Bernie is hands down (ha!) the best massage therapist I've ever had the privilege to work with. I have been seeing her regularly for several years. She is both intuitive - finding spots that are tight that I didn't even realize - and excellent at listening to what I think we should work on. I really appreciate her very flexible and patient-centric way of working. Sometimes we start with me laying on my side or working on a specific joint or do something besides the traditional deep tissue pressure and I know that she's got an encyclopedia of knowledge to help figure out why a muscle is acting up or why a joint is sore. Bernie is an amazing massage therapist. She was recommended by two friends. I am very particular about massage therapists and before Bernie, there were only two others that were acceptable to me. She always checks in with "how are you feeling today" regarding pain, tightness, etc. She is always aware and checking during the massage how you are doing, "is this too much," etc. In addition to being an excellent massage therapist, she runs a great business. Bernadette is truly amazing. I had surgery on my right chest and under arm. Because it was during COVID, it was hard to get a in person PT appointment. 2 years later, my range of motion isn't where it suppose to be. I decided to see Bernadette for a massage session and have to say it's one of the best I've had. She's gentle yet very thorough... and strong. By gentle I mean... she cares about your comfort level and pain threshold. She makes sure that the entire time if she needs to reduce pressure or increase. Massages with Bernie helped me survive my 3rd trimester. I had sciatica and carpal tunnel along with all the other aches and pains of pregnancy. She was so skilled at relieving my pain. My only regret is that I didn't start these sessions earlier. I will definitely be coming back for post natal massages. Bernie is awesome! I was recommend by my friend and I'm so happy I made an appointment to see her. I have been looking for a massage therapist that will help with my lower back pain. I've gone to relaxing massage salons and massage therapist at a chiropractor clinic and none have helped with my pain. I left some of these salons feeling a lot of discomfort to uncomfortable pain. I thought getting a prenatal-post natal massage might be the next best option. I reached out to Bernie via her website. Within the hour, I received a text from Bernie offering to be seen that same day. Unfortunately I wasn't available and I didn't get to see her till weeks after. However, Bernie reached out if she happened to have an opening. This was greatly appreciated and shows she remembered our conversation. On my first visit, I arrived really early as I didn't know exactly where her place was located. It is inside an acupuncture clinic. The acupuncturist who greeted me was friendly. He let me know I was at the right spot and Bernie wasn't in yet. He offered me water while I waited for Bernie. I filled out an intake form while Bernie set up the room. There is a restroom located at the back of the clinic. The massage room was cozy. Bernie explained to me what she will be working on and how it benefits my body. She asked throughout the session if her pressure was too light or too much. The Spotify playlist she used was awesome. It wasn't the typical water or calming music, it was harps. But the harpist was playing pop-modern songs. I thought it was my mind/ears playing a trick on me when I recognized the songs. It wasn't until All of Me by John Legend played that I asked Bernie. I learned something new and now have a new playlist to listen too. The walls are on the thin side. There might be some people who would hear the acupuncturist and his patient next door but it didn't bother me. I don't fall asleep during massages. For others who do, you might not be able too. Bernie's website has her availability calendar which is very convenient. I have my next appointment already scheduled with her. For my next appointment, Bernie informed me she will try different methods. I felt great after my massage. I did feel lower back discomfort after but not as bad from previous massages. Went to this massage establishment for a an injury to the shoulder. Was hesitant at first since I saw that Bernie (the owner) specialized in prenatal. I was quite positive that I was of the wrong gender to begin with but I was in a rush and I need a solution immediately. Boy was I wrong! Something about the motherly attention that was given to the injury site as well as to the related muscle groups that slowly convinced me. I'm a personal trainer and cross fitter, and thus I'm quite critical of professionals who may not know their stuff. However Bernie had a way of finding the muscle(s) that were affected and making them new again surprised me with her touch. She was professional, personable, and knowledgeable. As a nurse, my line of work tends to be moreso physically demanding. My body was begging me for some relief to my achey muscles. I looked into various masseuses and their accompanying reviews. I really liked what I read about Bernie, and decided to give her a try. She is so sweet, easy-going and personable that I felt very comfortable from the start. The room is kept cleanly with a relaxing ambiance. After my first session with her, my body felt phenomenal. A lot of my muscular tension and pain subsided. - More recently, I came to see her for some problem areas, (my lower back and calf), and she exceeded my expectations of providing me with some relief. She spent a lot of time targeting the areas that needed some help with various techniques, and pressure tailored to my comfort level. I didnt realize how much some of my knotted areas had been affecting my posture until afterwards. I even felt plantar foot pain relief following her targeting my calves. :) I will definitely be back. I found Massage Mesa after I had a botched perinatal massage from someone else. Bernie is fantastic. Frequently checking how I'm handling pressure, making sure I'm comfortable (hard to find a good position when there's someone doing somersaults in your tummy), finding the tension in my muscles and working through them meticulously. I've since convinced my husband to buy me her package deal for Christmas because I completely trust her to find all the sore spots and work them out. After one session I feel like I walked out noticeably taller, I think I was hunching for weeks before that session. I bought a session for my mother in law who was complaining of shoulder pain, she loved the massage, wants to keep coming back anytime she is in town. The last session I had with her a couple days ago, I had this intense tightness in my right shoulder. She did not give up on it, tried out multiple ways and placed my arm in various positions to really work the deeper muscles that are hard to reach from my backside. And it worked!
