This is an old-fashioned mom-and-pop diner serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food was simple, homemade-style comfort food, and everything we had was delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. I almost passed on trying this place because I saw a review mentioning rude staff and racist comments, but I'm really glad I gave them a chance. The majority of the kitchen staff was Hispanic, and one of the servers was as well, so I highly doubt those comments are accurate. The staff may be a little more mature/old-school, but they were absolutely not rude. BTW, my husband is Mexican, and everyone was very kind and polite to us. If you appreciate a full cup of coffee (they actually come around and top it off often!) and good, simple diner food, give them a try. Nice to see places like this still exist! read more

If you're looking for a homey diner with good comfort food options, this is the place. We stopped for breakfast before a road trip, and we left with full stomachs and plenty of leftovers for the road. I went for the spinach and feta omelette with hash browns, and it was delicious. The spinach to cheese ratio in the omelette was perfect, and the hash browns were deliciously crunchy and salty. My guest ordered the banana French toast, and she noted that it was perfectly cooked and not overly sweet pre-syrup. We shared the Nutella crêpes, and they were delightful. The crêpes themselves were light and airy, and the Nutella was a great sweet pairing. Overall, we were very happy with our food. While I probably won't be back because I live six hours away, I highly recommend Al & Andy's if you're in the area! read more

I enjoyed the breakfast very much . It was ample . The wait staff were very nice and explained the menu and gave opinions on the meal decision ! It was a family style resturant. They have a small parking area or street parking. The breakfast was filling and no room for anything else . Coffee was refilled often enough with many types of creams on the table . read more

Chicken kabob is one of the best I've had, and while I think I might want something else when looking at the menu, this is my go-to because it is that good - full of flavor, veggies and chicken served on a bed of rice with a light, flavorful sauce. This is one of the only mom and pop restaurants left . You get great portions for your dollar . It's not all fancy and modern , just a regular neighborhood restaurant great for breakfast especially! Al & Andy's looks like it's been there a long time. Breakfast was average...not bad but not amazing. My only complaints are burned toast with my breakfast was clearly made on a grill...not in a toaster. Also, our server started to put my leftovers in the box for me until I intervened and said I could do that myself. I'm pretty sure I saw her earlier blowing her nose and then handling plates of food. Ick! Two breakfasts with drinks was $40.00. Perhaps I'll consider going somewhere else next time. read more

My boyfriend and I love this place. I have been coming here since I was a kid on Sundays and introduced my boyfriend to it. It's now our favorite breakfast date spot! I order the same thing every time a bowl of cream of chicken soup and an egg and cheese croissant with hashbrowns. Never disappointed and the staff is incredible and kind. read more

Have been going here for decades. The meals have always been good. Many people from locals and people staying nearby to OHare come here. People meet for business meetings. The only advise I would give is to make sure you bring a charged device or extra charger since electrical outlets are not plentiful. read more

I ordered the liver and onions special with mashed potatoes ($13.95) that came with rolls and soup/salad; my older son had strip steak and eggs (cooked perfectly medium rare and a good 8oz cut ... $18); younger son had kids pasta with meat sauce ($8) which was an adult-sized portion; and my wife had the Greek wrap ($14.95 with rolls, soup/salad) that she loved. This place is good, fast, and depending on your income, it's relatively inexpensive or expensive. Ok, the food that I've experienced is not extraordinary but it's all pretty safe and it shouldn't be terrible in your mouth. There are diners and then there's Al & Andy's Restaurant. The epitome of old-world good food served fast. We loved this old school place so much that we went twice, two days in a row. We would have visited again but we had to return home. In both instances, we stopped by for breakfast. We had omelets, griddle cakes and eggs in skillets served with a plethora of hash browns. I ordered mine sans hash browns. Note to reader: do as I say not as I do (order yours with has browns).
