A great find in Chicago! A visited with my coworkers before the start of our conference weekend. We ate a late lunch so we just wanted appetizers and drinks. To start our serve was exceptional. He had great recommendations for anything we asked him - very friendly and attentive. We each ordered one appetizer. I had the bruschetta, Nick and meat and cheese platter and Sarah the Brussels sprouts. The bruschetta is a great choice if you are with a group although it was so good I could have eaten the entire thing myself. It comes with large slices of toasted baguette, fresh tomatoes and ricotta. I couldn't try the Brussels sprouts as they contained nuts, but both Nick and Sara said they were worth the purchase. Nick's meat and cheese selection were the hit of the night. His board had the summer sausage, and two cheeses. We devoured it. Again large portion size if you are with a group. The hospitality here made me feel like I was back on a family vacation to Greece and no it's not just because the manager had a Greek name... It's the attention to detail on the way the service is given, the pickles are coated just so, and the whipped honey ricotta is perfectly balanced. Our waiter suggested the adobo chicken and the burger. The adobe chicken served over a puree with a subtle peanut taste was delightful... the burger was ok. We went here to have a nice drink and a nice dinner. I loved the atmosphere of relaxed yet, trendy. It would be a great hang out or a date night place. They do have a couch in the front of the restaurant and a full bar. I had a cider, which was fine. Nothing special. I had sticky ribs. Portion was pretty small and even though the description said "fall off the bone" it really didn't. Outside was little crunch and so was the inside meat. I've got the slaw, and it really didn't have any taste to it. Also it was little watery. Their home fries were ok. I feel that this place is nothing special. If you wanted to come for a drink, that would be nice. But for good tasty dinner, not really. Go somewhere else. However, my friend who got the vegan BBQ burger, she said it was good. read more

We were able to stop by for lunch today on our way to the Art Institute. The Marq was a lot more crowded since my previous weekend evening visit but we were lucky get a table right away. Same great service as last time even with the crowd. Food: we ordered Mac 'n Cheese and the Marq Burger with a fried egg. The Mac 'n Cheese was very tasty..nice and cheesy topped with panko bread crumbs for a little texture. The burger was was very good with the pickled onions and pickles adding a nice acidity to the flavor. The egg was good..but be warned..it can get messy! We ended up using a fork and knife on the burger to avoid getting yolk all over our hands and mouths! Service: Superb service again even with a pretty full house. Our server (Kat?) was great, checking up on our table, making sure we had everything we needed. The management also came by a couple times to make sure our meal was to our liking. Atmosphere: Great place, in the day time it changed to a bustling lunch spot for business people grabbing lunch. Although bustling and crowded, it still felt comfortable. Value: Good value for the lunch menu in the area. Burger came in at $14 plus $1 for the egg, Mac 'n Cheese full order was $13. We were in town & going to see Hamilton and this place was close & has great reviews so we gave it a shot. We called ahead & were able to get a reservation which was appreciated. -we were sat immediately by a friendly hostess -our server was somewhat attentive but not very friendly. I don't mind that but It very much bothered my friend -the ricotta appetizer was one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth. This alone is a must. -the Brussels sprouts were ok. They were very big and the knives weren't very sharp which made eating them a bit of a pain, and I would have liked them more without the sweet/spicy sauce -the chicken sandwich was excellent. On our recent visit to Chicago we got on Yelp and found The Marq! Our waiter Nick was kind and helpful! We started with the fried pickles (my sons girlfriends favorite appetizer) and the whipped ricotta with honey and balsamic, I could eat my weight in this yumminess. Highly recommend this, it was recommended to us by Nick! My voice was the Chefs choice sausage (forget what it was, but it was GOOD)- the French fries are great also! My mom and I had dinner here since it was very close to our hotel. We were seated right away, which was surprising considering it was a Friday evening. The hostess and server were both very pleasant. I had the Vegan Jackfruit BBQ sandwich (minus the bun) and my mom went for the Marq Burger. Our food arrived very quickly after placing the order and both were delicious. The Marq is a great place for dinner in downtown Chicago. They were able to seat us quickly without wait on a Saturday night when the other restaurants I checked in the area were booked for 90+ min. The wait staff is very friendly and provided food recommendations as well as fun things to do in Chicago while I was there doing the tourist thing. The Marq is just a few blocks off of Michigan Ave which I suspect is what allowed me to get a table when other restaurants were full. I had the steak salad. It was a fresh salad with arugula and sliced flank steak cooked just right. My guest had the beet risotto which was delicious and a unusually beautiful red color. I would really like to give a higher rating here, but the wait time was horrible. I wasn't planning on stopping here on my recent trip to Chicago, but Revival food hall isn't open on weekends apparently so we settled for this. Our waitress was behind the bar most of the time so maybe they were just short staffed. We decided to order an appetizer and our meal right away with the drink order since it was clearly going to be slow service. It took about 35 minutes for our food to arrive. We ordered the fried pickles, a slider, and the fried chicken sandwich. None of those things should take very long in my opinion. Other tables around us also seemed to be waiting a long time for their meals. A child next to us yelled "finally!" When their table's food came. The food itself was good. The slider was juicy and flavorful. The fried pickles were a bit greasy but that's to be expected. The sauce they're served with is really good. The fried chicken sandwich was the star. The glaze is amazing, and the homemade ranch and pickles just put it over the top. The fries were not good at all; soggy and greasy. The vibe here is upscale and trendy, yet they have a huge screen displaying sports. There was not a lot of staff around for most of the time. We had to ask another waitress to have ours bring the bill. Overall, I will not be back. This place reallllyy hit the spot after a long day of bike riding and everything was delicious! My sister and I ordered lemonade and coffee which was yummy and for food we got the bruschetta, sweet potato fries, and the tuscan chicken sandwich. Our waitress Maria naturally split the meal in 2 perfect portions without asking it was so perfect! The fries were crispy and tastey and the sandwich was also delightful and the portion between this was the right amount! I also want to add there's also a convenient divvy bike parking spot right across the street and we are going to Skydeck after this! So this place really wins with great food, service, price, and location. I also want to add that our phones were dying and she was so kind to offer a charging dock for us to use! What if I told you that the menu was largely comprised of safe, crowd-pleasing standards? What if I told you that there wasn't really a cocktail that stood out? You'd probably not be very interested. *pre covid review* Came here last winter with a friend before a concert and had a nice time. We only ordered some cocktails and wine along with some appetizers because we didn't want to be too full for the concert. I absolutely loved the cocktails I got. They were tasty and not overly strong. We were both big fans of the bruschetta and fried pickles. The combination of tomato, burrata and crispy crouton-like bread slices was exactly what I expect from bruschetta. All the flavors come together to give you acidity, fat, and texture. The fried pickles were also fried perfectly and the sauce they came with heightened the flavors in the breading. The only thing we got that we really did not like were the jackfruit croquettes. The texture was ok but the flavor was so overwhelmingly acidic and sour tasting. We both actually like jackfruit so we were surprised to have such a negative reaction to the taste. However it didn't ruin the meal and we thoroughly enjoyed everything else we got. I also noticed they no longer have the croquettes on the menu but still have the bruschetta and pickles. read more

We were stuck in the city dealing with bureaucratic hell and needed a place to grab food during the pandemic with a toddler and an infant. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They were safe, clean, and distant while also helping our motley crew feel welcome. Tables were very spaced out and there is a new HVAC to support ventilation. He wasn't wowed by it but didn't dislike it either. The bowls in which salads are Served are a little funky. They are asymmetrical and open towards you so salad tends to fall out of the bowl. A for presentation but C for functionality. I had the Green Goddess salad add chicken. It was delicious! The chicken was tender and a nice but not overpowering amount of walnuts and apples. Dressing also nice and light. This is a good option if you are looking for salad on the lighter side. The only disappointment was the kitchen did not dry the lettuce so there was a pool of water at the bottom of the bowl. The waitress handled this very nicely and took half off my salad. I went to The Marq for a quick lunch and had a good experience. The restaurant was very crowded, but the service was still pretty quick. I was able to get in and out in 45 min. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and fries. That sandwich was fried well; there was just the right amount of crunch. My only complaint is that the sandwich was messy to eat. Looked up this place on Yelp while in town to see some shows. Wanted something within walking distance of the hotel and found this little gem. Large interior with lots of table and comfy booth seating. Fairly good size patio with a view of the Flamingo sculpture, which we enjoyed. My daughter and I had the salmon BLTs and they were delicious! Really nice, toasty Brioche bread and the aioli was perfect. My husband had the burger and it looked good and he said it was great. Best part were the fries, which were really crispy on the outside but soft on the inside and nicely salted. Service was excellent and food served quickly. After enjoying a wonderful afternoon at the Art Institute, we decided to grab a bite here and had an overall pleasant experience. Both of the ladies enjoyed the Salmon Rilette - their feedback (which I agree with) is to chop the apple in the sandwich a bit more and stuff the apple into the bottom of the sandwich so more of the flavor grabs in each bite. We shared the fried pickles (which were delicious) and the burger was very good. The burger consists of two small patties (so unfortunately no cook to order) but the toppings were all very thoughtful, and the fries quite fresh. Service started really well, but once our server and the server in the red glasses rotated out, service was quite slow in spite of essentially an empty restaurant. That shouldn't happen, and chewing twenty minutes of time in getting a check and paying cost this review half a star. I'd also like to see more compelling/interesting menu options - most of what I saw on the menu just didn't inspire me, hence why I defaulted to the burger. Overall, I like this place and can easily see us back here in the future. You've got a good start in - perennial location, but with Revival next door, it's going to take another level of excitement to make me pick you over them on the weekdays. read more

A little disappointed by my experience at the Marq. I stopped in with some coworkers in a Monday evening while staying in the Loop. I had made a reservation ahead of time because there were seven of us, but it wouldn't have been necessary for the time of week. The atmosphere was very trendy with wooden plank walls, high top tables and a an open bar area. The staff was very friendly but they weren't busy and our meal seemed rushed. We started off with some drinks and ordered a variety of beers they offered on draft. For appetizers we chose poutine and fried pickles. These were both solid choices! For my entree I decided to go with the sirloin. The meat was cooked nicely but the dish didn't blow me away. I would definitely return during a different time of the week to experience a more busy atmosphere and sample some other food options. read more

I believe my burger with a decent amount of fries was around $22. Atmosphere/decor - The place was rather dim but had a a semi bar-Esq. feel but a little more upscale. Overall simple but modern. I enjoyed the front tall tables with comfy chairs on one side, & other side a couch seating. Something about couch seating i love. Staff/service - Our waitress was GREAT! Yes the place was not busy so of course she was able to stay on top of our table as well food was made in good timing....But she was also very sweet & polite. I also was very pleased with management staffing checking on all tables through our visit making sure everything was smooth as a customer. I also was pleased with different staff brining our plates. Really, we needed somewhere to eat that was in walking distance of our hotel and The Marq had open seats.
