Glad this older venue remains in downtown Seattle near 2nd & Stewart. Other similar but updated venues include The Paramount and 5th Avenue Theater. Event tickets can be purchased online or via box office. Decent acoustics. Lobbies have merch and beverages can be purchased during the event. Clean women's restroom, but broken or unrefilled soap dispensers.. I've only attended two events here in a thirty year span and observed no interior updates. Speaking only to the upper balcony section (there's also a middle balcony and main floor levels). Tight seating, no railing at the aisle stairs.

Hopefully, this review is logistically useful to the reader. - In downtown, questionable-ish neighborhood, come with a friend(s) please. - Parking is street parking; there are lots nearby. If the show starts at 8pm and you're driving here, street parking is the best deal cuz paid parking ends at 8pm. - I have attended several times now, and for every show, they open the doors later than they should. What that means is the line will snake around the block in areas that are not covered. Plan/dress accordingly for the weather and don't wear only a skimpy outfit cuz you're on a hot date. This is Seattle after all. - Because they open the door late, the show almost never starts on time. If you are chillaxing comfortably somewhere nearby (dinner, coffee, whatever), you are a-okay to show up at exactly start of show time. Trust me, the show hasn't started yet. - The line for beverage and snacks is always long (and kinda slow, too). Plan for that if you really want that cup of wine and bag of M&Ms. - The bathroom is downstairs. - I prefer ground floor seating (sorry, stating the obvious). The balcony seatings are fine, too. The second level seating feels like way-way-way up there. Visually, because the place is small-ish, the view is still ok. (For reference, smaller than Paramount, bigger than Neptune) The performers like to wave "hello, up there". - They offer free tours once a month. https://www.stgpresents.org/calendar/12511/free-moore-tour This place is old. It has its charms. Look up at the moldings and trims that are all painted white now. Not my favorite venue by any means, but I certainly will attend any show there if I want to see the performer.

I went to this theater to attend my very first Kpop concert and it was with ONEUS :D Environment: it was small and I LIKE IT so you could see the stage pretty well even if you're sitting on the second-floor back-ish area. Maybe because the people followed the lines at the lobby but though it was small, it was very organized. Inside the theater, it was quite lovely. Yes, lots of steep steps so be careful but the colors, shapes, architecture of this theater was lovely and I enjoyed looking around while waiting. Staff: The security was quick, reminded me of the airport but the security and other staff were very kind, friendly, and helpful, too. This theater was easy to find and it was very close to Pike's Market. There are a few parking garages and fast foods around the area like McDonald's. Though that area could be considered a little sketchy at night, it was still fine with lots of lights and security walking and checking.

Old theater used for various shows. Been in the middle balcony a couple of times and the view is good. There is a bar and restrooms on that level. Remember the age of the building and things may be on the smaller side.

First time at The Moore and I'm asking myself now, WHY? The vibe! Awesomeness! Everything about this theatre was Amazing! First, we landed parking right behind the theatre for $25, not bad at all for Seattle parking. We had center floor seats, which was awesome but there really isn't a bad seat in the house. The line for drinks was long and the drinks are pricey but every concert venue has overpriced drinks and food. I expected it so I wasn't about to complain. I enjoyed the evening and I'd definitely see another concert here.

    Itty bitty uncomfortable seating!

One star is based on how comfortable the seating and temperature control is. It's a very old (120+ years) theater which is really awesome. It has a lot of really cool nostalgia and history inside. But to sit in these seats for a couple hours for a show was a horrible experience. I'm 6'-2" and 240lbs, my hips barely fit in the seats and my shins were pressed against the hard wooden seat backs the entire time. I spent more time trying to figure out a way to be comfortable than I did enjoying the show. On top of being physically uncomfortable, there is no air flow whatsoever! It was a cool evening (low 60's) and I was sweating bullets, can't imagine what it's like on a hot summer day. You could almost everyone was miserable inside. I ended up sitting on the concrete stairs for 1/3 of the show, luckily I had an aisle seat to do so. Oh, and an 8oz glass of crappy wine is $29. Be prepared if you're planning to see a show here, you've been warned.

Ask the Community - The Moore Theatre

Is the second balcony worth it? I want to go for a concert and it’s the cheapest.

Yep. It's a small theater. You're good wherever you sit.

I am disabled. Will we be helped to our seats?we are on the second balcony and just found out today that you dont have elevators?

You would need to call the theater for the answer to this question or call the venue from which you purchased the tickets and inquire about disabled access seating....

Can I buy drinks /bring drinks to seat while watching the show?

Yes, if you buy the wine tumbler, you can enjoy it in your seat. If you only buy the regular cup, then you have to drink it in the lobby before you can go to the seating area.

How does general admission work here if it is all seated?

Hi Thomas - when a show is general admission seating at The Moore Theatre, that means that seating is first come, first served. Depending on the event, general admission seating may be by section (main floor, first balcony, second balcony).… Read more

Is seating in the center section, first few rows good viewing for a concert?

At the shows I've been to, I haven't sat that close but around 10 rows back, and the first few rows were folding chairs that looked pretty uncomfortable and kind of awkwardly close to the stage.

Do you have to be 21 to attend events at this location?

No. It's a Theater, not a club venue. It is also at the discretion of the promoters for said event, but for the most part, that's very rare.

I never really do coat check because I'm paranoid about not having my things on me, but the one here is easy and reliable. The only real issue was the photo booth which only worked for the first half hour or so. I'm assuming it ran out of film or something because at some point, it just kept taking people's money without taking any photos, which was brought up to the staff. This isn't necessarily on Showbox since the photo booth is provided by a vendor, but I would've appreciated an "out of order" sign. The massive multi-tiered seating area is very impressive, yet the acoustics still felt excellent and immersive throughout the performance. The touring production of The Phantom of the Opera at Paramount Theatre was absolutely fantastic…read more The cast was incredible, and the production itself deserved a much better audience environment than what the theater allowed. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst theater etiquette experiences I've ever had. During the first act, a man seated behind us repeatedly sang along during the performance. When I politely asked him to stop, the person next to him sarcastically pointed at the stage and said, "The show is over there," while the behavior continued. Around us, multiple people talked throughout songs and scenes, and later in the evening I even saw someone openly filming the show on an iPhone. I eventually had to leave my seats (Main Floor 2, Row G) and speak to management because the disruptions were so bad I couldn't focus on the performance. The only solution offered was seats in the very back of the orchestra. By that point, the experience was already frustrating enough that it took a while to calm down and enjoy the show again. What's most disappointing is that this is the SECOND time I've experienced terrible audience behavior at this theater. I previously saw Back to the Future here and dealt with nonstop talking during that performance too. I attend theater regularly in Southern California at Segerstrom Center for the Arts and also frequently see shows in New York City. Ushers there actively monitor audience behavior and quickly shut down disruptions. At the Paramount, it felt completely unmanaged. For the prices being charged -- around $350 for my tickets through Ticketmaster -- audience members should not have to deal with talking, singing, and filming throughout a Broadway performance. Amazing production. Extremely disappointing theater management and audience control.

Originally opened in 1934, the Blue Moon carries the kind of atmosphere you cannot recreate -- walls covered in decades of music, art, stickers, photographs, and stories. A dimly lit room packed with musicians, writers, artists, and people who genuinely appreciate creativity in its raw form. Throughout the night, the stage moved between live music, poetry, and performances from local artists while the crowd filled the tavern from the bar to the stage floor. Places like this remind me why independent art still matters. As an author traveling all over the United States -- and as someone who lived in the Seattle area for 2 1/2 years -- standing on that stage reading poetry from Purple Rose in a venue with this much history behind it was really something special. What I loved most was how welcoming the environment was. This is a very LGBTQ-friendly, art-friendly space where people genuinely support one another. If you are brand new to open mics or nervous about sharing your work for the first time, this is the kind of place where you will absolutely be shown kindness and encouragement. There were so many talented musicians, poets, and performers there, and you could really feel the appreciation for creativity throughout the room. The setup of the tavern itself is awesome. The stage and seating area wrap around the bar in almost a U-shape, so you can really choose your own vibe for the night. If you want to stay close to the performances and music, there is a dance floor and table area near the stage. If you want something more relaxed, you can hang back near the bar, have a drink, and still enjoy the atmosphere without being directly in the middle of everything. They also have a full bar, arcade games, board games, books to read, and even a small library on the shelves throughout the tavern. Somewhere inside, you may even find a signed copy of Purple Rose that I left hidden and dedicated to the historic Blue Moon itself. Beautiful evening with wonderful people. I, my wife, and her friend stopped by for New Year's Drinks around 6, and about 6:30 or so, made the mistake of asking Tim Duvall, the clearly drunken before 7:00 PM owner of the establishment, whether outside food can be brought into the bar. This led to his regaling us with an extended and utterly unsolicited history of the bar. He then invited himself to sit with us, halfway into the seat before slurring a "Can I sit down?" to insert himself into our booth. We then moved to another unsolicited conversation, this time about politics. Now, to be clear - I have no doubt that I and a sober Tim Duvall probably agree on most of our politics. This did not stop him from berating me as I agreed with his point, loudly escalating and yelling as I tried to agree with him (again... to be clear, I DIDN'T disagree his political view) until he stood and began yelling that I was kicked out. As I stood to talk on him, he became VERY comfortable with putting his hands on me, grabbing my sweatshirt to move me. I was NOT about to challenge that as a Black man new to Seattle that doesn't know how the police would handle things. I need to be very specific about how quickly this man felt comfortable touching me, grabbing my sweater to "drag" me. This is the step that is WAY over the line. I would genuinely like to recommend this place, as I'm looking for bars that offer sugar cane soda. Drunken ownership- in the early evening in New Year's - that feels comfortable being handsy with Black folk is far too much. AVOID at all costs.
