After 15 years of being a loyal customer they decided to start charging an additional 3% for using credit cards and even for DEBIT cards. What a shame! You can't tell me all of a sudden, they are adding 3%, and that they didn't already have that cost built into their prices for all these years? Phil (and his family) is not stupid... He's done a great job building his business and they have come a long way. I paid $23.99 per pound for an 8 lb standing Pime Rib Roast. This may have been the stringiest and toughest piece of beef I've ever had. I roasted it to 120F in the center. It was quite disappointing to serve to our guests on Christmas. We will be taking a slice back to them, so that they are aware that this is not acceptable. The flavor was exceptional. read more

By far the best meat the Appleton area has to offer. You may think their beef prices can be on the side of pricy, but considering the tasteless yuck our local grocery stores have to offer, I'm willing to spend a few extra bucks and drive a couple of miles to have good key ingredients for enjoyable meals. It's also great that the staff are very friendly and helpful. If you're in need of a new grill or smoker, or any accessory for such devices, you can also shop the attached BBQ Pits n Spits. There you can find your favorite new grill, smoker, charcoal, barbecue sauce, rub, special cuts of your favorite wood for adding smoking flavor, etc., etc., etc. You will probably find it here. I stopped here with my Daughter. She had been here before, but it was my first time. I was very impressed with the friendly atmosphere, the cleanliness and variety. Not only do they have a huge variety of meats, they have some deli and produce too. I can see why people like it. I love a good pot pie and they have homemade chicken pot pies in two sizes, individual and family. I got the small one and cooked it up today. It is absolutely delicious. This place is AMAZING. If you're looking for a good butcher shop, this is it. Not only do they have cases of hot sticks, burger patties, brats, chicken, etc...they also have specialty prepared chicken breasts and all sorts of meat behind the counter. Very shopper friendly and not intimidating if you don't know exactly what you want. And everyone is so friendly. All the workers ask if you need help, have questions, etc. We live about 45 mins away and it is well worth going out of your way to stop at this locally owned business. The Meatblock is the type of meat market that we all have heard about from the distant past. The employees are like family and remember and interact with their customers. Their meats are of the highest quality and are very well trimmed. Prices are very fair for the excellent quality offered. Butchers know meats as well as how to prepare them and are willing to offer suggestions, if they are asked for. They will also do extra preparation or special put-ups on request. The selection of groceries available has saved me many trips to the local grocery stores.
