The The Melt has quickly become one of my favorite go-to spots lately. Even with a large crowd of students who had just finished a sporting event, the staff never missed a beat. Everyone was friendly, upbeat, and personable, and the kitchen was incredibly quick, organized, and efficient. Our order came out exactly as requested, including substitutions, which is always appreciated. The restaurant itself was clean, inviting, and had a fun atmosphere that made it easy to relax and enjoy the meal. I ordered the BBQ Bacon MeltBurger, and it was outstanding. The beef was juicy and perfectly cooked, while the smoked bacon, crispy onions, cheddar, and BBQ sauce created a rich, smoky flavor without overwhelming the burger. We got the original melt burgers and they were delicious. Not healthy at all but very tasty. One of us also got an egg and cheese sandwich and said it was a nice "brunch burger" (not actually a burger, but you get the gist !). The garlic Parmesan fries were crispy and flavorful and the food came out pretty quickly after we ordered. Friendly service, too. Yummo burgers. It's kind of fun creating your own burger on the touchscreen and then waiting for its ewwy goody cheesiness. We would have preferrrd a Coke fountain instead of canned. This is my go to place right now after the gym ! The burgers have been an amazing source of protein recovery for me after a tough workout out . I never eat a burger with bbq sauce or bacon BUT here I absolutely love their bbq bacon burger. The bacon is DELICIOUS . It's not the cheap kind . I think they cook them the same way they cook the burger patties as it's not too crispy and has just the amount of fat . Their app to order is so seamless and easy . First time coming here today for lunch. I loved my Swiss & Shroom Burger SO much! The crunchy onions and spinach and the brioche bun brought it to another level. The mushrooms were big and tender, not soggy and shriveled. And that pickle on the side?! We got a mac and cheese...why does it taste so good (and it's also not soggy and mushy)?! So many amazing textures and flavors that worked so well together. It's been at least a year since I ate a burger and I'm so happy to have had such a tasty burger made with quality ingredients. Usually "melt" named restaurants aren't very successful. Grilled cheese seems kinda niche. But this "melt" is so much more. In fact, it's their burgers that make it worth coming here. I could just feel the four that I was expecting to give this place slip away. Probably the most obnoxious part of the experience was just how chaotic it was, not that a restaurant can really account for 30 screaming preteens bumping into you but that on top of the layout of the restaurant being confusing over having to wait in line a second time to get the drink I ordered from the kiosk to the restaurant being super chilly, it was largely just an unpleasantly overstimulating experience. The fountain machine drinks were super foamy and you couldn't really get a good pour. I will say it's a big piece of chicken but the flavor and texture was so mid. The depressing coat you see on top of it is apparently the cheese, I guess. The fries were lukewarm and floppy. I had been going to a location of the Melt in Irvine for quite a while, so I was excited to see that one had opened at Del Mar Highlands. I'm usually here for Sidecar Donuts, the fancy Ralph's, or Handel's ice cream. My favorite thing on their menu is the Mac Daddy grilled cheese, with bacon and Mac n Cheese in the grilled cheese! I get it on spicy garlic bread, which gives it an extra little kick. It reminds me of the old torpasta sandwiches that you used to be able to get in the Midway area, pasta and sauce inside a hollowed out torpedo roll. RIP Their app makes it super easy to order, and you can earn reward points toward free food! Just place it ahead of time so you don't have to wait for your food. read more

The grilled spicy chicken sandwich was pretty good. Nothing really special. It pretty much fell apart and all slid out the back when I took my first bite! The Melt is basically a higher quality fast food burger. The patty is a decent size and has a good flavor without being too greasy. They have gluten free bread but unfortunately none of the fries are gluten free. The service was efficient on a Friday night and there is plenty of seating. I found this place to be excellent! It's in Carmel valley, so a cleaner, more quiet, family, and definitely teenage vibe feel. Its not like the one at the gaslamp quarters. I've never had a bad experience here...until last night. We placed our order and waited 40 minutes for our food. When we picked up our melted cheese sandwich it was ice cold! Not even slightly warm. Our salad had no dressing. But the sandwich was ridiculous. It was served cold. We live in the neighborhood but will not be back. UPDATE: The owners are great and they made this situation right. Absolutely love The Melt. One of the few places nearby with late hours. The space is always clean and cozy, with excellent and easy service. You can order at the counter or via a touchscreen kiosk and seat yourself. Everything I've tried here has been worth writing home about - the Italian Job grilled cheese, Melty Mac, and Spicy Mission MeltBurger are my top three faves. Came here around 2pm and it wasn't crowded at all. The interior is spacious with high ceilings and an industrial (metal + brick) design. Pops of orange color throughout the theme. The menu is small and straight forward, similar to The Habit, they will give you a buzzer and it buzzes when your food is ready to be picked up. The food is displayed on metal half sheet pans lined with decorative parchment paper. I think everyone gets half or 1/4 of a sliced pickle. The worker was kind. I ordered the Classic Meltburger (single patty). The burger itself is quite flat although it's not a compressed disk! I was surprised that it was dripping in juices and quite pink. Apparently, I learned afterwards that usually they will ask you how you want it cooked: medium or well done. Underneath the cheese were diced pickles and jalapeños. I also asked for a Soda Cup and got myself some Root Beer. I think they have their own brand, but sadly it was quite light on the sarsaparilla. I love root beer and this one was lacking. Next time I'll get a milkshake since my uncle was raving about them! My uncle ordered a burger with Bacon and a few other things. He really enjoyed it. He also got a Chocolate Milkshake, it was smooth and non icy. The consistency was great and the flavor of the chocolate was good too. We ordered some Fries to share. It was seasoned nicely and my uncle enjoyed the green seasoning on it, I thought maybe it was parsley but I'm not too sure. The area where the sodas, lids, straws, utensils, napkins, ketchup, and other sauces were clean and organized. They had a good amount of indoor seating as well as outdoor. The trash can was easy to access and it was common sense where to put the tray afterward. So I had the opportunity to try this place again. I want so to enjoy the food. The service was way better this time than before. The employees were helpful and even checked up on us. The location is nice and very roomy. Drink selection is great as well. So this time I ordered the steak and cheese, tomato soup, avocado bacon melt, sweet potato fries, and kids order their stuff. Food tasted great and if you like jalapeños you will enjoy the food. But I don't know why the problem lies when I order their stuff soup, last time I order the soup I got questioned by the employee, this time there was a hair in it, I didn't notice it, my son did because he was the one that grabbed the order. So maybe I won't be eating here anymore. I'm sorry, I attempted twice and get to enjoy. I couldn't eat the soup anymore because I didn't know if they just took the hair out or gave me a new bowl of soup, just goes in the back of my head. The place is very lit up / bright, especially in the evenings.. service is always friendly and delivered with a smile. Fries were good, toppings fresh, and overall kid friendly. The location is at a prime spot near Vons and by the movie theater, so during peak business hours expect a small wait... but from personal experience it's never been that bad or off putting. 4.5/5 read more
