Stopped in on a Friday evening and it was busy but not packed. The inside bar truly is the smallest bar in Chicago - very narrow area but once you're through there are a number of other seating areas! We sat in the front screened in porch area and it was super well heated - felt just like being inside somewhere and had nice mini fireplace heaters throughout. Across the group we got a variety of cocktails from a whiskey sour to a gin martini to a woodsman to a daiquiri - all were good and some even came with a little extra! Cute lowkey place, fun red lighting and disco balls throughout, would definitely visit again.

Stumbled upon this bar from a recommendation. On a quiet evening, this was a warm, intimate bar. The music wasn't too loud. The lights were just right. The bartender knew exactly what to recommend based on your drinking preferences. There is a good amount of seating options as well. If I'm in the area, this is somewhere I would stop by at again. The vibes here are top tier!

The lighting inside the patio! Great vibe!

Love the vibe at this place and will enjoy it again soon. But not having the food option and having to go around d the block to get the food that IS offered brings this place down for inconvenience. BUT (and it's a big but) everything else about this place is incredible. It's small, cozy, and has great vibes with the lighting, music, closeness and all that goes along with being a mom n pop, hole in the wall in the middle of Chicago! And the food, even though around the corner, was amazing as well. Review of that place coming....

The Matchbox is unique and that is its appeal. As the smallest bar in Chicago, it can be nearly impossible to grab a seat (the indoor bar has only a couple seats) but it's worth it if you do! Service here is spectacular and their cocktail menu is awesome. Prices are steep but you're paying for the quality of the drinks and the atmosphere. This isn't a place you'd come to watch sports (there's only one tiny TV) and it has an upscale feel to it despite being located at the busiest intersection in west town.

Such a festive vibe in December and love the recently opened Good Neighbors bar inside the train car. Fun music and holiday pop up.

Ducked in here on a drizzly Thursday afternoon while waiting to meet a friend. I opted for a simple margarita that was made well, and the excess pour was kept in a cute little glass for me in the side of my main. I loved it! Felt like a neighborhood bar, and the bartenders weren't overly friendly but they mixed a mean drink which is all I ask. Will definitely return on my next trip to the neighborhood, seems like an easy place to while away an afternoon.

Everything about this place fills my old dead soul with joy. It's quintessential Chicago. Charming no nonsense and comfortable. Love it love it love it.

My friend and I came here for some after work drinks. The place was empty so we had all the seating options in the world lol. We sat outside in the covered area. This bar is very small and narrow and can see it getting filled quickly on a busy day. I started off with the gimlet which was absolutely delicious. Might become my go to drink (or maybe just when I come here) I then had 2 espresso martini this. They were so delicious and the best I've had so far. Will definitely return and make sure to bring all my friends here.

I've been walking past this place for weeks and have been dying to check it out. My friends and I came on a beautiful Tuesday night, sitting around the Adirondack chairs enjoying a variety of drinks and pizza from across the street. The drinks were solid. Service was adequate. And I wish I could tell you about prices, but my friend stole the check and refused to let anyone else pay. I'll be back!

On a Thursday night, this place gave off a great vibe... I love the patio area with the red lighting all around this place. The way it is laid out is very interesting, but it still felt inviting to me. Our bartender was really friendly, and this was a great way to end our drunken shenanigans after getting too lit at bowling, lol! I hear this place is awesome to come to during Christmas time with all of the decor. Will definitely need to come back for that!

It's a reasonably-priced busy dive bar in the heart of Chicago. I asked the bartender if she had a beer + shot deal and she said "no, but you can order a beer and shot." And so we did! Noise level is fairly high, thanks to a lively crowd plus a jukebox. They don't normally serve food but I think are fine with customers bringing in your own food, and you can also place an order from a nearby restaurant (I don't recall which one). And yes, it's cash only so bring some money if you don't want to pay ATM fees! 4 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact. I like bars that allow customers to bring (or order) their own food - it allows for all diets! The one thing I'd like to see is more beer on tap - even just one good rotating local beer (e.g., Goose Island). Draft beer has smaller environmental footprints compared to bottled or canned.

After a quick ID check at the door, the bouncer let us know it's cash only (thankfully we came prepared). From the moment we walked in, dim lighting, loud music, and shoulder-to-shoulder crowds gave the vibe of a full-on frat party, but not in a bad way. It's chaotic, energetic, and unapologetically no-frills. There's even a self-serve cooler with drink prices clearly listed underneath. I grabbed a Sapporo Premium, brought it to the counter, and our friendly bartender broke our change and offered a chilled glass to pour it into. Simple and efficient. That said, it was loud, so loud that even whispering-distance conversations were a struggle. The space is small, seating is limited, and since we couldn't snag a spot, we ended up leaving shortly after finishing our drinks. This feels like a better weekday hang than a packed weekend night. Still, if you're looking for a classic, gritty, no-frills dive experience, Rossi's delivers exactly that.

He's deeply involved in the beverage scene, and with a partner who is starting a mezcal company, they're always on the hunt for standout cocktail programs. This time, we ended up at Gus' Sip & Dip, located at 51 W. Hubbard St., Chicago, IL 60654. While we were there, a friend mentioned that Gus' Sip & Dip has been recognized among the top food and drink destinations in the country, and after my visit, I can absolutely see why. The atmosphere is fantastic, think modern speakeasy with a touch of 1940s charm. The space features rich green tones, cozy booths, and an intimate layout that works especially well for small groups. Larger parties can take advantage of some of the bigger tables throughout the space. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. Just be aware that this place is popular, so depending on when you visit, there may be a wait. As for the food and drinks, everything we tried was excellent. I didn't manage to get photos of everything, but a few highlights included the burger, the Italian beef dip, and the chicken pot pie. Every dish was flavorful and well executed. The cocktails were equally impressive, every drink I sampled was thoughtfully crafted and delicious. I would absolutely come back. The only thing worth noting is that it's a bit on the pricey side, but if you're looking for great food, exceptional drinks, and a memorable atmosphere, it's money well spent. If you have the budget and good company, Gus' Sip & Dip is a true gem in downtown Chicago. 5 out of 5 stars.

Whether you're celebrating something special or just looking for a great dinner, the atmosphere alone makes it worth a visit. The service was phenomenal. Our server checked in frequently without ever feeling intrusive, and we always felt taken care of. That level of attentiveness really elevated the entire experience. The drinks were outstanding. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the most unique versions I've ever had. Smoky, strong, flavorful, and incredibly well-balanced. If you're a cocktail lover, don't skip the drinks. We started with the Little Gem salad, which was fresh, tangy, and the perfect way to kick off the meal. Light, refreshing, and packed with flavor. For mains, we tried both the steak sandwich and the chicken sandwich. Both were fantastic--crispy, flavorful, served on great bread, and paired with delicious sides. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. But the real star of the evening? The Sweet Corn Agnolotti. My. God. This dish completely stole the show. It was one of the most unique pasta dishes I've ever tasted, and I still think about it to this day. The flavor profile was complex, creative, and unlike anything I've had before.
