I've never ordered food and it come out so quickly. Quicker that Chick-fil-A and we had a party of 12! I was shocked at how fast, efficient, and hot it was. My only complaint is there was tension among most of the servers. They were vocally rude a number of times towards one another and not behind closed doors, but right in front of guests. If that is how they were in front of us, I don't want to know what it's like behind closed doors. Though I loved how fast the food came and it was clearly fresh, I don't want the servers overly pressured to where they are at each other the whole time. But, not sure why they were that way. I really hop we caught this place on an off day. The Mason Jar did not make a great first impression! The person I was with and I ordered the chicken fried steak. I got my meal with mashed potatoes, corn, candied yams, and cream gravy. The person I was with got brown gravy, mash, black Eyed peas, and green beans. The candied yams were sitting in a puddle of water and oil and tasted spoiled. The potatoes tasted like they were out of a box and the rest of the vegetables all tasted like they were simply dumped out of a can with no seasoning. The same could be said for the gravy used on both steaks. The brown gravy was gelatinous/snotty and the cream gravy had no real flavor. The steak tasted freezer burned and was mushy. To top it off the waitress was not the most friendly when we arrived. We arrived at 10:45 hoping breakfast was still being served. When we asked about ordering breakfast, the waitress snapped at us saying, "We cut it off at 11, what else do you want? ". We were never once checked during the meal. The only time she came by was to clear plates and leave the check. It wasn't until then that she showed any interest in serving us at all. Both the person I was with and myself have been sick since we ate there this morning. To add insult to injury, we paid well over what we should for food there was no way we could finish even half of. Like I said, I had high hopes for this restaurant and I hope this isn't the normal standard of service provided. read more

Not a bad meal, but did not wow either. My wife's sandwing looked much better than my beef tips and noodles. My dish was more of a soup than entree, BUT, it did taste OK. The sides weren't amazing either, canned green beans and decent collards, possibly fresh once. The wife got a reuben, it looked real good, and her fries were tasty,[yea I stole some]. The value is there, but don't be in a hurry or expect a five star meal. But if ya want homey meal, in a relaxed atmosphere, garb a chair at The Mason Jar! read more

A great place for a traditional southern breakfast with traditional southern hospitality. Everything was delicious and the service was fast and friendly. Rumor has it they get pretty busy at the regular eatIng times but we stopped for a late breakfast and it was perfect. This is the spot, 2015, breakfast like for lumberjacks or firefighters, dear dear, oh my and mmmmh, ham steak and eggs browns and biscuit... just needed some grilled jalapeños and tortillas to wrap it all up in... monster breakfast. I ate here a month ago. The selection was good but my wife and I just didn't enjoy our meals that much. It was fresh but I had the pork chops and they really tasted more like ham. My wife and I went for dinner on Tuesday evening. I was picking up a load from Florida Natural and wanted somewhere nearby so we found the Mason Jar. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with yes sir and yes ma'am. The place is clean and was very busy even an hour and a half prior to closing. Our waitress was very polite and helpful. The atmosphere is rustic farmhouse or maybe just cozy describes it best. The menu has everything from country ham, to open faced roast beef sandwiches to country fried steak. I chose the country fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. The meal was hot, potatoes were home style and fresh with chunks and the white gravy was just like grandmas. Probably the best country fried steak I've ever eaten. My wife had the massive open face roast beef sandwich with potatoes. The thing was beautiful, lots of meat with a hearty gravy( I tried it and it was good) For desert I had to try the cherry cobbler with ice cream. I was in heaven. It was homemade or seems to be and the perfect temperature. I left a pretty large tip, because the staff was awesome, everyone helped each other out and it didn't matter if the person was our waitress or not everyone chipped in. I also found out the tips are shared which means everyone works together and everyone is rewarded. This is probably one of my favorite places recently and I guarantee that when I get the chance I'll be back for another great meal. I wish I'd taken pictures but we were starved and by the time i thought of it you would have seen empty plates. read more

I was excited to try the fried chicken here after reading an article posted from the Orlando Sentinal. To my dismay they only serve fried chicken Thursday and Sunday not on a Tuesday. Prior to coming I tried to find their menu online. No-luck. We ordered and the meals were good but, not great. Our server seemed very rushed. Only had half my meal ate and she was asking us if we wanted desert. How the heck do i know, I'm still eating???? She left us our bill and told us to let her know if we did. As a meeting planner, I eat at a lot of restaurants. I will say that I loved this place. It's a local mom and pop's type place. The sweet tea is wonderful. The cornbread is warm. The fried chicken was just right. The collard greens were yummy and to also the lima beans/rice. I asked for some chopped onion for my beans/rice!! This place is yummy. Our first visit to Mason Jar and it was a disappointment. Breakfast food is pretty basic and generally hard to screw up. This place is always busy too so we expected more. We were seated quickly and brought drinks. When we placed our order I asked if the cinnamon rolls were made in-house. They weren't. I asked if we could get extra icing and was told no. Our server talked them up, however, so we ordered one. But on a walk to the bathroom I saw a dried out looking cinnamon roll sitting under a heat lamp (I assumed for another table). I let our server know we changed our mind and she kindly offered to take it off our tab but let us try it anyway. It ended up being as dry as it looked under the heat lamp. The other food was ok... the grits were super lumpy. Some of the lumps were almost the size of ping pong balls. The french toast was unremarkable as was the rest. The bacon was nice and crunchy though and was the best part of the meal. Service was good, and our server was nice. Next time I'd check out another breakfast place when traveling through. read more

I really wanted to love this place. So we planned a motorcycle ride around it. We were seated promptly and the one who greeted us took care of our drinks. All good. Waitress finally shows up and asked for our order. We give it to her. We then hear the same waitress ask the table next to us if they would like one of the daily specials! Daily specials?!?!?!?.
