The ambiance of this restaurant is very nice, comfortable. Service was good, but they weren't incredibly busy at the time we were there. The menu is limited, and the prices a bit high (10 oz. prime rib for $37. Yikes!). Also, you don't get rolls or a salad, etc. with your meal and the price of appetizers is a bit steep, not to mention that's a limited selection also. Meals for my husband and me were very disappointing. My balsamic basil chicken was dry and so overcooked that I couldn't eat half of it because I literally couldn't cut into it, the seasonal vegetables were okay but nothing to write home about. My husband's fish was not an impressively large piece and that too was dry. we were hoping to find a restaurant closer to home so we could avoid having to always drive long distances When we want to eat out. Sadly, our search continues. If they can't cook chicken or haddock, I'm very apprehensive about trying something more complicated to cook (and more expensive). read more

Food was spectacular, service was attentive, and ambiance was just a tad above casual. We ordered the steak special with baked potato and seasonal veggies. Food was so good I didn't even consider taking a picture. Steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare as requested) and very flavorful. Mid-winter margarita was so yum I had to get 2. Carrot cake for dessert was super moist and flavorful but that wasn't even the best part! they now serve TWO slices per order!!! read more

The restaurant was almost empty on Thursday evening at 6 pm. Sadly this was the second tImp id two months that my meal was was very poor. The last time I had seafood this time a Wally's Hamburger and fries. sadly both meals tasted like they had been frozen for a long while ie texture and taste had tastes of freezer burn and the texture of the food was poor. The fries as well as they were both overcooked and tasteless. I find this very sad. I know how hard it to run a business having run a gourmet ice cream and gelato establishment in Saratoga Springs NY years ago. And especially in a small town it's even more difficult. That said I feel their memo needs a complete revision and an effort to win back old customers and to experiment with being better quality. Our good friends live in Stillwater (NY) in a beautiful log home on the Hudson River. They have been talking about their favorite restaurant, Wallie's, forever. Last night we found out why. Wallie's is located in Greenwich (NY - pronounced GREEN-wich) which is just over the Hudson from Schuylerville and about 20 minutes from Saratoga Springs. Well worth the drive. I was told that the restaurant has been around a long time (one of our friends used to go there with his parents as a youngster), but was closed for many years. The current owners did a fabulous renovation job! It's well beyond tavern quality. If they upgraded the seating to plush chairs, you would think you walked into a five-star dining establishment. Our food and beverages did not disappoint. My hubs and I ordered Whiskey Sours which were truly authentic. I'm a martini gal and hadn't had one in years - it was delicious. We shared the Calamari appetizer which was perfectly fried, crispy and not greasy, and the perfect size portion for two. It was accompanied with a thick marinara. We thoroughly enjoyed their house special, Prime Rib (offered in 10 or 14 ounce portions), which was cooked to perfection (rare). The beef was offered with horseradish or horseradish cream (or both!). The mixed vegetables that accompanied the meat were fresh and not overcooked. There was also a baked potato. We were too full to sample dessert. Next time! Our server was accommodating and the timing of delivery of our food was a bit slow (there were only two other tables with patrons) but we were not in a hurry so we didn't mind. Wallie's was a superb find. You won't find better prime rib anywhere. Their menu is limited but they cover all the bases. Items are reasonably priced. I do hope they expand their offerings - or add specials (which they didn't have last night) - to get locals and other regulars to dine there more often. Having said that, it's the prime rib that draws our friends to this place (a 15-20 minute drive from Stillwater). Wallie's bar area is charming. Warm and cozy with bar and table seating. They also have off-street parking. This place is a winner! read more

Met friends here for lunch. The place looks nice and spacious. We got seated right away. Our server was very nice and attentive. We all had burgers. It was good. My onion rings were nicely seasoned and crispy. Only issue was medium was on the well done side and one of us ordered a little on the pink side which we got but given to the wrong person. Cook should put a mark to avoid confusion. We will try again some time when in town. read more

Surprisingly, I found myself in Greenwich and needed a place to eat. With that being said, Wallie's caught my attention. As I walked in, the inside was very nice and I was hoping my meal would be too. Knowing that, I ordered medium chicken wings as an appetizer. The wings were big and juicy, but the sauce lacked flavor. The wings were solid, but nothing spectacular. After that, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries for my meal. To put into words, the burger was mediocre. To explain, the beef was a bit flavorless and bland. However, the roll tasted fresh and elevated the burger. In addition, the fries were tasty. They were hot, crispy, and flavorful. I would also like to mention that the waiter was a bit rude and didn't do his job well. To explain, I asked several times for plates and napkins which he never brought. Also, he barely came to the table because he was too busy talking about football with other people. I cannot begin to tell you the overwhelming, exceptional experience I had. I went on the busiest weekend, Columbus Day, and yes Saturday night. This business has it all. Even though there was a wedding going on, the dining experience went on without a hitch! The waitress was exceptionally caring, the food was cooked to perfection and the best part was the relaxed atmosphere! I can see why this establishment is still going strong! Perfectly cooked and seasoned meat, amazing baked potato and delicious not over cooked seasons veggies. We had broccoli, cauliflower and carrots, and each were colorful and flavorful. We love going to Wallie's for lunch or dinner when visiting family in the area. It's always warm and welcoming and has a nice atmosphere inside with delicious beers on tap. The menu is solid and we appreciate the varied options on the kids menu for our three little ones. As there aren't a ton of dining spots in the area, we appreciate that Wallie's is here and love the history of the place. Definitely a spot to check out. read more

The family has been to Wallie's twice now since it re-opened. The food and service were fantastic both times. We stopped in right after they opened and again for the night of the tractor parade. The fries were especially good (odd to rave about fries). The steamed clams were also incredibly good, with sausage chunks and lots of garlic in the beer and butter sauce; great for dipping the included garlic bread. Draft beer list seems to always have a dozen or so options. Four different seating areas makes for a lot of choice: dining room, bar area, loft, and back room for events and larger groups. Visiting requires a 40-min drive each way for us and the experience justifies the trip. We'll be back! read more

While I have been in for food in the past, tonight I just had specialty cocktail. Prompt service and well balance drink.

I had heard all about Wallies back in the day from my wife and her family. We finally had the chance to take the family out. It was ok. Food was not bad and It came quickly. Menu was extremely limited. 5 or 6 light items and 5 or 6 entrees. Out to dinner with two habitual steak orderers we were surprised to find no grilled steak entree available. No filet, no NY strip, the only option for beef was prime rib or a burger.​ Everyone settled on fish, which was a baked haddock with seasonal vegetables. Seasonal vegetables were Brussels sprouts and carrots which it happened that no one at the table cared for. There was no other option offered. $28 haddock entree. No salad offered, no bread for the table. We got drinks and hot entrees in 15 minutes. It wasn't bad but I feel we could have received more for less money at a few other places nearby. We most likely will not be returning. read more

A hearty welcome back to an established restaurant that was a mainstay of Greenwich for years. A totally gorgeous remodel (Kuzmich Restoration)and pub menu a wonderful surprise after too many years of being closed. Fresh clams appetizer is a meal in itself served with garlic bread with plenty of delicious broth to sop with. Garlicky and flavorful. The Wallie burger cooked to perfection. Bar personnel and waitstaff were professional and attentive to the ten of us having cocktails and dinner. The Sunday night 90 cent cocktails a must. One per person sadly. We were all happily satisfied and looking forward to dining again. Highly recommended. Easy on and off street parking. read more
