Not only this but they pull the plug on the power once everyday and cause my computer to corrupt, they also don't listen to noise complaints from neighbors that literally makes my room literally vibrate from the sheer amount of volume blasting next door and they crush your packages in the package room. Not only that but there are severe roach and bug problems DO NOT consider staying here as a resident it is hell. As somebody who is already signed on the lease I really hope they go out of business. They DO NOT care about you. Their staff are made up of incompetent, dumbass college students who go out and party/drink instead of treating their residents with respect and courtesy. I'd rather have my nuts attached to a jumper cable and shocked for 8hrs a day than watch any poor soul fall into their trap and become a resident here.

We have told them about all the wear and tear that was there BEFORE we got there. There are too many reasons why no one should live here, but the main one is that whoever took over management is stealing from students and is gaslighting them into thinking that the amenities they failed to provide were somehow our fault. Like, seriously, their trash situation is ILLEGAL. They found a loophole to not get caught.

We had a tour scheduled and confirmed via both phone and email for Saturday, April 5th. We made a 7-hour drive north specifically for this appointment, only to arrive and find the leasing office empty. After such a long drive, we were understandably frustrated and exhausted. Unsure if the office was closed or if staff were simply unavailable, we waited for over an hour and a half while trying to find a way to contact someone--especially given the time, tolls, and high gas costs involved in making this trip. Eventually, we were able to reach Destiny. She sincerely apologized for the mix-up and, despite the situation, immediately took ownership and assured us she would do everything possible to make it right. True to her word, she quickly coordinated with Mark. Mark stepped in without hesitation. Even though he was off that day, he arrived within minutes and greeted us with a positive, friendly, and professional attitude. He was incredibly understanding of our situation and took his time giving us a full tour of the building, amenities, and apartment. He answered all of our questions thoroughly and never made us feel rushed. What truly stood out was not just that Mark showed up--but how he showed up. Despite the inconvenience, he maintained a warm and welcoming demeanor the entire time. He even went out of his way to greet and assist other prospective tenants who arrived during our visit, offering tours with the same level of enthusiasm and professionalism. Mark and Destiny turned what could have been a very disappointing and costly day--14 hours of driving, early morning travel, and significant expenses--into a successful and positive experience. Their commitment to making things right speaks volumes about their character and dedication. If this is how issues are handled at this community, it gives me great confidence moving forward. I would be happy to rent here for my two daughters knowing that this level of care and accountability exists. I cannot say enough about how wonderful and amazing Destiny and Mark were. They both deserve significant recognition for their efforts and for setting such a high standard of customer service. I am still waiting to hear back from management, but I sincerely hope their actions do not go unnoticed.

It is september 23rd 2026, and since august 25th, I've had: 2 ER visits, 3 doctors appointments, and 1 full day spent admitted to the hospital. Negative for every disease, illness, infection in the entire world. Why was I so ill? Because of the severe black mold infesting the central HVAC system, and that is probably covering every square inch of the insides of all the drywall in this building. I have had a fever, cough, headache, stuffy nose, hearing loss, bloody noses, chest pain, and shortness of breath - nonstop EVERYDAY after 3 days of moving in / living here. After reading the reviews for this hell hole on here (google), on yelp, and diving into r/fsu rabbit holes, its safe to say that The Standard Tallahassee and its management are fully aware of these extremely unsafe and dangerous living conditions, and have been for the past 2-3 years. They have been "yes-ing" tenants reviews since 2023 that report MONTHS of mold sickness and mold damage, ranging from "molded roof collapsing and falling down" to "shoe covered in mold after a short 3day trip." These living conditions are clearly in violation of Florida Statue §83.51. This obligation is known as the implied warranty of habitability, which The Standard clearly does not abide by, and hasn't for years. Will be terminating my lease promptly. If you are a parent or student thinking the lower price for all that you get here is too good to be true, it is. Save your money and stay the EFFF away from this place. I wont even start on the filthy hallways, parking garage, and stairwells that are: littered with mold, trash, alcohol, spoiled food, and human regurgitate and urine to top it alll off! Or about how all of the "locked" doors, dont have locks on them at all, so anybody can walk into our building and come kick down your door if they really wanted to. Which HAS happened MULTIPLE times before - per reviews right under mine! Shout out Ray the handyman tho, hes the goat. Destiny and Jason at the desk/office are awesome people and do NOT deserve the stain that this place's management is putting on its employees... and my lungs. Id rather be homeless.

There is one elevator in the entire building and it is ALWAYS broken. It shakes and it always smells like fish. One time after Halloween there was throw up in the corner for a whole weekend. In one of the staircases by my apartment, there is throw up on the top stair and it has been there for 2 weeks now uncleaned, and will probably still be there for another month. Moving on, the office people SUCK and do not do their job that they are literally getting paid to do. They have attitude when you ask questions and are lazy to put in your packages, so most of the time you won't get them until 3 days after it gets delivered. And if you go to the office to pick them up the office people are rude and don't help you WHATSOEVER. The gates to the parking lot suck and are always breaking. One time I couldn't leave the parking lot because neither one of the gates would open and it took them a couple hours to fix them so you couldn't go anywhere until they got them open. What really SUCKS about this place are the TV's. They're a weird brand I've never even heard of and they DON'T work. We requested a new TV for our apartment in AUGUST and it is MAY now and we still haven't gotten one. We bought a Roku for our TV, however it lags and the sound is never synced up to the picture so we constantly have to go out of the movie we're watching to re-sync the sound and picture. The only good thing about this place are the maintenance men. They are very fast and do a great job and are some of the nicest people ever. Our apartment always needs maintenance, so the maintenance men know us by now and say hi to us if they see us. Overall, do NOT live here. The amenities are incredibly mid for how much you pay to live here and most of the time something is always broken and an inconvenience. For 2 months only one of the treadmills in the gym worked out of 5. Save your money and live somewhere else.

Only one treadmill worked the time I was there. Half of the year the gate was either broken or just open for anybody. - When I moved out they tried to pin the damage to the living area on me which I clearly marked in the form checking in. After disputing that and paying whatever was left, I get a text 2 months later accusing me I never paid it and I was going to be sent to collections unless I did. Again I had to dispute it. Like I said before, the staff here was usually very nice and helpful but it doesn't make up for the conditions and the administrative problems I experienced. You can find a much better place for cheaper I promise you. I don't know how but this place continues to be a headache for me even after I moved out over 2 months ago.

The rent was mid-range, more expensive than renting from an owner, but cheaper than most of the complexes in the area. They tried to raise the rent about $100.00 every lease. On our second year, it got too expensive and we moved somewhere better for cheaper (Myers Park duplexes on Jennings St.). This was back when there was management on site in the office and the manager had a big drug problem, so he would try to get the rent from us in cash. I did not trust him. Whatever you do, only pay with a check and keep a carbon copy or make a Xerox copy for yourself. Because they tried to say that we did not pay the pet deposit of $400.00 one time, and I had to bring the carbon copy of the check to them to prove I paid for it. This also happened a couple times with the rent, where they said that we did not pay it and wanted to charge us late fees. So, I brought my copy of the check to the office and they looked really stupid. So beware of this, I hope it is not a scam that they run. Some of the neighbors said that they had rats, but we only had three large roaches come inside within two years, which was not bad. I did like that the units were mostly tiled, and the large walk in closet in the bedroom with the washer dryer hook-up in it. I did not like living here during football season, where all of the FSU football game patrons would park all over the lawn and in your space, then proceed to spray-paint and trash the place. This is going to happen regardless, no matter what management there is on it. Just FYI, our electric/water bill was $283.00 a month here for a one bedroom!
