I'm giving them four stars because they only accept cash and don't take phone orders. During the holidays, you have to wait outside in a very long line, and I'm not a fan of that process. Ok.... I found this by accident and what a great place! The woman behind the counter was super sweet and mad recommendations that were great. The price is so reasonable. The woman in front of me said she drives 2 hours one way to go here and she was so excited that it was my first time she wanted to give me a rib to try in front of her! Talk about kind!!! I'm glad to have this local bbq restaurant so close to home. Stopped by for a rib tip and beef link combo today and it's just what I needed. Sometimes I forget how good and flavorful the meat actually is. Had to start getting my bbq sauce on the side to fully appreciate it. Service is good and to the point (just how I like it). As someone who grew up in Los Angeles, this review honestly pains me to write... Woody's used to be a birthday tradition for me growing up. If you know, YOU KNOW. Back in the day, you had to get there early because the place STAYED PACKED, and their ribs were THEE reason to go. They were hands down some of the best ribs I ever had as a kid. They put me on. Fast forward 15-20 years later, and today was my first time coming back since my teenage years. I tried calling ahead to place an order, but couldn't get through. Honestly, that didn't surprise me because Woody's was always busy. I figured it was still the same old Woody's. Then I pulled into the parking lot around 6 PM on a Thursday. Immediately, there was parking available. That alone felt odd. No line. Plenty of parking. Not a single customer inside. That should have been my first sign. We ordered beef ribs, sliced brisket, mac and cheese, and dessert. They were out of the banana pudding, so we settled for peach cobbler. The total was around $50, which isn't bad for dinner for two. The excitement really started to hit when we got home and opened everything up. Unfortunately, that's when reality set in. The mac and cheese was terrible. Completely flavorless, watery, and mushy. The pasta was so overcooked it practically fell apart and blended together like baby food. It tasted old and had absolutely no seasoning or richness whatsoever. First and last time ordering that. Next was the brisket. The slices were gray, dry, and looked like they'd been sitting around for a while. I took one bite and immediately said, "Absolutely not." Another disappointment. But I wasn't too worried yet because I came for one thing: THE RIBS. The flavor was actually still there. The sauce and seasoning reminded me of the Woody's I remembered. BUT THE TEXTURE... A completely different story. The ribs weren't tender, weren't juicy, and definitely weren't falling off the bone. They were tough enough that I found myself working for every bite. At that point, the empty parking lot, empty dining room, and lack of lines made a lot more sense. By the end of the meal, I ended up rinsing the remaining ribs off so my dog could enjoy them as a chew toy. What hurts most isn't the bad meal--it's seeing what was once a legendary BBQ spot become a shadow of what it used to be. I almost wish I hadn't come back because it tarnished some really great childhood memories for me. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I also believe in being honest. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but based on this experience, Woody's is not the Woody's I remember, and unfortunately, I won't be returning. If it's any consolation, the cobbler was okay. Haven't been here in awhile. Last time was to patronize Big Dee at Off Da Hook seafood. His restaurant shared parking lots with Woody's who has been in business since forever. They open up at 11am and I was there on a Saturday a little before 11am. There was a line forming already and lucky for me I was second in line. This is a strictly a pickup location and not a spot to dine. It is also cash only and I had to run to the ATM but they did place my order. By the looks inside it appears as it hasn't been updated since the 80s. The music blaring from the speakers was 80s too and I loved the 80s. The price was economical and not expensive. I purchased the sliced beef (one half pound) à la carte. It came with the sliced beef, potato salad, and two slices of wheat bread. They give you a choice of wheat or white bread. It was under $15 and enough for one. All in all a great experience. A special shout out out to the brother wearing the bracelets with the big beads. The rib tips were very tasty and you get a whole pound for $15. I also like the fact that they have a half and half (spicy and mild) sauce option and it's not overly sweet. The hot links however didn't have that smoked BBQ taste although you can smell the smokers outside. I got a sandwich but it was deconstructed and you basically got 2 slices of white bread and sliced hot links and you assemble the "sandwich" yourself. Also the potato salad tastes store bought. They have a side of red beans and rice with a cornbread muffin for $5, which was a steal, but the red beans and rice were soupy and the cornbread was burnt. Overall $40 for 2 sliced hot links, slices of white bread, 2 sides of red beans and rice with cornbread muffins, and a pound of rib tips is a good deal. read more

Service was decent and I was very happy to support a small business. I wish that the meal tasted better, I have never had sour bbq sauce in my life. I came here for BBQ and it was ugh ok. I got a beef rib plate and a 3 meat combo with ribs, beef links and slice beef! I will start with the 3 meat! The slice beef and beef links were good but the ribs i couldn't eat it. The ribs had a mushy texture were you just have to spit it out. Not good at all. The beef plate was actually good. You get 3 nice size bones. The sides for the plates are very small and only 4 to pick from. They have no mac and cheese like most BBQ spots i been to so i got potato salad and BBQ beans which were ok. I asked for spicy BBQ sauce for the beef ribs plate and it wasn't even that. It had a tiny kick to out but not truly spicy. Inglewood don't have any good spots. Been to kenny Q and now woodys and i wouldn't go back to either one of them. I have been going to Woodys for over 20 years now on and off . NO MORE Honestly since the owner has passed on this location has gone to crap worse and worse every year no lack of effort or care . Whoever smoked that meat has no clue what they are doing they need to go back to cooking carne asada at the local corner street taco stand it's very sad . The only thing that enjoyed those ribs was my dog after I had to rinse off all that excess salt off it so he wouldn't die from sodium overdose . The sliced beef was just as bad or worst it had a rotting flesh smell and looked grey yes GREY after one bite straight to the trash I wasn't going to get anyone or myself sick or visit the ER or urgent care that day no sir, mama didn't raise no fools . The sides of the Mac n cheese was a pile of nasty mush with no flavor whatsoever smelled and tasted very off that Mac n cheese had to be at least over 5-6 days old very stale nasty mess .
