I spent close to 4 afternoons per week at the Midway over the summer, watching the World Cup with my fellow soccer nuts, so I've gotten quite familiar with the place. Off the bat, I'll say this: great beer selection, although I wish they'd change the taps up a little more; food is great, especially the veggie corn dogs that have been mentioned in several other reviews; service is pretty good, although better at the bar than at tables. One of my favorite things about the Midway is the very serious crowd of regulars that hang out at the bar, play darts and watch games. I've know several of those folks for a couple years, and met lots of their friends while watching soccer. So on any given night, I can walk in and find a handful of people I know. There's no pretense, no in-crowd/out-crowd vibe. It's just a good old bar where you can have a great time and make new friends really easily. Watching sports up there is always fun (watched the GSU-Alabama game there last night, good times.) You'll always have comrades somewhere, no matter what team you're rooting for. They have all the sports package channels, so if you want to watch the Australian Curling Championships, you probably can at the Midway. On top of all those good things, when the weather is nice, they've got a huge patio that gets great afternoon sun. Can't beat that. read more

We came in to play Golden Tee and have a few beers. Everything was ok.

I bet I go again and it gets better when the weather warms up. But to watch an Eagles game and get dinner, I was impressed with good reviews, and underwhelmed by the reality of slow service, overly fried food, and a way too noisy environment to enjoy a game even if the Eagles game was the loudest one on the speaker system (which it wasnt). I read about how good the tots, corn dogs, and chicken sandwiches were. The tots were - soso, the corn dogs had potential, but way too greasy and doughy for my taste, and I will never understand ATL locals idea of good fried chicken because as dry as my yardbird was, I should have called PETA. The beer list however is absolutely kick ass. The bartenders are cool considering the crowd. I will go back in spite of my low rating because I truly believe they are capable of better, or they would have never gotten this much Yelp love. read more

First-timer here on Saturday night. They had an "after-derby" party here for one of the red bull derby racers. The car was on display and he let people hop in to see what it was like to be a driver! Atmosphere- A Food- B- Service- B- I had the turkey burger which was ok. Im just glad I didnt order the veggie burger. Im starting to think that a burger should be a good old beef burger and nothing else. Service was a bit slow and if it weren't for the board games to distract us most of my party might have noticed. They do have a wide selection of games from connect 4 to backgammon to cranium. Great place for a group... and bring your doggies!!! read more

This is my favorite bar on the Flat Shoals strip. For some reason whenever I'm in East Atlanta I always end up here by the end of the night. They have lots of high sided very private booths, with candles, so it ends up being a very intimate setting. If you're claustrophobic they have other seating options including a large patio outside. The food is typical bar fare and unfortunately most of the time by the time I make it there, it seems like the kitchen is closed; so I can't really say much about the food. They do have a kickass beer selection and all the different types of mixed drinks you think to order. Its one of those places that has a beer menu that is actually more than two pages. The staff is generally pretty friendly, but it does get busy at times. The music they play is generally pretty good, and I like that they do play music. Plus there are a lot of strategically placed TVs if you're the type to check the sports scores while chatting with your friends. I have a lot of good memories associated with this place and will continue to return! read more

Small and large tables in and out to suit your group and a nice bar and tv if you need to watch a sport Service: 1 star I dont' think this is an accross the board review but Valerie was b.a.d. bad. We literally were served and brought the check later than every other table not in her section. 30+ minutes for the check, another 20 mins for reciepts and this is after we explained that a friend was called into work and needed to leave quickly. HUGE outdoor patio for beer drinkers. This is my place to go in spring, fall, when the weather is just GORGEOUS and I wanna have a beer outside. This is it. Always a solid list, rotating taps, you'll find some Lips of Faith beers and specialties here. Solid spot. One of my favorites. Chicken and fries is dope too. And the burgers. And the rueben. Been here a bunch. It's solid. Food is just okay. Our favorites, and the most dependable items we've had: -Chorizo Cheese Dip: if you're watching a game. -Veggie Corn Dogs: if you love corn dogs but are avoiding meat. Massive portion- 4 dogs is enough for a meal. -Green Chicken Chili: try a little dipping action with the grilled cheese (they add a tiny bit of balsamic, setting it aside from most pub grilled cheese sandwiches). -Side salad, their house balsamic is the bomb and veggies are pretty fresh. -Garlic green beans: but let's face it, you can make those at home. -Reuben sandwich: melty cheese and meaty wholesomeness. -Cheeseburger: generic; juicy meat and toasted, buttery bun. and finally... The Nashville Hot Chicken! Deeeeelicious. Massive; sweet and crunchy on the front, with a creeping heat on the back. Pickles are perfect. The chicken is incredibly tender. Desserts suck. I love this place, even though the food is average. The giant bar and friendly staff allows me to get some work done, drink some beer, have a few jagers and enjoy myself. Cool clientele, (including me!), good juke box, vent fan to keep the smoke out (although you usually have to ask them to turn it on) and great TV's. Watch out for the Soccer Hooligans! If you like to drink a beer, do the occasional shot and meet some interesting people, this is the place to come in EAV. Best way to describe it is "the earl with a better, larger bar, cleaner, no band :( but better TV's for watching sports and interacting with others. read more

This place has quickly become my go-to bar in EAV. First, food is pretty good. Have had the grill cheese, chicken fingers, burger and a few other things. All are great, fries and tots are great, food is overall good bar food. Second, awesome beer list. Sincerely love it. Some nights I feel like an Old Milwaukee, some nights a Yuengling, some nights a Stone Pale Ale, some nights a Delirium Tremens. They have it all. Third, ambiance. Its pretty good. Cool bar area, good seating, GREAT patio, good game area. Love the games too. A large group of friends and I sat at the big tables right in the middle and before the end of the night there was a game of Uno on one end and a series of Connect Four challenges on the other hand. Great addition to keep people there. Good jukebox too. NYE was a blast here as well. Fourth, preference over other bars in the area. For some reason, this is where my friends and I select over the variety of other bars in the area. All in all, great beer selection, good food, good people, great place. read more

This place still had good service, a great patio, and an impressive beer selection. Now that I've eaten here I need to post an update and say the food is so-so. I want to go back and try more items (especially the burgers which sound great), but I was disappointed in my Reuben. I am used to getting Reubens so soaked in thousand island dressing that the bread is starting to sag and I can't put the sandwich down once I start for fear of needing more napkins. The Midway's Reuben took me several bites to even find the thousand island buried in the middle of the dish. This might be heaven for people who hate a messy sandwich, but it just wasn't what I was expecting and let me down. The tots that came with it were great. All in all, I do love this place to enjoy leisurely beers with a large group of friends on sunny afternoons. read more

7/3/14 - 1AM: First and last time customers! Went for a bite after pub crawling for a friend's birthday. Was going to Flat Iron, but hadn't been here, so wanted to give a "new" spot a try. Short and sweet: 1. Server was slow to greet our table (maybe 3 tables with people in the entire bar), never smiled and was slow to bring everything. 2. Food wasn't anything spectacular, but opinions could've been tainted by the poor service. Won't be back and I doubt the staff cares. Feel bad for the owner. read more

I HATE THIS RESTAURANT... and here's why... I've been a patron for the past 16 years. Today I showed up with my baby to order food, and asked if they had a mask because I left mine in the car. They asked me to pay for one so I decided to leave based on principal. Being a supporter of their business through the pandemic, it got under my skin. Rather than just leaving a bad review, I felt it's important to explain your point of view. After a great experience at Holy Taco, I wanted to go back and share why I left. I was greeted with "so.. you ready to buy a mask now?" I told them no and explained my view. This was retorted with "sooo. let me get this right... you're mad that we're making you wear a mask and you have to pay a dollar to keep our patrons safe? Got it..." I was then asked to leave and never come back. I'm all about safety and masks, but if you agree why are you charging me? You may have only lost $70 today, but I've spend thousands at this restaurant and I'm excited to spend thousands at places that treat me like a responsible adult. HOLY TACO IS GREAT and their food is way better. read more

Midway is well... midway between something potentially good and something obviously bland... You know, it's all about atmospherics, and obviously the owners were not reaching for something profound here. Instead, they were too busy installing a Wall with a thousand light plugs (liquids and electrical items don't mix) that totally hedges in anyone at the bar making access to your seat something like trying to access front row seating at Iggy Pop. Meanwhile the house left area serves as the patron saint of wasted space? In an area that was supposed to support the arts the patio remains a stark sucking vortex of blandness. Just another yawn venue that "chooses" not to support community artisans in any other way than taking their hard earned dollars in exchange for a brew! read more

Love this place in East Atl! They always appear to be short staffed because we usually wait awhile especially if you have a group. Besides the service, there food and drinks are awesome!! I recommend their Grit BBQ app, chicken fingers, and salads. Their chicken fingers are amazing!! Probably some of the best I've ever had. They have a fabulous brunch! Everything is yummy and you can get a pitcher of bloody marys!! :-) The atmosphere is great. They have a huge relexing patio where you can bring your dog if you'd like. You can also play a bunch of different board games which they keep inside. read more

OMG... Their HOMEMADE, IN-SEASON VEGETABLE VEGGIE BURGER makes me want to sing for the rest of my workday... Truly awesome, folks. I almost ordered the grass-fed beef burger but am so glad I decided to try this one. Makes the heavy-handed serving of tator tots feel less guilty. These people are also dedicated to fresh food and the enviroment (they recycle, like, everything, and send you out with concious takeaway boxes). Midway Pub is NOT a typical pub food menu.. The green chicken chili is the best thing on the menu. My husband likes the beer battered fried chicken which, to me, is way too greasy. The brunch is lackluster. As other reviewers have noted, it has turned into a hipster parents hangout and dodging the strollers and screaming children can be kinda jarring for us trying to nurse a hangover from Mary's the night before. The drinks are strong & they have a fair selection. There are board games and a couple of old school arcade games and dart boards which is nice. Bottom line: Good for a late night snack or post-mortem on a Friday after work with some friends. Avoid brunch like the plague (unless you have kids) and know that you have to go outside to smoke. read more

Great bar in East Atlanta Village. The food is very tasty, not your standard greasy bar food, but bar food with thought behind it. The space is big and the drink selection has something to please everyone. The Midway has a very older hipster crowd, but it's EAV so what do you expect? My only complaint is the smoke. It would be great if they would banish smoking to the patio or buy some smoke eaters. read more

Our food came before our drinks even though we saw them sitting on the bar. We were checked on twice and both times plates of food we were eating on we're touched by our servers shirt. Very dog-friendly patio. Huge beer selection. Great spot to watch soccer games. Taco/trivia Tuesday. Early evenings and during the day on weekends, this is a great locals spot. Gets a little packed on the weekends at night for my (admittedly aging and married) self. Menu is full of great standards and rotating specials. We go pretty consistently for tacos on Tuesdays with the dog, and watch the sun go down. This is THE spot for warm weather patio action in the village. read more

I actually enjoyed this place at one point UNTIL the I drove past the restaurant on the anniversary date of the Charlottesville rally. Countless times I've driven past The Midway and never once saw tiki torches being used. But on this particular anniversary day the outdoor patio was ablaze with tiki torches. It was way too much of a coincidence being that 1, it was the Charlottesville rally anniversary and 2, they have never lit torches on their outdoor area like that. Excellent beer and cocktail choices. The patty melt was very delicious and burger decadent. Fried cod fish and chips were hot, fresh and delicious. Mini pretzel appetizer with honey mustard was very good to have with a cold beer. Good fries and tater tots. Only one bathroom available for both men and women and just one at a time made for too long a line at times. read more

Mmm...Beer Selection with a Big Patio and Decent Eats THE ATMOSPHERE: Folks with tattoos who like sports and beer. Big patio, no smoking inside. Whatever. THE SERVICE: Expect nothing special and for the servers to not really care. I think they are getting tipped decently on sheer turn over alone. THE MENU: Decent no complains, awesome options for vegheads. I admit I like the pretzels with my beer. THE DRINKS: Awesome, decently priced beer. YEA! THE FOOD: Not consistent in quality but the selection and the recipes aren't bad. I can rate them higher than other places because the servers aren't complete idiots, the prices are decent and tonight they played JDilla and Wu-Tang...I also love the patio. read more

GOOD: Midway is one of my favorite bars in Atlanta. The beer and the food menus are both great. They have rotating draft beers and bottles. I love the atmosphere here. It's spacious and there are several seating options. I love the giant booths. The patio is dog friendly and it's HUGE! Great place to bring in a large crowd. There are several TVs to watch sports. I love coming during baseball season. A lot of braves fans crowd around the bar. BAD: The table service isn't the best so try to grab a spot at the bar if you can. I've been here a few times where I've had send back my food to the kitchen because it came to the table cold. They recently changed their menu and the portion sizes are smaller (which is good compared to how much there used to be) but now you have to pay for your side items which sucks.. read more

The beer selection is always pretty good but they shortened the menu to barely anything (took off the arugula salad, brisket, and a ton of other stuff). They run out of the stuff they DO still have on the menu. The wings are never fresh, they par-cook them for speed but you can taste it and the hotness varies so you never know what you are going to get. It's still a good neighborhood spot to play some darts and grab a beer but it's not my favorite any more. Drink here but eat somewhere else. read more

Hottie hipsters, breeders, and the happy-hour business-esqe folks would likely all appreciate the huge patio, tasty food, and and as my boyfriend put it "one of the best jukeboxes I've ever seen." Midway is nested at the far end of Flat Shoals across the street from, what once was Echo Lounge and the present , Earth Shakin' Music. And!!! for all you fellow multi-taskers out there, I heard that they were going to add a little dogpark on the side as well. My service was perfect. This isn't the trendiest or nicest bar in Atlanta, but we keep coming back! They have a massive patio, a tiki bar, and a bocce court! This is a great place to hang out with friends in a relaxed environment. Their patio is also dog friendly, which is always nice. They have a good selection of bourbon and beer. Their food is surprisingly good. I highly recommend their soft pretzels and their chicken and waffles. Anything they fry is amazing as well. The only real con about this place is that their restrooms don't seem to get cleaned enough on busy nights. Its not always a problem, but I've been there a few times where they could have used a quick once over. read more

What can I say... the Midway kicks ass. Best grits ever and the beer selection is great. We went looking for pumpkin beer and they had 4! Service is pleasant and the crowd is nice. It's never crowded, which is a surprise... if this place was in Philly (where we live) it would be packed all the time. I recently went to Midway for the first time with some friends for our friend "Charlie's" birthday. The service was excellent and they really attended to our needs. Excellent selection of beers on tap (pilsner urquell for those inclined like me!), and the food was great too. Awesome large patio that is perfect for these Atlanta summer nights.
