The combination of an old European-inspired atmosphere with old semi-nude paintings in thick bronze frames and abundant flowers creates a unique and tranquil ambiance. The Victorian-style furniture adds a touch of elegance, making it the perfect setting to enjoy my double espresso. The coffee shop's offerings, including fresh fruit platters, small sandwiches, and pastries, along with a diverse specialty drink menu and several vegan options too, sound like they complement the setting wonderfully. It seems like the place does a great job of fostering a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, with happy customers enjoying their time amidst the beautiful surroundings. It's nice to see that such a peaceful retreat has made its mark not only in Fort Lauderdale after opening only one year ago, but also with locations in Hollywood and Deerfield. Already tried the food at the Hollywood location during a recent Yelp Elite function and provided large portions at very reasonable prices. We've been to their Deerfield location many times and also to their Hollywood location, as well. We were in the area and decided to check out this branch as we've enjoyed their other places. We pulled into the Gateway Plaza and parked but didn't see the restaurant right away. We finally found it by walking through an alleyway onto 20th street. Aha! So, since there's paid parking (meters) on 20th, you might want to do the same as we did. Parking in the Gateway is free. This location seems much smaller than either Deerfield or Hollywood, but I found out later that there is a back room that I missed entirely when we visited. The decor is equally eclectic and charming with signs and paintings and wall hangings, etc. and of course, flowers. Each time you'll discover something new. We were familiar with their menu but decided to try one thing different than we'd tried before. Their avocado toasts are priced one slice or two slices. We decided to share. We got a full order of their "just keep swimming" which we've enjoyed before. This is their avocado toast (with halved cherry tomatoes and everything seasoning) topped with smoked salmon. And we added a slice of their Venetian avocado toast which has added prosciutto and adorable tiny mozzarella balls -- all topped with balsamic glaze. Loved them both so now it will be even harder to choose in the future. For drinks my husband got his favorite vanilla chai latte with added espresso coffee. The "chai" gives it a distinctive flavor. I just enjoyed an iced decaf American coffee which I got deconstructed and doctored to my taste. This is such a relaxing venue, that I can see folks wanting to stay and linger. I imagine that they are quite popular and get as crowded as their other locations. Prices are not inexpensive, but we didn't mind a bit. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, so it can feel a bit cramped, especially during peak hours. Also, I found it to be a bit pricey for the type of food they serve. If you blink, you may miss it. The windows are dark on the outside, and it's so unassuming. But it's a whole different world once inside. There are 3 different rooms, each progressively cooler than the hot main room. Soooo worth the drive for some tasty fare and yummy drinks! It's such a cool & casual spot. While The Modern Rose is every Instagram influencer's dream cafe, unfortunately the vibes did not make up for the overpriced food. Walking in, the ambience is really cute with flowers and decorations everywhere-- it's truly picture perfect. However, we ordered two coffee flights, an "avocado toast" flight, and a croissant sandwich, which totaled almost $80. The food and drinks left us pretty disappointed. First, the "coffee flights" essentially had no coffee in them... They all tasted like sweetened flavored milk, and what looked to be espresso in the bottom of each glass was really just syrup. Don't get me wrong, they tasted fine, but for $18 each for about 5 sips of flavored milk, they were absolutely not worth the price. Speaking of $18 flights, the avocado toast flight was also pretty small for the price--4 tiny slices of bread with some toppings. Finally, we ordered the Lotus Flower Bomb, but they were out of the banana bread, so we changed it to the Better Than... (a croissant with brie, blueberries, and basil). It was tasty, but again, kind of small for $12. Overall, if you're looking for an instagrammable breakfast, this might be your spot. But if you're looking for good quality and well-priced coffee and food, you might want to find somewhere else in Fort Lauderdale. read more

My fiancé and I have been wanting to try this place out and on one rainy early afternoon, we came all this way to finally see the hype on the drinks! They had a very extensive drink menu, from exotic teas to unique lattes, it was so hard to choose... Soooo of course they'd offer different flight combos for indecisive people such as myself! I got the Tea-se Me flight and he got the Seasonal Flight. Loved them both!!! Creamy London was my favorite from my bunch and Banana Chai was his. I definitely know what drink to reorder next time! Figured we couldn't just fill our stomachs with only liquids so we ordered food too! I got the Lotus Flower Toast while he got the French Bruschetta. Both were reeeeally good. Honestly, I would rate this place a 4.5 but Yelp doesn't have half ratings. It was only 0.5 shy away from five stars because when we arrived to the front, the person tending definitely saw us and ignored us and was even doing things by the register without acknowledging us until he was ready to ring us up. Imagine getting excited to try something and someone who works there misrepresents the vibe of the restaurant. Yikes. But not everyone was like him and perhaps he was having an off day, so I won't let his lack of presence affect my rating greatly. Also, I asked for scrambled eggs and it didn't come out scrambled. No biggie, still edible lol. And the scone was alright. It was too hard and too dry (I'm aware scones are a little dry nonetheless but this one tasted drier than usual). So despite these shortcomings, the food and drinks outshone the negatives! I'd come back to try the other drinks and the rest of the menu! Just know it's a VERY small place. I had previously visited the modern rose at their location in Deerfield Beach. I was so happy when I found out they would be in FTL! This was the first time I visited this location. The environment was unique as the original location. A harmonious eclectic decoration. It makes it so unique and quant. It's like going to your grandmothers house but also like entering an enchanting land of mystery. I feel that everywhere I look there is a small surprise. The service is always very good. The people working there are very friendly and always helpful when ordering. The coffee is so good! And I got to try one of their salads in this occasion. I got there Sunday around 12:30pm to grab a Match Latta and avocado toast, but when we go there they had a sign up stated that the kitchen was close due to not having enough food supplies. Their menu has a ton of cool sounding beverages so I recommend the flight so you're not committed to one. While I enjoyed drinking all 4, the churro cold brew was my favorite. Such a great idea! The mozzarella, tomato, mozzarella, avocado toast, balsamic drizzle was DELICIOUS! Can I make this at home? Yes, it's not rocket science. This review is for the Ft Lauderdale location as I have been to Deerfield Beach and I enjoy that location. This location is in an out of the way location that is not too far from the Galleria. It is difficult to find as the storefront is not that conspicuous. The interior has the potential to be warm and comforting as the Deerfield Beach one but as of now it does not have the same ambience. Hopefully that will change as we noticed another small area that has not opened. The menu is very creative. It is difficult to choose what you want but it seems no matter what you get you will not be disappointed. I ordered CBR. Chopped chicken, bacon and ranch dressing on a flatbread. It was crunchy and tasty. I have had the grilled cheese sandwiches previously and they were equally good. Hubby enjoyed his Marcia Sammy. Located in the Gateway Shopping Center in Ft. Lauderdale, this cute coffee/tea shop is a great little breakfast or lunch find. There is pay by mobile app parking in the front and supposed to be parking behind the center but we didn't use so I can't confirm. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. You order at the counter and they bring to you as each item is ready. We got the Avo toast flight since we couldn't decide on one to try. It's hard to pick a favorite but if I had to pick two, I'd probably go with the Venetian (prosciutto, mozzarella, balsamic) and the Some Like it Spicy (think elotes). I have seen this place all over instagram and have been wanting to go for quite some time and finally got the opportunity to go. This place is divided in 3 separate parts with 3 different entrances. It is an absolutely beautiful location with a very unique aesthetic. It is scattered with a lot of seating throughout the whole place that heavily resembles a home! Lots of picture frames and vintage furniture and such. The service was generally okay, nothing super crazy but they were able to find us despite us being in an entirely different room and were joyful when giving us our beverages. We got the mermaid latte and a dragon tea, we got the dragon tea hot and the mermaid latte iced. The mugs for our beverages were so fun and I definitely enjoyed it. Such a cute themed cafe! I had heard about their coffee flights from a friend and I couldn't wait to go in and try it myself. We found parking on the street right outside the cafe right away. We were able to order as soon as we walked in and found fun seating shortly after. We only waited maybe 5 minutes before our drinks and food came out. Great service! We ordered the signature coffee flight with the lavender latte, flirty chai latte, cinnamon mocha latte, and the caramel macchiato. My fiancé and I tried each one and I decided that I loved the cinnamon mocha the most but the lavender latte was a close second. I enjoyed the caramel macchiato but it was definitely his favorite. His second favorite was the cinnamon mocha latte. Neither of us really enjoyed the flirty chai latte but it was fun to try them all! They were all very cute too. Decided to head over to the new Modern Rose location for lunch today. The location is really convenient to downtown Fort Lauderdale. There is street parking out front but if you go to the west side of the plaza there is a large parking lot. The place is very eclectic just like the other location but much smaller. There is seating for around 15 people total. It was packed when I got there so I decided on takeout. I ordered my favorite Dragon Tea (white tea infused with dragonfruit and lemonade) and a Tuscan Sammie (greens, prosciutto, truffle balsamic glaze, mozzarella and roasted red peppers on a butter croissant). The Sammie was really delicious. The flavors of the red peppers, mozzarella and the glaze go very well together. I would have liked a little more prosciutto. There only seemed to be one piece so I ate almost half the sandwich without prosciutto. This location offers flights of avocado toast, tea and coffee which I want to try when I have more time. I am a big fan of Modern Rose. I've been to all 3 of their locations (Deerfield, Ft. Lauderdale & Hollywood). I have had several menu items so will describe my thoughts on all: - avocado toast- I've had the modern avocado toast, some like it spicy, just keep swimming, summer in Venice, and the Venetian and I like them all. Their avocado toasts are actually my fave food of theirs. My favorite out of them is some like it spicy, 2nd favorite is the summer in venice. - Lotus Flower Bomb - while I love banana bread, I was skeptical to get this bc I do not like cookie butter and was worried the cookie butter would be overpowering. I was wrong. It's perfectly balanced, sweet w/o being too sweet, and the banana bread is so moist and delicious, and it's topped with bruleed bananas. It's served with two eggs. It's amazing. Get it. - Modern Egg sandwich - it's an egg and cheese sandwich. It's ok. - Tulum Sammie - sooooo good! It basically tastes like a mix of some like it spicy avocado toast and an egg sandwich. - Tuscan sammie- this sounded better than it actually was. It was ok. I wouldn't get again. Got to come back and show this place to a friend! I've tried the churro cold brew & the vanilla dirty chai and they're both delicious. This last visit I got the banana chai and was not disappointed in both flavor & size (I got a large). We also shared the summer in Venice avocado toast which great to share between the two of us. I was hesitant to mix berries with avocado but everything else also tied it all together and made it a great symphony of flavors. This place is so uniquely decorated with gorgeous vintage decor & furniture with lovely Instagram worthy backdrops. I had visited the Deerfield beach location a few times and was over the moon when I discovered they had opened this much closer location. The food quality held up just as good. Not just good, excellent. I've visited twice since and every latte, breakfast dish or pastry I've tried has been nothing short of delicious. It's a bit of a shock when you walk in. The furniture and decor are all different designs and colors that pop. It's all very different, but comes together nicely in a fun and unique way. It's the perfect place to snap some cute pics for Instagram while also having a top notch breakfast. This remains one of my go-to places to take friends and family that visit, I couldn't recommend it more! The Modern Rose started as a vintage tea boutique in The Cove Shopping Center in Deerfield Beach. Christine, the store's original owner, moved to Georgia and sold the business to the current owners Jimena and Emilio Dominguez who have since added coffee from local roaster Calusa Coffee and light bites to the menu. They are now expanding the business out to other coffee shops and even restaurants. I have visited various incarnations of the Modern Rose at the food hall Delray Beach Market (now closed), Cleopatra's Coffee in Ft. Lauderdale at Art Outfitters, and their original Cove shop. I learned about the Modern Rose in Victoria Park when I was invited to a baby shower. There isn't much signage outside. According to the sign that still hangs overhead, this was formerly Magnificent Lash Art. You would have to know it is here to find it. Inside is three rooms decked out in their signature vintage Victorian thrift store vibe. The main room where you order is large but the other two rooms in an L shape are cramped. Inside are a number of great photo ops set up making it ideal for a shower or a girlfriends lunch. The menu features inventive coffee and tea rinks with natural sweeteners and a modern brunch menu with a Latin twist. While I love their cozy ambiance I have had the same problem at more than one location. They all have tiny kitchens that can't service the number of people who want to eat there. I ordered a Mermaid Latte made with coconut infused organic white and butterfly pea tea with melted honey and coconut milk. The drink was pretty and to their credit it was served quickly but things went awry when I also ordered the $15 Cobblestone salad with mixed greens, grilled chicken, corn, bacon, cotija cheese, and ranch dressing. It was not an inexpensive salad and it took forever to arrive. At one point I tried to cancel it. By the time I finally got my meal the people in my party were ready to leave. I wish the Modern Rose would invest more into their kitchen so they can better meet customers needs when it comes to food. It was also extremely hot and stuffy inside with no air conditioning in the cramped hallway room where we were seated. Thank you Marry Ann for hosting a beautiful shower. The Modern Rose was beyond wonderful as a venue for a baby shower! We were so happy to celebrate our baby Yelp Elite. Brenda R. Is having a baby girl in May and the Modern Rose was just perfect from the Lavender latte to the delicious salads. The staff were super kind and helpful. I will be coming back here for birthdays, wedding showers, and of course more baby showers. I will probably stop in when I'm in the area just for another lavender latte. Everywhere you turned, there was another place that you could sit. It is so sweetly decorated that us Elites could not stop taking pictures! Quaint and yummy! The place itself is adorable. It kind of reminds me of a tea room. We had a coffee flight that was delicious. However, it was cold coffee and also juice. Very pretty to look at and tasty. We had blueberry lemon scones that were delicious. Not too sweet. I also ordered the avocado toast. The original one, I don't remember the name . But it was really good! I think the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the service. They were very busy and let everyone know ahead of time that food would take time. Which was perfectly acceptable! But the server wasn't very nice. We asked for water and she only gave us one and then asked for a fork, and again, only one. Came back since the yelp event and I can say I am still amused with these flights! I love the idea. If you can't decide between bitter or sweet coffee , you can get all your buds with one tray. Their breakfast sandwich is also a hit. Last time I went with the Becky which was bacon and eggs on a cabiatta. The atmosphere is modern like the name. It feels like you are in a different time. Cozy brunch spot with friends. As you enter you are surrounded by a Christmas/ chic decoration. Definitely look over the menu and decide what you would like to eat. and drink. I was excited to try their coffee flights !!! What other way to enjoy different flavors of coffee if you are a coffee lover like myself. They also have tea flights for you tea lovers ! I was so happy with my choice. I tried the modern egg pizza which is warm flatbread, layered by mozzarella, fried eggs, pesto, tomato, basil, and prosciutto on top with balsamic glaze. It was very satisfying. For coffee flights I chose the Signature Flight with a selection of lavender latte, flirty chai, cinnamon mocha and caramel macchiato. It was a great balance of coffee, unique flavor, and sweetness. I loved the vintage decor, the floral patterns and the different areas to sit. you can sit on a sofa, or there was a small, two seat, office table or a big kitchen dining table. In the back of one of the rooms, there is a floral arch to take nice pictures. there are about three rooms with seating. It is not big, but it's very cozy. As a sweet treat I enjoyed their macaroons! Cute coffee shop. It was busy when we went Saturday morning. We had walked all this way with our 2 dogs so we were looking forward to outdoor seating. The "terrace" had to be opened and it's not adjoining to the restaurant which was awkward. My boyfriend ordered and he said they would take the food to us. It took a bit for the food to get to us but the coffee was good. The food was good. I had a breakfast sandwich. Would like to try some of their other options and would love to go on a less chaotic day. read more
