needs to be a lot more upfront and clear about when gratuity is automatically added... and that's whether it's for First Fridays, live bands, bar service, or anything else. Being surprised by service fees, automatic gratuity or any hidden fee not clearly mentioned, for me, can leave a bad impression even when the food and atmosphere are good. As a small business, there are already stereotypes and complaints people make about hidden fees and pricing, and situations like this unfortunately don't help that narrative. With that said, I still plan to come back because I genuinely enjoyed the music, food, and overall vibe. I just wish the pricing and gratuity policies were communicated more clearly from the beginning... especially in this economy!

The service was a wonderful: swift, gracious, and, most unusually, kind enough to bring the food directly to our table. The line to order moved quickly, which made the experience here all the more lovely. Their breakfast pastries and desserts are beautifully varied and tempting. I had the egg, cheese and chorizo croissant which was buttery soft fluffy and most importantly deliciously filling. The ambiance is cozy, modern French chic, yet still family-friendly. Grounded Coffee is an elegant little refuge among the hustle and bustle, where you can sit at the long tables, a couch, or a table and linger over coffee, do a bit of work, and nibble a pastry as though time had politely agreed to wait.

The Croque Monsier was delicious; the ultimate grilled cheese with smoked Gouda, Gruyère, ham, and topped off with a creamy mornay sauce. The sandwich just oozed with cheese. Next time I'll get it to go and have it with tomato soup. Then I had a plain cappuccino which was slightly bitter and smooth. They have so much to choose from; a bakery and a wine bar. Next on my list is the short rib panini, the raspberry cream bear claw along with a few other items. It's a lovely place to have lunch and get work done. The noise level was low and parking was plenty. Truly an amazing escape!
