Coming from out of town, this place is in a weird area. Felt like an up and coming area. But, get past the drive by and go in! The service, food and even the music (Eddie Van Halen pictured everywhere!?!) is awesome. I had the VERY best Monte Crisco sandwich I have ever had. I am kind of a connoisseur. I came for the smash burger but splurged. And I am so glad I did because omg. So yummy. Crispy, crunchy, salty and sweet. And the pain killer cocktail? The "Lillian" appetizer? We decided to have our anniversary lunch a day late at The Brick House because my husband requested it and we both had the afternoon off work. The typical parking lot was fenced off so we had to utilize the street parking nearby. We were told to choose a seat and they'd be right with us. They only opened at 11am, at by the time we got there around 12:30 it was starting to fill up a bit already. My husband got the "in a van down by the river" cocktail, which I tasted, and we both agreed was delicious. For our appetizer, which we had never ordered one before from this establishment, we got the Wisconsin cheese curds. The sauce it came with reminds me of a good sauce for onion rings and was just as amazing on the cheese curds (it was called Sunny ranch I believe). We both got our usual entrees, my husband ordered a double smash burger and I got the atomic punk sandwich, both of which came with fries. My husband devoured his food, while my anxiety basically required me to wait until we got home to eat. I would definitely recommend stopping by The Brick House and grabbing a bite to eat. The stars are for the food; service was kinda slow, and the end was just plain weird. I paid, and she asked if I needed change for a $20 which would be for a tip. I said I had other change (which means no), and she tells me to have a good night and never comes back with my change! I've been in the service industry too, and that's super bold/rude/assumptive! You should always bring the change back and I would have tipped plenty! She literally kept over 35% when I said I had money to tip her with. read more

Whoa! TASTY! Another lunch in Michigan with the in-laws. We selected a table, and were greeted by our waitress. Menus were provided (nice and big, lots of options). I ordered their Fair Warning which came with fries. My wife ordered their Mean Street, which came with Au Jus and tasty fries. The kids menu has such titles as "I Don't Know" (Chicken tenders), "I Don't Want That" (Grilled Cheese) and "I'm Not Hungry" (single Smash Burger). I went with my niece for lunch and we both ordered salads. I had the Green Goddess and she had the Loco Chicken salad. Super fresh, generous portion, house made dressings. Chicken was perfectly grilled and tender. Lots of sandwich and appetizer options to try next time! It was a bit busy and took a minute to place our order, but to be fair, our server did ask us once but we weren't ready at that time. We then set our menus on the edge of the table to signal we were ready, but still took several minutes. Which was actually ok as my niece and l were catching up! Server was very nice. We stopped into The Brick House in the art district after a day at the beach, and it was exactly what we were looking for. The Classic Smash Burger did not disappoint--juicy patty, melty American cheese, tangy pickles, grilled onion, and that signature brick sauce on a soft brioche bun. The fresh-cut fries were outstanding--crispy, perfectly seasoned, and gone way too fast. We also tried the Eruption (roast beef on ciabatta with bleu cheese, pickled onions, spinach, and creamy horseradish). Served cold, but full of flavor--if you enjoy bleu cheese, this one's a winner. Our server, Sam, was excellent--attentive, friendly, and kept everything moving. Meals came out quickly without feeling rushed. The vibe is great--small pub feel with a rock-n-roll edge--casual, lively, and welcoming. (One suggestion: maybe mix in a few more bands--not quite so much Fleetwood Mac ). We already want to come back to try the Mean Street (roast beef, caramelized onions, mushrooms, provolone, dijonaise, and au jus) and the Little Dreamer (crispy eggplant with roasted red pepper mayo). Rushed in on the way home to Chicago, just in time before kitchen closed. Food came fast and was delicious. Buffalo chicken dip, Little Dreamer eggplant veg sammich, and Somebody Call a Doctor Monte Christo; that last one was an INCREDIBLE take on that classic. No one does MC's anymore so try it! Read all the "great" reviews about this place and finally decided to go here for lunch. What a disappointment! We opted for some specials but were regretting it when our bill came. Always thought specials were specials to get people in the door not to get people to not come back. We could have gone to Perry's Steakhouse (yes I know there's none in Benton Harbor or near) for WAY less and had a fantastic Friday lunch with more drinks. Our bill was $72'ish and almost a $4 service charge added on. For what? Having the pleasure of eating at your establishment and getting gouged with mediocre food. Really 3 1/2 stars. We had a HUGE group that just kept growing, and Kelly was able to accommodate us. We were 23 kids and 20 adults with separate checks. The staff never seemed frazzled. They were mostly friendly and worked very well together. The menu is small but the options are interesting, the quality is good and it's presented well.
