Really nice guys, very knowledgeable and not out to get you! I have a very low car and its always a problem to get work on, let alone a new axle. These guys were careful with my wheels and helped me alot with warranty work once we found the axle was defective. This is more of a repair shop than a modification shop however these guys went out of their way to help me and even hooked me up with Newtons down the street for an alignment (also hard to find for lowered cars!) read more

Car has been acting up for a while and I finally took it in to get looked at. I wasn't sure where to go and saw Masters had great Yelp reviews so decided to give them a try. I called as soon as they opened in the morning and they said they could squeeze me in later in the afternoon to get it checked out. I liked that they were upfront and gave me a quote on how much the labor would cost to look at the car (around $60 for 1/2hr of labor). Gregg explained everything in layman's terms so that I (someone with limited car knowledge) could understand. They were very timely in making repairs and fair with pricing. Also appreciated that they have a waiting area upstairs with a couch and some chairs if you are sticking around. Highly recommended! read more

Its very intimidating to get my car worked on because I have no idea what they are talking about and always feel like I'm getting taken advantage of. They did a great job for me. Took in my girlfriend's car cause the tire was making some strange noises. They found the problem, called me up with a quote between $325-350, and replaced the wheel bearing all in the same day, and even came in at $324 for everything. Quick, friendly and fair pricing. I finally found the best mechanics ever! My engine light came on, so I went in with no appointment, and described the problems I had been having so they hooked it up to diagnostics, changed two coils and I was on my way within 20 minutes! It was the best and most professional experience I have ever had at any auto shop. They explained everything in detail and I was amazed they did the work so fast. I told them I would definitely use them if I had any other problems. Well, as things go... that same day my son told me his car was shaking and lurching forward when he stopped, so we went in the next day, and again, they were awesome. They diagnosed the problem, gave us an accurate estimate and timeline and fixed it within 4 hours. The mechanic also let us know that the airbag was actually turned off and that we could go to any dealership and have them fix that at no charge. This was a safety issue we weren't aware of and it makes me extremely happy that we can take care of it now. They go above and beyond any auto service shop that I have been to. I can't tell you how happy I am that I have found them and they definitely have a customer for life! I can't recommend them enough - 5 stars for sure! read more

This is simply the best auto repair shop in every area of service we have ever used in our 60 years here on the Monterey Peninsula. Great owner and mechanics who are just as friendly, patient, polite, communicative and HONEST as they are mechanically talented. Just yesterday, as we were leaving on an out of town trip our car engine just started coughing, misfiring and even shaking. Without any advance appointment we raced into Greg's shop and they calmed us and said they'd take care of the car. When we returned from our trip ( using a rental car ) the very next day our car was ready and the repair bill for a clogged up with carbon part and loose alternator belt was what Toyota would charge "just to look" at your car. Arriving to get the car I didn't have my credit card with me and we were actually allowed to take the car home and pay by phone! You just don't find personal services like this anymore. Whoever finds this Masters team is being given a gift. One of the best things about living here on the Peninsula is knowing we have The Masters there for us when we need them. I was having some trouble with my Honda Element stalling when going up hills, I wasn't sure what the issue was so I brought my car here due to the excellent reviews it got on Yelp. They guys there were super helpful and fixed it up quickly. A few days later I was having some problems with a check engine light that had turned on, I brought it back in and they were more than happy to help and got it taken care of right then and there. I was intending to buy a used car out in the Monterey area and needed a professional evaluation. Being that my family mechanic is located in San Jose, I couldn't very well take the car all the way back there, so I called up The Masters based on a prior Yelp review. The guys there were totally awesome. They told me what all I should bring and what information I should find out from the seller of the car, and got me right in as soon as I showed up. I had the full attention of 2 different mechanics (I missed the names, but I think one was Steve or Steven) who gave the car a good onceover 3 or 4 times. They did not rush too much, and answered all of my questions along the way, with just the right amount of joking to make it an enjoyable experience. I have worked with many mechanics and "car guys" before, and these guys were knowledgeable and honest. Oh, and best of all, they did the entire exam for no charge and a great attitude (not like they were doing me a favor or something). If I lived in the Monterey Peninsula area, I would definitely do my regular servicing with The Masters! read more

I took my 2001 Accord to them a while back because it was leaking coolant. They told me that the work done on it wouldn't take long, but they had a lot of cars to get to. I recently had to make a decision about whether to repair my 2004 Odyssey (163,000 miles) or to look into buying a different car. Greg not only walked me through all the immediate repairs that it would need, but gave me an informed opinion about future work that would likely be necessary if I repaired it. He also made himself available to answer any questions I had to help me make my decision, and he never pressed me to make a decision. These guys are the best mechanics I've ever found. They only do work that is actually needed, and I've heard them even try to talk a person out of work that they thought they needed but didn't. We always bring our cars to them for service, and don't trust anyone else. We literally factor them into what cars we buy, in terms of whether they will service them. My dealer quoted me $1200 for a routine 30,000 mile service on my Ford Mustang. The Masters laughed at that and told me it would only cost a few hundred bucks. They pointed out that you gotta ask why a manufacturer would make a car that needs a twelve hundred dollar service only 30,000 miles in. They did the service for me, even though they don't typically service Fords. We love these guys! read more
