    Fried Hot Chicken Sandwich
    Mary M.

If you come here and don't get their fried hot chicken sandwich then I don't want to talk to you!!!!! Seriously, we flew in to Chicago (first time visitors!) and were starving, so we popped into The Marq since it was right next to our hotel. My husband and I both got the chicken sandwich, and ended up returning back the next day to have it again because it is THAT GOOD! The service was fast and friendly, and the vibe was sophisticated yet casual. And I can guarantee you that whenever I am in Chicago again, this will be my first stop!

Arnold Palmer and carrots with whipped feta.

Was visiting Chicago for a conference and looking for a place close to my hotel to have dinner. The Marq hit the mark! Get the carrots and whipped feta. This dish will knock your socks off. How they're able to make a completely vegetarian dish so amazingly tasty and fulfilling, I don't have words. That is all that I need to say. Really great service and loved sitting outside and eating.

Came here for lunch and it was quite delicious. Had a business trip to Chicago and this was near my work place and recommended by a coworker. It wasn't busy for lunch when we went at 11:00, however, it started getting busy at 12:00. My coworker recommended the Rueben. And it was delicious. It was hearty. The pastrami wasn't thin sliced, it was thick cut and I've never seen it made that way, but it was good. The sauerkraut was good too. The side of fries were delicious. The fries were really crunchy but not overly crunchy and had some substance inside. It was a good (filling) lunch! Definitely want to go back for dinner.

    Short Rib Grilled Cheese

Came by for lunch on Friday. Watched some of a March Madness game. Had a beer; a porter. Short Rib grilled cheese and then an Arnold Palmer. They use multiple cheese varieties which is good and the beef tasted like it was premium. They were busy during lunch but there were not too many patrons.

Root and Roast Chicken was outstanding as were the Corn Ribs! Our server, Abby was outstanding. Steak Frites was average but the fries that come with it are out of this world.

Falafel Sandwich (without pita) and Sweet Potato Fries

Stopped by for lunch while visiting Chicago and the beautiful Marquette building. Was happy to find a place for a quick lunch that wasn't completely deep-fried. They had vegetarian options and were also able to adapt for my friend and my gluten intolerances. There were several things that sounded great to me, but I went with the falafel, and instead of a sandwich they put it in a bowl- it was delicious with a great pairing and veggies and sauce- yum! Came with fries but was told those are not gf so got the sweet potato fries instead and they were great- a thicker cut and a great aioli dipping sauce. My friend enjoyed her soup and fries too. Service was friendly and fast, cute spot I definitely recommend.

My travels brought me to Chicago and various twist of fate brought me to The Marq. My friends and I started with the aguachile - which was a fantastic combination of avocado, cucumber, shrimp, shallots, mixed into some amazing salsas. Served with housemaid tortilla chips, I am totally glad that our server recommended this. Light, well presented, and flavorful, it was an excellent indicator of what was to come. The other starter that we ordered was the charcuterie. Not much to say here as it's hard to do anything particularly innovative or creative with a charcuterie. It looked fantastic, though. I ordered the steak frites which definitely exceeded my expectations. It was among the most tender and flavorful cuts of hanger steak I have ever had. Cooked to the perfect temperature, it did not need either the chimichurri or the Bernaise, which were served on the side. That being said, the chimichurri was a bit bland, and the Bernaise was a bit watery further emphasizing how well this steak performed on its own. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. A perfect complement to the steak. The wine list was a bit underwhelming, but there were decent options at very reasonable prices. Our server, was amazing instruct the perfect balance of attentiveness while allowing me and my friends to catch up with each other with minimal interruption. The inside of the restaurant was vibrant, but incredibly loud. Our hostess was too kind to give us some outdoor seating, which was perfect for having a conversation despite missing out on some of the awesome ambience on the inside. To be honest, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect since there were a number of reviews giving very mixed opinions but I was very pleased with the experience and do not regret my relatively random decision to have dinner here with my friends.

Convenient location but The Marq's food is very average. Best dish was the chicken bites which were crispy & juicy. The steak salad was a bit too rare (asked for medium rare) and the salad greens were too soggy. Tacos could've been better. They looked decent but tasted so bland. Also although our servers were very nice, the wait to get our food was long (50+ minutes).

    Shakshuka

The Marq, is a quaint restaurant in the heart of The Loop. Staff is lovely, I stopped by for Breakfast and had the Shakshuka. It was a delight with a perfect amount of spice and the short rib was cooked to perfection!

They were able to accommodate our party with a baby! Once inside there were other celebrations going on (it was a Friday night). We actually picked this place for the salmon options but by the time we arrived (around 730p) they were out of salmon! The large party of twenty or so near us had some salmon florentine orders. Our food actually came quick but their bussers were really fast at clearing our empty plates. Food was delicious. We got their burgers, mac and cheese to share, and had to switch one salmon entree for a chicken.

Some of our favorites included the Cherry Tomato Tart, Smoked Turnip, Chestnut Ravioli, and Roasted Maitake Mushroom with Meyer lemon and black truffle. The Chocolate Tart and Elderflower Panna Cotta were the perfect finishing touches along with the birthday ice cream popsicle. Overall, Boka felt intimate, elevated, and impeccably executed. I started with the scallops, which were perfectly fine but fairly average. For my main, I had the duck. It was well prepared and certainly the stronger of the two dishes, but still nothing particularly memorable or exciting. There was nothing objectively bad about the meal, and the presentation and overall execution were polished. The issue was simply that at this level, I expect food that makes me stop for a moment and think, wow. That never happened here. Perhaps I caught Boka on an off night, but based on this experience I was genuinely surprised by the Michelin star. Chicago has so many exceptional restaurants that I personally wouldn't recommend Boka over the many other options available. Service was attentive and friendly. Lots of anniversaries and birthdays in the crowd of people out having a celebration dinner. Good, but not special enough to make me want to return.
