I visited this place with a friend last week on the recommendation of a bus driver from Puerto Rico, who said this food was pretty authentic. I'd never had Puerto Rican food before, but I genuinely enjoyed all of the dishes we ordered. The tostones were fantastic, and now I'm a firm believer that more restaurants in the states should serve them. The empanada and tripleta were also great. But don't take it from me, here's what my friend, who lived in Puerto Rico for more than a year, had to say: "Amazing Tripleta and great tostones and mofongo. We also got a good pizza empanadilla. And they even had Pan Sabao--their classic bakery bread!! Overall great quality and friendly service. Absolutely loved the lighted bandera (flag) and all the fun PR decorations."

First impression when I walked in , feels like I'm in the island the decor, music and food. The food is full of flavor feels like mom cooked this meal the mofongo wasn't dry it was so good . Portions are for one person. They won't be anything left to take home .

Walking into their restaurant is like walking in Old San Juan! The memorabilia, the sounds of Coqui in the background and Marc Anthony singing to you while you hangout waiting for your food is just a great vibe. Then there is the food! Bacalaitos for $3.00 that are huge, tasty and made fresh. All of the food on the menu is priced very well. When you get your food, there is just so much of it! The flavor and the taste is what makes you remember being home in Puerto Rico. We drove all the way from Pembroke Pines to eat here. I'd make the drive again, the food was so good. To those of of you in West Palm, take advantage and visit El Mata Munchies. It so worth it!

Feels like I'm back in PR at a favorite local spot. Can't miss the connection to the Puerto Rican people here. Music, food, beer, and pool tables. The people are friendly (and they speak English and Spanish). The BEST part is the food!!!!! Incredible, Delicious, and taste just like my family made it. This is a must visit if you ever wanted to try, taste, or enjoy Puerto Rican food in West Palm Beach, FL.

5 stars - I had this placed Saved on my "Go to Try" places. Came here on a Sunday and it wasn't full because it was 1 hr before closing time. But there was still plenty customers, so I can only imagine on a busy Friday or Saturday. I love the atmosphere and the vibe at this place. They did a pretty good job with the PR theme! The music, the pool tables, domino table, and airplane seats makes you feel like you're in a restaurant in PR! The food was delicious I had the Arroz con gandules, sweet plantain and pernil it was ! My girl got the "Costilla de Res" with Arroz con gandules Tostones and Guac. It was also very tasty the meat had a nice grilled taste. For appetizer we had the empanadas, hands down get the Beef one, over the chicken. Beef had cheese inside as well and was very flavorful! - $3 for ONE (a bit pricey for an empanada - 2 for $4 it's probably where I would say it's fair) but oh well. I don't make the prices. Overall very nice hidden spot in West Palm. I had driving by Military Trail so many times and didn't know about it, but I'm glad I do now! Wepa!

The front of the place. Trying hard to support my boriqua peeps, but they keep letting me down. It's 10:40 pm on a Friday night and they have NO food. C'mon man. Puñeta

Comida boricua de verdad! This place was so good. The munchiefongo was so flavorful and they are not skimpy with the toppings. We also had arroz con gandules with carne frita. The prices were very reasonable and the location itself is lively and clean. Bonus: they sold boxes of gasolina drinks from Puerto Rico. They had the latest flavor available and they're not so easy to find so I snagged a box here.

The restaurant is located in a small strip shopping center just north of the Greenwood Shopping Center on Congress Ave. in Palm Springs. We arrived at a good time as the inside is rather small. By the time we left, almost every table was full. Many people picked up take out orders throughout our meal. La Cosinita is a very busy restaurant! This was our first time trying Puerto Rican food. My husband ordered Mofongo stuffed with chicken and peppers and was very pleased with his choice. The portion size was quite generous. I ordered the Chicken de Plancha. My chicken was grilled to perfection and accompanied by plantains and black beans and rice. I enjoyed every bite. Our server checked on us several times during our meal. She was also very patient when we ordered as we weren't familiar with some of the menu items. The prices and portion sizes of our meals were a good value. This small but busy restaurant is a neighborhood gem!

The colorful décor and nostalgic touches throughout the dining room create a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels more like sharing a meal with family than dining out. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and I appreciated that they were bilingual, making everyone feel comfortable and at home. We shared the Bandeja La Casa del Mofongo con Tostones, loaded with chicharrón de puerco, chicharrón de pollo, masitas de cerdo, salami, and queso. At $22.99, the portion was incredibly generous and easily large enough to share. The meats were flavorful and well-prepared, with the pork perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy inside. The tostones were fried to perfection! If you're craving authentic Dominican cuisine , La Casa del Mofongo is definitely a place worth adding to your list.

Curious and hungry, we decided to check it out. The restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza, and I have to admit, the dark tinted windows made the place seem a little questionable at first glance. I actually got out of the car to peek inside before committing. Once I saw several people dining and enjoying themselves, we decided to give it a shot. Inside, the restaurant was tastefully decorated with a charming Dominican countryside flair. Even the bathrooms had a playful sense of humor that added character to the place. Service started off promptly, and we were seated right away with menus in hand. However, while browsing the menu, I quickly realized that despite the restaurant's name, there were very limited Puerto Rican options aside from the different varieties of mofongo. The menu was overwhelmingly Dominican cuisine, which was a bit disappointing since we specifically came looking for Puerto Rican dishes. We ordered the empanada de cangrejo to start, which was flavorful and freshly made. We also shared the mofongo with masitas fritas, and I will say the food itself was well seasoned, hearty, and satisfying. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. Our waitress lacked warmth and wasn't particularly attentive. What stood out the most was that she didn't know what sorullos or alcapurrias were, which caught me completely off guard considering we were searching for Puerto Rican cuisine. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the experience didn't fully meet our expectations. If you're looking for Dominican-style mofongo dishes, you may enjoy it. But if you're specifically craving traditional Puerto Rican cuisine, this may not quite hit the mark.

My work colleagues and I were greeted by a friendly host and sat at a table. But everything from service went down hill from there when our actual table server arrived. We were immediately greeted with "You ready", with a frowned face. We asked for water with lemon (never received) and was later served water from a pitcher (without lemons) only later to see an adjacent table served water from a picture with lemon and orange slices. Didn't make much of that. But when our waiter returned to take our order the second time, again with the same "you ready" frown faced I asked for help with the menu. I could hear her sigh so loud I wanted not to believe the feeling that we were bothering her in some way; and there was maybe only a quarter of the tables with customers. After placing our orders I asked my colleagues if they were getting the same vibe as I was from her and they both felt the same way. From my seating angle I could see this young lady server when she approached the front bar/seating area of the restaurant; which appeared to be where the other waiters all gathered when waiting. But I noticed her smiling and engaging in friendly conversation with two customers sitting at the bar. I noticed this difference from how she treated us vs these other guest throughout the entire time. With them she was smiling, engaging and not in any flirtatious way, but seemingly just being nice....being a good waiter. Clearly she was choosing NOT to be nice to us, and this bothered me internally because I did not know why. Our friendly greeter from when we arrived was seen serving another table and whose behavior was consistently friendly with everyone. So why the difference with our waiter I kept asking myself. I still gave a generous tip despite this service. It was important to me to do so, but I probably won't be back here, and this would have been a nice place to go back to with mi amor.
