I grew up in La Jolla and would go to the original Broken Yolk location down in Pacific Beach often. I loved it then and still love it now. Every time I come to Broken Yolk I always get a great meal and service is always lightning fast. This Del Mar location is probably my favorite of all of them because there is a large free parking lot directly in front that is never too crowded and the servers are always very friendly here. It can get quite crowded some mornings, but usually it's not as bad as some other places around town. The food is consistently good and the menu is very large so it's a great option for breakfast on any occasion. Inside is quite large and can host many different sized groups from small to large. For this breakfast, I chose a Build Your Own Omelette and added the hollandaise on top which I highly recommend. This place is consistently great and I would confidently recommend it to anyone.

Our favorite place to come for Sunday brunch after church when visiting my in-laws. Daphne was our waitstaff today and she was brilliant--vibrantly friendly, generously efficient (refilling our coffee when our cups were half full), and all-around so cheerfully hardworking. I enjoyed my feta avocado toast with arugula and balsamic drizzle (4.5/5). My husband's Ranchero skillet had scalloped potatoes, eggs and chorizo was flavorful (5/5). Amongst the other customers today were what looked like a sleepover of 8th grade girls in their pajamas and lots of couples and families enjoying a satisfying brunch.

Daphne was a great server! We were seated right away on Sunday for lunch. I got the salmon egg Benedict and classic egg benedict which were a 3.5/5. My boyfriend got the Mom omelette which was 4/5. It was just enough food for the both of us.

This is my fav Broken Yolk location. The staff is so friendly and food comes out fast. I love the corned beef , 2 egg plate with the home fries and sourdough. Had a bite of my husbands egg sandwich and it was yummy. My mom got the no name, very yummy also. My husband got a complimentary churro French toast for his bday, so delicious! :)

Someone once gave me a gift card for a Broken Yolk Cafe, which I've never actually been to a location before. When heading recently to San Diego with my wife, I finally got an opportunity to go there for breakfast/brunch one day. We went to the Del Mar location and had some delicious food, good service, and enjoyed a nice ambiance for brunch. My wife ordered an omelete with potatoes and a blueberry muffin. I ordered a "two eggs plus" with cheesy scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, and a blueberry muffin. We then redeemed my birthday coupon for a free short stack of Cinna-Cakes, which my wife and I shared. We both saved our muffins for later, though between the Cinna-Cakes, the fruit, potatoes, and eggs, we had plenty to enjoy. Everything was tasty, and the portions were generous. We were able to sit down almost immediately upon arrival as we joined the waitlist through the app/website when we were en route to the restaurant. You can also order online at the website (https://www.thebrokenyolkcafe.com) as well as see the menu, learn about catering and how to franchise your own location, and learn about the background of the Broken Yolk Cafe. While they have a location in Arizona, they actually first opened in 1979 in San Diego. They have been featured on Man vs Food and now have 40 locations with 10 more in development. Join the Rewards Club by going to https://www.thebrokenyolkcafe.com/rewards. You can register online and receive a special bonus of a free short stack of pancakes when you register. You then earn points for every dollar spent which can be redeemed for free food. Then, for your birthday, you get a free short stack of Cinna-Cakes, Belgian Waffle, or Churro French Toast. There are also many specials including Mega-Mosa for $7 and 20% off BLTs during National BLT Day. I can certainly use some more Cinna-Cakes again soon!

Broken Yolk Cafe in Del Mar is a charming and cozy spot for brunch, and the overall vibe was pleasant. I decided to try the mimosa sampler, which sounded like a fun touch to my meal. Unfortunately, one of the drinks was served to me in a broken glass, which was really disappointing and, honestly, a bit unsafe. What added to the letdown was seeing another table receive the same sampler, beautifully decorated with fresh fruit and a much nicer presentation--something I wish I had received too. That said, the staff was friendly, and the food itself was decent, so I might give it another try in the future. Just hoping for a more consistent experience next time--especially when it comes to something as simple (and potentially hazardous) as glassware.

Stopped by for breakfast and enjoyed the clean atmosphere. Like many other places, they have a shared lot and parking was not a problem. Food quality was average and portion sizes were good. Soy matcha - I appreciate how our waitress made sure I did not have any dairy allergies Salmon avo toast- large portion but for the price, it's about right. Bread was fine but avo did not taste fresh and tasted more like frozen pre packaged avo. Kids pancake with double bacon- Good sized portion with crispy bacon Kids oatmeal with everything on the side- Tends to be more runny if you prefer this texture. Plenty of strawberries and blueberries given Kids chicken strips with fries and bacon- 2 pieces of chicken and fries were cooked perfectly (crispy but not overdone) Salmon benedict- taste was fine but nothing extraordinary. Service was good but food quality was just ok.

I'd give Broken Yolk a 3.5 out of 5. I had the Chicken and Waffles Benedict. The taste was solid. The chicken was well seasoned, and the hollandaise sauce was decent. But the portion was small, especially for the price. I was left still hungry, which isn't ideal for brunch. Others in our group ordered skillet dishes. The portion sizes on those looked better, but they weren't actually served in skillets. That felt a little misleading. One person had the country fried steak and said it was a bit dry. The service was where things really fell short. Our waters and coffee cups were left empty for long stretches, and it felt like the servers weren't really checking in. The place itself is clean and has a typical brunch vibe. It's a nice atmosphere, just not very memorable. Overall, not a bad spot, but not great either. Some good flavors, but the small portions and lackluster service keep it in the middle range for me.

Yummy food, great service, clean and chill environment! Would definitely come again. We ordered the vegan spicy bowl (definitely spicy!!!) and the hash skillet. My mom really enjoyed her meal and I enjoyed mine! Very filling

Anytime we heading from LA to SD, we stop at this specific Broken Yolk location for breakfast! The vibe is great, the food is amazing, and the service is always excellent and fast thanks to our waitress Kelly. You can tell she cares about providing her customers the best and friendliest service. Will always be coming back here! Highly recommend the breakfast burger, cali breakfast burrito, & Cinnacakes!

Not busy on Sundays before 11:30am. It does get packed minutes before noon though. There's lots of seating inside, outside, and at the bar, so you shouldn't have any problems getting seated within a few minutes. Always a delicious choice for brunch.

    Kids French toast

Took the the girls here (nieces) for breakfast before Legoland. We were seated right away at 9am on a Sunday morning. Service was prompt. They have a great kids menu with a lot of options. French toast and Border Benedict were disappointing. The corn cake was more like corn bread and didn't really match with carne asada bc it was too sweet. French toast was chewy and too eggy. Pancakes and skillet were really good. Overall, it wasn't the worse nor the best experience but great for kids. I would recommending sticking with the more traditional items.

Hi, what's included in Happy Hour? Thanks?

We don't have a happy hour but right now our mimosa special is $5 mimosa and $7 mimosa flight.

I saw a user post that you have Happy Hour from 12-3pm. Is that weekends only, weekdays only, or 7 days a week?

Hi Marc! Thanks for reaching out. Our Happy Hour runs Monday - Friday, 12 to 3pm. Have a good day!!!

The building where this eatery can be found was in the middle of the complex and not visible from the roadside. That made it difficult for anyone not working in one of the adjacent offices to find this place. If you were not from on-site like me, then it's best to pull into the below ground parking structure at the 11220 El Camino Real address and then exit on the surface level to follow the sidewalk signs to reach The Kitchen. The operating hours were limited between 10 am to 3 pm on weekdays. I would have thought they would be open early to serve breakfast hours and maybe that is in the future plans. There were large tables outside for al fresco dining while the inside seating was modern and spacious. It resembled what you would find in the lobby of an upscale, boutique hotel. I read the seating capacity was up to 200 diners. Four menu boards hung above one of the service stations where the cashier was situated. Salads, bowls, and sandwiches were the main categories. A make-your-own bowl or wrap bar was also available for custom made creations. From the Chef's Choice Bowls, my selection was the Soba Salmon Noodles. Three small pieces of soy sesame glazed salmon were accompanied by buckwheat soba, cabbage, cucumber, carrot, edamame, and green onion. If you look at the photo of my order, then you will notice the meager serving as the amount of food did not even fill half of the bowl. That was disappointing for a price of $15. The taste of the mix was fine as the soy flavor was prominent. Between the portion size and the challenging location, I limited my rating of The Kitchen at Torrey View to three stars.

The place was empty but alot of to go orders being prepped. A guy helped me and I asked for all kale for my base. The portion seemed small so I asked him for more base kale and he gave me side eye. Keep in mind this is for their BASE (not toppings or premium toppings) - just the base (you'll see portion at end). I subbed tomato for cabbage and then he added the small scoops of parm and cheese crisps. Then tossed with Cesar dressing (it didn't look familiar this time around). The portion was so small that he even looked at it when ringing it up and I was waiting for him to say 'you want me to add more base' but instead shrugged and said 'it's b/c you omitted chicken'.
