Overcharged for every single item purchased, on top of additional overcharge on tax.

They false advertise their pricing on everything you purchase here. Every item we purchased, even add on's like the bacon and jalapeños, had additional cost than listed on all of their displays. Every item was overcharged ranging from .07¢-.54¢. We have ate here before but I did not pay attention to the pricing because I was not given a receipt last time. So who knows how long they have been overcharging customers. But we will not be returning due to the false advertising on pricing.

Old menu prices ($15 price point is perfect here)

First off, I want to say that everyone's review I read on this place is random and everywhere. Some extremely good and some too messed up and exaggerating the hate. Theres gotta be an even balance and im not here to bash. I had their mac bowls, and for now its a 2 star. It may improve in the future as Im going to give it another try and taste the burgers, and burritos, possibly different flavor macs as well. Based solely on the mac bowl, i got the flamin cheeto, and the house mac Good taste, not exceptional, but thats based on preference. Their sauce texture was awesome. The cheesy and gooeyness was perfect. Not gritty like some are claiming. Unless the cheese curdled for sitting too long for them trying to keep it warm, as mine was made fresh for sure. Or maybe the people that said it was gritty have no idea what a freaking panko bread crumb is.. LOL! The chicken was breaded and crispy, cooked to perfection, as were the noodles al dente. Lady at the register was sweet, truck might possibly be family owned. But seemed like she couldnt make a decision on her own in terms of customer service, or rectify any small issue and from what I read in reviews as well is a similar issue for others. I knew the guy in the back was the owner but he stayed quiet when I voiced my concern or question. As i waited for my food he came out and checked his menu to make sure to either "cover their tracks" or make sure i wasnt trying to jip them with what im about to show/express in the review to come- Taste was a 5-6/10. Very rich and almost too much after eating 1/4 of it. It was missing something for sure. What is it? I have a few ideas or suggestions as how to make the taste better rounded while giving that boldness from the cheese. On the menu, prices were advertised as one thing and realized at the end of my order I was paying $5 more than what I was supposed to pay. 1st ding- Referencing the receipt and my images, the menu said the "house" mac was $12. Im being charged .60 cents more per bowl. 2nd ding- "Add chicken $4." Receipt shows $10.70 for two bowls. $2.70 extra. $5.35 for a few pc of chicken was a steal! From my wallet. 3rd ding- Flamin chicken Bowl was an extra .60 cents a bowl as well. Close to $5 extra for something advertised on a menu for less. Not cool. If there is a service fee for using the credit card, put it at the end like everyone else that sells food @3.5%. Not 10%. I know selling food is a hustle, hard work, need to make sure you sell a certain amount. Rent for location, truck payment, insurances, overhead, payroll, etc. PLEASE.. please! Be considerate to your folk in the central valley. The bowl is expensive alone, for the amount of food received. Wasnt a whole lot, but enough to fill me and fill my wife for a few hours. Teach your register lady/cook she can give a small discount, or amend the mix up. I didnt wanna push her to give me a discount, or my money back because Im not a jerk. I am the type of guy that gives tips in trucks/restaurants where they cater to me. Depending the tabs, 20-40% just bc I know what it is to work in those situations. Its fun. But very hard work and draining. The clean up isnt too fun. And tips always make it worth it as a cash incentive. HOWEVER.. due to hidden charges I saw quickly, I did not offer a tip or take out my wallet to put a $10 bill im their jar. Knowing what the food business is. Margins are incredibly good and you wont lose money on lowering add on chicken by 1.50 or lowering price of a bowl to $15 flat rate. Its less money in your pocket business owner, in simple math. But its better to sell 400 bowls at $3 clean profit in your wallet than to only sell 50 bowls at $6.5 worth of profit. Price of everything has gone up but not that much, and restaurants get it for less since you bulk buy. Not impressed with this truck though everyone was super hyping it up on social media and friends around me. Will not be recommending it in the near future. Review- Taste 6/10 Price 5/10 Service 6/10 Portions (to price ratio) 5/10 Customer friendly 6/10 Ambiance is a lot sharing tables with other trucks 5/10 (wont be included in final review to judge overall points for the truck) Overall (28/50) Im going to give the truck a couple more tries and see if other items offer any redemption. Thanks for reading!

    Double Smash with grilled jalapeños
    Matt J.

I've been telling all my friends about the smash burgers. I get the double smash with grilled jalapeños. Hands down best smash burger I've ever had. Bun is soft, meat is good, cheese and sauce are tasty and the grilled onions and jalapeños give it just the right kick.

The flavor was good but overall it wasn't the best, the burger was supper soggy sadly :(

    Asada Mac fries

Went with my coworkers for lunch and ordered Asada Mac fries and did not get that. What I did get was a nasty hamburger patty on top of mushy fries if you want call them fries and a drizzle of hot mayonnaise topped with jalapeños and hot Chito crumbs, which I didn't mind so that's why I am willing to give them a 1 star.

One afternoon in Hayward, my family and I showed up right at 6 PM, exactly at closing time. We had just left a family party but purposely held our appetite because our favorite Puerto Rican food truck was finally back in town. My wife and I were married in Old San Juan, and Puerto Rico will always hold a special place in our hearts. We even travel back to the island with our kids whenever we can. When Chef Darren saw how disappointed we were that we had missed them, he didn't turn us away. Even though they were already closed, he fired the grill back up and blessed our family with an incredible meal. That level of hospitality, heart, and genuine Puerto Rican warmth is rare. The food was absolutely amazing as always, authentic flavors that instantly take us back to the island, but the kindness and service meant even more to us. We'll always support Boriqua Kitchen. But if you're like me, and just hella sensitive to spicy foods, you gotta exercise caution with this one. My partner and I got food to go, two loaded burritos (one pakora fish, the other chicken masala), a Naan Chalupa with paneer masala, and a chai horchata! It did take about 30 minutes for it all to come together; but I urge you to remember that 'food truck' means 'mobile' and not 'fast food.' Good things come to those who wait! The Chai Horchata is SO GOOD! Like drinking a gingerbread cookie made especially for you by your grandma. I would go back for that alone. In fact, I regret not getting two because I'd definitely have delighted in not having to share. Swing by for that alone. Now the food? My partner ordered everything mild; which has got to be a relative thing because both burritos and the chalupa had such heat that I couldn't take more than a few bites of any of them before my mouth felt like it was on fire! I wish that I had any sort of tolerance because everything was so flavorful; incredibly flavorful! Just too dang hot for my wimpy tastebuds! The loaded chicken burrito was the messier of the two--downright greasy so be prepared! Ask for extra napkins or have some on standby if you take it to go. I'm coming back for you, Sizlin' Masala! Maybe not right away, but I'm coming back! Your food is so good! I just have to build up my spicy-heat-tolerance first!

It is located off a newly renovated street where new high rise development were put in to increase dwelling density and foot traffic. It is not quite there yet, but I can see where this is going. It is held in this square near a business park so there is plenty of parking. There is a grassy square where families like to lounge with picnic blankets and lawn chairs. There's usually a dj dishing out tunes, a beer and wine tent, and about 8-10 food trucks lined up in an organized fashion. It goes every Friday in the warm months so from May to October. If a holiday pops up on a Friday like 4th of July they will skip it. Starts at 5pm and goes to about 9pm. Bulk of the crowd goes from 6:30 - 8. I go to about 2-4 per year since 2017, with the exception of 2020 cuz y'all know why. You can see the food truck line up each week on their website or socials. So I like to scan that and if it looks promising then I'll text some friends/family if anyone wants to meet up after work on Friday. If the weather is nice, it is just a just a festive and social way to start a summer's weekend. Now even tho I like these events I don't always like food truck food. Sure it is trendy and you do get to sample and /or get stuff brought to you in one area. But I often just find many of the food to be just average at best at prices that rival sit down dining. So to me I like scoping these out occasionally but I don't think they are worth going to on a frequent basis. I also feel that there aren't enough places to sit and eat once you get your food from a truck. There is a small area where they put out portable picnic benches, but those fill up with just 20 people or so. Otherwise you have to sit on the lawn and come prepared with blanket or lawn chair, or find a concrete planter box to sit on, or go back to your car to eat. Another reason why food trucks events often leave me hanging. But bring a warm typical Bay Area summer's evening where it doesn't get dark til almost 9pm and you want to be amongst your community and commerce, this event will do you more than fine.

There were about 8 food trucks to choose from, along with a few random vendor/service tents (like Bass Pro Shops). Decided on sliders and garlic fries from the Curveball food truck. The food was okay, good enough to satisfy my hunger (see my separate review on that). I snagged one of the few spots in the grass with shade on this hot evening, though they also have tables and seating here, partially shaded too. An actual restroom (not porta potties) on site, in the Fremont downtown event center building. Also, plenty of space available in the parking lot. I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.

Great texture, topped with pork sung and crispy cabbage, plus katsu sauce and Japanese mayo. Savory, crunchy, and satisfying. Sumo Dog: Japanese curry beef chili with cheese and fresh scallions. Hearty, comforting, and perfect for that chilly evening. Fried Foods: We didn't try, any but they serve fries and potstickers too. SPARK Social SF is one of those places we end up at again and again, usually without overplanning…read moreit. It just works. Open air, a mix of food trucks, people hanging out, dogs everywhere, and that easy San Francisco energy where you can show up however you are and it fits. It never feels like a production, just a good place to land. We have eaten our way through a decent chunk of the trucks at this point, and that is half the fun. One day it is something messy and indulgent, the next it is lighter, but it always hits. Grabbing a drink, finding a spot at the picnic tables, and slowly settling in as the place fills up is kind of the rhythm. It is social without being overwhelming, lively without being chaotic. What keeps us coming back is how consistent it feels in the best way. It is easy, flexible, and always a good time whether you stay for an hour or lose an entire afternoon there. It is the kind of spot that turns into a routine before you even realize it, and honestly, we are not mad about it.

Spark Social is a great place to host an event. Big ones (company-sponsored), small ones (a group…read moreof friends huddling at a table), really any of them, because they have a couple different set ups that are open for reservations, but they can also accommodate walk-ins with the abundance of seating. Beyond that, the food and drinks are all food truck based. They are all quite good, and there's a wide variety of items. This also means a good variety for folks with different dietary needs, because they are mostly picking their own food. I have always enjoyed my time here, whether it's on company dime or if I'm just hanging out with friends. I do wish that there are more heaters around for the colder days but that's just life in the bay! It can be kind of cold and foggy all seasons here, so if you have a solid group of folks I'd recommend reserving a spot with a fire pit. One more note: parking can be tough. You either have to circle around for street parking, or rideshare here.
