Please read this before you shop here. With the holidays approaching, I was in need of a sleeper sofa to accommodate overnight guests. I found a cute suede futon sofa/sleeper in dark gray at The Mattress Center in San Marcos, Ca. A helpful young lady by the name of Angela helped me. She answered all my questions, even allowed me to take pictures of the item. I asked Angela what other colors did it come in. She said light gray and dark gray only. The dark gray was the only one on display. It's the one I took photos of, and it's the one I liked. I checked about 6 other places to compare prices and see if I found anything I liked better. I didn't. Furthermore, I went back and purchased the futon from the Mattress Center in dark gray 11/9/21. It was delivered on 11/10/21. It came in 3 pieces: the two arm rests & the center. While the delivery men were still in my home, I noticed the arm rests were both light gray and the center was dark gray. I immediately called Angela and advised her of the problem. She assured me when the delivery men got back to the store after making their other deliveries (I was the 1st delivery of the day) she would have them check the boxes and pull the dark arm rests and return with them, and she would call me back. She stated they must have taken the box of light gray arm rests in error. I even followed up and emailed her with a video of what was delivered. She never called me back, responded to the email, or had the correct arm rests delivered. On 11/11/21 I called the store at 10:30 am and asked to speak to Angela. I spoke to someone named Juan, he said Angela wasn't there. I explained the situation, and he said he was unaware of it and to call back in the afternoon to speak to the owner/ manager Neil. I called back at 2pm spoke to Juan again, he said Neil still wasn't there but would be there at 4pm and to call back. Furthermore, I called at 430pm and spoke to Juan a 3rd time, and he said Neil wasn't coming in today due to a family emergency. He would be in on Fri 11/12/21. At this point, I know when I'm being given the run around. As of today 11/12/21 no one from The Mattress Center has reached out to me. And I have a two toned futon that I didn't order/purchase. I only accepted the delivery because I was assured the problem would be rectified. And I had no reason to believe it wouldn't be. This is bad customer service at it's finest. read more

I had a fantastic experience at the Mattress Center. We walked in casually looking for a futon for my office/second bedroom. The customer service was spot on. He shared with us a variety of options, offered to show us the convertibility of the futons, and encouraged us to lay down to see the differences. We did! We choose the super plush one. The next day, the wrong item was delivered. So we stopped by the store to let them know of the error in the delivery. Well, as we waited, we noticed a different model. Neal was great with his customer service gave us the whole break down on every mattress we decided to try. Answered all my questions. They had a wide variety for our selection we expected to go all over furniture row looking we didn't even last an hour looking before we made our purchase. He values his work and explained and even showed us how the mattress we like worked with an adjustable frame and I was happy. We asked about a mattress pad cover and he showed us them all and explained what it was best for sold us on the one that was best with pets. We purchased Saturday like around five for the mattress next day by 11:30am. They delivered LOCALLY for $50 that included taking the old mattress again I emphasize on the word locally for that delivery fee. I usually struggle to sleep I kid you not I fell asleep by 11:30pm on that mattress (typically I fall asleep like 2-3am) I was like holy cow this put me right to sleep! 10/10. read more

Been meeting to write this review for over a week but better late than never. So my wife and I were shopping for a bunk bed for our daughter and went to see what they had because we had already tried every place elsewhere on furniture row. They didn't have what we wanted in stock but the guy there showed us a catalog. We found something in there and we were a little skeptical about not being able to see it first. The guy told us we could order it and when it came we could come take a look. The quality was more than our expectations. Then we had another hurdle that we wouldn't be ready for it for a month due to a house remodel. He said no worries I'll hold it for you and when your ready we'll deliver and assemble for you. Awesome service! Fast forward a couple months... Our kids had a big sleep over and somehow it the mix the drawers got broken(turns out they were climbing and jumping from the top). We called the mattress center told them about our problem and no worries. They came out and fixed everything for only $45. That was above and beyond if you ask me and I would recommend them to anyone. Wow I walked all the throughly the store, saw a woman who was watching a movie behind the desk and some guys in the back. No one noticed me let alone greeted me of sold me anything!! Unacceptable. On a positive note the prices look reasonable, and the furniture quality is good. What a great experience I had at The Mattress Center in San Marcos!! There are SO many mattress & furniture stores, that your head can SPIN when you start looking! I'd decided recently to turn a downstairs office into a guest bedroom. I looked online, then visited three shops, trying to find the perfect bed. Luckily, I found a full-sized mattress that was firm, not soft, with just the right comfy feel. I also bought it around the July 4th holiday, so I could snag a better deal! The weekend sales guy was great, and so was Juan, the manager. Both were very personable and informative, especially for first time bed shoppers who have a million questions!! I'm so happy with my purchase, and Juan worked with me to make sure I had all the parts I'd need to set it up. It looks fantastic now in the downstairs room!! We bought a mattress from The Mattress Center in March of 2014. This year (2019) our mattress was no longer providing the comfort or support we needed so we began searching for new mattresses. I happened upon the original receipt, and called to check on the mattress warranty, expecting a possible pro-rated replacement cost, or a lengthy and possibly costly warranty process with a lot of back and forth with the manufacturer. I was asked to provide a copy of the original receipt and photos showing the issues. To my surprise, here I am 3 weeks later, sleeping on a warranty replacement mattress for simply the cost of delivery. The Mattress Center handled everything! My wife and I needed a new bed/frame for our guest room. We checked out a larger furniture store, but weren't overly impressed. Dropped in here for a quick check. Thankfully it's so straightforward that there's little shopping that needs to take place. We ordered a bed, frame and foot/headboard. We were to be called when it was available, which we weren't. Thankfully our order was ready when it was supposed to be. Not the warmest of environments, so if you're looking for that "cower at your feet" level of customer service, you won't find it here. We did lots of shopping before investing in two new twin mattresses. We went to several locally owned places, a warehouse and two "national brand" stores. Neal was knowledgeable. He provided the information we needed and listened to us. He did not talk the other stores down. We got exactly what we needed and a good price. After deciding on a remodel of my girls' bedroom we started shopping online. It became overwhelming fast, so we headed out to furniture row. We hit the big stores, Ashley, Mor & Jerome's, with no success. We saw Mattress Center as we were driving out and decided to pop in and I'm SO glad we did! Neal allowed us to look around at our leisure, without sales pressure. He offered online options if we didn't see what we wanted in the store, with the promise of having it delivered as soon as possible. We went home and my daughter found what she wanted on one of the sites Neal had given us. I then found a cheaper price on another site. We went back the next day. Neal matched the online prices and did a delivery AND set-up deal for the beds within one week! We ended up also ordering two mattresses, a boxspring and mattress protectors! I'm so happy we stumbled upon Mattress Center and we will definitely go back here first for future needs! PS - while I was waiting for Neal to complete our paperwork he offered for me to sit in an incredible massage chair. I sat there for a good 30 minutes, no kids, and enjoyed the peace!!! Buyer Beware is an appropriate warning here. The Mattress Center refused to give me a full refund and collect the mattress and base that were causing extreme back pain. I had to contact Stern and Foster myself. Eventually they sent someone out and discovered the mattress had sunk on both sides. How can this happen with a brand new mattress? I received no help from the store. Please do not buy from this store. I am still out of pocket for the delivery because I gave the two very helpful guys a tip of 20 USD, not expecting there to be any issues. I also spent about 40 USD sending out the certified letters to Stern and Foster. This was a high end mattress and within 3 months it had significant problems. The least the Mattress Store could have done was to return my calls. This is not an appropriate place to purchase anything, much less a mattress and base. read more

I was ready to give this place a very good review. Since it is a family owned business they are able to negotiate prices which was really helpful on the pocket. However I am pretty angry at the fact that I was told my bed would be delivered Sunday between 12 and 4. Then call to find out the forgot they needed to deliver my bed and it would be 6 or 7 until they were able to deliver. I wasted my whole day waiting for this delivery and they still expected me to pay $50 delivery fee. I argued with them and got it down to 25 but I'm still extremely pissed that I wasted my whole Sunday waiting around for them instead of running errands. read more

I can not say enough good things about The Mattress Center. I relocated to this area last year and I have fibromyalgia and I was starting to notice that the Cal King Mattress that we had was not helping me at all as I began to wake up every single day with my back always hurting. I had not gone "Mattress" shopping in a very long time and not at all since relocating here from the Bay Area. Typically I am a very savvy shopper and will check out 2 or 3 and sometimes even 4 different stores before making a purchase for something that isn't exactly cheap, but moreover, it's a bed and a bed should be comfortable and once you have purchased a mattress it's not as if you can just change your mind about it in a month or 2 down the road. I was so impressed with The Mattress Center as my Sales Associate Thomas was extremely helpful, and he knew everything about pretty much every mattress that I looked at. And he spent a lot of time with me especially considering that they were about to close. Anyway, I promised them that I would write a "raving review" and have been remiss at doing so as there has been a lot of pressing issues to contend with. Nevertheless, I just can't say enough about how impressed I was. I learned that the mattress that I was looking at was made right here in the U.S.A. and I found it to be the most comfortable bed I tested and I checked out at least 10. I wanted an adjustable California King and it turns out that the makers of this mattress don't charge extra for turning a California King into 2 XL twins! And instead of having metal coils inside the mattress it has individual coils that are designed in such a way that they are not interlocking and they have areas that have extra support and comfort in our body's natural way that needs it. And instead of the bed having foam inside of it, it has 100 % "Organic Cotton" which studies have proven keeps the bed at approximately 37% cooler as I did some independent research on my own. On the day the delivery was scheduled I received a call from "NEIL" the Manager of the store to inform me the bed had not arrived yet for that particular day of delivery. I was disappointed but Neil was so incredibly nice and accommodating I wasn't upset at all. In fact he felt so badly that he asked me if I would like a couple of mattress covers designed specifically for Cal King adjustable beds. Apparently a previous customer had ordered them and when they came into the store they thought that there was only 1 mattress cover in the pkg. so they declined it and Neil said that he would be happy to give it to me because of the inconvenience of me not getting the bed on the scheduled day. Well, it turned out that I did receive the bed 2 days later and I am absolutely thrilled with it. It is so comfortable and both the top of the bed and the foot are adjustable. In fact, you can raise the top to 90 degrees if you'd like. That's a little much for me but it truly is very comfortable. Last year we also bought a Queen mattress from The Mattress Center. I would recommend this store to anyone and everyone that I meet as they don't just sell the mattresses and then forget about you. They offer a very nice warrantee for their mattresses and I never for one second felt any pressure at all. For me, that is a huge plus as I have walked out on many a store in my life when I feel as if I am being followed, and watched and eventually very annoyed. Such a great experience here! Nate Lamont was SO helpful and patient, and helped me find the perfect mattress at an INCREDIBLE price for our new guest room. He also showed me a bed that I fell in love with, and will definitely be revisiting when it is time to replace our master bedroom mattress. Nate was incredibly nice, receptive, knowledgeable, not pushy at all, and listened to me about what I was looking for while respecting our budget. He was wonderful, the store was clean and nice; it was a wonderful experience. The delivery was prompt, quick, and the delivery men were helpful as well. We had our new bed less than 48 hours after ordering it. I am a single mother of two and buying things for myself does not come around often. When I was able to make the decision for a gift for myself and my oldest, I decided on new beds! Looking around online I was confused on pricing and where to go. I knew my friend had gotten her bed from Macy's, so off I went. The prices were outrageous. I found a bed I liked but couldn't pay that price. So off I went feeling discouraged and even more confused. I reached out to a couple friends and they recommended places like Ashley's furniture, More Furniture, etc. Prices online were so expensive. My mom suggested we try a "mattress store", one that only sold mattresses. We drove by Furniture Row and saw so many places! I didn't want to stop somewhere I hadn't heard of the name. So, off to Mattress Firm we went! I walked in and the gentleman was with other customers so we waited by the door and he let us know he would he right there. Once he came to us, he asked what brought us to their store. I let him know I fell in love with a Tempurpedic at another store and he asked why. I was like, why does he care about why I liked it. Lol.. Long story short, you might think you like this matress and really that matress is not the one for you. I almost bought the wrong bed for me, but grateful John my sales guy knew his stuff!!
