Straight up best barbecue in Los Angeles! I've eaten North Carolina, Texas, Alabama, all over the South. Not just commercial spots but deep down in every hood, and this blows them all away. The meat quality is superb. The brisket has a skin of flavor like I've never seen. Wow! Phenomenal. The chicken is shred apart in your mouth. The tri tip is so moist, cooked perfectly. Even the sides slapped. The coleslaw with thick chunks and an amazing sauce. The Macc and cheese is cheesy, but you could still taste a little pasta, which I prefer. Also, the nice lady who helped us at the register was also super warm and took great care of us. Even without asking she packed us the awesome sauces and made sure she gave us our dinner hot. My first reviewed experience of 2025 was a disappointing bust! We really wanted to like this BBQ spot; we're always on the lookout for good BBQ. But this ain't it I'm sorry to say. Take-out only, and after getting everything home and spending about $84.00 for 3 meals, I was salivating in anticipation.The cornbread muffin was my first sampling. A bit on the sweeter side but moist and delicious. Potato salad? A no, a big no, way too bland. Then I tried the Mac & cheese, something most BBQ spots never seem to get quite right. That was the verdict for this very dry side here as well. So what about the Tri-tip? They were completely out of their Brisket by the way, other than their burnt ends. And that wasn't much to speak of. Nor was the Tri-tip minus the sauce which is given on the side. The sauce was up to par. The only protein that was pretty decent was the chicken, even the breast was moist and tender. But the cornbread, sauce and chicken weren't enough to save this sinking ship. The wife and I also shared a side of their way too watered down, and poorly seasoned yams. Rather mushy with we guessed way too much maple syrup, nutmeg, cinnamon, sugar, and who knows what else. Once great.....now, BEWARE! This was a wonderful "go to place" when I reviewed it June 2023; I put in top 3 places in the city! Now, one of the worst BBQ I've had in years. I've been back a few times and it was very good, albeit not great. Went back the end of May 2026 having not been there for close to a year, and whoa! I was in the mood for ribs and ordered a half rack. Ribs were so well done, so black and hard with almost a plywood crust that they were inedible! And, we waited a long time for the order so I thought I was going to get some great BBQ. Unfortunately I think that I got very old ribs that were reheated, if not microwaved, and doused with sauce. (Sauce was excellent). Remember, this is take out only so I didn't know how bad the ribs were until I got home. Tried a couple to see if I could find one I could eat; no luck; extremely over done and almost unchewable; all went into the trash. The $19 brisket sandwich was a mini bun with two, maybe three very small pieces of tasteless unseasoned dry brisket; they didn't even put sufficient sauce to at least try to hide how dry it was. No flavor in the sandwich at all; it was less than appetizer size and was about $20!! The cole slaw was mediocre, at best; when asked about the spice of the link I was told "it's only a little spicey." When I tried it at home is was scalding spicey hot and also not as described. My once 5 star review is now 1 star. I might go again in a few weeks and see if perhaps I was there on an off day. If so, I'll revise this review. However, proceed with caution! read more

The staff is friendly and will help you out, especially if it's your first time here. As a born and raised Memphian, I fully approve. I think the real barometer of a BBQ restaurant (at least in Memphis), is their ribs, and Memphis Grill's dry rub ribs did not disappoint. I was really impressed with the sauce too, they gave me mild and spicy, both were awesome. I really doubt there is any BBQ in LA that rivals this, maybe all of CA. The service was good. We were disappointed that it was takeout only, but we really wanted to try it so we ate at the bus stop We ordered brisket, tri tip, hot link and ribs. For sides we ordered potato salad, yams and cornbread. The brisket was not as tender for my liking but what disappointed was the lack of flavor. It was very bland. The tri tip was cooked medium well and again, bland with no flavor. The hot link was good. The ribs were decent. The cornbread was dry. So this is a review of my overall experience which to me plays a role in the food. New year's eve a well after lunch time like 2pm went to order food in person. No one ahead of me that could see and it was a slight wait to place my order. I ordered Pork ribs, Brisket (fresh out the smoker I was told), and a hor link. Side I ordered Cornbread, Mac n cheese and garlic mash. I was told 10 to 15 min, please step aside and we will call you. So 20min in and still no food and this is not a dine in place. I rush to my car to take a quick bit before heading back to the hotel. First bit brisker, and it was bland and chewy. Not a good sigh. Went to the room and the ribs and garlic mash followed suit with the bland taste. was a true winner. The cornbread tasted ok but better with the link and a drink. Would I go back? I rudely called 5 minutes before they closed and they were so kind to tell me what they had left for the day and would be so happy to pack up for me. - The wrapping alone was incredible - no leaks or messy meals. - The brisket sandwich, on a glossy burger (brioche?) bun and with tons of bbq on the side, was sooooo good. It's a real BBQ. I ordered the 2 types of meat and 2 sides combo which was 21 dollars all in. I had the pulled pork and the chicken. They were already out of the brisket when I got there at 1:15 pm. For my sides, collard greens and mac and cheese. I ordered everything with BBQ sauce on the side since I wanted to taste the meat. It took a while for the food to come out even though I was really the only customer. Portion sizes were on the small side. BBQ was fine. Good, but not incredible. My son and I shared the 3 meat plate. We picked up the Smoked Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Hot Link, along with BBQ Beans and Greens. The Brisket and Pulled Pork both passed the "Is it good without sauce?" test. But this place is called "The Memphis Grill," not, "The Central Texas Offset Smoker." So, naturally, I drenched everything in the sauce that came on the side. Not gonna lie, the BBQ Sauce is maybe my favorite thing there. So freaking delicious. The meat, alone, had a decent smoke flavor, and was plenty tender. There is better sauceless brisket and pulled pork in town, for sure. But if you're eating it sauced, you won't be able to out the fork down. The Hot Link blew my mind. It's a fine ground hot link. I think it's all pork, but I'm not positive. The spice is just right. And the char was perfection. It reminded me of the hot links I used to get in Oklahoma...but this was better. Sauced or sauceless, the link is great. My son ate all the cornbread, so I can't speak to it. But it was gone before he even touched the pulled pork. So, there's that. The beans and greens both could have used some sort of acid toward the end of the cook to brighten them up. Maybe some vinegar, or lime? Not sure. I added what sauce was left to the beans. Great decision. Tried adding some Apple Coder Vinegar to the greens. Felt like the wrong thing to add. Maybe lemon? I'm not sure. Anyway, we'll be going back. I've got to try the ribs. I had a very pleasant experience at this place. I ordered a full rack of baby backs with two sides (max and cheese and garlic mashed). Let's break the entire thing down 1. Ordering I'm a spoiled douche when it comes to ordering food. I like to order online and just pick it up having already paid for it. I don't usually like calling places because they are always in a hurry and you can't hear s**t sue to clanking and shenanigans in the background. So when i found out they don't take online orders I almost went somewhere else. But i put my big boy pants on, took a breath and called. The woman on the phone was very polite, well spoken, clear, knowledgeable. Usually places are rude and super fast on phone orders. She was not. Slight draw back is they do not accept credit cards but cash, cash app and Apple Pay are accepted. 2. Location It's on lankersham by mofongos. Not the easiest place to park but there isn't a big problem that way either. They do not have in door dining yet so they are strictly to go. You walk up to the door and she greets you, you pay and grab your food and go. There's just here and a tall guy that was just as nice as she was. 3. Food perpetration. To-go food can sometimes be thrown in a bag and when you open it things just kinda run together. This was not the case here. I wish i didn't order out so much but I do. And in my experience this was my favorite restaurant in regards to wrapping the food. The ribs were wrapped in foil AND finished with Plastic/saran Wrap. The sides were also wrapped in Saran wrap as well. Including the mashed with a small container of Au jus. Bbq can be messy and the way the wrapped it not one thing spilled and it was dry when opened. Food. -ribs. I got baby backs. Opened them and grabbed a rib. Fell right off the bone and was steaming hot. Grabbed a couple took a fork and made a pulled pork style ribs. They were delicious. I ordered spicy but they weren't spicy i don't think. I mean maybe to some people but i can drink hot sauce so my opinion on that isn't the one to ask. But the flavor and how they were sone was great. Pretty sure they are smoked. But not an over powering smoked flavor that makes everything taste like smoked charcoal. But a perfect amount. - garlic mashed. Solid side. Not going to win any "best in blah blah" trophies but i was very happy with them. The au jus was my favorite part. Man that was good. I like the mixture and would for sure order it again. - mac and cheese Some max and cheese taste like they added Velveeta cheese and sadness. Other places it's just not good. Or too cheesy. I know that's crazy talk right? Well it happens. Anyway ... this was perfect. Spiraled noodles with a lot of cheese but not enough to be over kill. Very very solid side dish. Overall experience I'd say i liked it a lot. I would go back once a week and be happy. If you like real good bbq from a place that seems to know what the customers like please try this place.
