    A very sweet message
    Nicole M.

A hidden gem! I used to pass by this place while driving around campus or walking around. I didn't think too much of it cause it was kind of just on the side. The first time I came here, my friend and I had a one-on-one and recommended this cute cafe. I ordered the Hungry Bear Meal with the Atlantic Wild Salmon with the Tomato Basil Soup(found out today that if I didn't want a drink, it'd be cheaper to just get those separate, math haha...). I ordered the same thing today and I've thought about this pretty often because it was so delicious! They have breakfast all day, and a huge selection of sandwiches, soups, sides, and honestly, anything else you can think of! They have some delicious and healthy options, and I was left with a beautiful and sweet message on my to-to bag! My only complaint would be that I wish I had came here earlier! Inside is super cute and seems very homey. The service here is incredible, you've got people here who have the best attitude and who are happy to serve you. 10/10 would definitely recommend!

This place was recommended by all my Baylor friends, and I have to say, this place does not disappoint. The food is served hot off the griddle! You really can't go wrong with any of their menu options (I had the Texas Steak Please burrito). I recommend going right when they open because they do get busy during the day.

This is not your ordinary sandwich shop. This is a wonderful twist on what others put between 2 slices of bread! YUM!! It's difficult to choose only one so our Bear and her dad split theirs. Quesadilla are crazy good! I can't get enough of their Chicken Salad! The white bread (bun) is SO GOOD but our Bear said she likes the wheat even better!! Close to campus is an extra bonus. Can't beat The Mix Cafe!

The Mix Cafe Order at counter and they bring the food out to you. No frills, good price and good amount of food portions. Everything is served in paper trays and expenses are minimum to keep costs down. Ordered the complete Breakfast omelette with 4 items, sausage, ham, mushrooms and bacon along with hash browns. Was pretty good came out and was served with good service. Considering cost and quality of food very good win for the customer

I'm not completely sure why this Cafe has such high reviews, everything here was pretty average. Yes, the freshness of the food was great.. But everything else was pretty meh. The sweet potato fries were really the only thing I liked from here!

Brussel Sprouts and Kale Salad (With Chicken which is Extra)

this was my first time coming here and it was absolutely delicious!! I had the Brussel Sprout Kale Salad with Chicken, which was extra. I'm a huge fan of brussel sprouts so this was the best salad i've ever had. the proportion was great! there was enough food to keep me content, but not enough to where i feel super bloated. the salad didn't even need the dressing, the salad flavor was perfect by itself. i'm so glad i came here! i go to baylor so i'll definitely be coming here every chance i get. their menu is very diverse with a wide selection, so i cant wait to try everything else they serve. i definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for good food.

Great local spot just steps away from Baylor Campus. We had breakfast burritos and they were delicious. Place has a nice hip feel to it, with professors, students and their family sitting all in one room. I will certainly return.

Went back and got food to-go since I am not dining in these days, and while my avocado melt was delicious, the sweet potato fries were over salted and cooked unevenly. Still nice that it's close to campus, but food prices are high - $14 for a sandwich and average fries with a cup of water.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in and directed to choose a table of our preference. The waitress quickly came over and grabbed our drink order while we looked at the menu. We placed our order and the waitress was very knowledgeable and able to answer our questions. She also informed us they work as a team so we can stop anyone when/if we need something. We started with the "Burning Bush" appetizer (crispy Brussel sprouts w/ lemon garlic aioli). YUM! They had just the right bite to them, and the glaze on them paired with the aioli was delicious! For our entrees we had the Golden Calf Burger w/ sweet potato fries and sriracha aioli and The Weight of Glory Sandwich w/ broccoli slaw. They were both incredibly flavorful and fresh! You can tell they locally source their ingredients and prepare them onsite. The portions are also plentiful, and we left with a takeout box. To round off lunch we tried the special mousse on the specials board (coffee flavored cheesecake mousse). It was so delightful we dug in before I could snap a pic. Just enough coffee flavor paired with chocolate sauce (not hersheys ). The big windows allow for a lot of natural light and lends to a welcoming and warm environment. We will for sure be back and bring others!

I especially enjoyed how the herbed goat cheese mixed with the lemon aioli (aioli is garlic mayo so the garlic is redundant in the menu) and beef patty. That combo was deadly to me, oof Some nice cold coleslaw to compliment the hot burger was a nice mix. I still haven't forgotten how heavy their tomato soup is! So packed with flavor omg. Friendly + quick staff as always and gorgeous wooden seating.

Alpha & Omega Mediterranean Grill and bakery hit the spot ! As you can see from the photos the foodlooked delicious. And, the flavor met expectations. I enjoyed the grilled chicken thighs, which had a nice lemon mustard flavor, some rice, broccoli, and pita bread. I also had some chicken orzo soup, which when it first came out was tepid in temperature. However, the team snapped to action and, reheated it promptly. All in all everyone in my party enjoyed their food. Fortunately, we beat the lunch rush and did not have to wait very long to get our food and seats were ready available. The vibe inside was rustic and warm and the staff was friendly and polite! (It's possible to be friendly without being polite, but this crew really hit the mark)

The pita had good flavor but the lamb tasted more like birria taco meat versus Greek food. The pita was also very soft and didn't hold up well. Fast forward to this evening's attempt. I ordered a chicken gyro, feta fries and a piece of baklava. My fries were literally burnt fries with shredded feta and pretty inedible. The baklava top layer was fine but the bottom layer of the phyllo was burnt, but overall soggy. The most disappointing was the gyro. It was filled with old onions that smelled as soon as I opened the box. I attempted to take them all off and salvage it with tzatziki sauce but after one bite the old onion flavor completely ruined the entire thing. So there went $20. I think this place has some potential and maybe in the future I'll try again, but buying food to literally throw it away was not on the agenda I will say the two stars are due to the two young ladies who assisted me at the restaurant. They were very polite during the ordering process.

We got the banana pudding meringue and absolutely demolished it. It's said to be one of the owner's mother's recipes. If it was made incorrectly, that's fine, but just offer to remake it. It's a $7 drink; the cost to fix it is minimal, and customers remember when you take the time to make something right. Because I requested no ice, the drink also wasn't filled to the top, which felt dismissive considering it was a full-priced order. Unfortunately I cannot drink super cold drinks or food. Seems silly to let a customer walk away with 2 oz shy of a full drink because you usually put ice Service: The staff member was polite when I walked in and even suggested one of their specialty drinks, which I appreciated. However, after I explained that I wanted a simple peach and mango tea and didn't want the specialty item that included strawberry and jellies, she continued to try to steer me toward her suggestion -- saying, "I think you'll like this better." I value recommendations, but once a customer has clearly declined, it's important to respect their preference. After receiving the drink, I realized how overly sweet it was and politely asked if it was truly 25%. I was told it might be because the boba had honey, but having visited hundreds of boba tea places, that alone wouldn't cause such a strong sweetness. I mentioned that I'm pregnant and watching my sugar intake, an opportunity to show care, yet there was no offer to adjust or remake it. When I politely set the drink down and left, there was no follow-up or acknowledgment. I didn't ask for a refund; I simply walked away. If keeping that one cup meant more than keeping a customer, that says something about priorities. Ambiance: Poppa Bear has a cozy café setup with Wi-Fi and a warm, casual vibe. When I visited, a few college students were working quietly on laptops. It's the kind of space that could easily become a community favorite. However, the experience felt like the team was more focused on avoiding loss than creating loyalty. In business, especially hospitality, a small margin for remakes or mistakes is simply part of good operations and it pays back tenfold in customer trust. Overall: Poppa Bear has real potential. The drinks and environment are inviting, but consistent service and responsiveness will determine its long-term success. A little attentiveness and flexibility go a long way in building loyal customers.
