Guys, the cool things about the Moore Hotel are threefold: 1. Its allegedly haunted. It's suuuuuuuuuper old and right next to an old theater and apparently ghosts roam the hallways. 2. The hallways. If you're lucky enough to get placed on the fourth or fifth floors, the carpets have animal print--leopard for fourth, tiger for fifth. I have a theory that the higher up you go, the more exotic the animal print. The seventh floor must have dragon. 3. The location. It's super duper central. I don't mind European-style lodging (shared bathrooms in the hallway); weird smelling rooms or any of that other run-down nonsense. The Moore Hotel is way central and way old and way charming for what it is. I wouldn't mind a fridge, or a comfy bed, but the front desk staff is helpful, the location is just perfect in central downtown Seattle, and the price is affordable. I would definitely stay here again if I ever need a central budget hotel in the city. read more

Location location location. I loved this place. Reserved one Queen room for my boyfriend and I for a quick night stay. For the price you can't get much better. Very close to a whole lot of shopping and major attractions. To top off our stay is snowed all day in Seattle so made it all quite magical. The decor is different and interesting. I loved the old bathroom while the bf didn't care for it too much., Wish there could have been heat control though rather than just radiator heat. The parking garage arrangement was quite confusing and really not explained to us as well as it should have been and we were charged an extra $12 for being 30 mins late the next morning. Make sure to get clarification on this when you book with them. Overall though, I will definitely be booking here again next time my bf is visiting from out of state. read more

5 ways to make your hotel 5 stars on Yelp, Mr. Moore: 1. Get my reservations right. Keep them that way. 2. A little consistency among your staff wouldn't hurt. 3. If a room has cracked tile, stained ceilings, and part of the bathroom floor is gouged out, you may want to do a few simple renovations. 4. Lose the polyester coverlets. 5. Un-broken furniture is classier than broken furniture and less likely to cause injury to hotel guests. 3 Reasons your hotel is worthy of 3 stars, Mr. Moore: 1. VERY CHEAP. $50-$80/night for two people never sounded so good. 2. BIG ROOMS. They were big alright. Not exactly a room I want to hang out in all day, but they were big. A double (two queens) could easily sleep 4-6 people if you're travelling on the super cheap. 3. LOCATION. It couldn't be better! Two blocks from Pike's, about 4 blocks from the downtown shopping area, and on a street lined with dive bars, including the Nite Lite, which is located IN the Moore Hotel. We're currently in the planning stages of a Yelper Dive Bar Crawl weekend in Seattle so we'll definitely be back to the Moore to get our rowdy on. The Moore is not romantic. The Moore is not a "special occasion" kind of place. The Moore is more of a party-like-a-rockstar- and-break-shit kind of place. And that's ok by me. read more

At around midnight, in the elevator heading to my room: Drunk Man (~20s): *Looks over at me* Don't...judge me. *Smirk* V: I'm not. Drunk Man: Yea, you are. V: No, I'm not. Drunk Man: *Chuckles* Okay. V: *I reach my floor and depart from the elevator* Drunk Man: Bye, I like your shorts, they look so goood. Wear them *pointing finger & circling it*...tomorrow....mmhmm. In the morning at approximately 10 a.m. , my friend and I heard.... V: Do you here that? J: What? V: That...moaning...and groaning...and heavy breathing. J: Are the people next door fighting? V: You fight like that? Sounds like they're having sex. J: Really?......Yea, they're having sex. V: Well, that was short, only 7 minutes. 7 minutes in a heaven! Well, my point is, many interesting and fun things can happen at the Moore. It's a European style hotel with obviously, very thin walls. So you can hear ALL the action. Ohhh yea! IF, you're into that. We were lucky, we got a floor that was very quiet. The other floors above us consisted of many late night party-goers who returned to their rooms drunk and continued to be boisterous and obnoxious. Specifications: Hotel Key: It's a key, not a card key, an actual key where you must insert it in a hole and twist. Room: It's very spacious. There is a sink and mirror and a small closet. We got one queen side bed. My friend slept on the ground and there was plenty of room all around him. I am pretty sure you can fit 7 more people on the floor. Bathroom (Shared W/ Those On Your Floor): It is accessible on your floor outside of your room. Pretty clean when I went. Shower (Shared W/ Those On Your Floor): Bars of soap and towels are provided in your room. Since I didn't bring any slippers, I spread a towel on the floor of the shower. Not sure if that made a difference, but it gave me peace of mind. Prices: Affordable and great for those at least 18, but under 21, like ourselves. We chose the European Style W/ a Single Occupancy, which includes one queen bed. It came out to $64. Location: About 2 blocks away from Pike's Market. However, if you want to be closer to Pike's, you can check out the Green Tortoise Hostel, which is basically across from Pike's. Parking: You can park on the street for free after a certain time at night and up until it hits the time in the morning that you need to pay for a parking ticket. So....if you want to save the trouble of waking up super early to pay for a parking ticket. Go purchase a ticket at the machine when the free parking begins, stick it on your car, and you'll get to sleep in for at least 2 hours in the morning until you have to go down and buy a new ticket. Make sure you get there in time! OR risk getting a ticket. It's not worth it. Atmosphere: A vintage looking hotel, similar to what you would see in a 1950s film. It's quite neat actually and a new experience for anyone who hasn't been in a European Style Hotel, which is essentially sharing bathrooms and showers. Service: The man at the front was welcoming, kind, and helpful. He was very willing to help us with our needs no matter how late in the night it was. Verdict: 3.7 out of 5.0. read more

Whatever you do, DON'T GET ALL PSYCHO when the clerk tells you after a long string of booking hassles that you don't actually have a reservation for tonight, even though stuff like this causes even the most patient people to GET ALL PSYCHO. The clerk will probably be able to book another room for you after curtly asking you not to GET ALL PSYCHO with her. Once you're checked in and no longer ALL PSYCHO, you might notice all the marble lobby with the art decoish furniture, the creepy hallways (different floors are painted different colors, but it all looks like something out of a twilight zone episode) and the view from the upper floors. The Moore is a 'historic' hotel, meaning that sometimes the tile in the bathroom is cracked and the floors creak and there aren't many modern conveniences, but none of that matters because it's got crown moldings and shit. The Moore Hotel is also cheap, and right downtown. Visitors with drinking problems will appreciate all the bars nearby; The Nite Lite is in the building, The Whisky Bar is across the street, and Shortys, The Virginia Inn, and The Blarney Stone are just a couple blocks away. I'd stay here again next time I'm in Seattle (which should be soon.) P.S. Room 618 has a really cool iron clawfoot tub, in which at least one Yelper has passed out in a bridesmaid's dress. read more

This page is a great place to come for those out-of-touch, whiny reviews from people who can't seem to fathom "you get what you pay for." If you want an upscale hotel with all the amenities in downtown Seattle, do you really think ~$80 is going to do it? I've stayed in the Euro-style rooms here a number of times, and I've probably waited a cumulative 5 minutes for the bathroom. This time, 4 of us shared a suite ($40/person), with 2 rooms, 4 beds & 1 bathroom (plus a sink in the 2 twin-bed room). Everything was spotless. The decor was modern and decent. Bed was very comfortable. Pillows were awesome! The TV was old, but who gives a crap, b/c we didn't use it. Yes, there's no A/C (just a window), but it's Seattle; summer comes for a few days in August. Plus, it's a city; there's no bugs to worry about flying in. Was there on a busy Saturday night, and heard next-to-nothing from adjacent rooms. Great location. No parking on-site, but they validate the garage 1 block away. Staff was friendly and accommodating. As we usually do, we checked out, left our bags in their locked luggage room, then returned in the evening and grabbed our bags, before heading home. For a downtown budget hotel, the Moore cannot be beat. read more

Not sure if this was previously a dorm & housing unit, The Moore Hotel offers a very different hotel experience. You have the option of sharing a communal bathroom at a lower rate. I didn't personally go with this option but in observing, I noticed that there was no sink in the toilet portion of the bathroom, meaning there was nowhere to wash your hands. The shower portion of the bathroom was in another area, where the sink was located.This hotel is also not completely typical as they still use real keys instead of the magnetic reading cards. The rooms are very spacious, just offer very interesting traits, such as the old school bath tub, and outdated heating system ASIDE from the strange business model The Moore Hotel uses, the location is AMAZING and only 2 blocks from Pike Place Market, less than a mile from the Space Needle and very very close to the central shopping center in Seattle. read more

With a great location & awesome price, I can overlook the lack of AC & terrible view. We had a private-bathroom & would stay here again in the future (if I got a better room location in the building). Recently we stayed 3 nights in the midst of a Seattle heat-wave. It was 90° + , but we were rarely in the room & the small fan / open window provided a smidgen of relief. I reserved 4 months in advance & asked for a decent view? That consideration was ignored,as I had the view of a brick-wall & accumulating garbage. For this 30th birthday surprise trip for my fiance..... I was hoping for a room on high-floor w/ views of the ocean or some lively action. I literally got the worst view possible. Odd 2nd floor nook, where the L-Shaped building stares directly at brick wall opposite to it. If you look down there was a 7-foot gap to a roof landing below .... There is tons of garbage and junk starting to build up here .... It also is the perfect height for a crazy person to try and jump and grab your window ledge. This makes leaving your window open when you leave your room a bit concerning. It is hot as hell, but if I leave my window open will some crazy batman-like-hobo leap into my room? There was an alley-way behind the building that reeked of urine & seemed to be a popular spot for sleeping / heroine. A rickety old fire-escape-stairwell led from an exit just down the hallway from my hotel room, down to the pungent alley-way below. This exit door near my hotel bedroom door, was left open several time (probably due to heat). Still kind of sketchy and who knows what people are thinking these days. A homeless person could have easily boosted a comrade up to exit stairs & up into the building. This place is great if you have a private bathroom room & have a good room location in the building. My first trip to Seattle was a success, and mostly it was thanks to The Moore Hotel. I am a very picky person, in fact I'll admit- I'm high maintenance. I wanted a nice room, maybe with a view of the city, and blah blah blah, all that other stuff girls like me want. However, my husband convinced me- the cheaper the room, the more money we could spend OUT of the room. I read the reviews, but basically it was the price that sealed our fate. First, the location is amazing. It's walking distance to Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, Belltown, The Pacific Science Center, Shopping etc. Everything you need can be found nearby. Second, the staff. The staff was pretty great. I wish I could remember the name of the guy who was working the front desk, man- did he know everything! I was sitting in the lobby waiting for my husband and watched as he informed guest after guest about which great bars and restaurants to go, where to find the best this, where to get the best that. I was very impressed. Third, the rooms were clean, no bugs, no weird smells. My room didn't have AC but I left the windows opened and listened to the sound of the city, which was great. We were informed that not all the rooms had Wi-Fi but we lucked out the Wi-Fi worked great in my room. We paid a little extra and stayed in a room WITHOUT the shared bathroom. (totally worth a few more dollars). Overall, I would stay here again, it's a great find. the Moore is not a big fancy hotel with all the bells and whistles, but if you need a cheap hotel with a great staff this is the place. read more

Ok, I have been here less than a minute and I'm getting the feeling I want to leave. I'm only staying a couple of nights and chose this place because I needed a bed to crash on. Once working in I thought of an old 80's movie where Johns bring their hookers. The woman that had my keys didn't even excuse herself after helping a person before me. She walks off as I get to the front desk without a peep. I honesty thought she was going to leave but came back after fiddling with papers. They still have metal keys instead of key cards for these wooden old doors. The elevator runs as if it's going to break down any moment & lock you inside. The elevator door take 30secs to open or close. I wanted to pull it open like the Hulk after waiting so long. Next was my room. No toilet, no shower & a closet large enough to use as an apartment. I hear there is a community bathroom but this is unacceptable. Who ever gave this place high reviews needs to get medically examined. Now I haven't seen Bed Bug yet but my instincts are telling me to run like a bat outta hell. They get 2 for more but if it gets any most I may have to change that. read more

What a great no nonsense no frills hotel. I like the affordability of the hotel. I didn't need anything fancy during my stay and I liked the simplicity of the room. It was clean and comfortable even with no air. The windows opened enough to let a nice breeze in and the fans were sufficient to circulate the air. The bed was comfy and housekeeping was great! Mary and all the front desk staff were personable and friendly. If simplistic is your thing then I highly recommend the Moore. There is a restaurant and coffee shop attached, both amazing. read more

I love Portland, I really do, but sometimes you just have to get away from the familiar people places, and most of all work. Being a college student, money is something that is always in short supply, so eating, much less going on a vacation is a luxury I seldom have. A trip to Seattle for the weekend and my girlfriend and I need a place to stay, but still have enough money to eat. The Moore hotel was a good deal at $95 per night, especially considering its amazing location in downtown, just blocks from Pikes Place. The staff was very friendly and accommodating with everything, and had no problem with us leaving our bags there before or after checkout. The Moore has character, that's for sure. It's an old building that looks like it has been renovated recently, and has quirky features such as leopard pattern carpet in the halls, and an odd painting on the elevator door of a woman being squished between the doors. It's kind of kitschy and maybe a bit creepy with its dark, curtained halls, but that's one of the reasons I enjoyed staying there. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable, but most importantly the pillows were not like sacks filled old socks and straw, like so many hotel pillows feel. My only complaint was that the walls were on the thin side......Loud noises of the sexual kind at 1:30 AM wasn't the way I wanted to wake up. She was faking it for sure. I would stay here again for sure. For the location, quirky/creepy charm, and price you really can't go wrong with the Moore. read more

What you need to know about the Moore Hotel: If you need a place with a giant flatscreen TV, hair dryer, other modern amenities, you can stop now. This isn't the place for you. There are numerous hotels like the Sheraton, Hyatt, Hilton all close by. Of course, those places all charge more than twice what you'll pay at this charming, comfortable, historic hotel which is located in a great area between Belltown and Pike Place - within walking distance of tons of good stuff. There are rooms that share bathrooms and rooms with their own - all are affordable. My room, while hardly modern, was clean, well-maintained and comfortable. Noise wasn't an issue, though I stayed on a Tuesday night. There's a coffee shop right off the lobby - but then again I think that's mandatory in Seattle. Also a lounge on the other side so they've got your mornings and evenings both covered. Finally, the lobby is a great place to people watch. If you're in to watching people. Summary: A great find. Enjoying a good location near Pike Market and within walking distance of Chihuly Gardens, the Moore Hotel is old but has been remodeled. But it is old -- tiny elevator, tiny TV, no air conditioning (and it's tough to keep your windows open because of the noise and light from the street), and no parking. But it is clean and the bed was comfortable and it was a decent value. Hint: They have a deal with a parking garage a block away, but notice that the garage is not open 24 hours (on Sundays, it opens at 9am, for example). To me, this is the only hotel in Seattle. It is just the perfect storm of amazingness. It is located in Belltown which is close to errything you want to get after. You can walk to all the things downtown, Seattle Centre, EMP, shopping, Pike Place Market, and so on. Obviously that is not a complete list fools. If you need to travel to Capitol Hill or whatever, the Moore is close to transit or they can call you a taxi. Taxi's are so cheap here, live a little and take one! There is a coffee shop and a bar/restaurant located in the hotel. There are also a lot of bars/restaurants just a few blocks west of you on 2nd. Quick and easy stumble home. The rooms are clean and come complete with towel animals. I find them all to be significantly different from each other in size, so it's like Christmas every time you stay. I rent rooms with a bathroom, but you can save some cash and share a communal bathroom which is fully functional and clean. (We had to use it when the shower in our room was acting up) It's an old building with buckets of charm, a tiny poorly lit elevator, and actual keys for your room. The staff here are amazing, both on the phone and at the desk. They are full of suggestions about the city, quick to solve problems should they arise, and are just so damn nice to talk to. Man I love good customer service. Oh right, and it's so damn cheap. The rates are beyond reasonable and when you factor in location, service, and amenities..... it's pretty much free. Free wifi in the lobby, and on some of the floors. No AC though, so keep that in mind if it's a summer stay. They have a deal with a parking garage a block away, but it's not that cheap really, considering you won't really be driving. Insert shameless plug for my new BFF the Bolt Bus here. Four stars for the Moore because it delivered on the most important aspects of hotel-hood: 1) CLEANLINESS - absolutely spotless 2) CONVENIENCE - two blocks from the light rail to and from the airport 3) LOCATION - two blocks from Pike Place Market 4) QUIET - no sound issues at all My complaints - a very erratic shower (scalding us many times), a slightly sketchy spot filled with homeless people, and the second room of the suite only has a teeny tiny couch. We were looking for a cheap, not ghetto, clean place to stay that was in a good location. This was it! It's definitely not a high end hotel but I like to think it has character. The elevator is big enough for about 4 people and we took it as a challenge to fit all 4 of us and our luggage in it. We succeeded. The front desk staff was very helpful. We had questions on how to get places and asked their suggestions on places to eat and see. They answered them with pleasure. We'll definitely stay again when we're in town. read more

For about 100 bucks a night, I got a Euro room with 2 beds which basically means the bathroom and shower is in the hallway and shared. Kind of reminded me of college dorms haha. Basically, only needed the room to sleep at night so I didn't mind at all especially since this hotel is located in a great location, just a few blocks to the Pike Place market on one end and the Space Needle on the other. Besides the shared bathroom/shower for the euro rooms, there's also no air conditioning (however there was a regular fan in the room), and the room got super hot during the day. I happened to be staying in Seattle when it was extra toasty. There's also a sense of creepiness factor to this place. Some say it's haunted, but I didn't see any ghosts. Some strange smells in a small elevator, but for 100 bucks for 2 people and the fact that every Air BnB was booked and every other downtown hotel was looking like $300+ a night, I was satisfied with sticking with the Moore Hotel. read more

For Friday night of Memorial Day weekend, we paid about $90 including taxes and fees. Not bad, considering it's just a couple blocks from Pike Place, the 194 bus stop (which takes you to/from the airport), the monorail, etc. If you're willing to walk about 15 minutes, you can get to the Seattle Central Library, the Seattle Aquarium, and even Seattle Center. Because there are several bars nearby, the neighborhood seemed populated and safe, even at night. At 2am, we walked back from Cinerama with no fear. The bar patrons can get noisy though, so I wouldn't recommend this hotel for light sleepers. The room was comfy and clean. The TV worked fine (though the remote had no numbers, just up/down arrows). There's internet and a computer in the lobby. The checkout desk can be a madhouse though -- be prepared to wait in line, esp. on weekends. I'd stay here again. read more

The moore hotel was a perfect place to stay fitting in my budget. My bf and I booked the queen room with a private bath for 3 nights - averages out to $100 a night including tax. If you book the room for one person, I think its cheaper than booking for 2 even though the room is plenty big for two. The location is beyond amazing. its walking distance from everywhere or just a short bus ride away. getting to the hotel from the airport was a piece of cake. we arrived thurs night, and i didnt feel uncomfortable at all walking around the area. The dark walls and decor did not bother me at all, in fact i enjoyed it. the hotel has a lot of character, but be careful for a stuffy room! we learned to leave the windows open when we went out for the day. I love the Moore. The location is blocks from everything. Pike Place Market, Belltown, Shorty's, Lava Lounge and Mamas, shopping, Seattle Centre. The building itself is charming. Heritage, long hallways, tiny elevator, actual keys for your room and ghosts roaming about. The price has to be the cheapest for clean accommodations in downtown Seattle. And the staff. There is a lovely man who works the front counter on Saturday nights. He has recommended multiple restaurants and bars over the years and never led me astray. I make a point of asking him to send me somewhere new each time I'm there. I've only stayed in the full rooms, but I did get to use the shared washroom once when my shower broke and I was impressed with how clean and spacious it was. read more

Stayed here on my first trip to Seattle several years ago and liked it so much it's the only place I'll stay when I travel up here. First of all you get an actual key - not a plastic card to access your room. Old school! This place is a restored hotel so all the rooms are a great throwback. There is wifi that's faster than other hotels I've stayed at and my room had a flat screen TV and a mini fridge so it's not like you're totally living like it's 1907 when it first opened. Everyone who works at the hotel that I've talked to is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The hotel is between great coffee shop and a fun dive bar. Highly recommended read more

Great place to stay. No bugs! The one thing I care about. I will freely admit I was one of those people who hogged the bathroom, but hey...A girl's gotta be clean! The walls were a little thin. (Hotel sex is great. Hearing it from someone else isnt so..) There was a nice little Origami Dog made out of towels which became our inanimate pet for the time being. Didnt see any ghost, but my takeout food did disappear from the windowsill overnight. Hmmm.... Anyways, very charming and clean. read more

Yes it is probably the cheapest in the city, but it's more of a Hostel, then Hotel. The place is dirty, cheap, walls thinner than paper, gross beds, no internet access above floor 3, the shower barely fits one normal sized person, the sink faucet dripped for 4 days straight, the tv is smaller than your ipad, the staff was kinda somewhat helpful but too cool to actually be helpful. The room was OK, the price and location were super. Moore is walking distance from the light rail as you fly in, no need to pay for a pricey shuttle or taxi. From the airport to downtown Seattle, it only costs $2.75 per person one way. So cheap compared to shuttles which would cost about $40. They don't have breakfast or coffee available, but Pike's Place is just down the block - dozens of food and booze choices from 5 am to late at night. The bus and rail system in Seattle are great, no need to rent a car. The rooms are clean. The building is older so it has thin walls so you can kind of hear what your neighbor's TV, and no a/c and not a lot of heat. It's not too bad, but if you need lots of modern temperature control - pay twice as much for a different hotel. Someone on yelp complained that the TV was small. Seriously? In Seattle there is so much to do, watch TV when you get home for God's sake. Wifi only worked in the lobby and the closest rooms to the lobby. For the price break and being in the heart of the city, I suffered the trauma of having to go downstairs if I wanted to use my laptop. For the low price and architectural charm of this place, BFD. read more

Funky old hotel in the heart of downtown, right by the Pike Place Market. The famous Moore Theater is off to one side of the hotel. No shows were going on while we were staying there for three nights so I have no idea how well insulated the theater is. We were serenaded by a drunk trumpet player one night though. Check in was smooth enough, just a quick one two punch. Nice big lobby with comfy chairs and couches along with two computers for your use. You can't print anything off of them though. We needed our City Passes printed and the hotel staff was not helpful. Our friends that lived there saved the day! The elevator is super tiny so just you and your bags will fit. I have seen smaller, where you have to send your bags up and take the stairs to meet them. The long hall ways make you feel like you have stepped back in time. Almost Shiningesque. Our room was the last door up a couple stairs at the end of the 7th floor hall. You actually have to bend over to get into the door if you are taller than 5'6". Once the door opens though you walk into a HUGE room. Super tall ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. There is a step up to the bathroom and another floor to ceiling window in there. Then we discovered there is NO AC in the building. We checked in on a 90 degree day. It was a pretty miserable night of sleep. They had one tiny retro fan in the room and we opened the windows pronto. The second night was a little better and the third night was perfect sleeping weather. The bed was comfy and firm but we did buy softer sheets. (Bed Bath and Beyond is located directly behind the hotel where there is also public parking.) The ones they use felt like a blend and they were pilly. That on top of the heat was just not a good combo. Egyptian cotton people! The only thing that was really off about the room aside from the sheets was the lack of chairs. We had friends visiting with us and we didn't invite them up because of the lack of seating. We had one two seater leather couch. Luckily the bar downstairs was nice and roomy including a couple pool tables and very strong drinks. Yay! There were two closets in the room and they had wooden hangers! Small fridge,microwave, coffee maker were in the kitchenette. So for location, and ambiance I give the place 4 stars. Nice touch was the towel animal in the bathroom, but nicer sheets, chairs and printing off a piece of paper would have helped push it up to 5 stars. read more

This is our second time staying here and I really sought alternatives because this is akin to a hostel to be honest. I don't know, but it seemed they'd cleaned the place up a bit since our last visit 2 years ago and the desk staff was much better. Last time we were here, the staff seemed to act like they were doing us a favor & this time they were very helpful. I love the location and the price, that's for sure, but don't expect to actually get their free internet, it is just a wireless modem hanging on the wall near the elevator & if you're not near the middle of the building, you won't be able to get it. But the location is perfect for us and that's really what keeps us coming back. Oh, one more nice new feature is the coffee shop next door (Moore Coffee). Great value, lackluster service. The Moore Hotel, is very affordable given it's great location to the attractions in downtown Seattle. You are close to bus stops, as well as Pike's Market. You can easily get to wherever you'd like to go. My biggest complaint is the service. We requested extra pillows, which given most hotels is a normal request. However, we were told that there were no extra pillows to be found. Another guest overheard our request and informed me that she asked for an extra blanket because she was cold and they told her that they didn't have any extra blankets. Both of these are normal requests and could be easily fixed by the hotel. During our visit we stayed in a European style room, which meant we had a sink in the room and had use a community bathroom. For this worked out great, and allowed us to keep the cost down. Minus the pillow problem, I'd give this hotel a 5 star review. But give the hotel staffs indifference to the situation I have to give it 3 stars. read more

Stayed here in 2011 on vacation. The proximity to Pike Place was the best selling point, but the price was definitely right. I like the stripped-down European-style hotel experience. Still, it was worth paying a little extra for the suite. The guy at the front desk was very nice. It was a while ago and I can't remember his name, but he gave my whole group great advice on less-touristy places to go. read more

The reviews which specific good basic rooms at a good basic value have it exactly right. Me and my wife wanted to celebrate our anniversary; our budget was tighter than tight. When wife suggested we lark out to Seattle finding the transportation was easy enough; the big thing was the sleeps. We didn't need much; just a night in a comfy bed and a private place to get cleaned up. The Moore, simply put, provides. Also deserving of a nod was Robert, the front desk clerk on duty when we arrived, who was not only the one who treated my wife very very well on the phone when we make the reservation but was affable, welcoming, and offered me some of the broccoli he was a-snackin' on when I noticed he had some. You can't offend me by sharing your broccoli! Got a room on the 7th floor, neat views of 2nd Avenue and satsifying glimpses of Elliott Bay and the Seattle Harbor gave me a lot to look at at night. Bed crisp and comfortable, and loved the little towel-doggie that was on the bed when we got there. No matter what the budget is going to be in the future, we'll start at the Moore. You can't really go wrong there. read more

At first blush, The Moore appears a little down-at-the-heel but don't let that fool you into looking elsewhere for accommodation. A lot of effort has been put into updating this lovely, old, building & making it comfortable. The rooms are large; the beds comfortable; the washrooms are spacious & very clean. My room faces 2nd Ave & so I have a bit of a view of the water. The windows are single-glazed so there's some street noise but a pair of ear plugs takes care of that for a good night's sleep. I was a little disappointed that there isn't coffee available in the room but in the a.m., I slipped into a set of sweats, ran my fingers through my hair & trundled into the charming cafe (The Moore) that's connected to the lobby. Great coffee, wonderful morning baked goods & a charming staff. A hot cup of tea is essential to me at the end of the day & their Breakfast Tea did the trick. The Moore is handy to just about everything - Pike Place, clothing stores, the art museum etc. While some of the "neighbours" aren't necessarily the kind of folks you'd invite for dinner, I didn't feel unsafe popping out to the local restaurants after dark & had great recommendations about local eateries from the night concierge. And speaking of staff, the folks at The Moore are more than you could ask for in terms of attentiveness & knowledge. Four HUGE stars go to "Robert," the night concierge, who is warm, friendly, good humoured and - most important to me - responds to questions with detailed & accurate information. While wifi isn't available in all the rooms, it's there for you in the lobby which is bright and comfortable. Would I stay again? You bet. read more

At first glance this place seems ok. Spacious room, relatively clean, etc. It seemed good for the price we paid and we weren't picky 'cuz we were more about location than the place figuring we'd spend more times going about than in the hotel anyways. Then came the shower....I'm a 5'2" Asian girl by no means extremely large...the shower was even small for me. The standing shower made it hard to even bend over to pick up something if you dropped it. It was odd 'cuz the actual bathroom itself is huge. NOT just that....apparently it's an old building...and if you don't time your showers right you may share the water heater w/ the rooms next to you, etc....meaning my leisurely 15-20 minute shower was interrupted by swings of icy cold water to scalding hot water if you weren't careful. I think my bf heard me scream every so often thinking something was wrong w/ me.... I've been to a lot of hotels and I expected at least the shower to work right. I'm not a high maintenance girl by any means but really don't mess w/ my shower time. read more

Four stars because: location, location, location (we easily walked either directly to our locations of choice or public transit); the experience of staying in a motel that manages to maintain charming original details with contemporary decor; this place manages to have the cleanest shared bathrooms I have had the pleasure to use. I stayed here with my mom and brother recently. We reserved one room but when we checked in we were offered an adjoining room and we upgraded. We had our own shared bathroom (between the two rooms) which was clean, although the shower was teeny (I knew the showers might be small thanks to all the awesome photos shared by other guests!). We loved being able to send my brother to the coffee shop while us girls got ready. So that was a big plus. The coffee shop is adorable. I loved being able to walk to the ATM, the market, local restaurants for meals, and public transit. I will say I am not sure my kids would enjoy it as much as I did because it does have a subtle creepy feel... our door rattled when the window was open - air flow- and it sounded like someone was trying to get in. We loved having a real key though. (You can leave it at the desk before you head out for adventures and not worry about losing it.) If I had little ones who are big on exploring and climbing I might be wary of the rooms like ours off the street as they open completely (no screens, obviously). My kids weren't accompanying me so I enjoyed the windows and fresh air. (Great for people watching out the street side windows.) We will definitely stay here again in the future. read more

Had a better-than-expected pleasant stay at this cute hotel. The location was spot-on and the price per night was definitely reasonable - especially for the summertime when I went! I was most worried about the scary/creepy looking hallways seen in some of the pictures and stated in the reviews of some, but they were actually not that bad! I think it's just the dim lighting and dark brown color of the walls/doors/carpet that make it seem daunting. The room itself (single queen bed) was quite roomy and welcoming. The bathroom was also surprisingly very clean. Only problem was that the bathroom door wouldn't close until I saw that there was a newly installed latch at the very top of the door. So if you think your door is broken, follow your eyes up the doorframe to find that discrete lock! Housekeeping came every day to tidy things up/replace soaps and towels and left our items untouched. Front desk staff were very accommodating and provided us with a hairdryer upon request. They also have luggage storage. Would choose Moore if I had another opportunity to stay in Seattle! read more

This is one of those unique places where I really wish I could award it 6 stars. I LOVED staying at the Moore! It's a beautiful hotel that's maintained its old world charm impeccably. It's Motel 6 prices with a boutique hotel feel. The front counter staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, and the hotel was very quiet for being so old. What really sold us was that it only cost $227 for a suite that slept SIX PEOPLE. Amazing! The Moore is without some of the luxuries a more seasoned traveller may be used to (room service, valet parking & other amenities), but the complementary WiFi and location to Pike Place make up for this completely. The cherry on top is that there's a patrolled long term parking lot across the street that's a fraction of the price of valet parking. Whether you're looking for a budget backpacker hotel or an attractive and safe place to rest your head, I think you'll find what you're looking for at The Moore. I will never stay anywhere else in Seattle now that I've found this gem! read more

The Moore hotel saved my honeymoon. I lost my ring the morning we were checking out and made the staff aware. After a tearful breakfast next door (which was great, despite the circumstances), we headed to our next hotel. Less than an hour later we received a phone call that housekeeping found the ring in the room and we could come pick it up. I wanted to jump through the phone and give her a huge hug! Thank you, Moore Hotel for being so honest and accommodating! You really made my day, and it means a lot. Had the whole ring situation never happened, they still would have been given a 5 star rating due to their location, fantastic price, and clean suites alone. By luck our room was upgraded at check in, which we were super appreciative for. The decoration is modern and minimalist, and you gotta love the claw foot tubs. Its only a couple minute walk to pike place market, under 20 min walk to the space needle, and near a ton of public transportation. I was incredibly pleased and would enthusiastically recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. read more
