    Schweine Schnitzel

Place was a fantastic find. Ordered the Shweine Schnitzel which was superb. Convenient, clean, comfortable place.

Another great experience! Daniella took wonderful care of us after they made room in the packed restaurant on Saturday night. I had the always delicious summer borscht, so fresh with beats, sour cream, dill and scallions. (They sell it at Little Vilnius across the street.) Served with the best garlic potatoes ever! Mussels were scrumptious in an amazing creamy lemon garlic sauce with multicolored gem tomatoes and spinach & perfect garlic bread were more than enough for an entree. The Schweinshaxen platter was amazing! The sauerkraut in particular was the best I've ever had. Then the little farmers cheese beignets were the perfect end with berries, chocolate and berry sauce. Just a lovely experience again.

We moved to the suburbs a few years ago and this has become one of our go-to-spots for a quality eastern European meal. We have tried both take-out and dine-in. Sauerkraut soup Clam chowder Beef stroganoff Lithuanian sausage and sauerkraut Bread pork tenderloin* Potato pierogi Jaeger schnitzel* Country style duck, half duck* Vareniki with mushrooms Crepes with mushrooms Napoleon* The ones with an asterisk are some of our favorites. They now have a very affordable weekday lunch menu that changes on a monthly basis and the portions are huge. We can't wait to return and try the other items.

The service was great given the fact that it was extremely busy. They had live music that night. Almost everyone in there was bilingual (polish I think/ English). I had the SCHWEINSHAXEN 3lbs of pork shank heaven. I didn't care for the pig ear appetizer too much. I will be going back soon. I would suggest making a reservation.

Love the food! Great meat and potatoes type of place. The servers are attentive and pleasant. It's your typical European type restaurant. They have a big party room. Great place for groups. Good cocktail and beer selection. If you give them several days notice, they will cook whole salmon, a suckling pig etc for a big group. They do special menus for holidays.

I was actually going back and forth about whether or not we should go here due to the mixed reviews. I pulled the trigger and decided to come here. Parking lot is ample. It was very quiet on a weeknight. Our server was very attentive. We ordered schnitzel combo, half country style duck, and Siberian pelmeni. Prices were fair for the huge portion sizes. You won't go hungry for sure. Be sure to check out their specials during the week. -schnitzel combo 4.5 - I liked the pork and chicken schnitzel, there was nothing wrong with those. They were easy to cut and the meat wasn't dry. The veal was disappointing, it wasn't as tasty and it was a bit salty. You definitely have to eat them with the vegetables. The spatzle was really good. It's like homemade pasta. It's not heavy. -half country style duck 2.5 - The skin was crispy and the duck was moist. Why the low score? For the price, there wasn't a ton of meat. -Siberian pelmeni 5 - the best dish of the night. I believe the fillings are a mixture of veal, pork, beef, and onions. These are great for either a snack, appetizer, or main entree. You want to dip them in the sour cream and vinegar to enhance the flavor. Would I come here again? I would but I wouldn't order the duck. We went to another European place that had a lot of duck meat. I might check out their specials on Fridays. Overall 3.5.

My husband and I went to Grand Dukes for a dinner date. We wanted Eastern European and wanted it to be close to home. We went on a Friday evening and when we walked in we were greeted by a gracious host. We were seated in a booth and reviewed the ambiance of the restaurant. We were surprised by the chic decor of the restaurant. Friday night had live music which was great surprise for us. It's always nice to enjoy your meal with a lively entertainment. The menu had Eastern European and American cuisine. So much to choose from. Our waitress was super nice and very attentive. We ordered a cup of the borsch soup and vareniki (pierogis in a cream sauce) for appetizers. Both were delicious. For our entree, my husband ordered the Hungarian goulash and I had the Make Your Own Combo - pork tenderloin, Lithuanian sausage with sauerkraut and Kugelis. I wanted a little bit of everything! We shared our entrees with each other to get a taste of everything we ordered. Food did not disappoint! Portions were perfect and food was so flavorful.

Fantastic grilled octopus and the not so good muscles.

We went in for Thanksgiving because it's been so busy and we didn't want to cook. We started with the grilled octopus and it was delicious. Even better were the potato pancakes with duck. Very moist and delicious. The bummer were the muscles. They were not fresh and tasted past their prime. The turkey dinners were amazing and came with copious amounts of food. The schnitzel was awesome as was the German sausage platter. We had the apple strudel and tiramisu cheesecake form dessert. Very good, and we will go back, but I wouldn't recommend the muscles. Server and ambiance were also solid!

My first time dining here was great! The restaurant is very well kept & there is also an events room for special occasions. the food was very good. You HAVE to get the fried bread appetizer-unlike anything I've had before! Our service was great as well.

Today was a good experience. I just worked out and called to ask about the dress code. No dress code, I'll be right there! I walked in and was greeted immediately and sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and gave me time to decide without feeling rushed even as I changed my mind a couple times. I ordered the salmon and Mad Rose to drink. The drink has a lot going on and wasn't for me. It reminded me of a cinnamon orange tea, citrus and spicy. For dinner, I waffled on a couple fish dishes, but went with the salmon. It has a nice, crunchy glaze on it with some nice citrus flavors that weren't overbearing. I wasn't sure how the risotto would taste with the orange, but it worked. I was asked several times how I was doing and how my drinks and food were. Dining solo, I get ignored at times with subpar service. Not tonight access I appreciate that. I would recommend based on service and the dish I had. I will return to try more.

I ordered from Entourage Downers Grove and was honestly impressed with how well everything held up for delivery. The standout for me was the lobster bisque. It arrived at the perfect temperature, which is pretty impressive for delivery. The bisque was rich and luscious without feeling overly heavy, and the basil oil added a nice brightness that balanced the creaminess beautifully. It also had a generous amount of lobster, including several large chunks, and was a very solid portion overall. The filet mignon sliders were another highlight. Each slider had a substantial piece of filet mignon topped with pickled onions, microgreens, and horseradish cream on brioche buns. The onions and horseradish added enough acidity and bite to balance the richness of the beef without overpowering it. I also tried the Vietnamese summer rolls, filled with roasted shiitake mushrooms, fresh vegetables, and rice noodles, served with both peanut sauce and sweet chili sauce. Everything tasted very fresh, and the sauces complemented the generously stuffed rolls nicely. My only small critique is that cutting them in half made for a prettier presentation, but made them a little awkward to dip and eat. Overall, this was a surprisingly strong delivery experience, and I would absolutely order from them again, or better yet, make it over to the restaurant itself next time I'm in the area.

Our server, Ximena, was outstanding. She took the time to share the story behind the restaurant's name and the inspiration for its cuisine, which added a personal touch to the meal. She was friendly, attentive, patient, and never made us feel rushed, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. The Queso Fundido was absolutely incredible. It arrived at the table bubbling hot and perfectly melted. We paired it with corn tortillas, which complemented the rich, cheesy flavor perfectly. That was definitely the right choice! For my entrée, I ordered the Poblano Rajas Burrito, prepared suiza style. It was a unique dish that I enjoyed, although it wasn't what I would consider traditional Mexican cuisine. In hindsight, I would have skipped both the mushrooms and the potatoes. The potatoes, in particular, changed the overall flavor and took away from the more authentic experience I was expecting. The rice inside the burrito also wasn't traditional Mexican rice, but it was still flavorful and well prepared. Overall, I had a lovely meal at Fonda de Paula and look forward to returning to explore more of their vegetarian offerings. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by and giving them a try.

The portion was generous, the lamb was high quality, and the artichoke pesto paired really well with the rich, gamey flavor. The roasted pearl onions were a great addition too. I hate when people at the restaurant say everything is good. Not these young ladies. They made some sound suggestions which we followed. French onion soup and the steak frites were both excellent and priced well IMO. They have a really good whiskey/bourbon selection with a few hard to find bottles. I settled on a Blantons neat. They had Pappy, but I'm not wasting money on that anymore. Food came out quickly and we ate and watched a baseball game. The locals at the bar told us about their membership program where I guess for a small mo they fee you get a bottle of wine and a charcuterie plate once a month. Seemed like a pretty good deal. I don't live anywhere near there, but if I did I'd certainly join. In any case, if you live anywhere close, this is definitely a worthwhile restaurant to visit.
