What a gem! The open, spacious, and inviting interior is just the first thing that we noticed when we arrived. Yum yum! We were a party of 9 with crazy dietary needs. Some vegan, some vegetarian, one gluten free, and one no carbs. And kids too. Everything was super tasty, fresh, and the ambiance was very welcoming. We sat inside and had a great meal together. Food is hands down one of the best breakfast I've had. We ordered jalapeno, smoked salmon scramble and tofu plus of course their delicious pancakes. All were incredibly yummy. Place was huge with patio and a bar. Gave a 4 star bec service is horrible. We made reservations but still had to wait 25 minutes. What's the purpose of the reservation? It took an hour to get our food, granted they were very busy. In a normal day, I would have walked away but was meeting a friend that I hadn't seen in a decade. What an amazing find! A true gem! I can't take credit for finding The Mason Jar Cafe, as I was brought by friends who are from the area. But I'm sure glad they brought me! I love the repurposed building turned into a restaurant which now brings life back into the downtown area. I was here for brunch with friends who recommended the corned beef hash. This is not from a can, but is made with chunks of real corned beef, fresh potatoes and onions, seasoned just right and served with eggs cooked to order, and a choice of various kinds of toast (I got rye). There were several options. I tell you what, I've never had corned beef hash so good. It really was delicious. And generously served with a smile. The server did a fantastic job ensuring we had all we needed. She brought me a refill before I had to ask. Drinks are served in Mason jars as the name suggests. We dined on the patio. Our family traveled from Texas, Ohio, and Chicago to celebrate my son's wedding. As part of the weekend festivities, we reserved a private room well in advance for a farewell brunch with our family of 18. When I arrived, I was immediately escorted to the reserved room without issue. However, when my niece arrived shortly afterward, she was told there was no reservation. Our family is very diverse, and we do not all look alike. That interaction immediately raised concerns for us. Our server was pleasant and did her best, but the kitchen was slow, several orders were incorrect, and it took additional time to have them corrected. Throughout our meal, no one ever mentioned that there was a 90-minute limit for the private room. The most disappointing part of the experience occurred when a blonde staff member entered the room and abruptly announced that we needed to leave because we had been there for two hours. It wasn't simply what she said--it was how she said it. Her tone was condescending, dismissive, and completely lacking in hospitality. She then questioned whether we had even paid a deposit for the room, despite the reservation having been made well in advance and no deposit requirement ever being communicated to us. This was supposed to be a joyful celebration bringing together family from multiple states. Instead, it became an embarrassing and uncomfortable experience. The manner in which we were approached felt disrespectful, and it left several of us feeling as though colorism and microaggressions may have influenced the interaction. Whether intentional or not, that is how it was experienced by our family. We asked to speak with a manager but were refused. We respectfully explained to the staff member that, in the future, it would be far more appropriate to ask for the host of the party and address any concerns privately and professionally rather than embarrassing guests in front of their entire family. Our party of 18 spent approximately $400-$500 celebrating this special occasion. We expected courtesy, professionalism, and respect. Unfortunately, we left feeling humiliated instead. This experience overshadowed what should have been one of the happiest weekends for our family. Because of how we were treated, I will never return or recommend this establishment. read more

My boyfriend's vietnamese coffee was unfortunately not as good- it didn't have the strong Vietnamese coffee flavor (truthfully didn't taste like real viet coffee) so if you're considering getting this, it's worth skipping. The inside was spacious, and not overly packed even on the weekend. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The dining area is fun and eclectic and the patio is great in the summer! They offer great gluten free options and their zucchini waffle always satisfies. You can add chocolate chips and bacon inside which makes it a savory, sweet delight. Their drink selection is great: fresh squeezed juices, teas, lattes, and breakfast cocktails. I enjoyed their vanilla matcha latte this time. The service is polite and prompt and they have their system down. Our server, Melanie, was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. She gave us some excellent recommendations. The only negative but didn't really bother us too much is that they are doing some renovation on one side of the restaurant and it got loud from time, so if you are someone who is sensitive to noises maybe come when they are done with the renovations. Orange juice: freshly squeezed and tasty, worth it if you like OJ with a breakfast meal. Chicken sausages: ordered a side order and it came with 3 plump chicken sausages. It's tastes good and would compliment a meal that didn't contain meat or if you just want more meat. Smoked salmon scramble: I didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The scramble contained fresh smoked salmon with seasoned potatoes that went well together. The portion was more than enough, could have leftovers depending on the person's appetite. I'd recommend this if you want fish vs. meat/pure veggies in your meal. Soo good! -pancakes: I chose pancakes for the salmon scramble and we were wow'ed by the fluffy delicious pancake. Corned beef hash: impressed and first time having corned beef hash that wasn't from a can. Yumm & filling. The toast that came with it was delicious with the perfect amount of butter. Overall, we enjoyed our brunch here a few days ago. My wife likes breakfast, but I prefer lunch so this restaurant really did have the best of both worlds. It's more on the expensive side, and I was disappointed that my Coca-Cola was served in a can instead of in a refillable fountain drink cup.
