Omelette with avocado
Natalie S.

I've been here three times now and I just love the decor and the variety of coffee and tea drinks I'm a tea drinker so it's nice to have different options, matcha, chai, and more. They also have food options, one of my friends had the avocado toast with corn on top another had the omelet which comes with a large amount of avocado on the side. There is parking on the street in front and behind the store is the Gateway Shopping Center which has free parking.

I recently visited this breakfast spot on a Sunday morning with some friends, and overall, it was a great experience! The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, so it can feel a bit cramped, especially during peak hours. Also, I found it to be a bit pricey for the type of food they serve. That being said, the quality of the food definitely made up for it. I ordered Tulum Sammie (Herb-grilled muenster and mozz, two jumbo fried eggs, avocado, pesto & tomato with roasted corn, elote seasoning, cojita cheese, Mexican cream & chili pepper flakes) and it was absolutely delicious! The portion size was pretty generous and enough to share with another person. I also ordered a Cinnamon Mocha Latte which was also excellent, perfectly brewed.

If you blink, you may miss it. The windows are dark on the outside, and it's so unassuming. But it's a whole different world once inside. There are 3 different rooms, each progressively cooler than the hot main room. Soooo worth the drive for some tasty fare and yummy drinks! It's such a cool & casual spot. The food selection is creative and we can't wait to try more. The people here are welcoming and helpful in making choices. Super nice about cleaning up, even though there are self serve water, utensils, and clean up spaces. It's like you're visiting your great grandma's house in the 60's.

While The Modern Rose is every Instagram influencer's dream cafe, unfortunately the vibes did not make up for the overpriced food. Walking in, the ambience is really cute with flowers and decorations everywhere-- it's truly picture perfect. However, we ordered two coffee flights, an "avocado toast" flight, and a croissant sandwich, which totaled almost $80. The food and drinks left us pretty disappointed. First, the "coffee flights" essentially had no coffee in them... They all tasted like sweetened flavored milk, and what looked to be espresso in the bottom of each glass was really just syrup. Don't get me wrong, they tasted fine, but for $18 each for about 5 sips of flavored milk, they were absolutely not worth the price. Speaking of $18 flights, the avocado toast flight was also pretty small for the price--4 tiny slices of bread with some toppings. Finally, we ordered the Lotus Flower Bomb, but they were out of the banana bread, so we changed it to the Better Than... (a croissant with brie, blueberries, and basil). It was tasty, but again, kind of small for $12. Overall, if you're looking for an instagrammable breakfast, this might be your spot. But if you're looking for good quality and well-priced coffee and food, you might want to find somewhere else in Fort Lauderdale.

My fiancé and I have been wanting to try this place out and on one rainy early afternoon, we came all this way to finally see the hype on the drinks! They had a very extensive drink menu, from exotic teas to unique lattes, it was so hard to choose... Soooo of course they'd offer different flight combos for indecisive people such as myself! I got the Tea-se Me flight and he got the Seasonal Flight. Loved them both!!! Creamy London was my favorite from my bunch and Banana Chai was his. I definitely know what drink to reorder next time! Figured we couldn't just fill our stomachs with only liquids so we ordered food too! I got the Lotus Flower Toast while he got the French Bruschetta. Both were reeeeally good. Honestly, I would rate this place a 4.5 but Yelp doesn't have half ratings. It was only 0.5 shy away from five stars because when we arrived to the front, the person tending definitely saw us and ignored us and was even doing things by the register without acknowledging us until he was ready to ring us up. Imagine getting excited to try something and someone who works there misrepresents the vibe of the restaurant. Yikes. But not everyone was like him and perhaps he was having an off day, so I won't let his lack of presence affect my rating greatly. Also, I asked for scrambled eggs and it didn't come out scrambled. No biggie, still edible lol. And the scone was alright. It was too hard and too dry (I'm aware scones are a little dry nonetheless but this one tasted drier than usual). So despite these shortcomings, the food and drinks outshone the negatives! I'd come back to try the other drinks and the rest of the menu! Just know it's a VERY small place. Not the kind of spot to have a big group brunch. So bring a partner for an intimate brunch!

I had previously visited the modern rose at their location in Deerfield Beach. I was so happy when I found out they would be in FTL! This was the first time I visited this location. The environment was unique as the original location. A harmonious eclectic decoration. It makes it so unique and quant. It's like going to your grandmothers house but also like entering an enchanting land of mystery. I feel that everywhere I look there is a small surprise. The service is always very good. The people working there are very friendly and always helpful when ordering. The coffee is so good! And I got to try one of their salads in this occasion. I was so pleasantly surprised how good it was! I always feel salads are hard to make them have an impression haha. It was so yummy though! Some lovely ladies were there with me doing a small baby shower for my baby to come. It was the perfect place for such a lovely evening. I totally recommend this place!

This place was so cute, very eclectic but TINYYYYY! We barely had room to even stand in line so as cute as it was, we didn't get to enjoy the environment very much and took our drinks to go. I had the Lavender Latte and my fiance had a Churro Cold Brew. I love trying lavender anywhere I go and it was up to par. He RAVED about his cold brew and nearly chugged it. Apparently, they're opening up one soon near me in St. Augustine? Hopefully soon? And hopefully more spacious!

Match Latta

I was excited to try this place out. I got there Sunday around 12:30pm to grab a Match Latta and avocado toast, but when we go there they had a sign up stated that the kitchen was close due to not having enough food supplies. I was very disappointed, so we decided to order a Match Latta and my bf ordered a black coffee. We were able to try the beef empanada which was okay. Ambiance was unique and cute. I may come back because I still would like to try the food here. Overall, everyone was nice and offered other options such as pastries or empanadas.

This review is from the Yelp experience from Nov 2023 when they weee gracious to host us! First off, everything in here is just so beautiful and definitely picture worthy. Staff is so friendly, relaxed, professional, and made me feel welcome. I'm not a big coffeee drinker so I'm happy they had a variety of teas to enjoy. I had the tea-se me flight: Dragon tea- reminded me of a hibiscus tea, refreshing and not too sweet Mermaid latte- I love cinnamon so I liked this one. I couldn't place the flavors Creamy London- creamy as the name suggests, a delicious lavender forward drink. This one was my favorite! Blue Maui-very easily drinkable and refreshing. I ordered an artichoke and kale empanada- pretty solid flavor. They toasted it and brought it straight out to me. The dough is a little chewy but the filings were tasty. I also ordered a freshly made sandwich- great flavors, toasted bread, really nice way to start the day. The music was great. Singable oldies, and played at the perfect volume. Would definitely recommend for a coffee or tea break, or to spend some time and get work done when you're in the area!

What a cool place! I had the szn3 Flight - BlueEyes, Churro ColdBrew, Náuti-Mermaid and #RoccoStrong. Their menu has a ton of cool sounding beverages so I recommend the flight so you're not committed to one. While I enjoyed drinking all 4, the churro cold brew was my favorite. Such a great idea! The mozzarella, tomato, mozzarella, avocado toast, balsamic drizzle was DELICIOUS! Can I make this at home? Yes, it's not rocket science. But ain't nobody got time to buy all those ingredients for one toast unless you want to eat it all week. So nah I'll just buy it here. The ambiance is as if you're having afternoon tea at someone's grandmas house who was determined to clutter her attic with roses (no seriously The floor creaks like you're walking through an attic) The sit down areas are all very different type of tables and chairs. Fortunately it wasn't crowded there's maybe like 2-3 actual tables with enough room for food. Very very unique and nostalgic. I'd return

This review is for the Ft Lauderdale location as I have been to Deerfield Beach and I enjoy that location. This location is in an out of the way location that is not too far from the Galleria. It is difficult to find as the storefront is not that conspicuous. The interior has the potential to be warm and comforting as the Deerfield Beach one but as of now it does not have the same ambience. Hopefully that will change as we noticed another small area that has not opened. The menu is very creative. It is difficult to choose what you want but it seems no matter what you get you will not be disappointed. I ordered CBR. Chopped chicken, bacon and ranch dressing on a flatbread. It was crunchy and tasty. I have had the grilled cheese sandwiches previously and they were equally good. Hubby enjoyed his Marcia Sammy. What is not to like when turkey is combined with roasted red pepper and Brie. The ladies at the counter were marvelous as we wanted our drinks modified, (less sweet) which they were happy to do. Overall the experience was enjoyable.

Located in the Gateway Shopping Center in Ft. Lauderdale, this cute coffee/tea shop is a great little breakfast or lunch find. There is pay by mobile app parking in the front and supposed to be parking behind the center but we didn't use so I can't confirm. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. You order at the counter and they bring to you as each item is ready. We got the Avo toast flight since we couldn't decide on one to try. It's hard to pick a favorite but if I had to pick two, I'd probably go with the Venetian (prosciutto, mozzarella, balsamic) and the Some Like it Spicy (think elotes). All were good with amazing bread that held up well while we took our time trying each one. Definitely looking forward to trying their new location in Hollywood that should be opening in December. Plenty more flight options to tackle, think breakfast/lunch tapas!!

Modern Panini
Aliza K.

I wish I could give this place more stars, but last time I went the bread was not fresh and was stale, it really just simply was not good and made the panini very basic. This place is soooo cute and I really do love it! However I would suggest them to tone down the rose fragrance, it has such a strong smell that kinda ruins the vibe and atmosphere. They do have an extensive list of food and drinks which is awesome! It is also simply just soooo cute, such great decor and really feels homey. I will give this place another try!

We quickly decided what we wanted to order, and then patiently waited for our food. Much to our surprise they had singers in the restaurant! Forbes serenaded us a few times and then, Alana belted it out some Disney Tunes! Both of their voices were incredible and it was a nice treat. The food arrived, and it was scrumptious! No way this stuff wasn't pre-made a while ago. Oh yeah, part of a banana and one strawberry. Despite what the waiter said, I could tell everything was pre-made. It's about the same quality as the free "continental breakfast" most cheap hotels offer except at the hotel it's still warm and you get refills on coffee and the waffle is freshly made and hot enough to melt butter. No free refills on coffee here unless you buy their "pour over," and then you get one small refill. The strainer for the coffee was stained and filthy when it was brought out, so they're not using fresh ones or even cleaning thoroughly between uses. GF had a meatless omelet and a smoothie. Her omelet was hot so obviously it was made fresh unlike mine. I told the waiter my food was cold and he swore he saw them "take it out of the oven," but nothing I ordered would be cooked in any over other than a microwave oven. Total bill for two: $60+. This was with a 30% discount on my plate for my food being served cold. Honestly you'll have a better, fresher meal at IHOP or Waffle House or Denny's, for a fraction of the price and you'll get coffee refills.

Super cute & funny beaded purses and specialty food items. We met the owner Lisa and she was so nice! We're dairy-free and we asked which lattes can be made dairy-free (no cow's milk) and she said anything on the menu can be made with oat or almond milk. Even a cold foam she can make with dairy-free milk. I was so surprised by that since most other places have significantly less options when going dairy-free, like cold foam can typically only be made with heavy cream at other cafes. She said she makes everything herself so she can customize it however we want. I was so impressed with that! We went with an iced Mocha Lisa which has white chocolate and pistachio. This is a specialty latte named after the owner herself as it's some of her favorite flavors. We got it with oat milk. There are three sizes, the larger size comes with 3 shots of espresso while the other two have 2 shots. Also appreciate that as at most other coffee shops, a larger size typically just means more milk but the same amount of espresso. The presentation of the drink was stunning, she topped it with crushed pistachios. It was so delicious! They have so many other delicious-sounding lattes on their menu, I was eyeing their honey cinnamon latte, whipped brown sugar latte, or their seasonal blueberry muffin matcha. Such unique flavors! I wish I was in town longer so I could come here daily to try all of them. I also got some chocolate covered pistachio-filled dates that I'm so excited to try. Yum! We ordered the Surf's Up Spinach Artichoke Dip, Make Waves Avocado Toast, Beach Burger, and Think Pink Margarita. Do not order the Dip. Our waitress said that it was the most popular app, but it's not worth it. The chips were too greasy, and the dip was hard and comes in a tin.. The avocado toast was okay, it came with too much arugula. I took out most of it. My brother said the burger was good. The margaritas were probably the best part. The salty rim contrasted the sweet taste. The cake pops were dessert. They were okay too, nothing special. To wrap up, if you want to take cute pics and can afford it, then do it. You'll have fun!
