Took a nice drive up valley to try the St. Helena location after the remodel. The young people working the counter seem very unhappy and need some customer service training. While waiting in line, she dropped the baguette bag on the floor, proceeded to pick it up and shove the lady's baguette into it. The lady asked her nicely for a new baguette to which she rolled her eyes and asked her coworker to take over. I, too, had an issue and had to get the manager involved to get a small refund. It was a small refund but it was the principal of the matter. To the unhappy young lady working in a predominantly tourist town, Six Flags is hiring and you might be happier there. We'll stick to our local Napa location where we go weekly to get our bread and are treated with lots of smiles and the best customer service. Bakery is good but the service is lacking. Went two mornings in a row. First day we ordered breakfast sandwiches and coffee. The sandwiches were good but probably a few dollars over priced. The next day we ordered a breakfast sandwich and an English muffin. It was all good but the service was poor. When I mean poor service, there are zero smiles at Model Bakery. The folks there act like any question is a bother to them. They ran out of lids for coffee and I needed to ask 3 people and let them know that they were out before someone believed me. Model has several locations around Napa. This location is in the cute St. Helena downtown area. We found easy street parking. After taking a look at all our delicious options, settled on breakfast sandwiches. Such a good choice. Hubby got the chorizo and I got Model's original breakfast sandwich. The English muffin was SO delicious. Nice and crusty on the outside and inside was soft. Both sandwiches were awesome. Bought some English muffins to toast at home with their spread. OMG! A must! Went back to take four packages back to the east coast. You can refrigerate or freeze them. They do ship, but why pay shipping when I was there to take home. I definitely recommend coming here and trying their pastries! They have a lot of variety and you can order online to skip the line! Even when you order online to pickup, you can order some more items when you're picking up. The line is normally out the door, so definitely recommend ordering online. Just be warned that the line can get backed up when you're picking up since you can still order some more food. I had to wait a bit because the person in front of me ordered at least $80 worth of food on top of her online order. We just got the English muffins with jam, Saint Helena bacon burrito, and a side of has brown. I definitely came here to try the English muffins as Oprah gets them here and they were pretty good! Hearing from others that they may sell out of their English muffins, I called in to secure my order for 10 packs while on the road. Huge, spacious interior for a bakery! To my surprise and relief there were no customers in line. I had a lunch reservation to get to so I didn't have time to browse through their baked items, but their selection looked good. English muffins: still as delicious as I remember from a few years ago. They taste nothing like English muffins you get from McDonald's or the store bought packages. Pop them into the air fryer or toaster for a bit and you get a perfectly crispy cornmeal exterior and the fluffiest interior ever! There is a hint of salt in it so be cautious if you are adding it to something savory. I can eat it as is, with jam, or make a breakfast sammie and they all come out delicious. We ordered breakfast sandwiches at 6:55am from the Model Bakery website to be delivered 10 min away. By 7:45 still no delivery. We called to check on the order and it had been done for 10+ min and "waiting for the delivery driver". By 8:15 I called to see if it was on its way...it was still sitting there. I finally decided to drive over and pick it up myself. When I arrived at 8:30 (an hour and a half after the order was placed) I spoke with the manager to see if they could at least make fresh sandwiches. She said they couldn't as it wasn't "their fault", it was the delivery service. I'm not asking for a refund, just some fresh breakfast sandwiches that you charge $15 each for that probably cost you a couple bucks to make. Fingers were being pointed at everyone else (Toast, DoorDash, Model Bakery, etc) Good customer service would have been to make fresh sandwiches and handle your partnership with your delivery service and any food waste fees between you two. Another quick Napa get away, another bite of Oprah's fav English muffin, this time at the St Helena location. Napa is not the best place to visit if you want to stay slim. Toasted English muffin once again was perfect: made with clarify butter, hot & fluffy inside, toasted to golden crisp outside, slapped some butter on top that melted almost instantly. You can choose from a variety of jams: strawberry, apricot, rasperry. The latter was always sold out in our previous 6 trips to other locations. This time we struck gold, the rasperry jam was fresh & light in texture, came in small sauce containers instead of the usual commercial tiny packages. Chippotle pesto breakfast sandwich was very good. Using the same buttery muffin, canadian bacon was tender, egg was fluffy, but we still prefer the original sausage breakfast sandwich. We also tried the vegetarian pizza the next day, the dough was too thick & bready for my likings. Street parking was plentiful 8 am on a week day. We came up north from So cal to visit wine country. I was doing research on wineries to visit in Napa and came across this bakery that many were raving about due to the English muffins being on Oprah's favorite things. We drove from Santa Rosa where we were staying, to this location in Saint Helena. It was not crowded but I went ahead and ordered online to do a curb side pick up. Got there a little earlier than my order time so I called and they said they'd get started on it and bring it to my car. I parked in the alley on Money street. I ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches (English muffin, croissant) and 2 toasted English muffins on the side, one with raspberry preserves and the other with strawberry preserves. The sandwiches were a good size, the eggs were fluffy and the muffins tasted fresh. Not your typical Thomas English muffin but that's what made this experience worth trying. The bacon on the sandwiches was the real thick bacon not the skinny fast food kind! I also ordered a Chai latte with an add shot. The latte was pretty good, nothing special IMO. I walked inside the bakery to see it, while my husband waited in the car. While inside I ordered a bear claw and a snickerdoodle cookie. The cookie was TINY for almost 2 bucks! The bear claw was a good size and was fresh. I asked for a claw toward the bottom of the pile since a fly was flying around landing on things. The woman working there was courteous enough to listen to my request. Overall I'd say it was worth visiting while in Napa valley. Certainty a "treat" while in vacation. read more

There is a bit of a wait though because they make it to order! I also got a morning glory muffin, the flavor that day was carrot and apple! I recommend the toasted with butter! Classic! 6 packs is $14! I CAN TOTALLY SEE WHY OPRAH SHIPS THESE TO HER HOME!! They were delicious! Make sure if you're bringing some home to toast them!! I appreciate the response from the manager regarding my last review. But an apology and promise to do better is not enough to make me want me to try again. I live in town and could easily go back. But, why would I gamble on paying for another bad experience? And to top it off, being asked for a tip before I have received any service? Good or bad? We tipped...and still got terrible service. One of the finest bakeries around. I don't live in the area, but I visit a friend in Deer Park and this is one of our go-to places. Model bakery is living on the reputation of their English muffins. This Thanksgiving I ordered an apple pie and it was the worst. The apples must've been cooked first and then put in the pie and cooked again . It should've been called an applesauce pie.. Truly disappointing . And a $38 a travesty . I ordered the pie and dinner rolls a week before Thanksgiving, on the Wednesday when I went in to get the pie, the weight staff was in disarray. The counter staff were chaotic almost didn't know what they were doing. It's so sad to see that no one really trains employees anymore. Tow of the employees that were working the counter, we're actually rude to customers. Quite frankly, you can go down to buttercream bakery, in Napa and get a much better pie at half the price . We preorder a few packs of their famous, buttery, and delicious English Muffins online since they often sell out quickly. Their sausage breakfast sandwiches are amazing as well- they use the same English Muffins. If you order it toasted, it comes with a few slabs of butter and some fresh jam. I prefer it with just butter but it tastes so good with their jam. You'll still need to stand in line and check in with the cashier for your online order. We've ordered several bags of English Muffins and froze them at home. They freeze well. Just defrost and toast, good as new! read more

A cute little bakery that had a crowd of people waiting outside for their order. So, social distancing is enforced inside the bakery, but there's so much that you can do outside. They were out of spinach wraps, so I ended up getting a chicken sandwich. Another person in my group got a turkey sandwich. Chicken and turkey are both quite tasty. They did not call out our orders, so we were waiting for a while and watched other customers who came after us pick up their order. We know they didn't miss us, because one of the staff members would call out names for each orders. It was good for a quick little pick-me-up and for a takeout lunch. read more

I had to check out this place since it was on Oprah's list of her favorite places. I got here around lunch on a Thursday. The place wasn't too busy. I looked at the menu and was glad that there were things that would fill me up for lunch and decided to go with the breakfast sandwich. The bread was toasted, which added a nice touch to the sandwich because I was dreading the chewiness that comes with the muffins. The cheese was gooey just like the commercials when you separate the 2 halves of the sandwich. The flavor didn't completely blow me away, but it was nice and I was hungry so I finished the whole thing. Overall, I can see how others would like it. I'm really not sure why this place has such rave reviews, and why it's so famous. My mother-in-law loves this place, and we have another friend that wanted to make this a stop on our recent trip to Napa. I haven't a clue why. We've come here a couple times. The most recent time we tried their bread, which was decent, good, but really just average, and nothing special. There is no X factor, like how you have in your first bite of Tartine bread. There is no X factor in even the cookie we had. I guess they are supposed to be famous for their English Muffins, but we didn't get any...perhaps next time? They do have hot food items here too, like breakfast burritos, which we did order one for our friends. The breakfast burrito took a solid 15 min wait - very frustrating on our way to wine tasting. The shop is kind of dated, but not even in a cute way. The layout is a little awkward, with cafe self-serve seating in the middle, and the line forming on the opposite side of the bakery, so you have to walk through people sitting down.
