    Artichoke Dip
    Kerry N.

I've been eating here for years and it is always a pleasant experience. Sometimes you have to sit close to other people when it's a busy day, but yesterday was not the case. We had plenty of room and enjoyed the amazing spinach artichoke dip and salmon tacos. The burgers are also good and so is the chicken salad. I have yet to have anything on the menu that I did not like (over two decades of dining). I used to eat the chicken wraps before I became gluten-free and those were my favorite. The service is always awesome and they are quick to get your food out if you are on a lunch break. Neimans is the best for a reason!

Popped into The Mermaid Bar after shopping--it's cozy but polished, with whimsical art and a nostalgic vibe. I loved how Jonnie behind the bar already knew my name and drink when I walked in, which made it feel welcoming

Ambiance is great for having a small group gathering. Service is great, the bartender is very friendly and is always curious about what everyone is doing. The food was pretty good although overpriced.

The Mermaid bar is one of my favorite restaurants located in Neiman Marcus. Our server was Briana and and she was the greatest. They just rolled out a new menu, so she gave us some suggestions to try. The restaurant wasn't busy, so we were sat quickly. The restaurant is located on the 1st floor adjacent to the Mens designer RTW department.it's a open concept with plenty of seating. It's a casual restaurant, but has an elevated feel. I had the duke of Windsor sandwich. I was a little disappointed as the description said shave turkey and I though it was going to be real roasted turkey but it was actually processed lunch meat. Disappointed but the fries were good . Okay food! Great service !! Amazing atmosphere!! I suggest trying the NM burger I've had it before and it's great.

My favorite place to eat once I hit North Park Mall. I love the convenience of the located of the cafe, right inside my favorite store Neiman Marcus. My favorite soup is the turkey chili soup which comes with a jalapeño cornbread. Yummy! Talking about filled with flavor with melted cheese on top. Dipping a piece of jalapeño cornbread into the soup to fulfill your stomach. The salmon dish is always my favorite, which they change you from time to time on the way they prepare it. The salmon is cook to perfection laid on top a bed of veggie. I'm getting healthy & delicious, the best of both worlds. To top it off they have illy coffee, which is one of my all time favorite coffee. Don't forget to ask about their yogurt... My favorite flavor is the mango & cream swirl. But of course they only carry 2 flavors at a time... It's a must try cafe if you every hit that area!

BLT- subbed wheat for white toast. Very good and filling.

After visiting the Mermaid Bar MANY times after long days of shopping, my family and I were disappointed by their service the other day. I ordered the Turkey Chili, and was somewhat satisfied (not great, not bad, just okay). My grandma and grandpa ordered their special: French toast, eggs, bacon, and fruit. Both of their meals were cold!! The waitress politely offered to take it back and provide them with another plate, which she did. However, this plate was COLD too. My family didn't complain after this time as they simply were starving and wanted some type of food!! But you'd think that after returning one plate, the other would come out at least lukewarm? Nope. Also, my grandmother had a $150 NM gift card as a result from her points, which she opted to use to pay for the meal which totaled $93. After giving the waitress her card, she returned saying that there was still $37.22 remaining that we had to pay; she also offered to "recycle" the gift card. Hm, $150-93 = $57 should have been remaining. We paid this $37.22 with a credit card, then we checked the balance online of the gift card. Surely there was $57 remaining! We went to customer service and a very sweet lady helped us and resolved the issue- not sure how this all got mixed up, but it seemed a bit suspicious with the server offering to "recycle" our gift card. Maybe we were just paranoid, but normally we have never had an experience like this!

    Mermaid sampler: Chicken Salad Sandwich
    Vanessa L.

I came in for a late lunch. The staff was still very attentive and helpful, even though a lot of them looked like they were ready to go home. I got the Mermaid Sampler with soup and a chicken salad sandwich. The chicken salad sandwich was good but not spectacular. I've had better and I felt like it was a bit dry and bland. It did taste better when I tried adding the corn relish or poppy seed dressing. I'm not a huge fan of bacon. I don't hate it but I also don't LOVE it like everyone else. I like my bacon crispy and not soggy and limp. The bacon that was in the sandwich and garnished in the soup was crispy - how I like it. I would go back if I'm in the area and I'm not sure where else to go. But definitely not a place I'd go out of my to visit. I'd give it 3 stars for food but an extra star for the service.

To me, this is old school, ladies-who-shop-and-lunch Dallas, and I loved experiencing it. Been enjoying the famous NM chicken salad for years in other cities, now was my chance to come to get it in the Homeland! If you have never tried the NM chicken salad, please excuse yourself & immediately get on it. I know, you're thinking: "Whatever, how good could it be? Chicken-boring-salad. Besides, I don't really even like mayo." I get where you're coming from. I'm here to tell you don't knock it till you try it. Dined solo so sat at counter, which felt like a 60s-style coffee shop bar. Waitress was awesome, prob worked there since opening day which I loved. Sammy was huge, so only ate half. Waitress was so intuitive, had the take-home bag in hand before I even asked. So retro, borderline kitch-stereotypical, so wonderful.

We came in near closing time, but Emilia provided us great service and stayed attentive even though they were clearly packed. We were seated at a table near the door, and unfortunately it had a vomit smell. Whatever it was, my friend could not stand it and had to get up and step away from the table. We first thought the culprit was the paper drink coasters, but then the staff removed the door mat near us later on, so maybe someone puked on it and the smell lingered, even after it was cleaned up. Clear Mizu ($16): This has Sakura vermouth and bitters, so we ordered it. It tasted like straight up gin and was not good. It was actually one of the rare times my husband could not finish his drink. Kyoto Sunset ($15): This one wasn't bad and tasted like honeydew. The ingredients include honeydew Calpico, so that makes sense. Johnny Walker Black ($16): This was our friend's drink, which I think was just coke and Johnny Walker. Nothing special about the taste either. Given the smell and so-so/terrible cocktails, we will not be coming back or taking our friends here.

Overall: 4.7/5 [dine in]…read more Service was amazing! Our waitress Emilia was super attentive throughout the whole night. The drinks have unique flavor combinations that actually deliver and the happy hour is phenomenal. We're talking 50% off select appetizers and entrees, $12 Over the Counter cocktails, $10 classics, and BOGO ponies and shots. They also have daily specials Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday. The space has serious speakeasy vibes so give your eyes a few seconds to adjust when you walk in from the bright light outside. Icelandic Hot Dog ($3.50 HH): Tiny single bite TX wagyu dog that was cute but hard to share. Tasted pretty similar to a regular hot dog. Tostada ($4 HH): Kanpachi on a blue corn tortilla. I'd recommend getting 2 since it gets messy the moment you take a bite and I didn't really get a proper taste of it because of that. Caviar Chip ($6.50 HH): A generous dollop of caviar on a kettle cooked potato chip with creme fraiche underneath. A yummy combo but honestly something you could recreate at home. East Coast Oyster ($2.75 HH): My husband got a single oyster to try and thought it was pretty good. London Fog ($12 HH): Milk washed London dry gin, earl grey, aveze, dry curacao, and vanilla orange honey. I loved this cocktail. I don't usually like gin and find earl grey too strong on its own but this combination was perfection. It was also served in the cutest tea cup with a yummy cookie on the side. Morocco ($12 HH): Moroccan mint tea, terralta reposado, rye, fernet branca menta, and agave. Not my favorite compared to the London Fog but my husband absolutely loved it and said it was one of the best cocktails he has ever had. He even said it would have been his signature cocktail at our wedding. I was shocked but to each their own. Confit'd and Fried Chicken Wings ($7.50 HH): The most disappointing item of the night. Came with 6 wings tossed in a Korean wing sauce that tasted very close to buffalo. The wings themselves were average. Skip these. Beef Cheek Tacos ($12 HH): Came with 3 tacos that were some of the best we've had in a while. Delicious, flavorful, no notes. Highly recommend. Soft Serve Marg ($12 HH): Like a boozy dole whip that doubled as dessert. Not too heavy but not super strong either. A fun way to end the meal. Pekin Tom ($20): Duck fat washed wild turkey 101, lapsang peach liqueur, absinthe, and pecan smoke. Not part of the happy hour menu. They smoke it right in front of you which is a cool presentation but the taste was pretty average. APO Burger ($10 HH) + Truffle Fries Sub ($7): The truffle fries felt a bit steep but they ended up being worth it. Super crispy, delicious, and addictive. The burger was cut in half which made it easy to share and it came with a TX wagyu patty, bruleed fontina, Spanish tomato spread, garlic whip, and chive. Burst of flavors, melt in your mouth wagyu, absolutely chef's kiss. We will 100% be coming back. It's a perfect spot for an intimate date night.

Full review: I made a reservation for Ginger's at 9.30pm on a Saturday night. We arrived around 9.20pm and there was no line yet. We were able to go right in but had to wait until our reservation time for the table. We got a drink from the bar, where the other patrons were friendly and the bartenders were fast and very attentive despite it already being fairly busy. Our table was ready right at 9.30, and it was great. Two large comfy chairs with a small cocktail table in between. Cozy enough for conversation despite the place being fairly busy. It was much busier by the time we left (there was a line outside at that point), but our cozy spot was great regardless of how crowded the place got. As far as the aesthetics go, the bar is beautiful and the discreet entrance gives it the speakeasy feel. The music was great, and a handful of patrons danced in the space (which just added to the lively ambience). The drinks are top notch. I only had two. The Ginger's Old Fashioned is a solid old fashioned but nothing to rave about. However, the Diamond in the Rough is amazing and unlike any other bourbon cocktail I've had. I'd go back for that alone (and would definitely the Barrel-Aged Black Manhattan the next time). The only real downside to the bar is the restrooms. There was a slight wait for the men's (no big deal), but the wait for the women's was pretty crazy with a line outside. We let women start alternating to use the men's because we felt a little bad for them.
