Wow! I can't say enough about this restaurant! We were visiting family in the area and because we saw a huge sign for mofongo we had to stop in! Jose, the owner gave us a run down of the business, where they started and how they recently renovated the inside of the restaurant to level up and match their quality of food. He definitely was right about the quality of his food! Outstanding- from the apps we ordered, yuca fries and cornmeal sticks with the delicious sauces to our entrees with mofongo. Wow, this place was absolutely amazing. First off, very nice to have smiling hostesses greet you as you enter the restaurant. They have a hot counter with all sorts of chicken, pork and beef along with a number of different side dishes. Everything at the counter looked fresh and delicious. You can order from the menu if you like and we chose that option as we wanted to try the mofongo. My better half had the churassco and I had the pernile, both with the mofongo. She told me about their takeout kind of deal 8.99 for 1 meat and 11.99 for 2. I ended up getting the ribs and paid the extra for the pork. I got yellow rice with plantains and I was able to get a taste of the sweet potato. I also bought a piece of cheese flan for 6 dollars. I ate half of my meal. Food was good. In short: Delicious, authentic Puerto Rican food in PSL! With a claim name like this, how could I not try them. We ordered through yelp and the food was delivered faster than expected! I ordered the mofongo con Pernil. The pernil was scrumptious, not dry, not too salty, and the perfect amount of fat. I planned on eating half and the remainder would be for the next day but I found myself picking at the pork while driving haha! Now, the mofongo... he is truly the king and he earned his crown! The perfect blend of sweet/salty and even smooth and buttery. Some people make it too dry, this was not the case here! Do not eat here and not try the mofongo! I also ordered an empanadilla de pollo and alcapurria de carne. The empanadilla was good but the Alcapurria stole the show.
