Indoor dining space is quite large. Nice bar.

Nice atmosphere and location. Always good service. Rotating food and drink specials. Would like to see the permanent menu adapt some though. The patio is hoppin in the Summer. Nice to see they do holiday Brunch specials too. .

This is the rotten broccoli that they served last night.

We had a horrible experience on 5-20-26. Upon arriving the host, which ended up being the General Manager, was involved in a lengthy conversation with two patron about shoes. They took turns walking behind the hostess stand to look at each other's shoes. After a few minutes I went to the side of the conversation and asked if we can get a table for two. The GM replied "we are cleaning tables" and went back to her conversation. Mind you there were numerous open tables in plain view. So we patiently waited and after a couple more minutes we were seated. After a few minutes a server came over and asked if we wanted to start with a beverage other than the water she brought over. We asked for a tap list, she looked puzzled and then realized there wasn't a list at our table. She got us a list and then went to other tables. I think she was overloaded with tables. She came back and took our drink order and we ordered the fried Brussels sprouts appetizer. The drinks came after a little bit of a wait. We ordered entrees. Fish and chips and fried clams. I requested broccoli instead of fries. Several minutes passed then our entrees came out. Neither had Cole slaw and mine had no broccoli or extra tartar sauce. I asked the food runner about the appetizer, he said "the kitchen is a mess right now" and walked away. The server came by, I asked about the appetizer, she was surprised it didn't come out, she asked if we still wanted it. We replied no thanks, just take it off the bill. We asked about the Cole slaw, she said they were out. I asked about the extra tartar sauce, she said she would get it. I asked again for my broccoli. The food runner came back with my side of broccoli, it was the most rotten broccoli I have ever seen. I could not believe the kitchen let that go to a table. At this point I took the broccoli and went the server area where I showed it to our server. The GM happened to walk up and ask what was going on. I showed her the broccoli and asked if she would eat that. She said no! I asked how it made it out of her kitchen. She said she didn't know. She asked me to go into a side room to talk. I explained the experience we had thus far including her being short with us at the hostess stand. The GM asked what she could do. I said how can you expect me to pay for a horrible dining experience. She didn't say anything, just stood there. Not even an apology. I went back to my table and waited a few more minutes. The server came over and placed a $100 gift card on the table and apologized for everything that went wrong. The lousy meals and two beers were comped. I gave her a tip and she asked if I was sure that I wanted her top have it. I explained that she shouldn't suffer financially for poor management and a bad kitchen staff. This was one of the worst set of circumstances I ever experienced in a restaurant. I have been here a few time in past years and it had been great. Management must have changed. IF I go back, it will be for a couple cocktails by the river and not for the low quality, warmed up, frozen food service, rotten food. I recommend not visiting the Boat House until they can get things straightened out.

Looked for a dog friendly restaurant in the Western MA area and this fit the bill perfectly from the BringFido app. Loved strolling around the docks while we waited for our table to get ready. All of the staff here were so friendly and accommodating for us to find a spot farther away from the woodchips where our puppy with a vacuum mouth tries to eat everything in her sight. They gave her a bowl of water and plenty of compliments about how cute she was. We ordered the Coconut Shrimp appetizer and Lobster Bisque both super tasty. Then for the main course I ate the Cod Florentine, which was very filling and satisfying as well. We had a lovely time dining outside with the view of the boats. All of the employees adhered to the pandemic precautions wearing masks and sanitizing the tables in between patrons. The facility looks nice and new for when we had to go inside to use the bathroom to wash our hands. This is worth stopping by for a bite to eat.

Mussels..,the plate was abundant/we devoured them before the photo was taken,

We walked up to a casual outdoor seating area with picnic tables set alongside the road, giving it the laid back atmosphere of a New England seafood shack where the focus is entirely on generous portions and classic seafood favorites rather than anything overly polished. The setup is simple and relaxed, making it an easy stop for a casual lunch or dinner during the warmer months. The lobster roll is the clear highlight here. The portion was surprisingly large for the price, packed generously and substantial enough to feel like a full meal on its own. The lobster was the star of the sandwich, and the overall value stood out given how expensive lobster rolls have become across Massachusetts. We also ordered the fish and chips, which came with an equally generous portion size, though the fish was a little drier than expected. While it was still satisfying, it lacked some of the moisture and flakiness that would have made it more memorable. What stands out most is the portion to price ratio. Nearly everything coming out of the kitchen is oversized, which helps explain why the restaurant has built such a strong reputation as a destination for seafood in the area. The food leans toward hearty and filling rather than refined, and the experience works best when you arrive hungry and ready for a substantial meal. Service moved efficiently despite the steady crowds, and the casual outdoor setting kept the experience relaxed. For anyone looking for a classic roadside seafood stop in Western Massachusetts, Captain Jack's delivers generous portions, solid seafood, and a lobster roll that easily justifies the visit.

Surprisingly, we wouldn't have actually needed the reservation; the place was pretty quiet for a Saturday night. Though, the college students are all gone for summer so that might play a part in it. Nonetheless. The food was DELICIOUS. The drinks were FABULOUS. We each had a few drinks and everyone seemed to enjoy what they had. I ordered the Don't Text Your Ex and that was so yummy. I loved the dragonfruit dusting on top. Our server, Scotty, kept us fed and hydrated all night. We started with 16 oysters, tried 4 different kinds, of all sizes. I wish I remembered which we did but they were all very good. Next came the calamari with hot honey. That was eaten up pretty quickly as well! Highly recommend. Entree wise, I ordered the Seared Scallops for myself, and the other party goers had the Lobster Roll (which comes hot, not cold), the Seared Tuna, and the Casarecce Vongole. Everyone was part of the clean plate club that night. All the dishes were so good I know I keep repeating myself! The bill can get pretty pricey if you're not paying attention. We will definitely be going back!

He was pretty excited. We went on a Monday and there were only a few other people there. Major first issue, they no longer serve the boiled lobster that is front and center on their menu... only the lobster TALES for $41!! The menus are paper and could easily be marked to show they don't sell it... or at the very least the server could MENTION that it's not available when she brings the menus. I asked twice if the $41 was the price for JUST the lobster and she said that it was, so we ordered additional sides. The menu was unusual... SOME spicy seafood items mixed in with stuff you'd only ever see on a menu in an Asian Restaurant. Fried dumplings, crab rangoon... and the $14 "Cajun Spicy Rice w/Shrimp" was literally a bowl of Asian fried rice with shrimp, not the least bit spicy OR Cajun. The woman that seated and served us was absolutely FLAT in her demeanor. Everyone is human and people have bad days, but she didn't smile a single time. I told her we were celebrating his birthday and she didn't even NOD in acknowledgment, just stood silently waiting for us to order... it was awkward. We felt like we were putting her out, like she had somewhere else to be and couldn't be bothered. They cover the table with a piece of brown paper, but the areas it doesn't reach were sticky like old kitchen grease. They bring the absolutely cheapest plastic utensils, the forks were so flimsy that we had trouble getting the meat out of the shell with them and finally had to ask if they had any metal ones. (They did, which begs the question, why don't they bring them to start?) They don't bring a nut cracker or a pick either, or even a table knife. It was a pretty messy meal. The lobster tails INCLUDED corn on the cob and potatoes, so we ended up with enough food for an entire second meal. In terms of the meal itself, it was pretty good. The Cajun fries were great, the onion rings too. I had some of the best fried whole clams and scallops of my life. The fried dumplings were also spectacular, though they don't offer dumpling sauce, only packets of soy sauce. The Cajun Rice was meh... it was disappointing for $14 and really hard to eat with the tiny plastic fork. The bill came to $104 before tip. Crazy that those prices don't justify real tableware. We'll definitely try it at least once more (maybe as takeout)... hopefully there will be a new server or she'll be in a better mood.
