The place is gorgeous but it was cold and empty on a Saturday night. We arrived on time for happy hour and we ordered plenty but nothing was really great. The employees left the door open allowing a cold draft to enter and the employees were more glued to the tv watching the football game (as we all were). The pasta bolognese tasted like it came out of a prepackaged dinner box and didn't taste fresh. Would probably not come back here unless I learned more about their other offerings. read more

I came here tonight with 2 friends and was really impressed. This is one of those spots that is new, and has not been discovered yet, because once it is, it will be packed. We shared a bunch of dishes, all of which were delicious, though my favorite was the cauliflower. I had a martini (which if you ask for Well is $5 during happy hour,) and we shared the bread pudding. While the main dishes are pricey, the side dishes are enough food to be main dishes. What stood out the most was the ridiculously friendly and attentive service. Our waitress was so nice, she asked the manager more than once about requests that I'm pretty sure my friends were partially joking about. She seemed to really care that customers had a good experience. The decor was cool, and I heard it turns into a dance floor on Fridays and Saturdays. The owner is very oriented towards working with local events, and one can most always catch a fantastic event! I give this place 2 stars because it is in a great location and it looks cool. My favorite thing about this place was the friendly security guard. He made us feel welcome; the staff? meh We ordered drinks and the waitress asked if we wanted to make it a double. We said, "sure." The first thing we did when she delivered the drinks was laugh. I came on Friday, for "happy hour" there was about 3 parties there. Got seated and waited 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. She came and was nice, but we ordered a drink and asked what food was on happy Hour. Thought that was a pretty normal question.... she laughs and says nothing is on HH, except what is already 5$... which is basically 1 thing. The MIXX is a great spot to come to when you want to have a night out in the wonderful city of Pasadena. The manager was amazingly nice, The staff and my waitress were also awesome. Their BBQ Shrimp was delicious. Upon attending there was a quartet performing on stage, Who did a great job and entertained everyone in the establishment. Their music had a fun cocktail vibe to it. I went on a Saturday evening and after 10pm the place transforms into a trendy environment with a DJ. I didn't stay to hear his set, But I'm pretty sure it was Hip Hop, Because his bag had the word "Trap" written on the side of it. There were three security guards out front, So you will be safe while enjoying yourself. All in All, I will definitely be going back. Oh I almost forgot to mention they have Happy hour EVERYDAY!!! My husband and I decided to try this place out after passing by several weeks ago bc we found out from one of their employees that they have live music friday nights. The server was very sweet and kind. However, her lack of knowledge of everything made it unpleasant for me. We were told the music would be jazz for the evening (r&b), we were told the music would start at 8:30 when in fact it started at 9:00, we were told the food was good (very mediocre and overpriced). While she was very apologetic about the misinformation I think they really need to work on letting the servers know what is going on with the live entertainment and work on their food. If I had known all this prior, I would not have patronized the place. Total waste of money and time. read more

Just had an art show here and everyone had a blast! Staff was friendly and experienced. You can tell right away. This is a great venue to host any kind of party. Lots of room. Has a stage, tables, and bar seats. All newly renovated, but would change the color of the walls. Other than that, they have 3 huge TVs. Watched the Dodgers playoffs here, boxing, and UFC fights. The bartender tried to charge us for 6 beers we didn't order. When we informed him that we didn't order those he simply said "yeah I know." WTH. We were there for live music. The stage was nice but 2 of the Mic cables the bands were using kept crackling out the whole set. The cables belonged to the venue. Perhaps the Mixx doesn't realize the importance of having functioning cables for their live music, unacceptable. read more

Went here for the first time last night for a friends birthday, and got charged a cover charge(which no big deal) but there were other people just walking in and not being charged??? It's a nice establishment. Great atmosphere, good food and drinks for a reasonable price. But what negates all of that is the VERY SLOW SERVICE. The management is doing an AWFUL JOB with staffing. I don't understand how you can have these big special events and there's only 3 servers and ONE bartender for the entire room??? I was there last night for Valentine's Day and last week for Plei. The poor staff was just frazzled. Even with the two call-offs we heard about, there should have been a backup plan. Wow! The owner of this place is a pathological liar! The bizarre scenario that Ed M. fabricated in response to my review is puzzling. To the contrary (as indicated in my first review) from what Ed M. writes, I have never been inside The Mixx. So clearly, I have never used (or requested the use) of their restrooms. The notion that I have been to the Mixx to use their restrooms while waiting for a bus is a total lie!!! First, I don't ride the bus ( I have a car and lyft/uber apps on my iphone). Second, Why would anyone go to a closed business to use the restrooms when other nearby businesses are open. If Ed M. lies like he did below imagine what he is capable of when it comes to food handling/preparation... .I bet this guy has a serious track record of closed doors, serial lies, broken promises, and bad reputation--bad karma, bad vibes all around. Ed M. is clearly capable of lying about anything. Read his responses to the negative reviews--he never apologizes or admits wrong doing! Many of his responses are implausible and almost all blame the customer for the issues. AVOID! read more
