Thank you so much for making my birthday dinner truly unforgettable! The entire experience was wonderful from start to finish. The food was amazing, and the Wicked Fondue chocolate was honestly the best I've ever had, pure magic in a pot!! It was the perfect treat after coming straight from seeing the movie. I felt so celebrated and taken care of,Can't recommend this place enough!

It's been a few years, but we returned to TMP for a fun dining experience for a friend and splurged quite a bit with extra side dishes, several drinks each, and an a la carte menu. We had a great experience, mostly due to a perfect customer experience from Isabel, our lovely server. We ordered the standard cheese and vegetable broths, but then got the charcuterie board and the wild mushroom ravioli. The board is good, I think it could have a bit more on it for the price. We also had the classic chocolate with the peanut butter and it was so so good. The waffles and pound cake were incredible. For drinks, we had the sugar cookie special for their St Jude's donation drink, it was delicious and holiday-fun. I also had a chocolate fontini and we had a mint mule, but the Yin Yang martini is hands down the best drink I've had with a desert or chocolate theme. It is amazing, definitely recommend. Our server, Isabel was really lovely and fun to talk to. The server can make or break your experience at TMP, so we loved getting Isabel that night. She decorated our celebratory dessert plates and made everything special for us. The vibe is a bit dressier, the cost is higher, but it is a fun thing to do once in a while!

The main meal and dessert were very tasty. The service was face value friendly and adequate at refilling beverages. The signature house salad was very basic. Mixed Greens seemed like bagged grocery store chop, thick Cheddar cheese, a couple Tomatoe chunks, Crouton chunks, I can't remember the Scallions, the Egg was unappealing as well. The plate was very thick and small like at a buffet. Nothing even remotely glamorous about the salad. Not fine dining flavors, appearances, or styling. The land and sea platter came with mushrooms, broccoli, Garlic Pepper Steak, Herb-Crusted Chicken Breast, Shrimp, and Atlantic Salmon. My favorite sauce was the curry. The raspberry dark chocolate option was delicious. Note: After the bundt cake was placed into the chocolate fondue there is not enough chocolate fondue for the pieces we consumed and all the pieces provided were not finished. Almost romantic, good for date night. I'd say the vibe I get is semi relaxing. I'm glad the seating is fairly private with the booths. I can't pin what is taking away from the experience. Whether it's color palate, the carpet, the angles or decor in dining area. Idk I recommend consulting a mixologist for more elevated drinks for the menu. Fine dining usually comes with exquisite flavors for drinks as well.

How long does it take to get food?

Since the food is raw and you cook it at your table, the wait isn't long but you should still plan for a leisurely meal. Two hours minimum.

This place is a dream if you love cheese (or snacks in general). You can sample a ton of different cheeses, and the staff is super helpful at guiding you toward what you'll actually love. I tried multiple varieties and ended up taking home their top-selling, award-winning cheese--and wow, it lived up to the hype. They also have all the perfect add-ons for a cheese board, so it's an easy stop whether you're building a picnic, hosting, or just want a great souvenir from Madison. Save this for your next trip to Madison, Wisconsin!

They have such a wonderful selection of all things cheese related. Not just delectable dairy, but all kinds of accoutrements, snacks, seasonings, even books about cheese. They have samples, sandwiches, and even glasses of wine available. It is a shopping experience. I was there on a random weekday, and the shop was busy. Though they were fully staffed and able to quickly attend to everyone there. Unfortunately, this was my first stop while I was out exploring the town, and I didn't want to go back to my hotel yet and didn't purchase anything. By the time I came back around, they had just closed. I will know better next time.

It was Thursday evening and they had a ribs/pulled pork special. We waited about 10 minutes at the bar for a table. The bar and atmosphere is great. Pretty bar lights and an old wood bar. We were seated by the window with a great view of the capital. My daughter and I shared the rib dinner and had plenty of food for us. Our waitress was new and learning but was doing a good job. I'd definitely come back.

On a recent stop through Madison, I asked a friend what "must try" items I needed to check out, and he recommended the cheese curds at The Old Fashioned. Needless to say, I found my way here. Came on a Monday evening in the summer time, and while it looked like most things in downtown were rather dead, this place was bumping. I'm glad I came in when I did, because a mob of people came as soon as I placed my to go order. The hostess that took our order was super friendly and even recommended a few sauces to try with the cheese curds (paprika and ranch). We placed our order, and within 10 minutes, we had our cheese curds. Walked across the street to the Capitol and sat at one of the benches, prepared to try the cheese curds. The cheese curds were......ok. I have not had a ton of cheese curds, but from what I was told to expect, they should be crisp on the outside and nice and cheesy on the inside. These cheese curds were cheesy no doubt, but were not crisp at all. It's as though they had been sitting out for a while (maybe that's why we got our order so quickly?). The sauces were good, but did not elevate the cheese curds to the level of "must try." OVERALL - perhaps it was just an off night, but it wasn't enough to bring me back. perhaps dining in is the way to go. CELEBRITY RATING - Ashton Kutcher

We went there to celebrate the 50th birthday of a friend from New York who was in town for the art fair. Abby was attentive, with good recommendations. She's such a sweetheart. As a solo female diner, it's always intimidating to eat alone. When I arrived, I asked to sit at the bar, but saw free spots at the tables along the window. It was a beautiful night and I figured I was alone and could watch the sunset. I asked the bartender if I could sit there and she said yes, but I would have to order with a waiter. We'll I waited for a good 20 minutes without anyone checking on me before moving to the bar. The bar was really no better. Service was abysmal and the bartenders were not so friendly. The bar was also not well kept with glassware and napkins still in my space from the previous patron. I had to ask for water, napkin and utensils after my food came. I also had to ask for another drink, while the 2 girls next to me were attended to constantly. I ended up ordering the shrimp risotto and while tasty, it was too salty after a few bites. I'm giving 2 stars because they have a decent wine selection.
