Walking into this restaurant feels less like dining out and more like accidentally becoming an audience member in an employee break room. The confusion doesn't stop there. New employees appear to have little understanding of the menu they're tasked with explaining. Simple questions are met with uncertainty. Then there's the chef's apparent obsession with garlic. Subtle flavors were buried beneath a relentless wave of pungency that dominated everything it touched. At some point, it felt less like ordering from a menu and more like participating in a garlic tasting disguised as a restaurant. After a long day of travel, we walked into Mirage Restaurant inside the Four Points by Sheraton Chicago O'Hare about 10 minutes before closing -- and they kindly welcomed us in. That alone meant a lot. Because of the timing, we were encouraged to choose between a burger or a club sandwich, so we ordered one of each. The burger was absolutely delicious, and the steak fries were perfectly cooked -- crispy on the outside, soft inside. My mouth is honestly watering just thinking about it again. The food came out quickly, which we appreciated, and we noticed they even have a dart board and Ms. Pac-Man for a fun, relaxed vibe -- though we didn't have time to play. The food was inedible, the pizza tasted like spoiled cheese and old pepperoni. I believe the wings were frozen wings put in a microwave. We ate half a slice of pizza each and left the rest. The staff were missing in action the entire time. Soda tasted like they hadn't cleaned the well guns at the bar in weeks. There was no manager, so I charged it to my room figuring I would take it up with the hotel. The hotel said it wasn't their problem, different owners but same building. We ended up checking out of the hotel, separate review, after finding a blood stain on the sheets. This hotel should be shutdown and I'm shocked that the restaurant is still in business. Unfortunately, this was our second time ATTEMPTING to dine here since than pandemic, and the service is SOOOO HORRIFIC, the first time we couldn't even get our meals, this time we didn't even make it to be seated. I entered before my party and entered running to the washroom for a tissue as we're facing below Zero temperatures, a worker came out from behind the bar, who didn't even speak or understand my response speaking English and was SCREAMING AND BERATING me for running to the washroom?! I felt so attacked and insulted; we decided not even to stay, un-imagining what the REST of the service would entail!! The service after being seated was fine, orders were taken promptly and the meals were delivered pretty quickly. Everything was very good with large portions. After the food was provided, the service evaporated. After finishing their meals, the boys wanted desert but no one checked in on us. I came to the Four Points hotel for a wedding ceremony. Before the ceremony, my fiancée (our turn soon!) stopped at the Mirage for a quick drink with some friends. It had a very casino type feel. Anyways, the bartender was super friendly and made an excellent lemon drop. They were $14 ea, but they were delicious. I also appreciate the quick closing out of our tab since we had to make our way back to the wedding. It's a small establishment in the hotel. It's a great spot to hit on a late night or if you're not ready to go to bed yet. read more

We were staying at the Four Points Sheraton hotel prior to flying out of Chicago. We almost never eat in hotel restaurants but decided to tonight. 5 stars all the way. From the ambience of this restaurant, to the wonderful ladies who served us. So very pleasant, attentive and helpful. Our hot water glass was constantly being filled and we enjoyed short conversations with our lovely waitress. Now for the food. Top notch! So delicious was our meal and well presented. Pricing was very reasonable for a hotel restaurant. Our 2 meals came in under $40. We ordered a Greek salad and a Yummy burger and fries. We briefly mentioned we were sharing this meal. When our waitress came back with our meal, it came on 4 plates.... 2 plates of Greek salad, and the burger and fries were divided on separate plates as well. The portions were quite generous. We appreciated that it came divided for us, as we thought we would just have to divide up at the table. The food was as delicious as it looked. The burger was cooked to perfection and was tasty and juicy. Highly recommend. The Greek salad had lots of feta cheese and was fresh and full of tomatoes, onions and was also delicious. When looking for a restaurant to take our guests to for dinner after their arrival from an overseas flight, we were surprised to find this restaurant right in the same hotel we booked them into, the Four Points Sheraton O'Hare. The traffic around the hotel was so bad, we were thankful not to have to go elsewhere. I was at first disappointed looking at the menu which had only a few items to choose from. But when our orders arrived, we were all very pleased with the food's presentation and tastiness! The weird thing is that Mirage is not even mentioned on the hotel's website. When I had called the hotel the day before to ask about nearby places to eat, I was put on hold all three times I called, and no one ever came back to the line to talk to me! It took 18:29 seconds for anyone to recognize I was in the bar. So after 5 minutes, I ordered through Grubhub. That seemed to work. Would have had a couple, or more, drinks...but neither waiter or bartender seemed to aware of my need. As a known passive aggressive person, I did not raise a stink as I sat there. The eggs had a weird sour taste, which was unappetizing. The pancakes were also rock hard. They must have been sitting there for a while. On my second visit, I ordered the Americana omelette, which was huge. Enough for two people. The service was much slower on the second day. My sister and I came here due to a flight delay and I got offered an overnight package which included a $12 meal voucher here. The server, Joe Kelly, was super sweet and attentive. We ordered an appetizer and an entree to share, I didn't even have to tell him that we're sharing food, he immediately noticed and offered to split the pasta into two plates. We've never been to Chicago before but Joe really made a wonderful impression of the city with his warm welcoming attitude, will definitely want to visit this city one day! read more

Best things on menu: chicken flatbread is number 1. Caesar Salad with chicken is number 2 and the hummus with pita chips is 3. Lots of people get the burger on the pretzel bun but it is just ok. This is a restaurant at an airport hotel that definitely impressed me. The bar is large and can seat approx. a dozen people. There are plenty of televisions showing mostly sports games. While their menu had a lot of options, all seem to be reasonably priced. I ultimately selected the Chicken Armani, which came with your choice of soup or salad. I went with soup and LOVED the beef barley. It was tasty, not too salty and full of flavor. I ate every bite. My drink of choice was the Odyssey, which the bartender made to perfection each time. Drink prices were very reasonable and quite tasty, based on what I ordered. My entree was fantastic and again, much better than what I expected from an airport restaurant. The sauce was the very best part of my entree and I soaked up everything I could with my remaining bread. Being an airport bar, the crowd is from all over, but you can meet very interesting people. Landed at O'Hare and we were hungry. Decided to try the restaurant tied to our hotel at the Sheraton. It was decent. We were seated in the sport bar area for table service was closed. We went past 9pm. The main restaurant section was lovely, but the sports bar was decent. It had an old school vide type of feel with some cozy arm chairs by the fire. Our host seated us right away and told us about the drink specials. They also had a few food specials for the game last night. I ordered the country penne. It consisted of sausage, chicken, mushrooms in creamy tomatoes sauce. The dish was paired with a soup or salad. We got the tomatoes bisque. It was good, but I felt the pasta had the same sauce. The down side to our pasta was that it was a bit hard, which made us indicate it was undercooked a bit. I ate at this restaurant as a guest of the hotel. Some online reviews were great and some were terrible, but there were many and showed to historical record for years. I ordered the club sandwich because the pictures looked incredible. I give the restaurant a three for the following reasons: the menu stated that the sandwich was provided with cheddar cheese. It was not. It was American cheese, which is not cheese. When the server delivered my food to my room, he handed me a paper that had a handwritten total. I had read online that there was a 20% service charge added, and therefore, I asked the delivery person whether or not gratuity was already included. He pulled a physical receipt out of his pocket and said "let me check". Sneaking suspicion, he already knew the answer... Ultimately, he told me that the gratuity all went to him and he was actually already getting 20%, but in his own way, encouraged me to tip more "if you want to." Regardless of the end result, it's deceitful to not alert people that you are already paying a tip. If I had thought about it, I might have told him to remove it altogether. While the sandwich was fine, it was not remotely close to the photos that were provided online. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I continue to think about the lawsuit happening in New York State, just filed in the last week of October 2024, where a popular sub sandwich company is being sued in a class action lawsuit because their photos, and their actual product are so far apart, an attorney is actually willing to take them to task... Would I eat here again? Likely, it is convenient... But I see why it has only earned three stars. read more

This delightful restaurant is located in the Sheraton Four Points hotel about 5 min from the airport. Their Chicken Masala is a must have whenever I'm here. A co-worker recommended it saying it was wonderful and he was right! They have a daily Chefs Specials menu in addition to their regular menu. On this visit I tried the Veggie Confetti Lemon Cream soup from the Chefs Specials that was unbelievably delicious. Krystyna, my server told me it was the first time they have had it in the restaurant. It's a blended soup where the vegetables are very tiny pieces of orange (carrots), red (peppers), green (broccoli?) and brown bits (mushrooms). It was not a heavy cream soup base. It was light with a delightful lemon kiss. So good I got a bowl to go! On a another visit I had their mushroom soup and it is just as wonderful. The best mushroom soup I have had. I would stop here on a cold fall/winter day and just have soup and their homemade bread. As mentioned before I had the Chicken Masala on more than one occasion and it never disappoints. You have a choice of potato and I always choose mashed to get up every bit of the masala sauce. The mashed potato is a rustic mashed with the skins which I love. It comes with the Chefs vegetable too. This visit it was steamed broccoli, cauliflower and yellow squash and spice glazed carrots on top (not pictured...I ate them first!). This was such an over the top touch to the meal. All the times I've been here I have had servers that are helpful, cheerful and charming. They are willing to do what it takes for you to have a pleasant dining experience. This includes letting the kitchen know you have to catch the van to the airport in 50min. Kudos to the Mirage staff! Back again and of course the Mirage didn't disappoint! I was going to go with my usual, Chicken Marsala, however today I stepped out of my box and spotted the Chef's Special's, Pork Tenderloin with Dumplings. Normally dumplings are not my thing because it's flour and water and you may as well just plaster it on your derrière. Today they were made with potatoes (just a little healthier). The entire dish had a wild mushroom gravy on it. The Mirage makes a delicious mushroom soup that I've reviewed before so I was delighted to have some form of mushrooms. The pork tenderloin was fork tender (cut it with a fork for non-foodies) and delicious. The potato dumplings reminded me of gnocchi. Without the gravy they lacked flavor. If I were to have it again I would sub them for mashed potatoes (again dumplings just aren't my fave). Whoever makes the soups at the Mirage is a soup master. Today the soup du jour was Creamy Chicken and Rice (need I say more). Thanks Mirage! Can't wait till I'm back in Chi town again for your next culinary delight. read more

Got stuck here at the hotel due Tina Cancelled flight. Wanted to eat here, but was greeted with a very dirty bar and a bartender with a bad attitude. Used dishes filled the bar, dirty tables and trash everywhere. I asked about getting food and was told the kitchen was closed even though it was 10 minutes till closing. Even asking the question seemed to offend the bartender. definitely not a welcoming environment for guests. read more

My dad and I come here when he is in and out of town quick and staying overnight at the hotel. I always get excited because they have the BEST wings and steak fries! The wings are so incredibly juicy and tasty. It is probably something so simple that they do, but I'm obsessed. The service is a little slow, but it's ok, the food is worth it! I would not go here if I was not staying in the hotel. There's better restaurants and bars in the area. In fact, even if you are staying at the hotel, do yourself a favor and Uber it to someplace better. A group of us went out after work for drinks and snacks. The bar and restaurant and combined for construction which is convenient for no one. The severs were inconsistent and sometimes charged and sometimes didn't. When I went to settle a bill for a friend that had to leave, the server told me that my friend was a group of 3 that had 2-3 drinks each. When I asked for an itemization, i.e., go to the register and print what was open, he couldn't do it. So I asked again what they had to drink and he said $60. Again no detail. Called my friend and she told me she had 2 mules and the other had one white wine. Should cost about $25, not $60. When I told the server, he backpedaled and agreed. He then asked if all the money on the bar from the way of the group was for him. And with our group, normally it would be. But not after trying to dick us with the previous transaction. So we asked for a manager and an itemization and paid and tipped accordingly. They put out a complementary buffet when we were there, which was nice but not amazing. We lucked into this place as a result of flying out of O'Hare. Our flight was "o-dark-30", the next day so we decided to eat here after we checked in. I have very low expectations of hotel restaurant food and dining experience, so I was very impressed by Mirage. My grandson got a "small" cheese pizza (which was plenty big for a 12 year old. He said he liked it but, like most 12 year olds, didn't wax poetic about it. My wife & I split a 1/2 pound cheeseburger with fries. The food came out on a single plate, which is what we're used to. When the waiter put it down and I asked for another plate he said he would take care of it and be right back. He went in the back and had the cook cut it in half and brought it out in two plates. I know, seems like a little thing, but we share fairly often and often have to pay extra to split food. The staff with whom we interacted were friendly and helpful, even though they were pretty busy. The burger was tasty. It didn't have that heavy sweet corn flavor you get from "old" and/or previously frozen beef. When the waitress asked how I'd like it cooked, I said medium rare, if possible. I always ask but seldom receive a perfectly cooked burger. The one Mirage served me was cooked to perfection. That showed me it wasn't pre-cooked and sitting in a fatty "juice" waiting for someone to order it. It's easy to tell when you order a burger medium or medium rare. The fries were good too. They have a nice beer list, including some local brews. Was the place perfect? Of course not. But the small problems were things like noise and somewhat dated decor. Not even worth mentioning, other than the fact that I never trust a review that can't say ANYTHING bad about a place. Mirage is probably not a place you'd go if you weren't staying in this particular hotel, but if you are staying here, it is a good place to eat. read more

I originally thought it was part of the hotel, but I asked the cashier who told me the restaurant and lounge were not part of the hotel. I looked at the menu, and I thought I was eating at a very good Greek diner in Chicago. I decided to order the Chicken Armani which came with a choice of soup or salad. I was served a very tasty garden salad with homemade balsamic dressing. My entree was composed of a large split chicken breast oven cooked with mushrooms and artichokes over rice, covered with a piquant cream sauce. The dish was excellent and filling. The service was terrible and the food wasn't much better. To be fair there wasn't enough staff working to cover all the tables but yet the bartender still had time to lean and watch TV. I asked what type of beer they had. She responded with a pale ale, an IPA, or a lager no description, no names for any of them. I chose the pale ale, which was quite nice, however, it had a very heavy fruit flavor so someone may want to know that prior to ordering. I wasn't quite sure how hungry I was so I was deciding between an appetizer or a meal I asked the server about the goat cheese appetizer. She just shrugged her shoulders and said it's really tiny so I opted for a burger the burger came out about 30 minutes later, it was OK, the sauce on it was really good. I remember correctly it was the dirty burger fries were just like normal fries you would get from anywhere. I only chose this place because it was in the hotel lobby I was staying at. Excellent food and excellent prices. I was stuck in Chicago due to weather and stayed at the Sheraton. I was very happy with every meal. Portions were generous and there was a great variety on the menu. I ate from breakfast, lunch and dinner selections. Breakfast was hearty and filling. They only had one waiter working and there were a few other people so we sat down and waited for a while, after a few minutes the waiter passed by and dropped the menus and kept walking, we dismissed it since there was only one waiter that we could see. After about twenty minutes the waiter came around and asked what we wanted, we ordered the food and needed to ask for water as the waiter didn't bring any or ask if we wanted a drink, after ten minutes they brought the water and we waited 50 minutes until the food came, we saw people around us get food and we were just waiting. The food itself was dissapointing. I got the caprese omelet which was decent but it comes with hash browns and toast, I'm sad to say that the hash browns were burnt and the toast wasn't toasted, the waiter also didn't ask the type of bread I wanted, the person I came with asked for the florentine Benedict and we shared the food, the florentine Benedict had NO flavor and NO seasoning, not even salt or pepper. It was the blandest food I'd ever tasted in my life and each item was fourteen dollars, for the price I'd expected some good food, not the bland mushy food we received. The place wasn't super well kept but it wasn't bad, the staff was arguing loudly in the back but other than that the feel of it wasn't so bad.
