We found VanVets online because we wanted a mobile veterinary service for our older pupp. He was declining very quickly and we wanted to be prepared if the time ever came. We filled everything out online, followed all instructions for both ourselves and our pupp, and scheduled an appointment for a vet and tech to come out for an evaluation. Shortly after submitting everything, we received a call and our appointment was scheduled for the following morning. Unfortunately, very early the next morning, we had to rush our pupp to VEG 24-Hour Emergency Vet Clinic. There was no good news. The vet doctor and techs there made our pupp comfortable for a few hours so we could bring him home. From the moment we walked in, our pupp was in excellent hands. Everyone handled him with genuine care, gentleness and compassion. What was originally supposed to be a checkup with VanVets became an in-home euthanasia. I certainly was not prepared for that, but I knew I could not allow my pupp to continue in excruciating pain. VanVets arrived with a vet and her tech -- two very soft-spoken, compassionate individuals. They calmly explained every step of the process before proceeding. At each stage, the vet respectfully asked for permission before continuing, and that level of care and humanity continued through the very end of my pupp's life. During all of this, my entire focus was on my pupp-talking to him, rubbing his face, kissing him, and making sure he knew he was forever loved and will always be missed and remembered. The vet and tech were incredibly gracious and patient. Nothing felt rushed. Everything was slow, peaceful and calm, even through my constant tears. After everything was done, they quietly stepped outside and gave us all the time we needed alone with our pupp. There was never any pressure or rush. When we were finally ready, they came back in and gently explained the next steps. VanVets had already coordinated everything with West Coast Pet Cremation & Funeral Service, and I cannot say enough about them either. They were compassionate, calm and caring during one of the most painful moments of our lives. I highly recommend all three of these compassionate businesses -- VanVets, VEG Emergency Vet Clinic and West Coast Pet Cremation & Funeral Service -- for anyone needing exceptional pet care and genuine human compassion during such difficult moments. if i could give 0 stars for this sad excuse for a practice i would. i put a 2 star review because i…read moreknow that you're able to petition yelp to remove 1 star reviews. now that we have the introduction out of the way, if you are someone who is looking for compassionate, end of life care for your fur baby, i implore you to look elsewhere. i strongly believe that businesses are only as strong as their weakest link and that link would be Craig Swanson, the practice manager. since i am a fair and honest person, i will say the only thing that this sad excuse for a manager did properly was a prompt phone call after filling out an online contact form and giving me contact information for some place else more competent than himself and thus his clinic. for the things that were done tactless and just quite inconsiderately: when i expressed to him that i was wanting to schedule in-home euthanasia for my senior pup, he began telling me how booked out he was. as if it was an inconvenience to schedule him. then i told him that i was thinking of something for friday and he began telling me that he wasn't able to give me a time estimate because that would cost more money for a set time. then when i explained that i understood it would be a time window, i just wanted to know what the window would be so that i could inform my family,he then began telling me that another person had an appointment for that time and that the vet would have to drive 30 minutes to get home???? why is that something that you would tell a customer. he was completely lacking in empathy and just customer service skills??? he did a great job at making me ask him the same question 3 times before he gave me an actual answer. then when i asked if he was the only one i could talk to, that's when we got to see the real Craig. he instantly stopped prioritizing the call and was saying that he needed to answer the next call that was ringing in the background. once i hung up, i called back in an attempt to speak to someone else. i assumed i shouldn't write off the whole clinic based on the poor customer service skills of one employee. i even read the radiating reviews from other people. unfortunately that was not the service that i received. when i asked to speak to someone else, he outright refused. he said that if i am not a current patient, i could not speak to ANYONE from the vet team. not even a medical assistant. then he also proceeded to tell me "Well you could go somewhere else and pay $700 at another vet." as if their lower prices was some sort of selling point? Craig, I hope you are reading this, i'd rather pay 3x the rate you offer to ensure that i would be able to send my fur baby off with love and dignity and not with some manager who couldn't even be bothered to answer my questions about a simple time. if you could treat someone who can talk to you like this, i could only imagine how you treat those who can't. and oh the icing on the cake, craig hung up in my face when i gave him back some of his own sass and said "i'd like to speak to someone who is a little more competent than you." so anyone who is on the fence about this place? get off of it immediately and pay more for a place who will actually treat you with decency like Lap of Love.... i kid you not, Lap of Love called me 5 minutes in between this place and the way i was treated was the polar opposite of this place, it's insane. also i included a photo of my sweet, 14 year old baby mason, how dare you treat him like a inconvenience? ADDENDUM: i never asked for the phone number to their vet. i specifically even offered to wait on hold until they were available when Craig so rudely told me that they were busy helping other pets and that he wouldn't pull them from their other appointments to help with mine. (his words not mine) i told him that i wanted to talk with them for some more reassurance that i was placing my pet's life in capable hands and he said i could not speak with them unless i relayed my question through him first.

How would the Chinese herb help if she could not eat anything? Tell me how that would have helped her? I explained she has not eaten for 2 days so what makes you think she can take that herbal medicine? To help out by sending medical records over to the hospital is not a favor. When I lost my last cat I decided I wouldn't be returning there. It's hard to decide who to trust again after such a long positive relationship. About six months later I ended up with two kitty siblings and one was acting super weird. Dr. Johnson diagnosed him with a super rare condition in cats on our second visit (10 days total). He had corrective surgery and now he's doing great. I credit Dr. Johnson with saving his life along with the surgeon. The surgeon told me most vets would not have picked up on that in such a short amount of time. I am so grateful to Dr. Johnson, and I feel really happy that I found another vet I can truly trust. - my kitty gets a yearly test to make sure everything is still working as it should, and today when I walked in to the office 2 kitties greeted us. Immediately they went to my cat carrier and calmed my boy down! They calmed me down too. Then one jumped off the bench to usher a small dog into his exam room. On top of that, my dog was given barium "to clean the gastrointestinal system," even though barium is only used for X-ray studies (and no X-rays were done). These treatments made the bill much higher than expected. What also disappointed me is that the clinic didn't provide any guidance on diet or home care -- they simply handed over the medications with no advice on how to help my dog recover properly. I hope the clinic can be more transparent and informative so pet owners fully understand why treatments are done and how to care for their pets afterward."

We rushed him in when he ate some of his bone and looked like he wasn't properly breathing. He got extremely lethargic, started shaking and worried us enough to scoop him up and put him in the car at 10pm to bring him here. As soon as we walked in the staff welcomed us at the door and buzzed us in. They took his vitals right away and looked at his gums which were still pink so that was all good signs they said. His temperature was good, too. We then were asked to wait on the couch with him till the doctor could come talk with us. As we were sitting there, another poor doggie was rushed in with an emergency more important for sure so the vet was focused on him. Which was totally fine! As we were sitting there, Eddie stopped shaking and seemed like he was getting better, thank god. The vet did eventually come over to us and she was so nice. Dr. Kat. She explained that she felt like he seemed pretty normal and that sometimes that can happen and we did the right thing bringing him in and if it happens again we can bring him in again. She told us there was no charge for the visit, which was SO kind. We definitely were expecting to pay something for them checking him, but she said we were good to go. It was so kind of her. Definitely a five star experience. Every single staff member was so nice and just seeing them interact with the other doggie patients, you can tell everyone here really cares and loves what they do, helping animals. Hopefully we don't have to come back haha, but if we do need to go to an emergency vet, this one will definitely be it.

One of the reasons many pet owners choose a primary veterinarian is the expectation that, when an urgent situation arises, they will make every reasonable effort to help. That's why many of us look for a veterinary hospital that offers same-day emergency or urgent care visits whenever possible. I understand that may not always be feasible, but it is an important factor when deciding where to entrust our pets' care. Based on my experience, if your pet becomes sick or injured and you are hoping your primary veterinarian will see them the same day, that may not be an option here. If you need emergency or animal surgery, even spay and neutering, this place is a must go to for all around level of care and their affordable costs. I found this place looking into neutering my cat and found that they offered neutering for an even lower cost than the Spay and Neuter Center of Nevada, and offered the option to do pre-surgery blood work right before (same day) as the surgery, which no other clinic would do (they all try to send you externally, thus making multiple trips and costs add up). I wrote in with an inquiry via email and received a response quickly, called the next day to make an appointment for the next available business day, and overall had a great experience. You must have a microchip and current rabies to do surgery here, but if you don't have that they will do those for you too during the surgery day for a very low cost. The staff here really knows their stuff and if you need any surgery without breaking the bank like you would at a normal vet, this place is the place. Explain to them that my dog was in Dire Straits and practically on his deathbed, and we were unable to do that. I never heard back. After my dog passed I then emailed again and requested a refund as I like everything in writing in case people try to lie. I never heard back yet again. Very upsetting.
