Listen... I walked into Mofongo King like a normal human being and walked out like I needed a…read moreforklift. First of all, that mofongo? Built like a brick. Not a side dish a structural foundation. If there's ever a hurricane in Port St. Lucie, I'm hiding behind that thing. Garlic, flavor, soul... it tasted like somebody's abuela stood in the kitchen whispering, "Eat, mijo." The pork? Crispy, juicy, and seasoned like it just won a Grammy for Best Supporting Meat. And those pickled onions on top? They came in like backup dancers adding drama and attitude. The garlic sauce sitting on top of the mofongo like it owns the place? Elite behavior. I poured it on and immediately forgave everyone who ever wronged me. Portions? Absolutely disrespectful. I ordered lunch and accidentally secured dinner and emotional support leftovers. Service was on point, food came out hot, and the aroma alone probably raised property values in the plaza. If you leave hungry, that's on you. If you leave without a food coma, you did it wrong. Mofongo King isn't just a name it's a warning.

The place is a casual neighborhood place, service was great!! The staff sang happy bday and gave a nice piece of delicious flan cheesecake. Portions are generous, fresh & hot. Overall a good time, we will be back!

However, the moment you walk in the door you know that the correct decision was made and you MUST get a table. The aroma of steak and pork grabs your olfactory senses and whets your appetite. Then you notice how every single table is occupied by very happy diners and it's not even a decision to not wait your turn. We only had to cool our heels maybe 10 minutes before we were seated and we both got the Mofongo, which is a plantain-pork amalgamation of flavor and fun. Paired with your favorite meat, it's a winner. The staff is fun, knowledgeable, and they serve up the fare FAST. We ate every bite. La Casa Mofongo is THE place for Dominican food. Worthy of a return to try something new.

Curious and hungry, we decided to check it out. The restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza, and I have to admit, the dark tinted windows made the place seem a little questionable at first glance. I actually got out of the car to peek inside before committing. Once I saw several people dining and enjoying themselves, we decided to give it a shot. Inside, the restaurant was tastefully decorated with a charming Dominican countryside flair. Even the bathrooms had a playful sense of humor that added character to the place. Service started off promptly, and we were seated right away with menus in hand. However, while browsing the menu, I quickly realized that despite the restaurant's name, there were very limited Puerto Rican options aside from the different varieties of mofongo. The menu was overwhelmingly Dominican cuisine, which was a bit disappointing since we specifically came looking for Puerto Rican dishes. We ordered the empanada de cangrejo to start, which was flavorful and freshly made. We also shared the mofongo with masitas fritas, and I will say the food itself was well seasoned, hearty, and satisfying. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. Our waitress lacked warmth and wasn't particularly attentive. What stood out the most was that she didn't know what sorullos or alcapurrias were, which caught me completely off guard considering we were searching for Puerto Rican cuisine. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the experience didn't fully meet our expectations. If you're looking for Dominican-style mofongo dishes, you may enjoy it. But if you're specifically craving traditional Puerto Rican cuisine, this may not quite hit the mark.

Sometimes he feels like Don Quixote, the proverbial Man of La Mancha, tilting at endless windmills of mediocrity. But every now and then, after countless disappointments, he stumbles into a Shangri-la like Ven Pa' Ca Latin Food. And when he finally does, Eureka! Trumpets blare! Bells ring! Huzzah! If I spoke Spanish, this may have been a truly flawless meal. Let me tell you, the inability to speak Spanish is becoming a real hindrance in Brevard County. If only I had listened more closely in Spanish class to Señor Stanford at Melbourne High School in 1982. Sebastian, our waiter, started out slow as he didn't realize at first that I only speak English. However, he came to life once we got on the same language page. He knew the menu backwards and forwards and was on top of things. I first tried the Fried Pork (carne frita), big chunks of lightly fried pork served with tostones (fried green plantains) and rice with pigeon peas. The rice on this dish was very dry hence the 1/2-star demerit on an otherwise perfect score. The other offerings on this plate, however, were delicious. I also ordered the Churrasco a la Parilla (grilled skirt steak) rare, which came drizzled with a mouthwatering chimichurri sauce. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly, although, the star of this show was the side of Arroz Mamposteado, which was flavorful, flawlessly executed, and well worth the upcharge. Are you hungry for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine? Then slide on your zoris, moccasins, clogs, or other zapatos of choice, and walk yourself into Ven pa' Ca Latin Food. The Big Boy says, "I may not know where to find the Fountain of Youth, but I found a hidden gem of a restaurant in Malabar. Ven pa' Ca!"

The owner offered us some fresh bread baked that morning since it was our first time there. The bread was fresh, airy, and slighty sweet. A great rendition of a sweet italian loaf. The bacalaito guisado was fantastic. It had yuca, potato (yellow, white, and sweet), squash, avocado on top, as well as plaintain and of course the salted cod itself. It was well seasoned and stuck to your ribs. The empanada de pulpo had perfectly tender octopus and a superior crispy crunchy empanda shell that was the culmination of expertly crafted dough and a fry to perfection. I could not highly recommend this place more. The feel is very homey and they make you feel like one of the fam. It is only open untol 5 as it is a lunch, breakfast, or early dinner kind of place so plan accordingly. However, male sure to include it in your plans and pick up some pastries for the next day. Our Guayaba and Guayaba y queso were both to die for.

We walked in and were greeted by a very nice gentleman who treated us spectacularly. We had our pick of tables..... we were also the only ones in there. We ordered the Cuban sandwich, and the chicken plate with rice and beans. I'm going to jump right in: The black beans tasted like they'd dumped the entire cumin condiment jar in by mistake. The cuban sandwich had the wrong ingredients and was odd tasting. The chicken breast was chewy like I'd been in a microwave. And the kicker....... The rice was at least a day old and reheated. This is unacceptable. I understand maybe some things were from the day before as often black beans can be, but not every single item. Not for a restaurant. This is your one job. We quietly left most of our meal, paid our bill and left never to return. The worst part was feeling duped. The one waiter and the one cook there acted like this was a great meal cooked to order, and they'd done all this work super fast. As fast as a microwave could warm it up. Gross. I'm not sure what was happening behind the scenes but that one meal cost you return customers.
