I haven't been to a melting pot in years. Is it dated and cheesy - heck yah. But it was fun and lots of food for restaurant week.

Filthy looking spoon. One of many dirty silverware and dishes Not our usual experience here.

Wow ok....so I've been a Melting Pot enthusiast for over 15 years, typically in other states. I've been to this location in Illinois approx 3 times (for special occasions only since it's a commute). The first couple times were okay, leaving room for improvement. But on this occasion for my family's birthday (just the 3 of us) it earned worst dining experience for a few reasons.... And I did not want to bring it up and ruin our night further ... so we simply paid and were anxious to leave. My family felt the same as me. 1. Dirtiness. Every course included a dirty plate or silverware ... it became sad when my little daughter said she wasn't comfortable eating there since everything managed to have food residue and old crud on it 2. Presentation Serving us our bread on watery wet plates/wet cutting board, so our bread was wet with dishwater (?) At least the water on plates appeared clean though. 3. Wait time between courses. Longer than usual especially considering we know the menu & routine really well and didn't request refills or anything extra. 4. We came for a birthday ... the hostess acknowledged it in our reservation but the server didn't so there was zero acknowledgment from our server on the birthday. 5. We weren't checked on either ... as long as we waited in between courses .... we were their approx 3 hours (only realized how much time passed as we got our check). I felt the server forgot us a few times. 6. There's a few other minor things but I feel this is enough. We all 3 went home kinda hungry and wanted to celebrate at home more ... but it was too late ... we enjoyed our time together, at least, and decided we won't be back to this location ever.

My daughter, fiance and my daughters fiance went here last night. Which was 2/8/25. It was a first for my fiancee and I. My daughter got a new job and it was a congrats kind of dinner. It was fun and the food was decent. I'm not sure the price justifies the food though. What really pissed me off was what Mark the waiter did at the end. Never...ever have I seen a waiter circling the tip of the bill. Because of this, I'm never going back. Very arrogant. So I circled 18% instead. I should have not even given 18%!

An extremely mediocre evening. My wife and I went in for the day after Valentines Day for their Thursdate Special. Pros: Our table was beautifully set up. I arranged for rose petals and roses ahead of time for an extra add on, and it looked lovely. (See photo) Server attitude: Our server was very welcoming and friendly and explained the menu and everything on the table well. Thursdate Menu: Selection was a good deal overall compared to the other deals offered. I REALLY thought the mushroom ravioli hearts were cute (see photo) -Yin & Yang chocolate fondue: yummy chocolate, accompaniment were mediocre (see photos) Cons: Service was NOT good overall: - The hostess was not very welcoming and did not smile at all when we arrived. Nor did the gentlemen who sat us. - The bartender was RUDE RUDE RUDE. For starters, drinks took a LONG time. My wife ordered a peach Bellini and I got a Diet Coke so nothing very complicated. Bartender came out with her drink only and practically tossed the drink on the table, looking annoyed that we were bothering her with our pesky drink order and like she wanted to be anywhere else. We were going to point out that the drink was wrong but waited for our server because we didn't want to anger her further. We waited another 15 or so minutes before our server checked in and pointed out the "Bellini" was just Prosecco and peach Schnapps (no peach purée or juice as described on the menu). She said that was how they make them, so we let it go. - Our server was SLOW and not very attentive. She would disappear for 20-30 minutes at a time and our empty glasses and dirty plates sat a long time before she returned to check on us. Food: - The cheese course: The Quattro Formaggio wasn't great. The wine didn't cook out at all so it tasted of white wine mostly. The mozzarella didn't melt well. And our server spilled the basil pesto adding it to the pot and never brought more (see the photo), so it was bland. - salads: they brought the wrong salad for me. Then the one that arrived was limp, browned lettuce and these weird candies pine nuts that don't really work in a Caesar. Salads tasted like they were made and dressed the day before. Most definitely NOT worth the $8 listed on the menu. -main: the mojo broth was fairly bland, lacking any of the citrus or Caribbean spice described. Meat selection was pretty good. We added the lobster and the selection was good with the date night deal. (See photo) The issue is the price. It's not much steak or fish for the price. -dessert accompaniment: a lot of the dessert dippings were stale. Donut hole, churro, waffle were all a couple days old. Fruit was fine and the macarons and pound cake were nice. (See photo) Atmosphere: - restaurant was loud, and very warm. Made for a slightly uncomfortable and far less romantic evening. In the end, service was very lacking and for the price, we could do a nice steak dinner at most any steakhouse in the area and dinner wouldn't take 3+ hours. I'd recommend looking elsewhere and we likely won't be back.

I love melting pot, I've been to several locations through the years and I'm always happy with the experience. I mostly get the chocolate fondue but decided to try the cheese this time around and I was not disappointed. We tried the classic alpine which was on the stronger side - if you don't like intense cheese this is not the one for you. My husband and I both loved it - it came with cheese and some veggies for dipping. For chocolate fondue my favorite is the turtle. We don't eat anything with gelatin so they were able to swap the marshmallows and rice Krispy treats for extra fruit which was nice. Melting pot has been a prime spot for date night and intimate birthday dinners with the girls - I love the simple but classy interior and the service has always been great!

We went here after lunch only for desserts and tried "The Original" and "Rocky Road". The Original was the best and I would highly recommend. They served extra pecans on the side with Rocky Road incase if we needed to add more. They have a nice bar area/lounge where you can have some drinks while you wait for your table. Overall had a very good experience. Good Ambience. Service was good except for the part that we had to ask for our check twice.

It was dimly lit inside and there was a guitarist playing music. We decided to do the 3 course Prince Geja's combination. The first course included swiss Gruyère cheese fondue with assorted breads, vegetables and fruits. After that they brought out Prince Geja's combination which was beef, lobster tail, shrimp, chicken breast, and sea scallops which you were able to cook in the boiling hot broth. I really liked how there was 8 different side sauces brought out so you could add some more flavor to the meat and seafood. The last course was chocolate fondue served with marshmellows and a side of fire. It was as if you were making smores because it also came with some graham cracker sprinkles. It also came with some fruits to dip into the chocolate fondue as well. The service was great. It was nice they had a coat check. A guitarist sits somewhere against a brick wall and plays music lightly but energetically. Service is friendly from start to finish and smiles are on everyone's faces. The menu is pretty easy to understand. You can get a three-course meal, or you can get each entree à la carte. You have two fondue candles in front of you, one for the cheese and dessert, and the other for the oil. We chose the three-course meal, and it was delightful. We started with the cheese appetizer. You get a basket of bread and fruit and we chose the seasonal cheese to dip. The oil for our meat was then left to heat, and we received a massive platter of veggies and meats for our main course. We chose the option for all selections of meat and seafood. After trying all the meats, I would opt for the lobster and shrimp. You can also substitute the oil for a broth. I would like to try the broth for next time. In one of the shakers, Gejas makes their own meat spice mix. It's recommended to put on the meats and even the desserts. It's a mix of tangy and savory and was a great compliment to the meal. We then chose the seasonal dessert, a white chocolate with vanilla cookies. Fruit, marshmallows, and churros to dip. We were so full by the time dessert came, but we enjoyed a few bites and took it home. The three-course meal, with five types of meat, came with about 10 pieces of meat. It doesn't look like a lot of food, but it truly is, with the apps, veggies, etc, your stomach will be full when you walk out of here. They also start the entire course with a mixed salad (so technically it's a four-course meal). It was very fairly priced, as well. Initially looking at the prices, you may think it's expensive, but it truly is a value with the amount of food they serve. This was rated as most romatic restaurant in Chicago. Its ambiance gives you the romantic feel, the guitarist adds to the atmosphere, and the staff is professional and friendly. This really was a great place and we enjoyed our time and meal.

On my visit here, I tried a different set of items from my Schaumburg visit to test the consistency of quality across different flavor profiles and dessert types, and it delivered perfectly. The mango gelato here is incredible -- with probably the strongest mango flavor I've ever had in a gelato. The Lotus was an elevated version of one of my favorite biscuits. The gelato is incredible, creamy and flavorful -- and something I'd happily serve with most any dessert. The waffle was flavorful as usual which paired perfectly with the chocolate mix. I also wanted to try My Passion to get a mix of different fruits -- as I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh the fruit was at the other location. This was equally as great, with fruit presented at the perfect ripeness. Extra kudos to the kiwi which wasn't sour at all, and in fact was one of the first items to be finished completely. The pineapple was also super juicy, sweet, and flavorful. I wish we'd gotten more eclairs, as the filling was super delicious. Maybe the weakest item in this dish was the brownie, which was only good -- while everything else we'd tried was great to amazing. Overall, worth a special trip for any dessert lover. This one's building looks like a beautiful lodge. While there is an online Yelp waitlist (that goes up to 6 people), we had a party of 8 so I called the restaurant and they were happy to put my name down for a reservation. We came to celebrate my dad's birthday. We brought a cake to share, and when we arrived, our server was gracious enough to store it in the fridge until we were ready. We had 6 adults and 2 kids. Kids under a certain height (I forget the details exactly) are free. So we didn't have to pay for the little ones, and not like toddlers appreciate hot pot anyway. It was more, "how do we make sure they don't touch the pot?!" which went totally fine. It's to position the high chairs the furthest away from the knobs/hot surfaces. On our end of the table, we got the half-half broth of classic marrow and the gold cabbage marrow. The golden marrow was SO GOOD. I would get this again and again, because it's hot/sour; the flavor of pickled cabbage and the spice of Szechuan peppercorns. Our server said the spice builds over time, and it did. It was so flavorful that I barely used my dipping sauce. If you like hot/spicy and sour, choose this broth, it is DELICIOUS. The sauce station and the prepared food buffet was located in the middle-back of the dining area. It's a little packed and cozy in there, especially during the dinner rush, you may need to wait a little longer or keep an eye on the area to determine when to get out of your seat. This same area has self-service personal ice cream cups, soda, additional toppings/veggies/proteins, buffet (fried rice, fried chicken, egg rolls, fried buns) AND the sauce station. What I did love is there was a gentleman who was making balloon animals/hats/characters for sale near the front of the restaurant. He says he does this occasionally when he doesn't have other gigs like parties or weddings, etc, so my kiddo and my niece each got a cat and a bunny, respectively. This made their day! And it was nice for them not to be strapped into a high chair the whole time, and have something to entertain them. Overall, 4 shining stars! It would have been great if they had private and semi-private rooms like the Bridgeport location, but I think this wasn't possible due to their building. It looked like they took over a from a Mangia Bubala Roadhouse (Italian and Jewish fare) which took over from a Connie's Pizza. This place has gone through some changes, but it looks like Happy Lamb will be there for the long-run.

Out here in deepest Suburbia, sometimes things present a vaguely Disneyesque artifice, where, if…read morethe fantasy world was more advanced, "Quotation Marks" would appear magically in the air around buildings (and, alas, people) indicating irony should be applied as a mitigating factor. This is not to imply in any way those places (or people) are therefore any less in quality or to be avoided. But I digress... I've driven past the "Paris Bistro" here, since it was established, and, unfairly thought "yeah, right". Why? Route 59 is a 1000% American Commerce Zone, rife with every franchise on the docket, and conformity is securely on the menu. And rightly so. Folks out here may have had their success, but they were raised in front of American TV, and their consumer habits developed accordingly, especially with regard to cuisine and eating habits. There are, of course, bona fide Ethnics in the general area, but those are germane to the Communities in residence. (Some FAB Chinese, Indian and Mexican places-q.v.) I am not aware of a burgeoning French settlement anywhere nearby. Around here "Cooper's Hawk" passes for "fine dining", and if you've ever fine-dined, you'll know Cooper's Hawk may parlay a decent feed, but it ain't Alinea, Bubba. In the far Western and Southwestern Chicago 'burbs, folks' Culinary tastes are as conservative as their politics. So whither "Paris Bistro"? It's a handsome suburban building with inviting signage. When you walk in, you pass a bar having an impressive array of boozes. Keep going west past the bar and you're in a room mimicking a rural setting, if a rural setting had curved leather banquettes. There's a more traditional dining room on the other side of the bar, but I didn't go in there. It was daytime, and bright, but when daylight ebbs, I'll bet both rooms are romantic. The service is reserved and accommodating-you're not going to find a wisecracking "Alice" on the staff. The menu actually is pretty accurate as a French Bistro in the USA. Lots of Français on it (in the titles), but the descriptions are all clear English. You don't have translation to fear. The menu is extensive, and features many traditional "Bistro" faves, along with select "American" choices. I was in for Brunch. Disregarding conformity, I ordered the Escargot for Hors D'oeuvre, not that I wanted to, but because I am pathologically incapable of NOT ordering Escargot if they are on the menu before me. They were yum, but I wish there was a softer bread available for sopping the buttery-garlic goodness remaining after the morsels are consumed. As "they" say, a French Chef is judged by their prowess in cooking a simple Omelette, so that's where I went. "Jambon et Gruyere" to be exact. It wasn't a large beast, but it was tasty, light, and properly prepared. No sign of the Rugby-Ball pancake-batter-enhanced behemoth omelettes you'll find in common Coffee shops. Accompanying was a (very) small salad of nice composition, with just enough fruity vinaigrette to satisfy. Also on the plate were tasty and ultra-crispy "shoestring fries". I'm not a slave to potatoes with breakfast. but these were damned good. The problem at hand (so to speak) was the transport from plate to mouth, as they were very thin and very crisp. Both fork and spoon were inefficient. I thought of using the spoon to crush them, thus rendering spoon a contender to preserve my dining decorum. In the end, I bit the bullet and just picked them up in hand, decorum be damned. I wish I had a bucket of these for movie-watching snacks at home. The coffee was a conundrum. It arrived with a strongish smell, like it was burnt and past its prime, but lacked the acrid flavor such as found in a forlorn brew. It was actually a fine, bold, cup of VERY dark roast. It's a nice, sophisticated (but not snooty) resto, dignified but not stuffy. If you need to have a business breakfast/brunch, this is a perfect place. Also, if you're not in the mood for the hustle and bustle of a noisy coffee shoppe. Prices a bit higher than you might expect, but... I quite enjoyed both the bread and circuses here, and while I never mistook myself from being anywhere else than in Naperville (not Paris), I caught the vibe, and it was nice. I am officially pissed at myself for not stopping here sooner. No "quotation marks" for this place. Throwing 4 stars (for now), and I'll be back here very soon for dinner.

That room is usually where they sit families. It was not our choice and we voiced our opinion to sit in the dining room. The staff immediately switched everything to the warm and inviting dining room. The food provided was tasty from the mini sandwiches to the tartines to the sweet treats. I have to say there was an inconsistency with sizing. Some were generous and some were lacking. They could've done a better job with consistency so we all got the same sizes. The tea service was very cute but you were only able to choose a couple teas. I've been to other teas at Suzette's and Pinecone Cottage where the tea is unlimited, as well as they ask if you would like another tasting of something that you really liked. I felt for the money this tea service was limited as well as not consistent. It was a great way to spend time with my Pilates friends, though. I could see myself doing this again if there were improvements made and they were more generous by offering an additional taste.

I…read moreinformed the manager about being gluten-free, and he immediately briefed our server, who was knowledgeable, attentive, and accommodating. Our group of four went 100% gluten-free and chose the Four-Course Create-Your-Own. Everything was delicious. We tried their special Limoncello Lemonade. It was marked gluten-free, and while it was strong, it was absolutely delicious! The gluten-free bread was fantastic, and my veggie hot pot bowl featured amazing Impossible meatballs. We had the Rocky Road chocolate fondue and it came with a dedicated tray of GF snickerdoodle cookies, brownies, marshmallows, and fruit. It is rare to feel this safe and pampered at a restaurant while eating gluten-free. Great food, flawless service, and total peace of mind. We will definitely be back!

My husband and…read moreI used to go to the Melting Pot in downtown Chicago back when we were young and dating, so it was really special to revisit it years later--this time with our kids and even our parents. I love that the menu has stayed consistently good over the years. Everything we remembered and loved is still there, including the fiesta cheese fondue, the California salad, and of course the chocolate fondue to finish the meal. It felt nostalgic in the best way. What really stood out this time was how family-friendly the experience has become. It was such a fun outing for both the kids and the grandparents, and everyone genuinely enjoyed it. Our server was fantastic--so kind, patient, and attentive with our large group. She also went out of her way to accommodate the kids when they asked for extra sides, which was such a thoughtful touch and really appreciated. All melting pots have a dark interior which can be romantic but with a family it just felt dark so keep that in mind. Overall, it was a really special night full of great food and memories. We'll definitely be back again as a family.

The fire pit in the middle of the restaurant and the fireplace in the porch-like portion are a vibe. I had the hummus trio, which had some really innovative and delicious flavors (a black bean option, a chipotle option, and some sort of balsamic thing I can't remember the name of but was my favorite). The pita bread they served it with was tasty. Everything else in our group looked delicious, too. They had been here several time and they love it. I'm not out this way very often (or ever), but if I were I would definitely come back.

The menu truly has a little bit of everything, and somehow they manage to hit the mark across the board. One of my personal favorites to start the night is the wedge salad, it never disappoints. They also have a great steak selection and a surprisingly impressive wine cellar that deserves more attention. The atmosphere is what really sets this place apart. The indoor wood-burning fire pits create an amazing aroma throughout the restaurant, along with the relaxing crackle of the fire in the background. Visiting during the Kentucky Derby only made the experience even better and added to the energy and fun.
