I'm disappointed with the AHC fluid flush service on my Lexus LX 470. I was told the fluid was flushed. When I called to ask about it, I was told that the reservoir itself was just dirty. That explanation didn't really give me confidence that the service was done properly. If the fluid was actually flushed, it shouldn't still look this dark. I expected better results. I'm satisfied with the work that was done on my Prius V -- the new brake pumps and brake bleed were completed well, and my car is driving great. The only concern I had was the time estimate. I was originally told the service would take about 3-4 hours, and I dropped my car off at 8:30am. It wasn't finished until the following day around 4pm. I was later informed that the brake bleeding was more complicated on a Prius V because of its unique system, which I completely understand, but the delay did catch me off guard. That said, the customer service made up for it. Gus at the front desk was excellent, friendly, informative, and patient with all my questions. He even taught me new things about hybrid systems, which I really appreciated. Because of his service, and the honest pricing I received, I would absolutely return for future repairs and maintenance, even though I live in Laguna Niguel and they're in Mission Viejo. I also want to mention one small surprise: I was asked whether I brought my own brake fluid. I ended up purchasing theirs (three bottles of DOT 3 at about $14 each). I was told the quality was higher than what's sold at auto stores, which is fine...just unexpected since those usually run around $8. Not a big issue, just feedback. Overall, I left feeling that I could trust this shop, which matters a lot because many mechanics tend to inflate prices. Here, I received fair and accurate pricing. Other shops quoted nearly double for the same service. I appreciate the work and the customer care, and I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Took my Tesla model Y in to fix a clicking noise I heard while driving and charging. They found a pebble in the fan that was hitting the blade. Diagnosed and fixed for $200. Meanwhile Tesla mechanics wanted $275 just to diagnose. Tesla mechanics overcharge and keep your car for hours on end. Go to these guys instead. They fixed in less than 2 hours. I made an appointment and took my vehicle in on Friday for an oil change and vehicle inspection. The gentleman took all my information and told me I would receive a text message with the invoice. When the invoice arrived, I noticed the oil listed was 0W-20 instead of 5W-30, which is required for a turbocharged engine. He texted me back with a corrected invoice and mentioned that if I had provided the VIN number, this issue could have been avoided. Since he had the vehicle in his possession, I wasn't sure why I was expected to volunteer any extra information. Four (4) hours later, I called, and he informed me that I could come pick up my vehicle. Over the weekend, I washed my car and checked the oil level, only to realize that the oil was overfilled--by about the same amount as the distance between the minimum and maximum markers. While this is bad for any vehicle, it's especially harmful to a turbocharged engine, where excessive oil can cause increased pressure, foaming, leaks, and potentially damage seals or the turbo itself, if driven too long. I called on Monday and scheduled a new visit so they could remove the excess oil. That took another hour, and when I arrived to pick up the vehicle, it was parked in a handicap spot All in all, this was far too much hassle for a simple oil change. read more

5 Stars Across the board. Brought our 2014 Honda Odyssey for 60K mile service (oil change per Honda) and a few other repairs. The oil pump gasket needed to be replaced and while they were doing that, it made sense to also replace the timing belt (due to age of vehicle) and water pump. It was very easy to make an appointment and get a rough estimate of the cost. From the time I dropped off the car to when it was promised was super smooth. The repairs where completed on time and anytime my wife asked them for an update, they responded. First and foremost, both Geoff and Gus are expert mechanics. They work on your car like it's their very own and you can tell they love cars. The workmanship and care is high quality and there is no corner cutting. We used to have a 1999 Lexus RX 300 that we brought here. No problems back then, no problems now. The same consistency and care for your vehicle. I highly recommend them to all my friends and will be bringing back the van when it's time for a tune up and spark plug replacement. read more

Don't come here, they will overcharge you!!! I took my Honda accord because of the engine light on my dashboard. They took hours to send me a message and they said that I need to pay $231 for them to check in detail. After that, they called saying that I need to pay like $2000 something. It was ridiculous! I didn't get to do that, but I still need to pay $231 just for the basic diagnosis and computer analysis. I used a coupon that went to $208, but can't believe they charged that much for a computer analysis. On top on that they said you're in danger driving your car like that. I think they aren't honest at all. I could've taken my car to Honda instead. read more

This place is seriously shady, so not come here unless you want to be completely scammed. I took my Prius in and was quoted $80 service fee, left while they serviced the car (an oil change) and then received a quote via email I was being asked to pay at that time for $175. I called them and asked why I was being charged so much, and the guy said "oh my bad I forgot to double check, I don't know how that happened. I'll fix it." He sent a new bill for the correct amount, but that original charge was no mistake- it was a hopeful attempt that I would just pay without double checking. When I returned I was told that my transmission fluid was "DANGEROUS- change now!" They showed me pictures they had supposedly taken of my fluid ("look how black and thick it is compared to the light pink it should be, you're in danger until you change it. That'll be $$$"), I was shown images they'd supposedly taken of all my cabin filters ("look at all the filth! The leaves in there! Change them for $$$") and was also told that there was a screw that was damaged and would be expensive to fix but it was likely dangerous and they would call me with a quote on the price to fix it. Never called though, thankfully. I can't check my own transmission fluid because, Prius, but just went or another shop for my scheduled maintenance and was told that my transmission fluid isn't due, and that since I never changed it there's a tab in place left by the manufacturer that is moved if anyone ever checks it or changes it and it was still in place- these Mesman Motors guys never even checked it, just showed me a picture of some bad looking fluid and told me it was mine. My cabin filters are also all clean, I need no maintenance, my only issue was taking the car to Mesman Motors. Never again. Don't go if you want honest work done. read more

We had overheating issues with our car after replacing a broken hose. Took the car to Mesman who performed a tricky diagnosis quickly but then kept the car for a full day performing multiple additonal tests to ensure the problem was completely solved. It's been nearly a month since the service and I'm happy to report we have had no issues whatsoever. Their attention to detail and care in servicing our car most likely prevented a much worse and much more expensive problem from arising. I took my 4Runner here a few years ago and was completely surprised to learn how good of service you could get from a mechanic. I used to do my own work so it's never satisfying to merely be told something without seeing evidence. Luckily Mesman has a good pipeline where they send you photographic evidence of the issues and they take time to discuss the issues with you and never pressure you to do stuff you know isn't important. Communication: 10/10 - Provides quote via text and notifies you when car is done. The final cost is spot with the estimate. Pays attention your request. 3. Cost: High on premium side. Far more than taking to dealership. Part of this is their high overhead cost and to do premium quality job they need to pay mechanic premium salary. 4. Overall this is a high quality shop. Easy to find location. 5. Personally I will not return due to my financial budget. I will just DIY. This is just my personal choice based on the age and current value of the car. I highly recommend Mesman Notors, they fixed a long time problem I had with my Nissan Armada brake/starter function. They gave me an upfront quote and kept me posted as a discovered the problem and fixed it. They were more than fair and their price and was more than half of what the dealer quoted me. The people were very accommodating with my schedule and made it easy for me to leave the car before working hours and pick it up after their hours. There were no extra or unnecessary charges, only what they quoted me. The icing on the cake was everybody I talked to was very professional and was very nice and took the time to explain the process. I highly recommend Geoff and his team! Also, it definitely helps that Gus is always prompt in answering the phone and being so personable just like the owner Geoff. Picked up my car and literally spent an extra 40min just chatting it up with his crew! I've had some bad experiences with car mechanics that I was really taking a chance on Mesmen motors, and boy was I absolutely GLAD that I went with them. I own a 2010 Toyota Yaris that has seen better days and they were able to do the job needed to get it up and running again without upselling me on anything. Geoff even gave me advice on what to do next should I choose to do the other "easier jobs" with my husband. What I love about Mesmen motors is they fully diagnose your car and they show you pictures of what the condition of said part on your car looks like that needs to be repaired before they start doing the repairs. You have full autonomy on what you want to get fixed without being pressured to fix other things you may not have the budget for. BONUS, They reprogrammed my key for free (I thought I lost my key, got a locksmith, and now that key doesn't work because it needed reprogramming which Mesmen motors did for me!) The communication between Gus and Geoff via text, email, and phone call was EXCELLENT! I knew what was happening at all times and they were super efficient. Left my car on a Tuesday afternoon picked it up Thursday afternoon (which I think is an amazing timeline considering the state of my almost falling apart car) but hey it's a Toyota, it'll last forever ha! We've never used Mesman Motors before, but we will now! My husband asked Geoff to do an inspection on a 2016 CX-5 with under 40k miles that we were considering to buy for our daughter. Without knowing us, he was very happy to help and quoted a super reasonable fee. The dealer said it was in perfect condition and Car Max showed no history of accidents. Geoff however, found body damage and that it was burning oil! We were about to buy this and Geoff saved us from making a huge mistake! He couldn't have been more helpful and went above and beyond! This year I had to buy a new vehicle due to my turbo beginning to fail and the cost of replacement being more than the vehicle was worth (10 year old car with 230k miles.) When looking for a new vehicle I considered only Japanese imports because I trust Jeff and don't want anyone else working on my car. My latest visit to Mesman Motors was as good as always. Geoff and crew have set the bar high over the years and they continue to match their previous good work. This time we needed a new radiator on our Subaru Outback. It had some minor leaking recently which I thought was from a hose but when my wife came home from a drive to the inland empire last week it was obvious its time had come. I did my due diligence and called around for pricing from a few local repair shops, but in the end, Gus and Mesman were the only ones who were able to give me a detailed quote via email in less than an hour, and who said they could have the repair done in the same day. Their price was a little higher than some of the other verbal quotes but the combination of my previous positive experiences with them and the ability to get the car back on the same day made it a no-brainer to go back to them. I dropped the car off around 11:15 am, went for a mountain bike ride, and by the time I got home at 3:30 pm got a text saying the car was ready. Gus explained clearly everything that was done, gave me some tips, and took care of the transaction quickly and efficiently. The good service didn't end there, however. Since I picked up the car they have followed up via text to ensure things were going well and to give me the opportunity to provide feedback about my experience. Geoff, Gus, and the Mesman crew prove why supporting local businesses is so important, you just don't get this kind of service from chains or dealerships. After a bad experience with the Econo Lube n' Tune in Laguna Niguel, I took my 2004 Toyota SR5 4-Runner to Mesman Motors. After a brake job and oil change, I was told by the mechanics at Econo Lube the transmission fluid was "black" and I needed to service the transmission with new fluids - they quoted me a cost was $250. I decided to try Mesman instead. Mesman quoted me a cost of only $125, exactly HALF that of Econo Lube. Further, after servicing it, Gus told me the transmission fluid really wasn't *that* bad, meaning Econo Lube had misrepresented its condition. In addition, I had asked the mechanics at Econo Lube that the VSC Trac light in my dash stayed on, and for them to correct it. After an expensive diagnostic, they said they didn't know what the matter was as there was no code indicating an error, and that it was a short that had to be fixed. Gus and Mesman told me the issue wasn't a short, but that the on-board computer had to be reset such that it could recalibrate. It fixed the problem, and Mesman didn't charge me *anything* to do it. The only challenge is that Mesman only works on foreign imports - primarily Hondas, Toyotas, etc, and, you need an appointment. But they're a small family-owned shop, which is a BIG positive, so I don't mind making an appointment. Given my experience with Mesman, I'll be using them again for both my 4-Runner and my wife's Honda Civic. read more

Geoff and his team are the best!! My car got overheated today and I was completely freaked out... It was almost 5pm and my normal mechanic is already closed. So I searched on Yelp and trying to find a mechanic in the area that will take a look at my car... I saw the great reviews on MESMAN motors and thought to give it a try. Geoff answered the phone and said normally the mechanics go home at 5 but he's willing to check out for me to assess the problem. I was there in 2 minutes and it turned out the relays of the fan was malfunction and need to replace. Thankfully the mechanics went to pick up the parts for me right away and my car was fixed in less than an hour!! I am very impressed with their customer service and went out of their way to help me out! I think I will give them a try for oil change next time since they open on Saturdays. Thank you again Geoff! My sister had I decided to have a ladies day we met half way between LA and SD. Her car decided to louder and shakier than ever and so she decided to get it checked out. They were fair, honest and went above and beyond to make sure they provided a thorough check on her mini van... They didn't push any service onto her just to get business they advised she'd make it back to LA and have (whatever it was) fixed when she got back.
