There's always something new to explore, and Myth & Legend did not disappoint. It was actually recommended to us by another restaurant we were visiting, and we're so glad we stopped in. Their menu features one of the most creative selections of handcrafted coffees and matcha drinks I've ever seen. I ordered the peanut butter cold foam coffee topped with freeze-dried strawberries, and it tasted exactly like a PB&J sandwich in the best possible way. It was absolutely incredible. The atmosphere was welcoming, the drinks were thoughtfully crafted, and you can tell a lot of creativity goes into everything they do. This coffee shop was such a pleasant stop. The space is beautifully lit thanks to the large storefront-style windows that let the sunlight pour in, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of place that feels cozy but also open and airy at the same time. The coffee was delicious and well made. I originally wanted to try their heated cheddar bagel, but unfortunately their oven was broken that day. Even so, I decided to try it untoasted and it still tasted great! The flavor was really good and it paired nicely with the coffee. Overall, it's a lovely spot to sit and enjoy a drink, especially with all that natural light coming through the windows. The location is beautifully decorated. However, we both got a coffee and we actually threw it away after we walked out. But to be fair, it could be just be our taste buds. I can see why people would sit in that location and just have a chill moment. But as for the taste, it's just not a bit of us, however, to be fair we like stronger coffee. The barista when we mentioned other places of coffee shops, she was kind of irritated and snobby about them. She said their coffee was the best and that we would never have to look any further. We thought what a bold thing to say and look forward to such a statement. I am more than positive that people love this location. They're probably the people that like a lighter coffee. I however don't. I do love the vibe in there. I love how they decorated it. It just is a place I would love to be. So if you like that type of coffee, this is definitely the place you need to be. Okay, like other reviews have said, the atmosphere is very nice, and my coffee and food were delicious. But it took over 30 minutes to get my group of 5 all of our drinks and food - and the store was not busy. I would have assumed that a popular coffee shop in a tourist town would be able to handle a simple 5 person group (5 coffees, 4 sandwiches) without being stressed out, but unfortunately that was not the case. The 2 staff members were kind enough, definitely not rude, but I think this location was just unfortunately understaffed. To be efficient, this place needs at LEAST 3 staff members. The poor sweet girl was running from register to the espresso machine back and forth. Both staff DID seem like they didn't really know what was going on, as multiple times they were questioning each other on menu offerings and ingredients for both food and coffee. Again, I think they were both kind (though erring on the side of aloof), and the issues presented seem like a staffing/management issue. Delicious coffee though! read more

I'm always on the lookout for new coffee shops. While spending the weekend in St. Augustine, I stumbled upon this one night when it was closed. I knew I had to return the next morning to check it out. It seems they've only been open for about two months now. I absolutely love the decor here. The ambiance and artwork evoke a slightly older era with a military and pioneering flair--some might even call it legendary. The drink I ordered, "The Genovar," perfectly fit the theme. To fully appreciate this drink, I recommend asking for it in a "for here" glass rather than a to-go cup; it made all the difference for me. The two ladies at the counter were very helpful with my numerous questions about the menu. My wife ordered the light roast pour-over coffee, and we went with the barista's recommendation for which coffee to use, which was very helpful. The only downside is that this place is 45 minutes from my house. I'll be thinking about "The Genovar" for a while. After some research, I found out that the drink is named after a nearby street "I think". The menu also features many other drinks with intriguing names. read more

We're visiting St. Augustine from South Florida for my dad's birthday and stopped into this coffee shop hoping for a nice pick-me-up before the day ended. Unfortunately, the experience left a really bad taste in our mouths. We walked in and asked if they were still open since the place was completely empty. The young woman at the counter replied that they closed in 30 minutes--but with an attitude that immediately made us feel unwelcome. When we stepped up to order, she offered the briefest smile (if you could even call it that) before her face went completely blank again, like we were inconveniencing her just by being there. My stepmom politely asked if she could order a frozen coffee, and the response was a flat, "Not right now," despite a fully functional blender sitting right behind her. I get it--maybe they'd already shut things down early to close on time--but it's not our fault for coming in while you're still technically open. Especially in a city like St. Augustine, where tourism keeps places like this in business, you'd think basic customer service would be a given. It's not that we expected over-the-top hospitality--just a little effort, a smile, or even a polite explanation. Instead, we felt like a nuisance for simply walking in. We've come in a few times excited to try the coffee specials, but every time we've been grossed out by staff making the coffee and never got one. This place obviously needs to train employees or at least have a manager to oversee. The first time, the young woman at the register didn't know their specialty drink they were serving all month. She asked her coworker who had a long mane of hair not pulled back and an oversized sippy cup she was sucking on. She approached with foam all over her lips. While explaining the drink she kept trying to wipe the foam away but it kept migrating until it made its way up her nose. You had to be there to understand how off-putting this really was. Tried another day and the same girl's long hair was falling in the drinks she was making people ahead of us. Third day we were excited to see two new staff. But they're eating some crumbs on the counter. Are the staff all just feasting all day? They had long sleeves down to their fingertips. I asked the guy who makes the drinks about a coffee drink. He looked like he rolled out of bed in his oversized sweatshirt, short gym shorts and slipper shoes over socks. He started picking at his nose while explaining the drink then stuck that same finger inside my cup. I left without a drink again. This is a cute coffee spot ruined by lack of hygiene and training. It's simple. Know your drinks. Don't eat in front of customers. Tie your hair back. Wear something more professional. read more
