I've been coming here since it opened. I was initially hooked on the white bb sauce wings until they were discontinued. Now I opt for the half Cobb salad topped with medium well salmon. If I'm in the mood for an appetizer, the tuna dip is always an excellent choice. I tried the shrimp and grits and it was yummy. My 8 year old loves the hamburgers, and not the kiddie burger. She eats half and takes the other half for lunch the next day. For dessert, the peach cobbler is an amazing choice. The drinks are always great- - Porch swing for the win! read more

Manship was a fun lunch stop. On Monday they have a country fried steak special ($12) that came with mashed potatoes and one side. We got the braised greens and they were *delicious* with their tangy sweet flavor. We also got a margherita pizza, which was kind of a miss in my book. Essentially a soggy cheese pizza with burnt whole basil leaves on top. We'll be back for happy hour when pizzas are half price and drinks are discounted to try another type. As for the bar- that is one of the most extensive bourbon selections I've ever seen. You could get a pour of almost any whisky you've been eyeing to try. One star docked for the lackluster pizza and the cold hostess. We walked in and weren't told a thing. Just ignored until someone motioned for us to follow them. read more

I found the menu to be very limited and not very exciting. I ordered the blackened redfish wrap - it literally had blackened redfish INSIDE a wrap with sauce. That's it. They brought the food out a all different times so no one could start eating, food got cold, finally everyone had something to eat and we could start, but I personally never got my side. Prices seemed a little high for the food that I saw. Wait staff was very nice and accommodating. I enjoyed looking at the décor - lots of hunting stuff and maps. The space is very inviting. So, I know it's kind of silly, but we did not get pizza here. Not that I won't next time, because it looked delicious and amazing! The table next to us said they adored it! My friend ordered a burger with bacon, lettuce, onion, cheese, some kind of really good sauce, and I think avocado. Um, the burger was huge! And it was cooked just as she requested. The bun was really fresh, and had great flavor. She's part psycho, and doesn't like pickles, so they left those off. She ordered mashed potatoes. And I will say. I might have eaten half of them. They were soooo good! Okok, so I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. I'm trying this low carb thing, sorry, so I got it with no bun. They wrapped it in lettuce, which was really nice. The toppings were wonderful! Very fresh, and the chicken was perfect! It wasn't dry it was (I won't say that word everyone hates, lol) and it had lettuce, onions, pickles, tomato. We decided to find a nice restaurant to go to before symphony concert downtown. We selected Manship, made reservations and it did not disappoint. We were greeted warmly at the entrance and shown to our table. Charles was our server for the evening and he took excellent care of us. He made menu recommendations that were excellent. We started the meal with the stuffed grape leaves appetizer and it was totally taste buds rocking excellent. We both selected fish for the main course, tuna and salmon. Both were also excellent with that great wood fired grill flavor. A side of herb seasoned sautéed mushrooms paired very well with the fish. Finally, to cap off an excellent meal, we had fresh coffee and a lemon ice box pie that was unreal topped with strawberries. From start to finish, this was an amazing dining experience. read more

This place is amazing! Local food choices with elaborate flavors mostly cooked in a wood oven. I got the four cheese pizza with local sausage and the flavor was killer. Also got the Thai beef tenderloin as an appetizer and that was so full of flavor. The bar is FULLY stocked and was jam packed with all different kinds of spirits. Very nice ambiance with prices that allow to witness very well prepared foods. A little tough to find by the hospital and parking is street or in the parking garage. read more

High end dining at low end prices. Some of the BEST pizza crust i have ever had. Soft chewy and delicious. And they serve a dish of olive oil with various herbs to dip you bread (free) or crust into. To die for. 5 star service with lots of little touches to make it special ( another plate of herbs to top your pizza when it comes ). I would, however, like to review the customer service provided by management, specifically Tiffany Bobbs, who went far above and beyond to make things right. My daughter was on a business trip and visited Manship over the weekend. Apparently a check fell out of her pocket. It was a birthday present from me and her dad. An honest customer found it just outside the restaurant and turned it into management. From the information on the check, Tiffany was able to locate me on facebook and messaged me her contact information. To make a long story short, all was resolved. I visited Manship two weeks ago and had a horrible experience!!!! My guest and I did not receive any service! We sat at our table table for EXACTLY 10 minutes without ANYONE even approaching our table! We were there immediately when they opened. People across from us (and people who came in several minutes after us) were receiving drinks and bread without my guest and I being recognized!!! There were more staff than tables(only 3 tables in the restaurant when we were seated)There were waiters talking in the back and passing us back and forth, again, without us being recognized----we felt like we were unwelcomed. It was not a good feeling to have especially when everyone in the restaurant is white and your the only blacks!!! I only wish I could have recorded the moment to confirm my soliloquy!!! I only sent this message because this is not the only bad experience we've had due to the staff!!! The only reason we have continued to come is because of the chef-inspired dishes! My friend wanted to try The Manship after I recommended it, and it again did not disappoint! Porch Swing Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka and lavender-infused lemonade. My favorite cocktail ever! Crab Beignets Amazeballs! Hearty balls of crab, better than a crab cake, and served on a smoky, flavorful drizzle of sauce. Ravioli Rabbit, spinach and pancetta served in a rich garlic cream sauce. Don't let the rabbit part scare you. It was very, very mild, like chicken or veal. Absolutely sublime. Service was great and food arrived very quickly. My friend loved her pizza and bread pudding. In the past, I've done the build-your-own charcuterie plate, and it was fantastic, especially for the price. Atmosphere: 3.5 Loud, but most busy restaurants in Jackson are. It's a really common problem. Service: 5 Food: 5+ Overall: 5+. I will definitely go back and am not going to ding them for the noise level. That happens everywhere. I highly recommend for the caliber of food and cocktails and can't wait to go back! Double Bonus points: I had made a reservation for 7pm, but my friend called to say she was running late. It was storming in Madison, and she's an uneasy driver in the rain due to a bad wreck in college. I called the restaurant to let them know we'd be 15-20min late, and the hostess said she could move it back, but we'd only have an hour. I was glad she let me know and thanked her for the heads-up, but was a little worried that wouldn't be quite long enough. She said, let me check something, then switched around some seating and made the next booking for our table at 8:45. We arrived at 7:15 and left just before 8:30. Enough time to enjoy dinner and conversation, and leave staff plenty of time to prep for the next booking. Props to the hostess for how she handles reservations! Win!!!! Also, my friend had ordered a drink called Blood and Sand. Only a few moments after receiving it, one of the bartenders brought her another. He realized it had been made with the wrong vermouth. She said, "I've never had it before, so I wouldn't have known any better." But HE knew the difference and wanted her to have it made RIGHT. So I am back in Jackson, just driving through. We decided to try this again at dinner instead of breakfast. Let me tell you, when I put the food in my mouth, my taste buds did the happy dance. It was an epic party going on in my mouth. I gave them an extra star because the bathroom was much better. They were out of several items on the menu, but gave us replacements that were slightly more expensive without charging us the more expensive price. Our server, Marcia, was wonderful. She kept my coffee cup full and gave some really good recommendations. Enough so that when she listed dessert options we told her to surprise us. It brought tears to my eyes. If I had to choose between this and great sex - this would win! It was THAT good! We don't live in the area. But every May we have a trip that takes us through Jackson. Every May we plan our schedule to be able to come the Manship! Almost 2,000 round trip and we plan the traveling of the trip around the schedule of The Manship. It's that sensational! read more

This was our first real meal in Jackson and we were just blown away at how good the food was. One of my favorite cuisines in San Francisco is southern comfort food and I thought I had some good experiences but this place just blew them all away, nothing like the real thing. It's like when I thought I knew good pizza until I went to Italy. I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of sausage. Everything was just impeccable. So delicious, rich, and high quality ingredients. My wife had a veggie breakfast sandwich with a side of the mashed hash browns. Whatever you do, just make sure you try those mashed hash browns. The Manship advertises great food cooked in a wood fires oven, and they deliver on that. The complimentary bread was tasty with a good crust, served with a plate of oil and spices. We had pizza, chicken and pasta; all were exceptional, the chicken was moist and flavorful, it had a slight hint of smoke from the oven, which added more flavor. The pizza crust was also great, which is one of the more important factors of pizza for me. If I'm ever back in Jackson again, you would find me at the Manship. Amazing little gem! Traveling across the US, back to California, and found this amazing restaurant. Great service, great bourbon and wine list, and GREAT food! We highly recommend the duck wings (they were perfectly fried), and the pork Cubano. My boyfriend enjoyed the Turkey Trot cocktail, and we finished up with a grapefruit pie (similar to a key lime)... This place is awesome. We had a party of 4 and got right in. We were served water immediately along with a cocktail list and specials for the evening. We ordered a charcuterie plate that was ideal for 4 of us. I ordered a wood fired margherita pizza with pepperoni and asked if they had anchovies as an option and our waitress said they didn't but would see what they could do. It came out with anchovies that they have for the Caesar salad dressing. It was perfect. My old fashioned cocktail was spot on, the rabbit ragu, salmon and grilled shrimp the others had was all delicious. Great food, great service and reasonable price for the quality. So, this is one of my favorite places in Jackson. It's a newer restaurant but, they hit the ground running and definitely set the bar high. The food is fantastic and the staff is always great. I like to come by at least once when I'm home for a visit. I rarely ever write reviews, but the Manship boasts amazing food mixed with great service. I tried the calamari (excellent tomato sauce) had the hanger steak with grits. Everything about this meal was perfect. The chef has opted to avoid superfluous amounts of sauces and veiling ingredients and has chosen to instead perfect the meats with basic seasonings. The entree sizes are perfect and the wide variety of addon side items allow for dozens of combinations. The atmosphere is also excellent and the staff is top notch. This is something Jackson has needed. Update: noticed that I had $20 tacked on to my final bill without any knowledge of why only to realize it was their corking fee. FYI read more

Okay so my last review from when they first opened was three stars. I have to admit though that they have seriously upped their game and it's rare for a restaurant to keep getting better the way this one has. Honestly, their menu options change but continue to impress. Their pizza is delicious, but really the roasted cauliflower and broccolini is where it's at as far as vegetarian options go, but there are a lot more options available. I'm told the meat is good, but I don't remember specifics on that, sorry. The tabouli is also really good, but not as good as Aladdin's. read more
