    French dip
    Menghai T.

Decided to swing by here for lunch as a colleague recommended this spot. I got the French Dip ($16) and it came out in about 15 minutes. The bread was crispy and the steak and cheese on it was also good. The au jus was beefy and helped add extra flavor to the sub. I was happy with the portion size where it filled me up without feeling to bloated. Staff was very friendly. Overall a good experience that I would recommend checking out. I like the outdoor seating and the ambiance. I saw they have a schedule of live music but it wasn't the day we went. Maybe weekends? Fish tacos are excellent!

As you can see from my past three reviews dating back to 2022 this is one of my local favorites for good quality local pub cuisine. I will summarize my two most recent visits here for dinner. When my family of four firstly arrived for dinner we were lucky to score a table outside to the left of the main restaurant because the weather here in August was very nice. I enjoyed my Rosemary old-fashioned with Buffalo Trace, angostura bitters, homemade rosemary simple syrup, Luxardo cherry and orange slice for $14. I also enjoyed my tuna tartare with ahi tuna rolled in an Asian infused sauce, stacked on diced avocado and served with egg roll wrappers for $19. I ended my dinner with my favorite pint of draft Guinness for $9.50. See my pics. My total bill was $154 excluding gratuity. Tegan O. served us very well. We returned here again for dinner with my family of five on Sunday. The place was not packed so we sat at a table 998 for five in the middle. I started with a Maker's Mark Manhattan for $14 and ended my dinner with a draft Guinness for $9.50. I enjoyed my homemade chicken and sausage gumbo with a round mound of white rice sitting on top of the gumbo for $19. I love their seasonal gumbo, which I enjoyed a couple of times last Fall/Winter as well. My total bill was $205 excluding gratuity. Robert F. served us very well as usual. We will continue to return here for dinner, especially my favorite gumbo.

Went to Main Street Pub for the first time yesterday. It's in beautiful downtown Clifton by the railroad. They have a general store right at the front of the pub. Seating area in the front and on the side of the restaurant. We wanted to sit outside but since there was a wait we decided to sit inside. The service was very good, the food was very good also. We ordered boneless chicken wings, The Greek chicken wrap , chicken Caesar Wrap and Fish and Chips. Everyone was happy with their meal. My only complaint is that the restaurant wasn't as clean as it should be. I hope the management take that into consideration .

I've actually never eaten in the Clifton area cause I felt like the parking would be ridiculous if it was busy which lowkey it was. Good thing about this restaurant was it's across from a church parking lot as well as some parking availability behind the spot. I met up with some friends here and holy cow, that Mac and cheese burger was so bomb with a side of sweet potato fries. The fish tacos were amazeballs too, it was very flavorful with a small kick of spicy , which personally I enjoyed. I would like to add that our waitor was so sweet and made sure we were taken care of. I will be coming back here SOON

Note: S/C: CC Surcharge. Not disclosed and charged even though we paid cash.

Total disaster; rude server, cold/stale beef stew and mash potatoes that were hard and looked like they had been sitting out all day with the burner turned off. Totally unappetizing. Charged credit card fee when I paid cash. No apology or check on us while they did so repeatedly for other tables. And no offer to replace the order or choose something else. In retrospect, glad they didn't. Frustrating because when I placed our order I explicitly asked if my stew could be very hot. Worse the server tried to tell me the lukewarm food was steaming. Not a good feeling to implicitly be called a liar. Seems only locals are welcome. The front desk staff asked if I wanted to speak to Kevin. I said no thanks but left my number as she requested, to share my experience both good and bad. He called and said we don't need customers like you. And that the rude server told him not to bother to talk with me. Wow! And then he started texting me that I am not welcome. Don't worry my friend and I will never be back. Had to block him for continuing to harass and text me.

Looks like a gas station but it's a pub.

The Main Street Pub is in a charming green building by the railroad tracks in downtown Clifton. For years the building used to house the Clifton Store, where I bought candy when I could sneak away from home. Today, there is an adorable little pub in the building serving upscale sandwiches and beverages. There are a dozen or so tables and two more outside the front door. We were seated quickly by Katie, who was also our server. A Crabcakes sandwich was one of the July specials, made with fresh lump crab cake. The sandwich was served with lettuce, tomato and an aioli sauce. It was absolutely delicious. The beer battered fries were also wonderful and crispy. I had a cup of the Gazpacho soup, which was refreshing and delicious on a hot summer day. The food is a hit in my book. Katie was attentive and friendly. There is limited street parking and some on the side of the building. I think you could sit outside with a dog. I recommend highly if you're in the area.

We came here on Saturday night. It was full but they told us that we could go outside to the patio. It was cold but there was a large live fire. Also the server gave us blankets. The service was a little slow but they were also crowded. The workers were nice and friendly. Our food was delicious. We ordered breaded pickles appetizer. We ordered avocado bacon burger, Mac and cheese burger, and Main Street burger. It was all very good. They had good Christmas decorations and nice Christmas music playing. I highly recommend coming here. It was good. Maybe next sit inside...

My interpretation of the gist of what everyone was complaining about was that they used to come here all the time (as did I years ago, but it's been a year since being here) and they didn't like the new, slimmed down menu... and they definitely hated the prices here now. Our service was ok, nothing special. I feel like the majority of the servers are very young and might not have the training, nor experience to understand what true service is, not just taking orders and bringing food. The menu was nice. We liked their "Everyday is Sunday" section of the menu, so we tried 2 orders (4 persons) of the pork chop tomahawk and 1 order (2 persons) of the Côte de Boeuf. We started with their Scotch Egg - WOW! Really flavorful with a great texture, inside and out. Definitely a very nice way to start. Cocktails and wine were a hit here for sure! Especially Jarad's G&T, which we got a couple of. Main dishes were great! Plenty of food too!! The spices on the crust of the porkchop tomahawk were so tasty and the temperature was spot-on! The steak in the Côte de Boeuf was incredible! Perfectly seasoned and at that absolute perfect temperature too! The carrots that came with this were very nicely done, but the potatoes stole the show! This dish came with OUTSTANDING Fondant potatoes... They had a great, smokey flavor to them, as if they were basted in pork fat. The meat was perfectly textured and flavored. Overall - While this is no longer the Hunter's Head that many came to know, love, and enjoy, I feel they're doing a decent job here. I'll definitely return, as I want to try their fish & chips!

No, this was a full-blown culinary Six Flags experience that left me both speechless and deeply emotional. First Stop: Southwest Egg Rolls These bad boys arrived at my table looking like they just got back from a food modeling gig--crispy, golden, and filled with a spicy, cheesy, Tex-Mex magic that made my taste buds sing mariachi music. One bite in, and I could practically hear the tortilla whisper, "Welcome to Flavor Town, amigo." The creamy dipping sauce? Absolute sorcery. I ended up biking and there's a bike stand really close by. My friend was craving fish and chips, so we ventured out this way. Because we came on a Thursday they had a deal going where if you ordered a pie, you could get a beer for free. Of course I had to partake, so I ordered the special pie, which was a masala, chicken, curry pie, and it was quite good. A bit small for the price point but with the beer included totally worth it also because their fries are so good. I could demolish over a pound of those fries. They were thick potato and maybe the extra added bonus of having to use a glass ketchup bottle added to it. My friend and I were also taught how to properly hit the ketchup bottle to get the ketchup out by the bartender. You find the 57 on the bottle at an angle and bump you palm there that instead of hitting the bottom and hoping and praying that ketchup comes out. It actually worked or at least it was more efficient than trying to hit the bottom of the bottle upside down. I had never had a hand pumped beer before, but it was quite good. They are a warm beer rotating and it was quite good, it especially paired well with the pie or fish and chips.
