So, I have never stayed here. This review is for the "hots" - the hot dog and the hot chocolate. This little stand is right in front of the hotel. The hours are ambiguous. It is basically a hit or miss if they are there. I came for a hot dog in the summer. There was a decent line for the hot dog. It moved very slowly. It was at least a 30 min wait. The hot dog is great. You can get it with the works - kimchi, pickle, sour kraut, ketchup, mustard - or none of that. The hot dog is snappy and $6. I loved it. It won't fill you up, so you might need two. You can take it to Central Park to enjoy. I cam again on New Year's Day. They had the hot dog and the hot chocolate! The hot dog was great once again. The hot chocolate was amazing. The hot chocolate was rich and more of a dark chocolate. The chocolate marshmallow melting in was perfection. A few days before I also tried the viral glace hot chocolate. Without a doubt, the Marks hot chocolate was MUCH better. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. read more

I'm usually uncomfortable, not a good sleeper, and the week+ i stayed there was wonderful. Swanky cozy bar inside the mark hotel, tough door but as is expected at an elegant establishment such as this. Service was a little lacking at the bar, but the ambience and atmosphere was a delight. This posh hotel is in a very great neighborhood near Central Park. With a modern lobby and extremely polite reception staff, the doormen and concierge are resources to be expected for over 1k a night. My room was small but quaint, I liked the nice details of a heated towel rack, high quality toiletries, a very well stocked mini fridge and fresh fruit bowl. The housekeeping was excellent and my turn down service included a water and macaroons. I did notice that the carpet was worn and it looked like stains were cleaned but not eradicated. The bed was of average comfort and the pillows were not notably plush. The tv was large and I had no issues hearing nearby guests or even the elevator that my room was adjacent to. The fitness center was small but had nice amenities, and I didn't get a chance to visit the spa. My main grievance is the pricing here at the Mark. While I have no problem paying a high price tag for a prestigious experience, I thought the room service and hotel fees were ostentatiously high. A basic banana/berry smoothie was $26 plus a service fee and additional gratuity. The next day I ordered an OJ and the croissant pastry and the total was $67 and change. Maybe it's the midwesterner in me that thinks this is absolutely unreasonable, however I have no complaints about the actual quality of these items. Breakfast came at the exact requested time and everything was tasty. If you have no problem paying enormous amounts of money for good quality and service, this place might be up your alley. As a side note I do wish they had a more spacious lobby bar or a quiet place to enjoy a drink and snack. The adjacent bar was bustling with people, full and loud, and I had to wait quite awhile to order a drink and find a seat. read more

Excellent on site dining options by Chef Jean Georges including a "Haute Dog" cart outside the main entrance which is charming and delish. A long time ago, I had afternoon tea here for a bridal shower. After looking at the website, I don't believe it was located at the restaurant or the bar, so I'm reviewing the hotel by default. This was one of the very first fancy hotels I had ever visited, and the fact it was in the best city made it that more special. I was way out of my league here, but I didn't feel as though anyone was snobby; directions to where I needed to go were given pleasantly. Even though I was-and still am-more of a modern decor kind of girl, I was impressed by the classic appeal of The Mark. I had strawberry cream tea for the first time and to this day, it's still a favorite. Out where I am now, the Coffee Bean has their version which is sufficient enough while I'm here. My husband sweetly surprised me with a trip to New York so we could spend time at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Frick Museum and this hotel's location can't be beat! It was a short eight minute walk to get back from the Met to here which made it easy to spend the whole day there and take a mid-day break. I also love that it is close to Central Park so easy to head for walks there and close to a subway station too. The neighborhood is quiet and safe.. The hotel is quite nice as well. We had a king sized bed which had a great mattress and slept well. The air conditioning kept the room well regulated as well. The bathroom was spacious with a marble tub and shower and I do half wish it was a little less spacious so the room could have been bigger! However, really appreciated the oversized bath towels and strong flow of water from the shower head. The location of course comes with a price. The staff was friendly and I appreciated the complementary Evian water at night and sweets at turn down service (on the first night it was a Laudree macaron). However for this price point had hoped having a hot water kettle and complementary tea/coffee would have been a given. read more

I can finally check off The Mark Hotel off the bucket list. This hotel is located on East 77th right between 5th and Madison avenue. The location can not be beat. You are right next to central park and many diplomatic buildings to name a few. If you feel like you are a nobody, let me tell you, you will think very highly of yourself while staying here. An honest disclosure. If you are going on vacation counting nickels and dimes this is not the place to be. For this is the upper east side and nothing comes cheap. This is one of the most expensive hotels in NYC. Upon entering the hotel, very warm welcome. Greeted as if I have stayed there many times before. Staff was very attentive with my check in as well as my valet parking. Smooth check-in to the room. The room was very clean. Definitely up to standards during covid-19 times. The room is very ascetically pleasing and true to the advertising on-line. It was a real joy to have an all marble black and white bathroom (walk in shower and separate tub). Was happy I only stayed two nights; I would have had to of been rolled out of the hotel if I stayed longer. All guests are entitled to Michelin star chef Jean-Georges in room dining. An experience to say the least. A real treat to have 5-star food delivered right up to your room. I would recommend this hotel; the location alone really sells the hotel and makes me want to return. How ever this is not a hotel everyone can afford at the drop of a hat. Went to the Rock & Roll Exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and then went looking for a dive bar to have a drink and lunch. We did not find a dive bar but we did find the bar/restaurant in The Mark Hotel. The door staff invited us in as we were walking by but we passed. After some thought we decided to go back and try it out. Certainty not a dive but it was father's day so I figured lets give it a go. My daughter and I sat at the bar by ourselves and even though Diego the bartender was busy with the brunch table orders he still took care of us. While not what we were looking for it is always fun when exploring the city leads a positive surprise. I would definitely go back again and could see making Father's Day drinks at The Mark Hotel with my daughter a tradition going forward. read more

In a word. Worst food and beverage department of expensive hotel in nyc. I am a doctor and have spent last time at The Mark. Stayed there as it was close hospital. The restaurants are a shameful exhibit of a great chef attaching his name and running for the hills with his check. Breakfast is worst run and managed in the city. Food andat night terrible. Entire staff is generally nice but clearly understaffed and hotel has no management presence. It's like they don't exist. Attended a private, special occasion lunch here. The Mark is a smart, upscale, stylish hotel and the food is served here reflects the sophisticated Upper East atmosphere. Dishes are presented professionally, there an extensive and impressive wine list. Service is attentive. Food and drink: I have the best Bloody Mary of my life, period, end of story, which of course required a second round! The crab cake, avocado and grapefruit appetizer was a surprisingly wonderful combination that worked well together. Also had the chicken and salad -- with the chicken tenderloins done to perfection. What a different vibe after staying the night before at The Lowell. WOW. While both hotels are wonderful, they each have their own personalities. In one word: REFRESHING! This hotel is gorgeous! Trendy, yet classic. The rooms are divine!!! Heated floors and towel racks as well as TVs built into the bathroom mirror! Deep tubs for a relaxing bath. Simply chic and awesome! It's a fun place but still keeps to the Upper East Side atmosphere. The staff here definitely makes sure that you are comfortable and happy. They are friendly and very personable, even if you are more of the shy type. I do prefer more of the timeless, elegant European decor at The Lowell, but this place doesn't disappoint either. It's like a modern 1950s theme. Lots of black and white and hip. What puts them above the rest is the service. Everyone here seems to love what they are doing and it really does show and make a difference. Well worth the price and closer to shops and a more lively atmosphere. Extraordinary! read more

I ordered the CRISPY SALMON SUSHI (4 pieces $29) and it wasn't fresh!! I didn't say anything because I was taking someone out and didn't want to make a big deal out of it. When I got home for two days I was sick, it appeared as if sushi was pre-made and the salmon turned. Really, at The Mark?? Just to confirm I wasn't going crazy, I asked my lunch partner, who ate the same exact thing and she was very sick as well. How can The Mark raise its prices and then cheap out on their food!! I'm only giving the restaurant at The Mark a star because the wait team tried to help us out. We were promptly seated for brunch at the Mark by the hostess and ushered over to a table in a dark portion of the dining room near the kitchen. I'm thinking "...of course. Three women. Alone. Who would even notice?" I simply requested a table "in a lighted section" and the Waiter accommodated us. Then disappeared. About 15 minutes later another waiter came to offer us water and take our order. We were served our wine promptly; and gave our order. We never had our glasses refilled with water. And we waited to be served our very expensive eggs Benedict and French toast. And waited. And waited. And waited until 45 minutes had passed and I had to get up and speak with the staff. When I went to the front of the dining room, there were five or six wait staff talking. There was one other table with a family having brunch and all the other tables were empty. And yet no one bothered to check in with us. I stated that we had been waiting now for almost an hour. Someone offered to go find out about our order. I returned to my table. We had drunk our wine and all the water. And it was now a full hour since we had arrived. A waiter came over and apologized for the continued delay, and then walked away. When ey yellowthe manager walked over 10 minutes later we had already decided to leave and put $50 on the table to cover the drinks. He literally said he would not let us go and he would "bring the order right away" again -- food no show. When our food finally arrived. I noticed that the plate was cool to the touch. when I looked at the eggs, they were covered by a rubbery, cold orange/yellow cheese. My two friends also had been served cold food. I said to the now 3 waiters serving us that the food is cold and we were now leaving. One of the waiters said that we should not leave any money for anything and apologized for what he called a "disgraceful situation." And so, we left. This is touted as one of NYC best restaurants, and I'm sure they are also negatively impacted byCoVid labor shortages. We felt uncared for, ignored and taken advantage of. So -- I will never return. I had a hard time finding a hotel to come in for medical tests at Mount Sinai. A competitor recommended THE MARK which I was not familiar with. I had an OUTSTANDING stay with them. Super clean, quiet, Covid protocols, stunning room, and the food was outrageously good. I cannot wait to come back. The Mark made my trip during this difficult time for difficult reasons more comfortable and fun than I could imagine. An added bonus was the Fekkai salon where I was able to get a blow out!
