So after trying the pizza place next door which I was really happy with I gave this a try since it's the same owner. Kids at the counter were nice and accommodating, they have a pretty good menu, nice place inside over all. I got the chicken tenders which were really good not greasy but definitely could use some salt. But I was okay with that . The sauces aren't anything to rave about the mustard was too sweet for me, and the bbq was basic . Substituted the fries for an extra tender . But good real chicken and would definitely come here for them again. Now the 17$ philly cheesesteak is definitely an over priced bust!!!! Not enough cheese/ dried out meat/ way smaller than the Normal and usual Philly should be. Not a foot long, no end pieces that were cut of seems just to fit the box. And the meat itself had zero flavor as well so a complete waste of money on this item. Ive never written a review in my l8fe there is always a first time. MY wife ordered The 420. Thats is Mac and cheese with chicken nuggets of some kind. The Mac was watery and had a pretty bad taste as I noticed when my wife spit it out in disgust. The chicken was overcooked and hard. I opted for the cant remember the name but their version of patty melt. Im not a big lover of smash burgers to begin with as I find them overcooked. The burger was good , my only complaint was it was way over salted. Also ordered onion rings. They weren't bad. Overall, not the greatest experience.Probably won't recommend this place or go back. Anything that is not explicitly stated on the menu item adds up real quick, like cheese etc. so watch out thinking you are getting a burger closer to the cheaper side ($9) and end up paying over $12 for a couple of things you thought were basic and included. We ordered a couple of basic burgers and nothing else, very slow afternoon on a off-season Sunday, and it took them around 30 minutes to prepare. Staff was courteous. Came here during the summer to enjoy the Roackaway Beach and since The Meat Up Grill is so closed by the water I had to check them out. The location is just a walking distant from the beach so that's a huge plus because all I had to do was order my meal and walk back to the beach soak up the sun some more. As for the the restaurant itself, it's nice, spacious and clean. The decor is modern and the staff seems friendly. They have high chair dinning set up for those that opt to dine in As for their menu, I came here twice already for their grilled truffle cheese sandwich. It's sooo good and even though it's a bit pricy, it's worth the treat. The cheese is gooey and the truffle flavor is spot on with a nice balance of honey sweetness drizzled on top. Overall, I like this place. The only reason why they lost a star is because the two times I came here, I didn't see any of their staff wearing a mask. read more

I could not have asked for a better post-beach experience at The Meat Up Grill. This place is a great addition to restaurant row (as I call it) on Beach 116 St. The restaurant is pretty much all you want in terms of burgers, fries, and ice cream. While the grill has fun, fatty burgers, they also have a few healthy bowls for the more health-conscious folks. During my visit, I went with the Tsunami, which was a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings and coleslaw. I gotta say that this burger definitely was one of the best burgers that I have eaten over the past few months. The burger was a great reward from a day of sitting on the beach and sucking in my belly to look skinnier. Unfortunately, I was a bit too full to try an ice cream cone or a milkshake. Hopefully, I can try out the grill's desserts during my next visit to the Rockaways. Also, I found the staff to be very friendly during my visit, and the service was very much on point. read more

Rockaway has always been my favorite go-to beach destination as it's just close enough to home, yet feels like a real authentic beach when you get there. At first, there was not much to eat in this area but thankfully more food places have opened up recently. After a long, peaceful day spent at the beach, I was hungry so I decided to check out meat up grill. It's right on the main stretch so as soon as you get off the boardwalk, it's a short walk. The location is standard sized and fast casual so you go to the front place your order and wait for your food. I tried the mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders and fries, and the burger with their special sauce. You can customize your food as much as possible- and it's served fresh and made to order. The staff is also incredibly friendly. I love the quality of the food and it really fills you up especially if you were out in the sun all day. Highly recommend anyone who is in the area!! read more

Ordered takeout for the family after a beach day. We tried the meet up burger, tsunami burger and the beast. All were a hit with my family. The meat up burger is simple w pickles and their house sauce (MUG sauce). The tsunami is a bacon cheeseburger with an onion ring, coleslaw (not too much Mayo), pickles and BBQ sauce. Mr brother really liked the beast: it's a cheeseburger w pepper jack, an onion ring, mushrooms and bacon with the MUG sauce. It's a little spicier than the rest. All their burgers are 1/4lb brisket beef on a potato roll. The milkshakes are also great! Next time I'll be trying a double! Love this spot... 5 star! read more

I've read a few bad reviews about this restaurant and I don't get it. I've been coming here for a year now ( at least once every 4-6 weeks) and the food is always freshly cooked, hot and delicious. The employees are ALWAYS kind, respectful , cheerful and upbeat with a smile on their faces. We came today and I ordered my favorite....the Meat Up burger with everything except cheese , fries and raspberry Snapple. The burger was as always delicious with MUG sauce, pickles, lettuce & onions.?The patty was fresh not frozen and cooked perfectly. The fries are always golden brown on the outside and tender on the inside and perfectly salted........even though I'm a salt addict and always add more My son ordered the OG Burger that has 2 patty's, bacon, pickles, lettuce, MUG sauce ........ he doesn't like onions. I barely had time to snap a pic before he inhaled the burger. He's pretty picky about his burgers but he loved the OG burger and is irritated with me because I haven't brought him here in the last year ‍ All in all, this is great restaurant and a fantastic addition to our community. We needed a good burger place (they have other dishes also) here. The RUDEST woman behind the counter. I should have walked out before allowing her to complete my order but my husband and children were waiting at home to eat. I would starve before I spent another dollar there!!! The restaurant is somewhat cute. The menu seemed like the food WOULD have be good but it's not. They are selling overpriced frozen, processed crap that tastes like you just ate at a 711. Sloppy food... cheap tasting buns. All for the whopping price of $45 with a generous side of shitty attitude. The food in the Yelp pictures is absolutely not that they are serving at the Meat Up Grill. Like Ally C says, Meat Up Grill's food is purely of convenience. It is 7/11 style, sloppy and depressing fast food. It could be cooked by a 12 year old and a microwave. In fact, the menu could also be designed by a 12 year old! Grilled cheese, chicken tenders, cheese fries with congealed cheese. When we were there, they had to take a break from taking orders because they were so overwhelmed. Good food!!! But the service is really off putting. Never any kind of recognition that a customer has walked into the establishment. Would be nice to hear hello or welcome... heck I'll take some kind of eye contact. The young lady working the register is their only saving grace in terms of any kid of customer service. I want to give one star but again their food is good and creative. Fusion inspired classics work here. Expect loooong wait for food unless you preorder. Such a shame. Nice looking place, very clean BUT the food I received was not very good at all. Very disappointing considering that their food from the Riis Park location was always very good. The chicken sandwich was definitely microwaved.( no doubt) The inside was piping hot and the outside crust was barely warm and not crispy. Telltale evidence of a reheated piece. What makes it even more of a shame was it was actually a nice piece of chicken. The burger I ordered medium rare was cooked more to medium well. (Possibly waved as well?)Not one hint of pink or juice. Not sure if the bacon or the slaw on it were the source of the salt bomb. I did not pick up one hint of any aroma coming from the kitchen and the order came out way to fast for these items to be cooked fresh. Make sure you go to the restroom before you come here as there are no restrooms available. Callie's on 129 st blows them out of the water as does Popeyes. Yikes!! What a disappointment. My husband & I are foodies, we love a great menu & great food, this place was not it. The website features amazing items that look incredibly delicious, we went there and were completely puzzled by the menu. Then we found out there was another location. Ohhh that makes sense this must of been a pop up of sorts. NOPE, other location offers about 8 menu choices, 2 burgers, a hot dog, a braut, chicken fingers, 2 types of fries. Where's all the other food from the web site? I ordered chicken fingers, 2 fries, a braut and an OG burger. $54.00 ?!?!? The burger had nothing on it but cheese, I basically paid $17 for a double cheeseburger, no guyere, no mushroom or onion or bacon, forget the frozen fries & a braut with only sauerkraut on it, no peppers or onions as pictured on a martins potato roll. The fingers were rock solid fried , threw them away. It took 25 minutes to get this crap. Meanwhile I ordered fried Brussels sprouts next door which were delicious by the way & the order was up before I got my change. I was so disappointed in this place. Everyone that walked back with food from every other place looked delicious and fresh. I had total food envy. Not to mention the bar next to this place is sooooo over priced. It cost us $30 yes $30 for a frozen margarita & a beer. Save yourself the trouble. Order from the seafood Restaurant next to them or the Carna place. Bring your own beer. Total buzz kill. read more
