The seaweed salad was laughable. I've never seen a restaurant stretch seaweed salad with vermicelli noodles before.

I chose this restaurant based on its high ratings, but unfortunately my experience was very different from what the reviews suggested. First, the service was disappointing. We made a reservation less than an hour before arriving, and the staff repeatedly complained about the short notice. If the restaurant does not want to accommodate reservations made the same day, then why accept them? Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like we were inconveniencing them simply by showing up for a reservation they had already accepted. The dining environment was also unpleasant. The ventilation system appeared inadequate because the entire restaurant was filled with smoke. By the end of the meal, our clothes and hair smelled strongly of grease and BBQ smoke. It was uncomfortable throughout the meal, and I honestly wondered whether the ventilation system was functioning properly. As for the food, the meat quality was far below expectations, especially considering the price. The cuts we were served did not taste fresh and lacked the flavor and quality I normally associate with Korean BBQ. Overall, the food felt mediocre and did not deliver the authentic Korean BBQ experience we were expecting. The only bright spot was the dessert selection, which was actually pretty decent. What surprised me most was the restaurant's exceptionally high rating. Based on our experience, I genuinely do not understand how it has received so many glowing reviews. Between the rude service, smoky dining room, and underwhelming food quality, I would personally rate it no higher than 3 stars at best. The online reviews created expectations that the restaurant simply did not meet. Unfortunately, this was not a place I would return to or recommend.

So many Shabu Hot Pot places in Bergen County ^^ The oldest(?) one is probably the Shaburo on Bergen Blvd. of Palisades Park, then the Garden Shabu in Little Ferry. We have been frequenting the Moon Korean BBQ & Hot Pot in Hackensack; and the menu is practically the same. The same variety of veggies lined up to be picked up; similar Korean dishes (spicy ttokbokki- rice cake, japchae, dumplings, fire rice, etc.). The ambience is the main reason we visit the Moon. Spacious. Great service. Wonderful layout of tables with enough space among the tables. The sound/noise of customers talking is spaced out due to ample space and the large tables. We only get Buffet of veggies. Weekday lunch for $20 !!! Weekend for $29 Without the unlimited meat.

There's definitely a good variety of meats and seafood here and lots to choose from. Love the sauce area, fresh greens, lots of hotpot add-ons and of course dessert (they even have make-your-own bingsu!). Servers are there to help you get/order meats if you choose bbq and you cook at your table. you may have to season your own seafood which is not a bad idea. Robot helpers can be seen on the good and they have rooms for bigger groups or for a private party. LA Galbi was flavorful and the thin pork belly was good. Service was friendly too. Overall had a great time!

I almost forgot to leave a review here! Apologies, this was back on Thanksgiving. We went to The Moon on Thanksgiving day. It was our first time back here since the business switched over from once was POC. Huge renovation and appearance looked great since the business switched over. The Buffet had it's varieties, KPOT is always a good choice to choose your individual selections. Our waiter was attentive, respectful, always came over every so often if we needed any extra meats, napkins, drinks, and more. All payments accepted, parking is available and shared within a large shopping center. I hope The Moon continues to do well and stays. It was good to try on Thanksgiving day.

I love me some hot pot, I love it. It is hot pot and Korean BBQ. The pricing is great for what you get!! The services is friendly and welcoming and attentive. The meats and vegetables and seafood were awesome. Just moved back and this will be my spot for lunch.

Worthy of being up there with some of the verrrrrry BEST Korean BBQ and Hotpot restaurants in NY and NJ ... period. If you didn't know, this was once an all you can eat restaurant named Port of Call, which we had frequented a few times. It wasn't bad, but it definitely could have used some more love. So, instead of sprucing up POC, a new restaurant sprouted from the grounds and, boy, what a nice surprise The Moon was. I'll go into the food and experience a bit later, but almost the entire interior was renovated (for the better) and it looked fantastic inside - sleek, modern, clean and very well spaced. We dropped in on what we thought was a quiet Monday morning just after they opened for lunch at 12pm and there were already plenty of customers inside. Monday? 12pm? Seriously? It definitely raised my excitement and expectations for what was to come. There are a few options diners can choose from and, to be honest, it was a bit confusing. You can either do Hotpot, K-BBQ or BOTH and there are different price points for Hotpot and K-BBQ, depending on if you want unlimited meat or not - else you pay $4.90 for each plate of meat. Bottom line, it's worth it to just go for the Full Moon, whether you're proceeding with Hotpot or K-BBQ. I've never been a huge Hotpot fan (I KNOW many are), so we did the Full Moon K-BBQ, which includes access to the buffet + unlimited meats. Since there is a 100 minute dining limit (not sure how strict they are), we went through 2 rounds of meats only, but we were well stuffed by the end. First, the buffet ---- what a change from POC. If you're here for just Hotpot, they had EVERYTHING and more! Every seafood (crabs, shrimp, octopus, etc.), meat, vegetable that has come to define what you want to order for Hotpot. They had 5-6 varieties of mushroom! Quite frankly, it was Hotpot heaven. I've been to quite a few hotpots in NYC and I had never seen so many sauces made available to diners like they had here. As for the K-BBQ meats, unfortunately, not every meat was made available during lunch, but, in no way did we feel cheated. We ordered every meat that we could get our hands on - Beef Belly, Beef Bulgogi, Beef Brisket, Pork Belly, Beef Top Blade, Marinated Chicken, Marinated Pork Rib. To sum it up, ALL DELICIOUS!!!! Especially the Beef Bulgogi and Pork Ribs ---- I probably could have just eaten those 2 all day, but since it was our 1st time, we wanted to try everything we could. Besides cooking the meat, we also threw plenty of veggies (mushrooms, zucchini, etc.) and seafood onto the grill. To be honest, I've always found K-BBQ to be so much more fun and enjoyable than Hotpot because of the cooking aspect too. OK, so I've pretty much established that the food and selection was fantastic. What about dessert??? The dessert options weren't huge, but, goodness gracious, they hit it out of the park when it came to this too. Not only did they have a soft serve machine that churned out perfect and ridiculously good soft serve ice cream, but they had a bing su (shaved ice) machine that was constantly producing shaved ice automatically. AND you can top your bing su with various fruits, toppings and red beans. Of course, what good is dessert if it doesn't taste good, right? Well, I'm not only raving about the options, but I'm raving about how good the ice cream and bing su were too. All too often, buffet ice cream is downright nasty, BUT NOT HERE. Like I said, the soft serve was delicious. In fact, it's some of the best restaurant soft serve I've ever had, PLUS you can throw your own sprinkles on it. Service was also excellent too. There were only 2 waiters tending to the 10 or so tables that were occupied, but these 2 gentlemen looked like they were into their jobs, interacting with customers and the waiter that we had was very detailed, walked us through options and they were very attentive to taking away empty meat dishes. What a turnaround for this location and I think it pretty much goes without saying, but we will be back very, verrrrry soon!

I was contemplating about whether to give this place a 2 or 3 because it was truly a 2.5. I'm going with the lower number this time. :( This place has Korean bbq and hot pot, but this time, my friend and I only wanted to try the hotpot this time. And it was eh, just okay. I always choose the dashi broth is the most basic broth, so no complaints about that. But the meat was eh. I usually get the fatty beef and at this place, I think it's called beef belly. I thought it was beef brisket but it was too lean. But the beef belly pieces were so small that I needed to eat 3-4 pieces to make it seem like 1 piece. Also, their fish balls didn't taste that good. And, I tried their japchae and it was overcooked, clumpy unflavored noodles. You know who has good japchae? Garden Shabu. Their japchae is so saucy and flavorful! Sadly, I have a tendency of getting full fast, so I didn't get to try their desserts. I believe they have shaved ice, ice cream, fruit, various pastries, and even cotton candy by the entrance. Our waitress was awesome and giving strong auntie vibes. I love Korean aunties who take good care of you. Sad to give this place such a low rating, but I think you should know what to expect. I missed the times when this was the AYC Brazilian churrascaria.

The Moon impressed me on several other ways: - Care taken to keep lettuce and other greens looking and staying cool, crisp, and enticing - Individual tongs - Exceptionally attentive service staff ("Kaylee?") - Authentically delicious marinated meats - Clean, spacious, and comfortable table, chairs, and dining room overall Parking was not an issue thanks to the plaza location, and we left on the verge of euphoric food coma. Bright, clean, easy to navigate, with large vegetarian selections of hot-pot ingredients. My daughter and I chose two "New Moon" buffet - hot pot only, seafood included. My daughter is an exclusive vegetarian, while I can occasionally tolerate a small amount of good fish and shrimp. Their seafood selection is quite small, and I was only sure about the shrimp, so I picked out 3 to eat. The shrimp added some nice flavor to my broth. We ate a decent amount of their vegetarian buffet. However, our favorite ingredient, the lotus root, was flavorless and yielded too fast to the boiling - it may have been soaked for too long, and cut too thin. The same goes for the bamboo shoots - too thin and undurable. They also ran out of tofu skin (another fave of my daughter's) and did not replenish it throughout our stay. There is a large selection of sauces for one to mix one's own unique combination, but as a hot-pot traditionalist, I only need a good sesame paste sauce, some chilli oil/sauce, and plenty of chopped cilantro. Unfortunately, every sauce tasted sweet, even when it should have been savory or spicy. Another point for improvement: please supply draining ladles for every customer. Our server, on the other hand, was super friendly, attentive, and fun to talk to!

Overall OK. Waitress Ana was terrific and really helpful but the food was another story. I saw the reviews and thought this has to be amazing. The fish was not good. Do not get it. It's so rubbery and chewy. The meats overall were good but again quality varied. The best thing there was the vegetables. Mushrooms were great and the corn was delicious. I think a lot of people who come here don't realize what great Korean bbq is because this ain't it. Again, there are some positives but for 2 people for 100 dollars all you can eat you can do a lot better somewhere else. read more

Have been waiting for this place to open up and went for lunch in the middle of the week to check it out. My group went with all KBBQ so I can't speak for the taste/quality of the hot pot. The entire front-end has been redone and I can barely recognize the place from PoC. They've repurposed the buffet stations for the hotpot ingredients, various sauces and mix ins, and the banchan buffet. The interior looks fantastic and very modern. The location has plenty of tables that support both hot pot and KBBQ, though I did not see any tables that had more than a single grill per table. As far as price goes, it's on-par with similar KBBQ/hot pot places in the area but I don't feel the value is quite there. The variety of meats available isn't quite as much as other established restaurants and is pretty much just the essentials: beef belly, pork belly, beef brisket, top blade, beef bulgogi, etc. Galbi was limited to the dinner/weekend menu and there were only two spicy/marinated options. The quality of meats was average for an all you can eat place. Banchan at lunch was also just the essentials: fried and white rices, pickled radishes, japchae, and gyoza. Our server Joe was excellent, I was concerned coming in and not seeing a call button but he was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. He also made good recommendations on what to get and sauces to use with our food. He took this visit from average to four-star. Overall, I'm hoping this place finds their groove and is able to add more variety to their menu/buffet to compete with other places in the same price point, but was happy with the service and food we got. read more

I think the other low star reviews are being a little unfair. I went with my family and I thought the food and service were great. Both the hot pot and kbbq were delicious. I especially loved the desert bar that had its own Korean snow ice machine. You can tell they out A LOT of thought and care into this place. My only gripe (that I think is unfair to take a star away for) is that the experience is a bit overwhelming. Trying to manage BOTH hot pot and kbbq was a lot for me personally. I usually like one or the other. But for the person looking for both, this place is great! read more

Pretty good experience! Staff were super nice and the owner was there monitoring the staff I suppose. The food was good, nothing that really stood out but what can you really expect from an AYCE? It's one of the good ones. Been here at least 7 times and every time it has gotten better! Saturday nights are super hectic (at least the time that I went) but service was still good. Midday there is not much action in the back (I'm assuming because there's no people) but nighttime's have a great atmosphere. read more

Food was not bad for the price. Selection is on the skinny side for Korean but acceptable if you do not have a diverse desire for selections like intestines which, I wish they had. This is for BBQ but for hot pot their selection is huge from meats to seafood. So it makes up for it. Service was slow but they were slammed. The owner should know better next time. You should be served but not fawned on but you should also not be kept wondering why there is only one server for such a busy section. No stars off but next time I won't be so forgiving. Ambiance is typical AYCE. This used to be POC so I am aware of the lay out. It could be more spruced up but this is not the place for that. Overall it was clean and welcoming but it was too cookie cutter. Good food, acceptable server and good price makes this a recommendation. Head to head against a Leblon Steakhouse and this place would not compete but that is more upscale...This place hits the mark for the niche it is making itself. Bottom line, my dad and brother liked it and that means The Moon did the job it was supposed to. read more

One of the cleaner k bbq spots I've been to! They have a large selection of items for both kpot and kbbq in their buffet. They also have a section of cooked foods such as sushi, rice, and other fried appetizer items. They also have fruits, ice cream, and cookies for dessert! read more

The only reason why I'm giving this place a two is because the waiter was really nice. Other than that, my biggest complaint is that the grill is not hot at all for kbbq. My friend group of 5 ordered 3 rounds of meat because that's how quickly the meat would cook. The portion sizes are about how if you connected your middle finger and thumb to make a circle with both hands. Also, initially the robot bringing our food, brought it to a different table so we weren't sure if we should take it or not. Also for the same prices you can get premium cuts of meat somewhere else. All in all, for the price... No. Drive 10 minutes more to ktown or shabu garden read more

While the food was very good, the service and management was just so-so. Our waitress was nice, but the service was a bit slow. Management gave confusing information about discounts and seemed combative before I even asked a question. I particularly did not like that the gratuity was added on top of taxes. For a 20% gratuity for a large group of people, that was a big difference! We were also told that any leftover meats would be charged extra, even though we didn't order any extra. This is part of the original price per person. I just don't like the way they try to get more money out of you. The variety of food was good, however. The quality was good too. Just wish I could say that the overall experience was as good. read more

Went here for the first time for my mom's birthday. I didn't have high expectations for a place that sells both AYCE krn bbq and shabu shabu (hotpot) because I just can't see myself doing both at the same time. So I got the all you can eat hotpot and I was very impressed. Exceeded my expectations! I got the dashi broth for the soup base and I really liked it; it wasn't salty and it was flavorful. Also the taste of the dashi broth will thicken and burst with flavors once you add all your toppings. I usually like the spicy broth but the waitress recommended dashi which I'm thankful for! Also they have large variety of options- vegetables, tofu, noodles, fish cakes, japchae, dukbokki, shaved ice, fruits and much more. Udon goes perfectly with hotpot, make sure you get some! The meat was fresh!! I wonder if it's prime meat because it tasted like it. Shabu house was my go to but I will start going here more often because it's closer to my house. Only con is that I did not like their house sauce, it was way too salty. I just ate mine without sauce and still was yummy. Service- 4/5 the ahjimmas were so sweet and attentive however this place is HUGE. Only one waitress was allowed to serve us it seems like because when we needed something and tried to ask a diff server, we got ignored. I suggest that since this restaurant is big, it should be okay for multiple waiters to help out tables, especially big parties like ours. Overall I will be coming back! read more

Such a great BBQ place, the meat selection is perfect, there are so many side choices and theres even ice cream at the end. The hot pot was also wonderful and the broth choices were so much better than other places I've been to. The service by the way was SO FUN, Anna was amazing and it made my table to excited everytime she would come by. And not to mention the feel of the place, it feels very clean and modern, then the crew just makes it homey and cozy. A very wonderful experience, 10/10 read more

For reference I don't go to a lot of hot pot places. Garden Shabu in Little Ferry has been my go to and I like that place so I'm comparing it to there. The customer service is eh. The quality of meat was eh. The variety of food to choose from for the okay. My father in law enjoys soju with his hot pot but this kbbq place doesn't serve alcohol. The place was relatively empty and it just overall wasn't that great. I wouldn't recommend coming here. read more

My wife and I came here to try a new spot. We only had the k bbq but we're incredibly disappointed in the quality and quantity. From a price point this was not worth it for an all you can eat with limited meat selections. When you went to the area to grab other items for your plate you were limited again to a minimal amount of choices. We were not impressed and the food quality was nothing to rave about. Lastly the k bbq grill plate we had initially was dirty. Upon grilling, black burnt areas were coming off the grill. This should not have been the case if the grill was cleaned thoroughly. read more

Ana , an employee at The Moon is the best. Her service is top notch. Made my kids happy to come to the restaurant especially when she is here. She once gave me a sauce called the "Ana Sauce" and it tastes great and it compliments well with the bbq and hot pot. The sauce is sweet with a tiny kick. Everything I go here I will always look for Ana and her "Ana Sauce". Very sweet person. Thank you for making our time here special. !!!! read more

A lot going on. This spot has always been something interesting - a churrascaria back in the late 90s, then vacant for some time, then POC and now The Moon. Good amount of space for parties and family gatherings. I find it too busy when you get both hot pot and BBQ, but if you want to try a bit of everything, this is a solid spot. If you wanted KBBQ only, plenty of other AYCE places that will rank better. Service was good, but somewhat inconsistent probably due to some understaffing when we went during the holidays. BYOB if i recall correctly, so hit a wine shop nearby if it's still the case. read more

My husband was really excited to take me to a new hot pot restaurant near our place after work. The restaurant sits on a nice, open ground with a welcoming ambiance from the owner and the wait staff. I was impressed by the variety and freshness of the food they offer. Additionally, they have two separate sauce stations with more than twenty options on each side, making it easy for customers to access regardless of where they are seated. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought into this restaurant. What impressed me the most was that they offer three variations of Jalapenos: sliced, chopped, and marinated, showing their commitment to catering to customer preferences. Not many places would go to such lengths to meet individual needs, but they want to ensure everyone has a great dining experience. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. What makes this restaurant special is its focus on using quality ingredients and preparing everything fresh. I particularly enjoyed the oyster mushrooms--a rare find in all-you-can-eat hot pot places. I noticed they always keep the food refilled so you never run out. Plus, they cut the meat fresh each time you order, made to order as ensuring it's always of high quality. In addition to being a satisfying meal, it was also incredibly fun. The restaurant features cute robots that roam around, delivering food to your table. You can even program them to display birthday wishes on their screens and play the 'Happy Birthday' song. It was a blast watching the robots navigate their way through the restaurant with their big, shiny, and adorable eyes. The assortment of meats was incredible--everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. They charged full adult price for my 6 year old son. My 3 year old boy who barely ate anything was charged 1/2 price. The food was mediocre at best. No steamed eggs, no soybean paste soup, no lettuce for the BBQ. The grill is so weak that the meat doesn't even really cook. My 3 year old threw up when we got home and my wife and I also felt sick. I am not even sure what it was but I am sure it was from this place. Please help yourself to a better BBQ spots in palisades park or fort lee. This is NOT worth spending your money at. read more
