9/9/2026 Simply the best! I called Mike last week and made an appointment for today to have my wife's car serviced. Oil change, filters and brake check. I arrived this morning and Scott greeted me and did the intake on the vehicle. I walked to a nearby eatery for breakfast and then walked back to find the waiting room at 949 Auto Repair nice and cool unlike the 105 degree outside weather. I was greeted by Gary, the owner and Mike, the General manager who are both terrific individuals who honestly treat you like family. Gary, Mike, Scott and all of the shop mechanical specialists are by far the best around and such honest, transparent, kind professionals. I have recommended this fine establishment to all of my neighbors and friends as it's rare to find this level of professional, honest, trustworthy and skilled auto shops yet 949 Auto Repair definetly wins that label. Their rates are very competitive and more than fair especially knowing that the work is being done right and you truly need what they say. I have brought my 88 Pathfinder here multiple times to be worked on, and they have always delivered excellent service. Mike, Gary, Scott have all been a pleasure to work with. Pricing is really competitive, and that's hard to find in a trustworthy mechanic. They are never pushy with suggested services, but will outline them to you and the problems that may occur down the line. I have never felt pressured to do work I didn't feel comfortable with. They've done quite a few minor repairs for my OId school Japanese SUV. This would otherwise be a 5 star review, however I was told of an oil leak and a suggested service was to power wash the bottom of the vehicle to see where the leak was coming from w/ a dye, however upon inspection the oil pan, transfer case etc. had not been cleaned, and the dirt was still caked on. I attribute this to perhaps a miscommunication. I decided not to escalate because the AAA Discount helped offset the cost. I hope to continue coming here, as the location is perfect for me to continue doing maintenance on my vehicle. read more

I brought my Datsun 240z to 949 Auto Repair to have a slave cylinder installed, thinking that would fix my clutch engagement issue. Unfortunately, it turned out the real problem was that my clutch and flywheel combo just didn't work together, so I needed a new clutch. Michael and the team were awesome throughout the process. They worked with me to troubleshoot the issue, kept me updated, and were totally honest about what was going on. Their work was great, their communication was clear, and they didn't try to upsell or rip me off, which is rare to find in auto repair. I completely agree with other positive reviews. 0 stars for anything SMOG related. 0 stars for catching anything obvious on a test drive after their repair, if they do one. 0 stars for their word over the phone and in-person. Be sure to get everything specifically in writing. I suffered a great deal of disappointment in the chain of events that took place when I called them for smog problems. First off, I will say I have had good experience in the past with VERY simple repairs that took zero diagnostic work beyond them running a scanner one can purchase from tik tok for $10. Now anything beyond that, I would not recommend at all. I have a 01 Silverado that was having a hard time passing smog. I worked with a Michael or Mike there who was friendly on phone and in person. I told him that I had it with not being able to pass smog even after the tips like starting it with ac on, running it from cold every day for a week, etc When I went to him, I told I gave up and needed his/their help. I told him that the smog place told me I needed to replace a simple vacuum hose (see picture) and asked them to please replace even if they dont think that's it, just in case. Mike was insistent that it wasn't the hose depicted. Again, told him I want it replaced anyways to just check off that box. After getting it scanned and leaving it for a day maybe I forget, Mike told me it was the MAF sensor and that would diagnose the problem. He called me a few days later and told me everything was good and that the smog was barely emitting anything, as they too were a smog station but wasn't the type I needed. But, he assured me that he replaced the hose I asked for, diagnosed and everything was ok. I picked up my truck and was super happy, the check engine light went off, and I was off to the smog shop after putting 100 miles on it to warm it up just in case. I did notice a new weird humming noise but chalked it up to the new MAF sensor settling in, as I assumed they wouldn't give my truck back with an obvious humming/whining. Well, low and behold, the same trouble codes showed up at same smog station Ive been taking it to, see photo for trouble codes. So I went back and spoke with Mike being extremely disappointed. I asked him to look at the truck with me. I asked him again if he replaced the hose I asked him to replace. Sensing I was going to point out the obvious with the whiteout, he said he just cut it. Then I told him I failed because of the same trouble codes. He then said there was no guarantee that his diagnostic would fix it, but it did take care of trouble code. WOW Then, he suggested I drive it for a certain speed to reset everything then he'll re-scan. Well, I did that day in a short time frame and it still showed same codes. Then during another drive immediately afterwards, the truck made a clunk noise and died. Turns out, the whining noise they should've caught during a test drive after the repair of MAF sensor was the rear differential going out. Needless to say, I took it to another shop to be repaired. The other shop asked me if I heard a whining noise as if they were psychic. WOW They explained that if this shop would've heard the whining, especially after test drive after repair, they should've caught it. So, my fellow Yelpers, very unfortunate chain of events. Good news is I found a great mechanic out of this horrible experience. I am contemplating taking them to small claims court depending on their response to this. My total out of pocket was the $400 something I spent with then, $650 on used rear diff/axle, and $500/$600 labor. So about $1,700. I'll see if the owner will be a gentleman and cut me a check once I produce receipts and a formal demand (if necessary) or if we have to take the matter to small claims. We shall see. read more

My wife and I don't take our cars anywhere else. Our cars are difficult to work on as well...one being a European car and the other a hybrid electric. My car overheated so I went on Yelp to find a reputable mechanic since I'd recently moved to the area. Luckily I chose 949 Auto Repair. I called them and spoke with Scott. He said bring my car in and the could get an idea of what was wrong that same day. The shop is very clean and organized. Scott was helpful and friendly at the front desk. After dropping the car off, Gary the owner drove me home. I live about a mile away, but I still felt like that was a nice service. After the evaluation, it was determined that I needed a new water pump and thermostat. I ended up needing a new radiator as well, but that's another story. Overall I recommend these guys. They seem honest and knowledgeable. I'm not sure why they didn't replace my hoses when they replaced my radiator, since the car and the hoses have over 150,000 miles on them. The cost for the repairs were fair and comparable to what is currently standard. read more

I brought my 2015 X4 BMW in for repairs to the radiator but they failed to notice oil was leaking into the engine. Especially after completing the repairs and you notice a large amount of smoke still coming from the vehicle which was the reason for bringing the vehicle in. The Team here serviced my 2006 Audi A3 and we're able to diagnose the issues for everything. They then called to ask before repair and even had recommendations for what they think is the best option.
